A Love Frozen In Time…
Reese Johnson yearns for a life other than the world of drudgery she’s settled for as the manager of a comic book store. What’s that they say? Be careful what you wish for? Well that’s a motto Reese should have tattooed across her forehead. Because Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has just the remedy for the boring life of this woman who denounces his existence.

His recipe for disaster?
Take a 30 year-old woman and send her back in time as a pawn for revenge. Couple her with Eirik Sigurdsson, a Viking Warlord, too arrogant and baggage-laden to be of any use for anything, but battle and bed. Mix thoroughly, folding in a heavy dose of pride, a tyrannical king, and a sympathetic goddess. Bake at high until a white-hot love is unleashed and then forever frozen in time.

NOTE: The Viking Wants Forever was previously published as Frozen in Time. The story has been expanded by 42,000 words.

Koko Brown

Koko Brown is the pseudonym for a quintessential erotic romance junkie who once read over 200 Zebra Club novels the summer before her senior year in high school.

Koko’s writing career began at the tender age of nine when she self-published and distributed a newspaper to her fellow classmates. Unfortunately, her grade school school principal didn’t appreciate the competition and put her out of business after one best-selling issue.

Undaunted, Koko continued to write and read everything she could get her hands on. She honed her writing skills as a staff writer on her college’s newspaper, writing obituaries for the local newspaper, and teaching English to high school students.

One day while daydreaming in bed, Koko came up with the idea for her first erotic manuscript. Taking a hiatus from teaching, she had enough time on her hands to flesh out the story in two short weeks. A week later, she cleaned it up, then sent it to Ellora’s Cave during the Christmas holiday. By January she heard from one of their editors and by March (and many revisions) she signed a contract for her vampire novel Charmed.

Calling the east coast of Florida home, this multipublished author of interracial erotic romance loves to travel, shop in thrift stores, ride motorcycles, renovate houses, and volunteering.

THE VIKING WANTS FOREVER is one that I really looked forward to reading. It had lots of elements that would draw me in. It features a somewhat nerdy AA woman, time travel, and a Viking. What else could I ask for in a steamy romance? This one had my name written all over it and with the fantastic cover I pre-ordered a copy and happily started reading the day it came out. Unfortunately this wasn't the best read for me. The premise is great, it was exactly what I wanted, however the execution left me disappointed.

There are many editing issues from beginning to end. There is even an incident towards the end around the 95% mark where Reese, the main character, is referred to as Celeste. It was out of the blue and I had to make sure that I hadn't missed something. Some of the transitions in the story aren't very smooth and I was left having to figure out what was happening. I also expected a bit more character development for both Reese and Eirik. Their relationship was instantaneous which I completely expected because of the circumstances in which they were thrown together. However, I wanted their relationship to develop into something more than just intense sexual attraction. I didn't feel as if there was any depth of feeling developing between them. The reason for Reese being sent to Eirik's time is simple which is fine but I wish that there had been more meaning behind the stone. I know that Loki is the bringer of mischief and mayhem but I wanted the stone to have had some meaning or symbolism attached to it.

There is also the issue of slavery and how easily Reese is able to manipulate Eirik to change something that should have been an extremely difficult and complicated maneuver. Eirik is not a sovereign ruler and is accountable to more powerful men. The change made would have had a ripple effect outside of just Eirik's holding. That issue was too quickly and easily resolved. It would also have been nice to have the dynamics between Eirik and both of his brothers further explored. Their relationships could have been a great source for tension in the story. Even the tension between Eirik and Bjarni (his best friend) over Reese felt rushed and too easily resolved. The ending felt off kielter and rushed. There is a time gap at the end that I really would have liked to have seen filled in as well.

I really hate that THE VIKING WANTS FOREVER wasn't a win for me. I will read another Koko Brown book again but I just hope the next release will have a better editing team.

Beautiful comic store manager and D&D aficionado travels back in time because Loki cursed her there and meets a dangerous (and dreamy) Viking warlord.....

She has to pose as a slave.....

so she can steal an amulet back from the Viking warlord and Loki would then return her back to her time.

Don't care! It works for me. If you are going to start to pick apart her sudden change of character (from nerdy store keep to brazen hussy) and why the Viking was immediately enthralled with her (very hot by the way), remember that the premise of the story is TIME TRAVELING.

