Where I Can't Follow
From Amazon bestselling author Kristen Granata comes something new and suspenseful...
I woke up from a coma in a life I don’t remember.
Without my memories, I start to rebuild the dance studio that burned down with my past. This small town comes together to help me, and I’m beyond grateful. They keep me grounded in reality, which isn’t easy when I hear eerie sounds in my empty house at night, or when the strange man who keeps following me disappears into thin air.
Then I meet Luke. The handsome, broody biker doesn’t feel quite like a stranger. My body reacts to him like he’s tied to the parts of myself I can’t access. Despite our connection, there are things he’s not telling me. And being near him feels both safe and dangerous.
The more I’m with Luke, the more I’m able to remember. But the closer I get to the truth, the less I understand.
Getting my memories back should bring relief.
Yet remembering only means losing everything all over again.
Tropes:

Haunting, tender, and achingly beautiful, Where I Can’t Follow is an emotional rollercoaster I would ride time and time again. Kristen Granata tackles the amnesia trope with a rawness that will break your heart — and a tenderness that will put it back together.

Well... that was something else.
I was in the mood for a sweet little suspenseful romance and was told this novella would pack a punch. And let me tell you... it sure as hell did.
First, let me start off by saying this is a five-star vibes read. It’s short, it pulls you in immediately, and you’re thrown into this town and instantly invested in these characters and their story.
Our FMC, Cordelia, has amnesia and can’t remember anything. All she knows is that she woke up from a coma to find out her sister is dead and her life’s work, a dance studio she built from the ground up, has burned to the ground.
Everyone in town is handling our girl with kid gloves, trying to help reignite her memory. Then she meets a mysterious man named Luke, and she feels an instant pull toward him... but she has no idea why.
As she tries to navigate getting her memory back, there are a TON of clues, and things just aren’t quite adding up.
I will tell you this... as a theorizing queen, I had SO MANY ideas. So many thoughts. ALL OF THEM WRONG.
This was the first book in a while that really got me. Like, my FLABBERS were GASTED. (That was for you, Nicole.) I did NOT see that coming. Not even a little bit.
It was 1:30 a.m., and I was bawling my eyes out. Truly.
If you want something short that will pull you in, refuse to let go, and give you ALL THE FEELS... DOWNLOAD THIS IMMEDIATELY.

Seriously …this was so mean. But damn it is just what I needed. There’s no good way to review this without spoiling it it’s just a must read for your tbr. Just know if Amnesia isn’t a typical favorite for you, give this quick read a try because it’s done sooo much better than any others I’ve read. I’ll never get the hate for that trope- especially in romance - when it forever gives me 50 first dates makes make her fall in love with you over and over again vibes, and I’m so here for it. This book is done in a bit of a non traditional HEA sense but LORD we need more of that these days to keep us in our toes. Get your tissues ready and buckle up 🩷

Ahhhhh KRISTEN!!!!! That ending!!!!!! I was onto you this whole time, but also not at the same time. 🤭 I was second guessing everything during this read and trying to piece together literally every little thing you said that would make me solve this mystery.
Cordelia Vale was caught in a fire at her dance studio and woke up from a coma not remembering a damn thing. She has the whole town supporting her with regaining her memories and to help rebuild her studio. A broody man on a motorcycle named Luke, keeps popping up wherever she does. He’s someone she doesn’t recognize, but her body and her mind are telling her otherwise. Her memories start coming more and more to her and you’ll be in such shock once she figures out the truth behind the fire and why everyone in town is letting her realize these truths on her own.
This was such a fast and perfect read, with fall, mysterious vibes. I adore Kristen’s stories, and although I needed to grab my tissues at the end, you won’t be disappointed in the ending. 🥰🫶🏻

