Jessica did such a great job tying everything together and closing all the knots to wrap this story up.

While reading, it’s so easy to develop hate for certain characters, but once their backstories and reasons are laid out, it becomes hard to even hold onto that hate. Rico loved Wyn so much that he had to hold onto that hate in his heart just to be able to continue living without her. I really had to learn to let my beef with him go. 😭

The relationship between the sisters, Rico and his crew and dad, and learning more about Mars’ parents… Y’ALL. This book was SO good. 😭 I could go on for days discussing these characters and arguing every single side of this story.

This one is definitely more of an urban romance compared to the last book. They gets down in this one! Rico? He loves him some Snow! And Snow loved her some Luneyyy. Their love ran DEEP. 😭 5 STARS. I Am So Sad it’s over 🥹

Wynter and Rico completely had me in a chokehold with this one.

Stay Dangerous: The Coldest picks up right where Stay Dangerous left off and immediately pulls you back into the world of South Kenton, where emotions run high, loyalty runs deep, and nothing about love is ever simple. Jessica A. wastes no time reminding readers why this couple is so compelling, while also raising the stakes in a way that feels both intense and deeply personal.

One of the strongest elements of this installment is Wynter’s continued sobriety journey. It is written with care, honesty, and realism. Nothing about her growth is rushed or romanticized. Instead, we see the difficult moments, the internal battles, the accountability, and the quiet strength it takes to keep choosing yourself even when it is hard. Wynter’s arc is powerful and grounding, and it makes her journey feel incredibly authentic. It is impossible not to root for her as she fights to reclaim her life and her sense of self.

Rico, on the other hand, delivers some of the most meaningful growth in the book. He is still very much Rico, but there is a noticeable shift in how he loves, how he listens, and how he shows up for Wynter. His evolution is rooted in action rather than words. He uplifts her, challenges her when needed, and consistently reminds her of her worth, even when she struggles to see it herself. Watching him grow into a more emotionally aware and intentional partner added so much depth to his character.

Their relationship remains layered and complicated, which is exactly what makes it feel so real. This is not a fairytale romance where everything falls into place easily. Instead, it is a story about two people who have history, pain, and unresolved emotions trying to navigate what love looks like after everything they have been through. There are difficult conversations, moments of vulnerability, and a constant push and pull between the past and the possibility of a future. Their reconnection feels earned, not given.

Returning to South Kenton and the Foe Dub family adds another rich layer to the story. One of the most rewarding aspects of this book is seeing how far the entire group has come. Each character is dealing with their own growth, their own consequences, and their own healing. The dynamics within the group feel more mature and more grounded, even when tension arises. What stands out most is the unwavering sense of loyalty that still holds them together. No matter how messy things get, there is always an underlying bond that refuses to break. Watching this group evolve as individuals while still remaining connected as a unit gives the story a strong sense of continuity and emotional depth.

Autumn is another character who adds complexity to the narrative. She is frustrating at times, but her actions are rooted in pain and unresolved emotions. Jessica A. does not write one-dimensional characters, and Autumn is a perfect example of that. Even when her behavior is difficult to understand, there is still a level of empathy that comes through because her hurt is evident. It adds another layer of realism to the story and reinforces the idea that people are rarely just good or bad.

Wynter’s return to her identity as an artist is another standout aspect of the book. Watching her reconnect with her creativity and rediscover a part of herself that had been buried under everything she has endured is both emotional and inspiring. It serves as a reminder that healing is not just about survival, but also about rediscovery.

Jessica A. continues to prove why her storytelling resonates so strongly. This book had me experiencing a full range of emotions. There were moments that made me laugh, moments that made me emotional, and moments that had me completely invested in the characters’ choices and outcomes. The balance between heavy emotional themes and lighter, more natural interactions is handled with skill, making the story feel both engaging and grounded.

At its core, Stay Dangerous: The Coldest is a story about growth, accountability, healing, and the complicated nature of love. It explores what it means to face your past, take responsibility for your actions, and still choose to move forward. It is about second chances, not just in romance, but in life and identity.