So some suspension of disbelief is very much necessary. If you can get past that, the story is a very hot and entertaining ride.

Erike tries to play off his instant attraction and connection to Reese due to expectations in rank and the fact that she is a slave. Everyone around him starts thinking he is nutty when he starts to take bigger and bigger risks just to keep her.

So, yeah. I think he is the bees knees. Plus with that alpha, warrior, possessive thing he's got going on...

Like I said, awesome read. Leave your Sherlock Houndstooth hat off for this ride.

Not a good book, no character development. This is only ok if you just want to read sex throughout the book. No storyline ! A big waste of time.
October 24, 2017
This book was heroine hijacking to the 10th power. How the hell did Reese go from "take this job and shove it" to "omg, your penis is like so magical"???

The Fountain Pen Diva has a non-negotiable rule: I must love the heroine as much as I love the hero.

This book violated that rule.

To be honest, I'd read the ebook version of this story several years ago when it was much shorter. It wasn't great, but I was riding the big wave of sexy IR books so I ignored the lack of character development. This newer version is longer and I hoped would have more substance, but it's still the same lackluster tale that really could be better. I mean it's got all the ingredients for a rollicking and hot tale: a regular geek girl, a big sexy Viking, a vengeful Norse god and time travel. Sad to say, nothing happened. Save lots and lots and lots and lots of sex.

Now I love good smut like any other red-blooded female, but GOOD is the operative word here and these sex scenes were boring and repetitive. I got it, Eirik's hung like a bull and likes to pound women into the mattress. But seriously, how many times do I need his "me Tarzan, you Jane" routine? How many times can a girl cum until she's got no fluids left in her? And seriously, that kind of rough monkey sex can do some damage to both her and him. Cocks and vaginas get rubbed raw. Muscles ache. Bodies start to smell a bit ripe without a shower or bath in between bouts of marathon sex. Those are real things, but these two screwed like bunnies on steroids. How the hell did Eirik get anything done when he was spending most of the book either banging Reese into the ground or thinking about banging Reese into the ground?

And can we say "hell to the no" to the questionable consent? She says no, she's pushing him away, but her p*ssy's wet so ignore her protests. Another reason why I hate asshat alphas.

And Reese. What a total let down. I was waiting for her to get it together. To let Eirik know 21st century women don't play that overbearing alpha stuff. And her ready acceptance of being a *slave*? Are you kidding me? I was waiting for her to go all Rebel Alliance on him and demand that she be his equal. Seriously, Viking women weren't these meek maidens (Lagertha anyone), something Reese as a geek chick should have known. I wanted to see some fight in her, some "if you come at me wrong I'll gut you like a fish". I was waiting for Eirik to be both frazzled, maddened, and crazy about Reese in ways that had nothing to do with her banging body or how much he liked banging it. That he'd come to respect her strength, her mind, as well as her body. She had a job to do, even though it was unwilling. And what is it that makes authors treat their heroines like they'd never had great sex before the hero comes along? Another trope that needs to die. Slowly. Preferably upon a flaming Catherine Wheel. With arrows piercing it.

The only thing I can say is that this was a quick read, even at over 400 pages. Reese's nerd speak wasn't enough to save this book, and the ending was a crazy jumble of WTF. When this was first published I'd enjoyed it a little more, but pages of boring and unimaginative sex just don't do it for me. I need to love the characters, and I just didn't.

This was a really hot, yet truly interesting book. :)

So I gotta admit first... I'm a big fan of the plot wherein a woman gets transported somewhere and meet her one and only love there. This is why I love the FANTASYLAND series by KRISTEN ASHLEY and why I also love TRANSCENDENCE by SHAY SAVAGE. It's just one of those things that I really love reading about. Isn't that amazing? To discover a hidden world or another time?

I just had to say that for you to know where my enthusiasm is coming from.

Alrighty..

The story revolves around our heroine, Reese, who works for a comic book shop. She's witty, feisty, smart and artistic. There's just a dowside to her personality at first. Let's just say that Reese lacked balls for a long time, then suddenly found them one day. She quit her job to start anew. However, Loki, the god of mischief had something else in mind. He sent Reese on a mission to steal something from a very formidable man in the past, Eirik Sigurdsson.