When Cordelia loses her memories due to an accident, she fights to figure out what happened to her. With the town whispers and stares, she leans into Luke who never judges or questions her decisions.
Luke and Cordelia are the perfect match. Luke’s caring and protective nature with her had me swooning over him. Cordelia is headstrong in her path to find answers to her memory loss.
I am not one to go for the amnesia trope, but this one is done well with the added mystery of trying to regain the memories with her. I felt her frustration, grief, happiness and peace as she got closer to who she was before the accident.
The ending had me questioning everything in the best way! I love how Kristen brings a story to life!
Thank you to Kristen and team for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨
This book had me GASPING with every single page I turned. It had these spooky, mysterious vibes that had me completely hooked!
The story follows Luke and Cordelia. After an accident leaves Cordelia with amnesia, Luke just always seems to be there for her. As the story unfolds, you slowly start finding out what happened and the connection these two actually have, and I was literally obsessed.
But I’m sorry… THAT ENDING 😭 I was gasping. I wanted to throw my Kindle, pick it straight back up, and keep reading because I needed to know how this beautiful story was going to end.
I absolutely loved Luke and Cordelia, and I seriously love Kristen’s writing. This story had me hooked from beginning to end.
Thank you so much to Kristen for an ARC copy of this book. I greatly appreciate it! 🫶🏻📚

When Kristen Granata promises that you will cry, trust you are going to be put through the ringer. This book was phenomenal. I had to step away to be able to write a spoiler free review because she straight up twisted my brain and heart around!
The FMC, Cordelia, was freaking brave. She went through a huge trauma and had to literally rebuild from the ashes to start new. The entire town coming together to help her regain her memories and show her how loved she was and still is was refreshing.
The MMC, Luke. GOD Luke. I can't even go into anything because I won't be the reason you figure anything out! Just pick this up, go in blind if you can, and enjoy the ride. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Where I Can’t Follow is an extremely unique book with an ending that I never saw coming.
Amnesia
Small town romance
Falling in love again
Tragic past
Non-traditional HEA
We start the book with Cornelia waking up from a coma and not remembering anything. So she is a few months post hospital stay and she is trying to learn her life again.
In walks Luke. The mysterious and hot biker man. The one who can’t seem to stay away. The one man she doesn’t remember, but he certainly remembers her.
Without giving anything away, Kristen brings us on an emotional rollercoaster. This is a shorter read, but that does not take away from the emotional torment I felt while reading this one.
Highly recommend going into this one blind.

THIS 👏🏼 BOOK 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 all the freaking stars.
I’m actually going to keep this review quite short because when I tell you that this book is a piece of literary genius that you just need to read to find out why. I think it is such a unique and clever romance. To say anything would be giving it away.
This is a story set in a small stars-hollow-esq town that features Cordelia who wakes up after a fire with no memories of her recent life. It is a story of her working out what happened, with the help of a tall, dark & broody handsome man - Luke
This book makes you feel all the feels. I was literally gasping, smacking my head, screaming, & sobbing.
It is absolutely an all-consuming read, & it is quite short so you can absolutely binge this in one day which I highly recommend you do.
If ever there is a book that you trust me to recommend to you blindly, let it be this book.
Read it, enjoy it & thank me later

September 22, 2026The author warned me to have tissues ready, and I should have listened. 😭
I binged this entire book in a day because I couldn't put it down.
I thought I knew what was coming.
I was wrong. So very wrong.
I haven't been this emotionally wrecked over a book in years.
I loved every moment of this emotional roller-coaster. But I also feel like I need to write a sternly-worded letter to the author for putting me through this. I might also need to set up an appointment with my therapist.

Oh Kristen, this was mean 😭 It’s been a while since I’ve been so emotional to read the end of a romance book.
When Cordelia awakes from a coma, she doesn’t remember anything about her life. Even Luke, is a stranger. He loves her from afar, not wanting to hinder her recovery.
However, the pieces start to come together and the truth is revealed. There’s a twist that’s devastating, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Get your tissues ready!

