Rate this book
Incorporating Okayado's signature, sexy spin on mythological creatures, 12 Beast is an upbeat, hilarious fantasy about a high school student transported to another world. BOSS BATTLE BY THE SEA! Sun, sand, and girls in bikinis playing volleyball...it’s Eita’s dream come true! Except for one little detail—these girls are half-animal. Eita’s beach fantasy quickly dissolves into a nightmare when a giant squid shows up, bringing naughty tentacles to the party. All too soon, Eita, Aero, Jawea, and Asterio must leave their beach paradise to seek out Steela, the Witch of the Deep. But first, Eita must face his murkiest opponent the evil Angler!

This series has shaped up to be really good. I especially like the inside cover information about the race and civilization we will come in contact with each volume. This time we meet Steela the Witch of the Deep who is a part octopus woman, super fine and mysterious, and we go to the Merfolk floating city. We also begin to find out more information about the Gigas and the people who pilot them. The final part of the volume is episode 0 not sure if this will be canon to the series or not if so it is set in the future.

I'm really enjoying 12 Beast. I find the story very interesting and I want to know more about the Gigas pilots and why they're targeting the inhabitants of the alternate world. We don't get much information this time around but we do get to learn more about Eita's foes. A new totally awesome water city is introduced (as with every volume so far we get a new setting and a new race added to the story). The comedy is good which keeps the story light. Obviously there is a ton of fan service in Okayado's work and 12 Beast vol. 3 keeps with this so if you can't stand fan service steer clear of this one.

A good read with some very nice art both with the characters and the setting itself. I hope that the story picks up in future volumes. Okayado does give us a glimpse of how the story got started with 12 Beast Vol. 0 at the end. It's a fun but quick read and suggests where the story might be going.

Started this one for Japanese reading and it seemed like a fun story, It has moved on to a moral story of doing what is right even when it causes pain. It has remained a fun story.