This book delivers romance, emotional depth, family dynamics, personal growth, and a strong sense of community within South Kenton. It is heartfelt, intense, and deeply character-driven in the best way.

long story short:

If you are looking at this book that means you've been rocking with this series and you are ready for the conclusion of their story.

Trust me, well worth the wait.

You will NOT be disappointed!

So, get your Kleenex.

The ending while beautiful, will be bittersweet because we are ending an amazing era...

Oh yeah, there is a c*ck lock and tongue ring so do with that information as you will.

Five stars and highly recommended.

Short story long:

Rico and Snow, are not my favorite story in this series.

They are not my favorite couple in this series.

To minimize them to one of the above would be a disservice to them and the work the author poured into them.

They are the story I never knew I wanted.

Even going through the series and seeing them sprinkled throughout- they were interesting but not fully appreciated by me.

After finishing this book, I realized they have become my favorite exploration of love in this series.

Yes, all of our relationships had so much going on and areas they had to overcome to be together.

However, Rico and Snow just read different.

They were presented differently.

Because of that, I felt tethered to their love from "Stay Dangerous".

There is SO MUCH I want to add to that but I will leave it at this-

The author wrote an amazing story about young love in such a real and tragic way that made it beautiful in its pursuit to completion.

You felt their growing pains and disappointments.

You felt the same heartbreak they felt in their distance.

That thin line between love and hate was so palpable.

WHEW!

Lastly, the way the author wrote Fredo so that we could grieve him while actively experiencing him…LOVED!

This second chance romance is so raw and gritty. From kids to adults, the highest of highs and lowest of lows… Rico and Wyn get back together again.

These two had to overcome so many obstacles to get to where they are in, The Coldest. Their journeys were brutal and it was ugly, but they did the work that was necessary. Throughout this series I wondered why there was so much tension between them…seeing their HEA was such a feel good moment.

Throughout the series there is an emphasis on mental health and substance abuse. I appreciate the way it’s discussed and the work the characters put in to better themselves.

I had the pleasure to be an Arc reader for this book and I was throughly pleased. What a great end to a 5 star series. Coming of age to unrequited love this was everything I needed. Wynter and Rico were packed with trauma and underlying trust issues that were keeping them from themselves as well as each other. It was so refreshing to see the growth comes new love! I hate it ended but my girl did her biggest congrats Jessica 5 solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!

GIO!....Whew, well that was a ride

This read definitely had me on a roller coaster, often pulling me into a number of thoughts ranging from "eh," to "whaa". Right when you get tricked into the mundane a killer scene would pop off that'll have me grabbing my popcorn like Great Scott's and blowing up the group chat like whatthefuckery....

and all the things in between. A 5-star read for me includes if it made me feel something; if it made me want to turn the pages. Although Rico will never make my Book Bae list, and despite how moments of their romance felt, the page turns were swift, the shouts were out loud, the desire to toss my reader was strong, and the spark to cuss characters out all made sure I had a "yes to the stress and give 5 stars" relief. Book 8 in a series, and Jessica warns us that this book will put you through all the feels if you at least read Part 1. This book gives you background, clears up series misunderstandings, and fleshes out the lore of some of the greatest moments within the series. And I agree this is a five-star read for me because so many moments went full circle to Book 1 references or situations with Wynter and Auty.

So many moments that hit different when you realize the symmetry between how Rico/Fredo and Auty/Wynter both move through their worlds. Dealt a shitty hand; these kids were down at the start of their lives. But we watched them claw their way up.

This book had ebb-and-flow moments. There were certain quiet situations, like how the resort scenes seemed to drag and didn't have a larger payoff; family members we got extreme details on we won't even encounter again in the last half of the book to rehash scenes, but told from a different pov. But lots of that is based on my thought that this book would immediately pick up where Kismet left off. I thought we were going to see Rico promise that forever and watch the fallout a year later- wait. I thought we were going to have combustion and longing and so much more, but that isn't what we get.