Chapters 26-30 and Epilogue
Why did I get Beetlejuice vibes and the book by
Jessica Verday The Hollow vibes with these chapters?
I CAN'T believe what else was shown to her at the cemetery Wow and we finally found out where a certain name came up and why Cordelia thought what she did.
I can't believe who Elias was in this whole story.
Oh lordy Kristen some how some way,you had
to sneak in the Mafia in the book lol.
Just an FYI you will be crying with these chapters.
Another Amazing book Kristen !!!! Touch Down
Chapters 21-25
Wow Wow these chapters answers all the questions and I CAN'T Believe Who the person Cordelia saw around town and in her dreams .
I CAN'T believe what Luke shows her,it's
like a scene from A Christmas Carol with
Scrooge and The Christmas Future,but
reversed.
Cordelia's flood gates are busted open Wow!
I CAN'T WAIT to finish the story, usually
I have book anxiety towards the end
of the story, but it started right off the bat for this one.
Chapters 16-20
The puzzle pieces are being put together more and more, and We also get another question as well,
who is he,who is the man that Cordelia saw?
Luke had a conversation with his dad about Cordelia
and he brings up a him who wasn't nice.
There are three heart rate rising moments and the second one the morning after leads to two HUGE memory pieces and wow major plot twist.
I CAN'T WAIT to read more!
Chapters 11-15
These chapters are so good, Cordelia is starting to get pieces like a puzzle.
She continues to have nightmares or memories,
but she has a strong group around her to help her.
Holidays can be hard when it's the first of when a loved one or friend went home to the Lord.
Cordelia has her group of friends to center her,
and she invited someone to dinner
(yes she asked the person who invited her first.)
Holiday dinner turned into an outing with
Cordelia and Luke, but who ask who first?
Cordelia 's doctor visit was emotional for
her and the she thinks she someone is
following her. She went to pay her respects
to someone but the weather had other ideas.
Chapter 15 is sweet in the beginning and then
BAM Kristen gives us A Heart Rate Rising MOMENT!!!
The chapter ends with emotions again.
I CAN'T WAIT to read more!
Chapters 6-10
Okay these chapters keeps adding on to the questions.
1.How does Luke know Cordelia?
Why are people upset with him?
What did he mean, when she leaves?
2.Who did that to the dance studio?
3.What was with the Crow
4. Who opened the safe
5. What was with the money in the bank account?
The way that Cordelia can just turn on the music and let the music take her away, reminds me of Sarah on Save The Last Dance or Nora from Step Up.
It's so cute how Luke wants to help Cordelia,
I feel bad for her because she is having nightmares
and PTSD 😔,and she doesn't think she is pretty anymore.
I CAN'T WAIT to read more

I love the books I have read from her
and I hope everyone who reads the book enjoys the story

I like to have pictures in my head of the characters,

With that said
I seen Cordelia as Mallory Jansen (Hallmark actress)
I see Luke as Niall Matter(Aurora Tea Garden)
I see Elias as Victor Webster (Hannah Swenson's)
I see Cathy as Marilu Henner(Aurora Tea Garden)
Chapters 1-5
Right off the bat I have so many questions
and can't wait to find out all the answers.
I of course love seeing my home state
being represented
as always fellow NJ girl Kristen.
I automatically feel sad for Cordelia
and can't wait to continue on her journey.
I am getting Hallmark vibes with this story,
maybe it will change when I read on
who knows.

Ok wow! Talk about a book that is so full of twists and turns, pulling out all sorts of emotions from deep in your gut, and leaving you ugly crying. Kristen had my attention in the palm of her hand from the very first chapter, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. Just when you think you know where the story is going, a sharp turn has you rethinking everything and feeling different feelings, which had me flipping the pages faster and faster.
This book can only be explained without any spoilers by saying this … these characters are ones that you’re naturally skeptical of until you see the realness behind them. Cordelia is the main chapter and she is waking up from being in a coma from an accident. This book takes you on her journey of regaining memories and trying to piece together her life before the accident. Along the way she is reunited with her love, Luke. But without giving her hints on their shared memories, she struggles with trying to remember him because her heart and gut tell her he’s familiar, he’s home. It was such a beautiful journey filled with anticipation and even a little yearning. It was so sweet to watch Luke be there as she regains bits and pieces of their love story and how at ease Cordelia was finding her person again.
But the big twist comes at the end. And when I tell you my jaw dropped and the tears came flooding down my face, it was immediate! No spoilers here, but the ending was perfection mixed with tragic beauty and made my heart ache and swell with warmth all at the same time.
Kristen, this book was *chef kiss*!!

