This is the stuff rock stars' dreams are made of.
Tina Turner (not that Tina Turner) and her band, The Rockets, achieve the unbelievable when they are asked to compete on the same music reality television show, The Next Great American Band, that launched the careers of bands like Everclear. Sure, they'd accomplished some small time success in their small town of Woodlands, but this could lead to a bona fide record deal and a place among the greatest constellation of all, Music Stars.
For Tina, this would prove to her mother, supermodel Cece Turner (yes, that Cece Turner), that music is a viable career option, not just a hobby that would need to be put on a back burner when it came time for college, and a way to keep her band of best friends together forever.
But even a paparazzi veteran like Tina couldn't have foreseen the type of pressures the show would bring, even more groupies (how was that possible?), America's favorite female rocker turned judge out to critisize Tina's vocal flaws on national television and pick at Tina's physical flaws in private, and major family secrets unfolding, thus unraveling Tina on a way too observable stage.

Sweet girl & the rockstar; Josh was definitely a rockstar, with a lil bit of JOCK in him...

This book was so good; it only took me one day to finish this though I started this almost towards midnight... I still count it as one day.
**•• Just let me add a few spoilers throughout this review”•***
So okay, I knew that Jessie boy was full of it smh, it always that one band member that will mess it up for others. Then to come to find out even Josh and Dragon didn’t even like him, that they only let Jessie stay because Tina loved him at the time. I was glad they went to that competition because they got to see who Jessie truly was.
Especially with the things, he said about her and to her. I couldn’t stand that Kelly Cook lady. She was so disrespectful, and Jessie wack self-agreed with everything she said about Tina. But not, Josh, Josh took up for Tina, that he should. But what I couldn’t figure out how Tina, never realize that it was Josh was the one who followed her around like a lost puppy. As the lady Verna I think that’s how you spell her name mention. She assumed it might be Nick I said really...
Same for when she though Nick told the Reporters that Z was her father. She was to blind to figure out it wasn’t Nick. I mean her and Josh were in the studio talking, and someone could’ve heard them and or a camera could’ve been in there at that time recording them... I still couldn’t figure out how they couldn’t figure that out. But glad everyone figured out what they wanted to do besides music and got a new guitar player. I do wonder if Dragon went to school for interior design...
In the end, I am glad, that Z and CeCe ended up together & not only that Tina and Josh finally figured out they wanted each other smh! One thing I hope is that in the next book, it doesn’t wait until they are adults to realize they want, care, find out they had the feeling for each other ugh! So annoying !!!! Happens in like the other two or three books before this one.
Oh thing I forgot to add, I was glad Jessie album flop especially since he went solo and blame Tina for getting them to kick out of the competition. When I still say Kelly has something to do with it. As well as brainwashing Jessie too ... glad Nick didn’t let Kelly get to him. Jessie was cunt bucket idiot and showed his true colors to his bandmates.

Tina’s story had you in a rock star, fame setting. There were not many Sunday Lunchers settings, or relapsing into eating disorder level, but it was still a very good read. The fact that the author makes each character from a different culture and with a different focus in life (entertainment, academics, etc) helps remove the thought that only one group of people can suffer from eating disorders. It had the usual touch of romance and ends in a way that leaves you curious about what will happen next – perfect as the author plans a sequel of the story. I give the book a 3.5/10

As the series progresses, the stories get milder. I really like how the characters keep making appearances and are in each other’s lives throughout the series, rather than just being a passing mention. The author is very talented and has a unique, clever writing style that I really enjoy. And I appreciate that every story is so different and not formulaic. I’m once again looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

4.5 stars. This one had more romance drama than the others. And I wasn't sure who Tina was going to end up with - because Josh was cute and loyal, but Nick was also a cutie and I could totally see him reforming for the right girl (oh, I so love reformed rake stories). The only one out of the picture would be Jessy - what a player! So I was not happy at all with Tina making excuses for him for so long. Anyway. overall I liked this YA book - here the drama was not so much about school, bullying and so on, but about fame and the pressures of being a celebrity. It showed the ugly part of it - jealousy, dirty play, lack of privacy...

So much better! It seemed to mature. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the end, although I wish more communication would have happened, then it wouldn't be a great story, right.
The band finds their way into a competition. When Tina (clever name by the way) find out one of the judges is her famous father (unknown to him). SOmeone finds out even though the band is on a straight shot to win. It leaks and they are disqualified due to apparent nepotism. Her crush leaves for a famous chick (another judge) and they leave. Her father finds her and well you'll have to read the rest to find out.

Sunday Lunchers
I really enjoyed this book, Tina would be a fun person to hang out with you could really get into her emotions and her life story. These books put me right back into high school and I can see so much of them in the school I went to. Thanks for such a great series and a trip down memory lane!

I liked this one maybe most of the bunch? Maybe tied with one other, I can't decide. I liked that it was a different story. The others are all high school plots, this one is a fresh perspective and a fun story to read. I wasn't ready for it to have a sequel, though, so that took me off guard. I'm excited to see what happens!