This read is the missing year leading up to that scene. And that was a bummer, a letdown for me. It meant the romance itself, at moments, felt stale. From Wyn saying she still distrusts him, whipping out cock locks, but still yelling out "she don't belong to him and she doesn't have a man," I was left a little lost as to the purpose of the endgame romance arc in this oversized read. Rico in Kismet made it seem like he gave Wyn a year of longing, but come to find out, he was right there breathing in her face the entire time, and we saw every minute of it. Some of the writing technicalities I love: how Jessica gives us a long timeline; in The Coldest, we get no chapter titles to detail the passage of time like in Kismet, and flashbacks are usually pitch-perfect to set the mood and break up the narrative flow; in The Coldest, the flashbacks are gone; without the break in flow, we just had the unflinching task of healing.

Getting expectations out of the way, gotta take the book as it is, which is when I realized if I read this 550-pager in 11 hours, so real gotta recognize real. Because a lot of those quiet moments I thought were slow paid off in the second half when bombs start dropping; the distractions truly did work to make certain surprises pop, and you start putting pieces together. Neck now on swivel.

I only like Rico because Wyn loves him and she deserves good sex. But Rico is hard to like. Even when he had a switch, and the truth was unearthed, dispelling the reasons for his Wyn hatred, I wanted him to fold into Wyn more. Instead, it was more of a low crescendo, she noticed, but he never discussed why the change until later. For the majority of the book, he was a flat line. He was stoic, secretive, and a liar who smirked very well even during key "laying our cards on the table" scenes until close to the end. Rico was content to do whatever the fuck he wanted and never apologize; I lost interest in him at times. Rico's unchanging nature meant I didn't care how many sexy piercings he had; he was just a little bland.

But what I love about Jessica A's writing is that the flawed get called out. There are consequences for shitty behaviors and attitudes. So the flawed behavior is not just shrugged off and given the "a-ok"; nah, gotta rip the band-aid off and see all the disgusting green ooze.

Cracks that started to shift in Book 4- Shaddy Shad's book that tipped a teensy in Book 5- True Love's battle of wills busted out in Book 6- Ty-Ty's revenge has taken a different shape in Book 8. This book was getting the disease out completely. Cut that bitch out and hope everyone heals. Partially, what made Rico and Wyn a little whelming and anticlimactic is that they created 99.9% of their own conflict by not being forthcoming. Understandably, because their childhoods sucked with sucky parents, but Wyn was willing to put her wrongs out there to apologize in the name of healing. But not Rico; he would just smirk and say he isn't apologizing for anything. Our girl got clean, and in the process, we watched her come up and glow up; it was amazing. Wyn and YT were the stars of this show. Rico, however, I wish Ty-Ty would have punched him harder. Rico really doesn't understand how hurtful his ish was to a lot of people when he blatantly lied. It took him too long to do anything about recognizing how he hurt people. So it was difficult for his character payoff to stick. But those sly moments when he goes above and beyond for his Snow, gold. I did blush right along with Wyn.

Goes to Auty, Nan, Slime, and kind of Set. And I loved the drama of it!

Auty'sEvolution
Book 1, I liked Auty ok; she seemed like a girl's girl. Book 1 Wyn, however, was on my "this 🥷🏾 weird" list. A large part of my enjoyment with this book is because the names on my little "Weird/not weird 🥷🏾" T-Chart kept shifting and hopping. That is the mark of a good read, when characters' motives and motivations are constantly shifting and making you think about their behaviors and choices.

Flashforward to Book 4, and I just felt so deeply and strongly for Wyn during Shady's flashbacks and present scenes. The things he noticed but no one else did, like her sadness and unfocused eyes. Just everything made me truly feel for her. But also by Book 4, my opinion of Auty was shifting into nonplussed or nonchalant. All these characters treated her like this shining beacon, but by Books 5 and 6, I was doing the "Obama look at this ish" meme pose when Auty would pop up. She had a nasty habit of lowkey demeaning and devaluing her clearly hurting sister. Her being happy and up while ignoring the alarm bells of Wyn made me look at her sideways; masterful writing, and why the previous reads enhance this one.