I’m going to be so honest, I don’t even know where to start. I guess make sure you have tissues and about 10 hours of uninterrupted time before you read this book because trust me, you are going to need both. I feel speechless in a sense of my mind being all over the place and with how much I absolutely loved this book. Read the trigger warnings and be prepared for the winds and twists. Right when you think you might have something figured out, I promise, you don’t!
Luke is definitely the sexy broody biker type. He definitely fits that description. He is also a natural caretaker and will do anything to protect Cordelia while she is struggling with her memory loss. He is not going to leave her side and ensure that she will get her memory back on her own. He does not push, he does not pressure, he just shows up for her in more ways than she even realized she needed.
Cordelia is going through hell. She gets hurt in a fire and on top of that she no longer has her memory. She has no idea what happened to her and who the people are in her life. She doesn’t know if she has a boyfriend or a family. But she knows one thing, she is going to fix her dance studio and get her memory back. She will do anything to put the pieces of her life back together that don’t make sense.
Thank you the author for sending me this Advanced Readers Copy! Not only did I devour this book but it also ripped my heart out while simultaneously messing with my mind. You did an incredible job with this book!

ARC Review: 5⭐️
Where I can’t follow is a Hauntingly emotional small town romance featuring Luke Ashford & Cordelia Vale.
After a fire at the dance studio she owns with her twin sister leaves her with amnesia, Cordelia is trying to put her life back together one step at a time. Unfortunately her sister passed in the fire and she doesn’t remember anyone else in town.
She has people in town who offer to help her re do the studio and they begin the daunting task. Cordelia meets a man named Luke who feels familiar to her but shes not sure how. She can feel a special bond with him but she has no reason why everyone in town seems to have a problem with him.
Her Doctor has told everyone in town to not tell her things about her life before the fire because it could impact her healing. She realizes that everyone is keeping things from her and it’s killing her she can’t remember.
As time goes on, Cordelia has visions of memories especially surrounding the night of the fire but everything continues to be a mystery. When she finally remembers and all the truths are revealed, will she be able to surive learning the truth?
All I can say is WOW! I simpy did not see the ending coming and the gasp I gasped !! I fell in love with these characters and I spent the whole book wondering what Luke was hiding from her, but truly nothing prepared me for the truth! I simply binged this in one sitting and loved every second of it!
Do yourself a favour and grab this one today if you like a little bit of mystery and suspense with your romance!!
Thank you Kristen for the ARC, I still think my jaw is on the floor!