Eirik Sigurdsson sure is a powerful guy. He's strong and he has a reputation like that of a gladiator. He has conquered many places and is known to be an amazing warrior. It is known that he's a bastard son of the king, so there's some bitterness right there. What other people in his clan seemed to not know is that he also has a soft spot - especially when it comes to Reese. I love it that he fought for her. I love it that he treated her very nicely and he truly got attached.

This book is a mixture of action, mishchief, drama, romance, hot moments and sweet ones too! That ending sure surprised me! I love it!!!

Amazing story full of passion, adventure, humor, and well-layered plotting and characterization. I highly recommend this amazing read!

I instantly connected with Reese who let her self-doubts keep her in a job longer than she should be. Sweet, intelligent, and searching for more, she's thrown into the past after insulting Loki. ( Note to self, never belittle the god). I felt like i was watching a move as she traversed the past, struggling to fit in, and achieve the task Loki gave her. Enter Eirik, the panty wetting, massive blonde Viking who wants to claim her and you got a recipe for delicious friction ( pun intended)

Eirik. The Viking has no clue what hit him when he meets , Reese, the slave who shows him how much more life has to offer .She challenges the beliefs of the time with her bravery, request for equality, and that something he can't put his finger on that makes him feel. A man with horrible luck with women, he's hardened his heart. But we all know that means nothing when you meet the right one.

God, the thirst with this chick is real and painful to behold. I consider myself fairly liberal. Some might say overly so, but come on woman! How do you go from a clever geek with your head in a game to...to...it was like her only concern was penis. I mean, here's this guy (and yeah, hot viking yay) and he just grabs you and absconds with you to his room to fuck. No hello, no awkward "are you dtf" attempt at pantomime, not as much as a nod and a wink. Explicit consent is everything! But she doesn't care cause woohoo biceps! You know what, not liking this doesn't make me a prude cause newsflash: losing your mind over a penis is problematic. It plays into way too many "I know you want it" grossness. And also ruins perfectly good protagonists.

The second star is in loving memory of what might've been.

My girl, Koko Brown, does it again! I found Reese to be very endearing; I really liked her. Eirik, the oh so Yummy Viking, was all alpha and totally sexy. The banter between Reese and Eirik was hilarious. (LOL ;-) The love scenes were aplenty and sctorching - just how I like it. My iPad almost melted.*drools*
I'm so glad they got their HEA!

Longer review to come.

This was such a fun read. The only thing I didn't like was that some of the sexy scenes were a little confusing. I had to reread a few lines to figure out which body parts were where. Other than that I freaking loved this book and the end was exactly what I wanted. I dont often reread, but I'm probably going to reread this one.

After reading the sample I couldn't wait to find out where the story would go. Turns out, it lead to a bedroom full of lust filled weeks that worn me out and all I did was read. There was no story here. No character development or of the places that were mentioned. I actually put the book down twice and forced myself to finish it. For Reece to be a comic book store manager you would think she would be well versed or some sort of knowledgeable when it came to the Vikings. Obviously there needed to be more research done on that era because nothing in this book made sense and when she mentioned Justin Bieber, I was through. Even better when one of the slaves made a conditioner for her natural hair. However my interest did peak up once she was sent back home. The book could've been saved if the ending wasn't so rushed. Koko could have explored Eirick's learning about Reese's world while getting her to fall in love with him. Instead he kisses her she gets a headache then slowly remembers what they were to each other. Which left me confused because Freyja said Reese would never remember him. After reading Taken this was a complete let down for me.

Could have been so good, the concept of the story sounded great and I love time travel romance. But this book had little to do with romance, there was too much sex, too much lusting after each other. It seemed the poorly constructed plot interspersed with some historical bits was only there to lengthen the book. It was boring. The heroine was too immature and sometimes acted very silly. I couldn't believe she was meant to be a nearly thirty year old woman. The only reason I'm giving it two stars was for the last part, when h and H meet again. Then the focus was more on the romance instead of only lust and sex. I'm not sure if I would recommend this book to fans of erotica. Though I prefer books with slow building romance and only a little sex, I like some good erotica now and then. But I would say the most part of this book was just boring and dumb.

This is just a naughty naughty book, I really enjoyed the beginning and was getting into it, then it become complete sexy time, chapter after chapter. The heroine could have been better developed, I got bored around chapter 14 and took a long break and then forced myself to finish.
I really wanted the to give it a 4 but after I cant its like a good 3.6, I like ero-books, comics and geekery and some parts of this book definitely gave me that, so I enjoyed that much.