The mirage of who Auty is and the perceptions of others start to wear off by this book. By the end of The Coldest, I seriously grew to hate Auty. I was glad others were taking their Auty rose colored glasses off so they could see the viper underneath. I loved every moment of Wyn releasing those things she's been holding in for over 15+ years. I loved how Wyn finally stood up for herself, but most of all, all of Rico's swoonworthy moments came when he was actively defending his girl from her own "friend" group.

Rico and Wyn share a lot of overlapping similarities. As the eldest twin, the way Rico manages the hurt and pain of the life lessons that were thrown at him mimicked Wyn. They both were great at cutting to the bone, lying (even to themselves) while offering protection that was close to martyrdom. They are the perfect pair for one another, even if I didn't gush over their romance or call Rico my man, my man, my man because Wyn can have him. The writing was so expertly done I couldn't deny that they were meant for one another. The symmetry for them goes all the way to the bone, to the grief that Rico is still under from not being there for his brother's death, and Wyn grieving what could have been with her sister; their broken pieces could only fit each other. All jagged and reaching.

Weird ass 🥷🏾 List
1. Nan- I hate her. From the beginning of the series to the last page, I didn't care for her. She was horrible. From being a shitty mom to Pooh Bear to a conniving grandmother. She dished out poor advice at perfectly controlled moments. By the end of The Coldest, I wouldn't have been mad if she didn't make it.
2. Slime- he was so extreme, and the explanation for his feelings made me dislike him even more. No, he does not serve as a foil to Wyn's feelings towards another Alverz. I spent the whole book thinking, no way he truly loved that man, Fredo. Nooooo way. And at a critical moment, let out a Gio! I was gasping in delight that my dreams would come true to watch his demise.
3. Auty- she took the cake in every way in this book. She was verbally and emotionally abusive, violent, disturbing, and an all-around crappy person from 20% onward. I reached a point when I said, "She and Pay Pay deserve one another because they are both weird," to "poor Turk". She was manipulative, spoiled, and selfish. A shining star to everyone, but she couldn't stop being entitled for me to ever move her off the list. Even when a reason or a why dropped for her behavior.
4. Set- what a huge tumble he took from my Book 1, like. I loved viewing Set's character from Miko's eyes in Kismet. Perfect example of how Jessica weaves lasting effects from costly situations. In Kismet, he is in his established grown-man era, but my God, the Set in this book was an egregious 🥷🏾. The way he was nasty to both people he called family/friend threw me off. Brina needed to stab him for real.

Wow! I can’t believe this is the end for my guys. This series has to be in my top 5. This book took you through a mix of emotions.

Snow and Rico are not my favorite couple in the series. Nutty (Tatti) and Choc (Moe) are my favorite. What does that say about me lol.

However, I feel Snow let Rico off a little too easy for me. That man should have been sliding down someone’s wall after he learned the truth about Snow past and how he was completely wrong about her. He treated her foul and he was the one moving dirty in their youth. His hatred was over the top for her, but in a way that’s how we know Rico still cared about her all those years. I feel they should have been in someone’s couch. In all seriousness I loved how they didn’t change who they were at the Core. Rico was crazy jealous and I guess that’s his crash out tendency. I just wish Snow gave him more pushback on being in a relationship. Don’t get me wrong my girl did do a number on him physically.

Despite all that I’m glad they got their HEA. I will say Rico stood 10 toes for her after he claimed her. He made sure no one disrespected her. Rico also made sure her sobriety was taken seriously by everyone she was around. Snow really needed someone who had her back and Rico made sure she was good. Snow also had Rico back and didn’t play about him. I truly loved the bond they had for each other. Both of them needed love and they really did love each other.