Between the title and the main character named Luke I couldn't get the song Where You Lead I Follow out of my head. I was lulled into a sense of a cozy, yet suspenseful romance. I should have heeded Kristen's warning of tissues.
I threw my tablet, sobbed and said no, no she wouldn't do this to me. I quickly picked it back up and devoured the remaining chapters. Still sobbed but that ending! My husband, I found him staring at me with concern and then he says, "Good book?". I tried to explain and delved further into an odd blubbery laugh while trying to tell him the BEST book.
I felt for Cordelia throughout her recovery, to have no memories of your friends, community and to see people sharing looks or comments and knowing they are about you. Not hurtful, but out of concern but still heartwrenching.
Luke and Cordelia, both lonely individuals, one remembers nothing and the other remembers everything. They are like two sides of the same coin.
It was an evocative, and achingly endearing romance that had me going through guesses of what happened, and where it would all lead.
I appreciated there were no loose ends, and every piece of the story was plucked and had a finale that I never saw coming. This was my favourite read and I wish I could read it again for the first time.
And you know your limits, so read the author's content warnings
Thank you Kristen Granata for this ARC. I received an advanced reader copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Where I Can’t Follow wasn’t just a book that I read, it was a whole ass reading experience! I knew there was a twist, but I was NOT prepared for that ending. Kristen - you are a sadist! Also, I love you for it.
I can’t imagine the stress associated with waking up from a coma and not remembering anything. Cordelia feels like everyone knows all about her life except for her. Her doctors have advised people against telling her information so her memories can return naturally to avoid trauma.
She feels deeply connected to Luke, but she doesn’t know anything about their history or how they go to where they are today. One thing that is very clear is that Luke loves Cordelia deeply and would do anything to make sure she is ok.
I honestly can’t help myself when a book has a twist. I will try to figure it out the entire time. I was analyzing every action and intention of all the characters who came in contact with Cordelia. I was also trying to figure out if Cordelia herself was a reliable narrator. I will totally admit that I was wrong on every front. I love being genuinely surprised and the end of this book had me audibly gasping. There are also some really sad parts, so I recommend having some tissues handy.
This is a fantastic read going into fall and spooky season and a pretty big departure from the books this author typically writes (besides the angst). I loved it and can’t wait to see what she decides to write next.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 STARS — I AM NOT OKAY.
WHAT. DID. KRISTEN. JUST. DO. TO. ME?!?!
I picked up this book thinking I was going to read a romance and maybe shed a cute little tear or two. WRONG. I was emotionally ASSAULTED. I was put through the absolute wringer. I laughed, I cried, I stared at the ceiling questioning my life choices, and somehow I STILL want more.
Luke and Cordelia??? These two completely consumed me. I was so invested in their story that at some point I stopped reading and started personally experiencing their problems. 😭 Every emotion they felt? Apparently, I felt it too. Every heartbreak? DIRECTLY TO MY CHEST.
And Kristen??? GIRL. YOU CANNOT KEEP DOING THIS TO ME.
How are you going to make me fall completely in love with your characters, make me care about them with my entire soul, make me cry actual tears, and then just casually leave me sitting there emotionally DESTROYED?! The audacity. The talent. The absolute cruelty. I thought I would be fine after reading… I was, in fact, NOT fine.
Luke and Cordelia will be permanently occupying a section of my brain now. I fear I will never recover. I fear Kristen knew exactly what she was doing. I fear I would willingly let her destroy me like this AGAIN.
5 stars because apparently I LOVE being emotionally traumatized by fictional people and Kristen Granata ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely.
Would I recommend having emotional support afterward? ALSO ABSOLUTELY. 😭💔

This book. THIS book. THIS. BOOK.
I can’t even begin to describe how Luke and Cordelia snared my heart, ripped it apart, and then stitched it back together. But I’m going to try.
Cordelia just woke from a coma and is finally able to start going out into town after months of rehabbing at home after she woke up. Luke, a mysterious stranger who keeps showing up whenever she seems to need him, is someone special to Cordelia, she just doesn’t remember him. The pair, along with Elias the local handy man, start to rebuild Cordelia’s dance studio after the fire that put Cordelia in a coma and killed someone else in the building as well.
As Cordelia and Luke get closer and as Cordelia’s memories start to come back to her, the truth behind the fire breaks Cordelia’s heart when she finally remembers what’s been missing all of this time. And as Luke says, once she remembers, everything is going to change.
This beautifully written story is one that brings all the feelings. Anger, angst, heartache, and a mending that stitches Luke and Cordelia into your heart where they’ll stay forever. I literally haven’t been able to read the last few days since I’ve finished this book because now I want to reread it again to celebrate their love and the yearning all over again. Where I Can’t Follow is a must read, especially if you love spooky vibes and plot twists you won’t see coming.

“Step right up, folks. It’s the woman with the damaged brain. She’s known you all her life, but she can’t remember who you are.”
One thing Kristen is going to do, is make you laugh while also making you cry and if that’s not Where I Can’t Follow I don’t know what is.
Cordelia has amnesia, the only memories she has are of her sister who passed away in the accident that caused her brain injury - but hey, she has a great sense of humor about it. Finally getting clearance from her doctor to begin getting back to normal, she finds herself back where it all happened to start rebuilding from the ashes.
The whole community rallies around her to help, including a very broody biker who seems to know her quite well.
And that broody biker is EVERYTHING TO ME 😭. Luke is quite literally a yearner extraordinaire.
When I tell you.. I literally gave myself a headache from crying over this book (complimentary) I am not kidding. Cordelia and Luke took me on an emotional roller coaster ride I never wanted to get off of. Every time I thought I had it figured out I was so so wrong.
I am so excited for everyone to read this. DOWNLOAD IT RIGHT NOW!