So much fun.

This book definitely spoke to the geek in me. Time travel, Vikings, cosplay, beer, comic books, and lots and lots of dirty sex. Like for real, these two had to have been chaffed beyond belief! Yes, there were a few editorial errors, but I loved the heroine. She went from being suppressed and afraid to letting out the inner goddess only released during cosplay. Her authentic self was able to come through thanks to the tricks of Loki who did her a disservice and a favor all at once.

This book had me laughing out loud on more than several occasions. Ms. Koko Brown has a new fan. It's great to read someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously.

Dreadful, there was a hint of a good story and the ending was the best part of it once the author stopped filling every paragraph with the main character being screwed all the time. The grammar and spelling mistakes however made it very difficult to read, literally every other line had a mistake but I ploughed through it just to say that I had finished it and quickly too as it was giving me a headache :/

Reese is a fun heroine, a comic book nerdgirl from Florida, who ends up being sent by Loki (Norsse god of mischief) to interact with Eirik, who I pictured as the love child of Fabio and Chris Hemsworth.

Partly set in contemporary Florida, and in ye olde Viking tymes that are left a bit foggy, it requires a fair amount of suspension of disbelief. The sex scenes are juicy and compelling, though though was one scene hinted at that did not come to pass, which I found disappointing. Also, there were a few more typos in it than I was happy about - if you are also persnickety, like me, you might find them a distraction.

All in all though, it's a charming erotic romance, with a heroine I wouldn't mind being friends with, a hero I'd like to bang, and a HEA.

four stars may be a little much -- and the negative reviews are all correct re editing, instalove rather than actual character development, and the unlikeliness of her actually abolishing the system of slavery in his village -- but honestly this crazysauce viking time travel book was hilarious and delightful. I gasped, I laughed out loud, I super enjoyed the experience of reading it. and with the exception of one particularly nonsensical moment ("WHAT. her friends will be worried sick!") I ADORED the end. is this a Viking time travel trope? no idea! the only other viking time travel book I've read took itself way too seriously and was significantly less satisfying on all counts.

also, it kept coming close to moments that made me super nervous in terms of problematic and squicky territory, and then managing to avoid them at the last second. (me: uhhh, wait, slavery? hard no. author: np, they're not getting it on until she's successfully abolished that system. me: still unsure but gosh that's a solution.)

tl;dr : I totally enjoyed it and will definitely try more more Koko Brown!

Whew!

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. Why three stars? Well it started off so well loved the comic book nerd premise. Loved when our heroine was transported to another place in time. BUT it felt like once the hero discovered that she was a woman....It was all about SEX SEX SEX and more SEX! Until I was like....ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!! Look I enjoy hot sex scenarios with a hot Viking just like any woman would. But it was overkill. That seemed to go on for like ten chapters!? That's a rough guess. I was so excited to get to chapter twenty three. I was like FINALLY!!! More story!!!!! Yeah!!!! Then almost at the end there is one time where the heroine is referred to as Celeste!? Wow really!? Did anyone else catch that? I like this author... man she can spin a tail! I will read other books by her. But I know I will skim through the pages if there is excessive sex. Yes sex adds to the story. But it shouldn't be what the story is all about. That can get boring real quick.

Real review 3.5.
I am now into Vikings. . .Never thought I'd say that.
This book was not incredible, the love story wasn't earth shattering or anything. This was a somewhat well written, more than enough smut, interracial Viking story.
Some things didn't make sense. Like how glossed over slavery was. But hey, this is a smutty Viking book - I didn't expect anything profound.
I didn't like how some language nuisances from Reese just. . . Never got addressed. I wanted Eirik to question Reese about it. At one point Reese played eenie meenie miny moe to tease Eirik and he somehow knew that game. . . . Like
I also didn't like how their whole relationship was based on sex, but the reader is expected to root for them as this couple whose love transcends time and space.
Every few pages Eirik or Reese were pining to sleep with one another. So much so that their bodies ached to touch. Okay, I'm into that. Yes, sign me up! Eirik's friend even made a comment on how obsessed Eirik was in having sex with her. Then later in the book Eirik is monologuing on how there is no other woman for him, and he loves her so much. I found myself wondering if I had witnessed the same relationship he did.
If it's just about the spice, then just say it's about the spice. I'm quite positive nobody reading this book is looking for a cataclysmic love story.
On spice, it delivered. The plot was shaky, but again - I didn't pick this book up expecting anything remarkable. I liked the characters. I believed the ending. All in all, this was a good, short, spicy read. I'm definitely going to explore more of Brown's books.