I was shock how mad Set was about Snow. I knew he would be upset but not that upset. I was thinking it was more than just friends, but understood where he was coming from. Rico and Set having that heart to heart was really touching and eye opening.

Auty was annoying in this book. I wanted to slap her so many times. At one point I was like Turkey legally married to Patience let’s kill Auty off. However, after learning about the diagnosis it makes sense. I’m glad she finally came to terms she needed help.

Slime annoyed me too. I understood why he was so hurt but I feel he should have been mad at Ju. ( I’m surprised he didn’t think she was the mother) I feel he took the betrayal too far. I wonder what will come after him knowing Ju is Mars mother. I’m glad Snow talked to Slime and cleared the air.

The growth of each character was beautiful to see. Literally all of them changed for the better and made something out of themselves. Especially with the upbringing they had, no one expected them to make it out. I love the bond they all have. They all have each other best interests at heart.

I’m so happy Pooh was able to be set free from being made the villain. Rico needed that closure and a start of a relationship with Pooh. Also I’m happy Pooh found love again.

I would have love for Snow and Rico to have a baby, so they could be the parents they always wanted/needed.

"Although we've come to the end of the road, still I can't let gooo."

Wow, what a huge undertaking to wrap up such a complex series. I was holding my breath through the whole thing because Jessica will kill off someone in a minute 😑. No spoilers here. She managed to pull all of the storylines together, and there are a lot (it may be helpful to brush up on the past books if it's been awhile). But she did leave some space for side quests in the future....like what's up with Jupiter?!

This finale gives up the last leg of Wynter Snow and Rico's love story back home in South Kenton, where they have to finally put it all on the table and deal with the fallout. Lots of secrets to be uncovered and old wounds to be laid bare to begin healing. Some are just beyond repair, but Rico will handle them 😮‍💨.

Rico's journey has been tragic and dark, and he never stopped to deal with any of it. Wynter Snow forced him to stop and take inventory, just by loving him. Her light in the midst of the darkness saved him many times over. And he did the same for her, he reached in and pulled her out of the darkness and fought off all her external demons while she took care of the ones inside. Despite the rough nature of their love (at times 😬), it was soft and sweet and deep. And most importantly, unconditional.

Now FOE DUB, everyone has their own mess, but they manage to always remember it's Family Over Everything.

I loved this book so much! Ending this series with Rico and Wynter was PERFECT and I felt so fulfilled after I finished.

Wynter has become one of my favorite FMCs in this series and that says a lot. She carried the weight of everyone else’s drama, slander, and betrayal while fighting battles that threatened her physical and mental health. After numbing her pain and crying out for help, she experienced a reawakening to the woman she has always been. I was rooting for her and at times my heart broke for her.

Rico’s initial hatred for Wynter was felt throughout the pages. Certain moments made my jaw drop as he navigated pushing past that hatred and confronting buried issues and truths. Underneath the tough exterior, I saw a man who questioned his past decisions, dealt with some sort of survivor’s remorse, and couldn’t fight the fact that he has always been in love with Wynter.

Rico and Wynter just did it for me! The love, pain, and healing they had to go through individually and together brought tears to my eyes. I felt every emotion.

Jessica, you’ve outdone yourself with this book and the entire series! I was entertained all throughout, and I love the complexity and development of every single character.

The Coldest is just that, COLD!

My eyes are sweating

When I tell you this series is EVERYTHING! Jessica A., the woman that you are! This may genuinely be my favorite read of the year so far.

I started this series on July 8th, and I have been in Kenton ever since! I became so invested in these characters, their stories, and this entire world. Seeing Wyn and Rico finally get their happy ending was everything I needed. So many questions were answered, so many things came full circle, and it made finishing the series that much more satisfying.

There is something so cathartic about seeing characters simply trying to figure out this thing called life. We do it every day in the real world, and then we escape into books only to find characters doing the same thing: loving, hurting, making mistakes, growing, healing, and trying to find their way.