Waking up from a coma and you have amnesia. Cordelia starts to rebuild her studio with the help of her small town. She’s hearing sounds in her house at night and seeing a man in a dark coat and hat but he always disappears before she can get there. She meets Luke the brooding biker and has a connection. She starts to remember but remembering may have her losing everything…..
I really loved this book. I don’t often cry while reading but I was ugly crying by the end of this one. I don’t want to spoil anything but this book has some triggers if you need to check those before reading. It’s a small town romance that has twists and turns that you do not expect. Definitely an emotional read so get cozy and have your emotional support pet and a box of tissue with you.

Well well well not Ms Granata throwing me for a loop with this book.
I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure what to anticipate and there were so many twists and turns but it was so good.
Cordelia has memory loss from an accident. She was a dancer that had a studio that got burned down and she got hurt in the process. She is trying to rebuild her studio and regain her memories in the process.
You then meet Luke, sweet baby Luke. He’s trying to help Cordelia regain her memories by helping her out with her studio. He tends to show up at the right time when Cordelia runs into issues.
As Cordelia starts gaining some of her memories she starts to put the pieces together about her life and what happened. Then this is where we get to the good stuff, the last third of the book almost had me bawling my eyes out. That plot twist??? I swore I was going to throw my kindle across the room. I made an actual frustrated noise that had people looking at me funny.
The ending was beautiful and as sad as it was I loved it so much. It was so evil but made so much sense.

You know a book is a masterpiece when you are thankful of the author for completely wrecking you. I was a sobbing, heartbroken mess and I know this story will stay with me forever. The love in this book is so palpable it feels like your own, all characters so genuine and kind to Cordelia. The girl who woke up from her coma without any of her memories but those of her twin who died in the accident that put her in the hospital. The mystery around the protective Luke and the affection and care he has for her, breaking his own heart all over to help her find herself back - knowing he will lose her if she does.
I won't give a small overview of the book, I don't want to slip up or give anything away. But I will tell everyone this. Let Granata shatter you soul, it is worth it in the most bittersweet way.

First off, thank you so much Kristen and her PA Mary for giving me the opportunity to ARC read this book!! 🖤
This book was fantastic, and a gutter, all in one!
The characters are easy to like, and the story was very easy to get into. One chapter in and I was sucked into Cordelia's story, wanting to know what happened. My heart broke for her character.
Amnesia stories always get me in the heart, and this one absolutely did. Reading the FMCs frustrations of her healing journey and trying to get her memories back, had me wanting to reach in the book and give her a hug.
I love the town, and the people in it, such a cozy town. I loved how everyone was there for her, but didn't interfere with her memories.
And Luke?? I was swooning over that man.
Get your tissues ready, this is a book that is written by Kristen after all 😭🖤

Now, I really don’t know how to review a book like this without spoiling it, so I’ll purposely leave this vague and leave it up to you, dear reader.
It’s been a long, long time since an author has pulled the rug out from under my feet the way Kristen Granata did with this book. I was expecting secrets and mystery, but these twists and turns had me reading the same pages and the same lines over and over again… I was shocked. There was a point where I literally yelled “Noooooo” is slow motion. And the thing is, the book isn’t even that long, but manages to be so complex at the same time.
The way Luke made Cordelia fall in love with him despite her amnesia was so endearing. I loved these two. The spice in this book was tamer than in other books I’ve read, but it was appropriate for the tone and length of the book. Bravo!

It's very hard to write a review for this one without giving anything away but woooooof that ending!!!
Cordelia is a few months post coma after a devastating fire that burned down her dance studio and killed her sister. Cordelia has no real memories of anyone in town, except for her sister and their father. Following doctor's orders, no one in town will tell her anything about her past or if they have connections.
And then, Luke. A mysterious biker who always happens to be around when Cordelia needs help. The only person Cordelia feels safe and comfortable being around, even though she can tell he's keeping secrets.
I really enjoyed this one! It was a fast paced, easy read that did emotional damage. I found some of the character choices to be frustrating, but I did understand them at the end. However, in the moment it did take me out of it.
Thank you to the author for the free eARC!