I read so many reviews before reading the book and a girl was scared. Let me tell you, I'm so glad I went with my gut and read this book. I really, really, really enjoyed it.

Yes, there were a lot of grammatical issues, but because I went it knowing that from other reviews it didn't bother me.

I do believe that the author added 42,000 words based on feedback and it showed.

Now I'm not going to lie, the slave thing was mad irritating and I have a severe dislike for reading anything that has to do with slavery for good reasons. I actually researched vikings and slavery before reading it.

I'm so glad I read the reviews beforehand and knew that slavery was apart of the story and that it was ended within the book because I would have dnf'ed it so fast.

The only thing I didn't like was that some of the sexy scenes were a little confusing. I had to reread a few lines to figure out which body parts were where.

The chemistry was bleeding through the pages. It definitely gave romance. This book had me laughing out loud on more than several occasions. This love story shows that love transcends time, no matter if one doesn't remember. The heart remembers the love implanted there.

What a journey

I'm not normally into time travel or the paranormal stories but I enjoyed this one. Reese's disrespect of the demi-god Loki, set actions in motion that had her act as a pawn in getting back at the Viking jarl, Eirik Sigurdsson for not paying him homage for the tourmaline mind find. It turns out neither Reese not Eirik were expecting to fall so head over heals for each other. Eirik was leary about falling in love because of the rejection he suffered at the hands of the fair Oona . Reese suffered at the hands of selfish boy friends previously and was expecting Jarl Eirik to be the same as all of the previous men in her life. She was pleasantly surprised that he was a totally giving lover who was willing to fight and die for her, even if it meant going against the King Haakon, his selfish half brother, even if it meant traveling though time. The goddess of love Freya, felt sorry for all his sacrifices he'd made in his life and transported him through time to find his lady love after she was sent back home to her time after doing Loki's bidding.

This love story shows that love transcends time, no matter if one doesn't remember. The heart remembers the love implanted there.

I wish Reese had more backbone and fight in her, she gave in a bit too easy to Eirik's caveman antics, as soon as it looked like she might put him in his place she caved, I get it, he's hot & hung like a horse but how long can someone be dickmatized until they actually start thinking clearly, Eirik caveman ways got on my nerves a bit, yeah I know he's a Viking & from a different time but ffs, didn't think I'd ever say this but there's too much sex in this story, it felt as if it was a cover for a lack of proper plot, a lot of editing mistakes, at one point Reese's name was changed to Celeste 😑, also not much conflict happened, each time a opportunity came for it it was quickly squashed (Bjarni and Haakon)

Brown does it again with a great story that had me by the pussy hairs. I couldn't stop reading this and lost sleep over it but it was worth it.
Reese and Eirik's love story was just too sweet and heartfelt (and also hella HAWT 🥵) that it transcended time. Even before they spoke a word to each other, they were destined when they laid eyes on each other and I am a sucker for that trope. They did have their challenges which I appreciate because having nothing go wrong in a story makes it dry and boring. Also, the 🔞 scenes, which were plentiful, were chefs kiss delectable 🫡 which I was not at all expecting but greatly appreciated.

I was excited to read this story about Reese going back in time, meeting and falling in love with Einrick, the Viking warrior.

Spoiler ........

What I was not excited about is how he made Reese, a free woman, into a slave to meet his own needs. He supposedly loved her so much, but she had to trick him to gain her and the other slaves' freedom. Also a good majority of the book focused on their constant love making, but when they met again in modern time, the story was rushed. This book was fairly decent but should have explored more

Love Forever

Time travel with rhe main character a "beautiful, black, woman" YES! She was talented, bold, and exotic. Eirik was yummy! Tall, blonde, tan, and a Viking warrior. Their chemistry was off the charts and very sexy. He was a typical Viking with raging hormones and she was a lucky woman. I was glad they got a second chance when he traveled to her time of the twenties. Also liked the way Koko handled the slave issue. In this fantasy girls like Reese get the stud muffin.