I am genuinely sad to leave Kenton, but what a ride! Jessica A. created a world and characters that I will not forget anytime soon. ❤️

Stay Dangerous - The Coldest is a continuation of a love story that started 11 years ago. Rico and Wyn have my heart forever and after. The love and strength that was poured back into Wynter was just what I needed to end the book off. I love that fact that Rico stood on BIG business when it came to his Snow. He never changed who he was but was willing to compromise when it came to his woman <3 She had him going crazy for that pu-nanana.

The Coldest really took me through a course of emotions that had me side eying some of my favs, *cough cough* Auty & Set .. The reality that had to set in for Foe Dub is that blood doesn’t make you family and secrets are the easiest way to loose your chosen ones. Foe Dub 4 Life!!

Jessica, you did it again, chefs kiss!

At the start of this book I was very anxious to see how Snow being in Belize would go- of course there was fighting in the beginning but by the end of her rehab there was so much love and the start to understanding for both her & Rico. I thoroughly loved Snow & Rico when they were in their bubble, being lovey dovey and vulnerable with one another. It made me smile that Rico apologized for his wrong doings first which was such a huge step for him. I was nervous about the return to Kenton for them and wow was it a mess!! There were a lot of secrets between foe dub that I could barely keep up during the big secret session (Shoutout to Macy & Peanut for that lol). I hate how Snow and Autumn’s relationship took a turn for the worse, but there had been underlying issues their whole lives that had to be brought to the forefront. Of course I love the found family of this series and def can count this series as one of my faves. Rico def made me fall in love with him because I did not see me liking him. What a finale! 4.5 stars

wynter the coldest EVER really pulled at my heart strings . Haze my girl forever i knew she needed to have that eye opener . Foe Dub Fo’ Life!!!

I fell in love with this series and all of the main characters, flaws and all, from the very first book. Jessica truly did a phenomenal job with this entire series, even the bonus book. It’s so bittersweet knowing we’ve been with these characters since they were kids, and now they’re all grown up, raising families of their own while still working on their growth and healing. Watching their journeys come full circle has been such an experience. This is definitely one of those series that sticks with you long after you’ve finished the last page.

Guys where do I even begin 🥹? One of my favorite series of all time is coming to such a beautiful end.

In part one we learned everything about Rico and Wynters past and now we are back to the present. We get to see Wynters light come back to her while Rico stops fighting feelings he tried to destroy. This finale leaves no loose ends. I laughed, cried, threw my kindle and just had the time of my life being immersed in my favorite place one last time. FOE DUB 4 LIFE & LONG LIVE FREDO 🥹💙❄️

Beautifully done by Jessica! I really love the evolution of Rico and Wyn’s story. I believe their relationship has now made it in my top three of this series with Set/Bri and Reem/YT. I love that Wynter finally stood up with herself with autumn and to learned to be selfish with herself, and to put herself first, although she loves her sister. That ending when Nan told Rico the story regarding his Pooh and mom brought me to the tears. Can’t wait to see what’s next for this author.

When given your all breaks you in more ways than one…. You can’t be everything for everybody.

ARC Review: A-Ma-Zing

This was the perfect closure to this book. I’m so sad it’s ending and I love that Wynnie got her HEA.

This whole series was a page turner and I loved it. Everyone was special in there on unique way and it isn’t until the end your feelings changed for everyone. Jess did amazing with this series.

Can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeves next

The end of an era 🥲 I truly enjoyed this book. All the loose ends and lingering questions a reader may have was answered. On threads the author said there is no need for an epilogue. And I agree. There really wasn’t a need for one. I truly loved how things ended and can’t wait to read her upcoming books.

First things first. Shout out to P Nutty for keeping everyone together and slapping b*tches!!! I’m glad Set got his apologies cause they did play him, but I’m glad they hashed it out. I feel like this was a good way to wrap up south Kenton. There ain’t really much to be said fr. To me, this book was emotionally heavy in the way that a lot of things happened that tugged at me emotionally. In this book it’s like Jessica had to break us just to carefully put the characters and us together again. This was good.
