Where Have You Been?: A Hood Romance

Rate this book
This is a standalone novel with no cliffhangers.

Taija is beautiful and sassy. She has a mouthpiece that she ain't afraid to use, and when she has to, she knows her way around 'laying hands', on somebody.

But there is much more to her.

Abandoned by her mother, and subsequently given away by her grandmother, it's no wonder Taija has anger issues and fears of never being loved the right way. But then she meets Troy, an attentive and extremely attractive man who is ready to love her whole.

Troy is all man. He is strong, yet soft at the same time-when it comes to Taija, that is. He knew when he first met her that he wanted her for himself, but her inability to trust interfered. Now that he has her, he doesn't plan to let her go.

I'm a Bay girl through and through. Even though Oakland has changed exponentially over the years, it's still a place that is "home". I have a love for the city that will never waver.

I've been at this for about 6 years now. Not as consistent as it should have been. But it's 2022 and I do plan to change that. There are way too many stories swimming in my head for me to ignore the calls to be told. So, here I am!

I write urban romance stories. I won't necessarily say that the dudes are thugged-out or anything like that. But I wouldn't call them soft either. They're just who they are and far from perfect. The female leads in my books are flawed, but beautiful... inside and out. I kind of let them come together and tell me the story they want the world to know. At the end of the day, it's about a Black woman getting the love that she deserves, and from a man that truly deserves her.

I can't say that I saw healthy relationships growing up. Because of that, I can't quite claim one of my own. But I do try to map them out in my books in a way that I damn sure wouldn't mind having. You know? And all while telling a story that fits, as well.

this is my first read by Xuri Foxx and I really enjoyed this drama filled short story! Even though Taija and Paris had different mamas and never knew their daddy their bond was so unbreakable and it's a trip how they were so ruthless like their daddy and granny Priscilla; ohhhh grandma smh! My heart went out to Trinity she was born in a situation and she couldn't find a way out! Troy was the man he was crazy about Taija from day 1. I even liked Malik until he did that kiddy stuff and I'm glad Paris was not a sucker for him.

This was a good hood romance. This book was written differently from other novels I have read. I wasn't disappointed and the ending left me with my mouth hanging wide open. Read it for yourself and tell me what you think.

Where do I begin? This was a hood love story like no other. Xuri Foxx definitely broke the mold when she wrote this book filled with love, drama, and suspense. I read both books in one sitting because I could not put it down. The story begins with Taija, a beautiful young girl with a mouth that gets her in trouble. Deep down inside, she harbors resentment for her mother for abandoning her when she was an infant, but she is thankful for the love her grandmother Priscilla has shown her. While hanging out with her sister, she meets and falls for a man named Troy. Troy takes her to meet her family and she comes in contact with none other than Trinity her mother. What happens next is a definite shock to the reader. Part 2 begins with young Trinity, who like many young girls, falls into the trap of having sexual relations early. Unfortunately for her, she becomes pregnant by a man who is obsessed with her. Trinity commits an unthinkable act which, not only leaves her baby fatherless but has her being looked at as a neighborhood pariah. In an act of desperation, Trinity decides to leave her daughter with her mother to be raised. This story is told from Trinity's point of view and gives us an insight into her life after she left Taija with her mother. Although part 1 will make you feel a some type of way about Trinity, you may change your mind after you read part 2. And then, there is Priscilla. The protective grandmother who will do anything to protect those she loves, even kill. If you are an urban fiction fan, this book is a must read. I repeat, a must read. You cannot afford to not read it. This book is like no other urban book you have ever read. Trust me when I say this. Support Xuri Foxx and read Where Have You Been? today.

Different in a good way

Although the title doesn't really fit the book in ma personal opinion it was a pretty good read. It did take a little getting used to in the beginning. The point of view kept switching before the main characters were even established. It does jump right into the drama though. That Priscilla isn't a joke boy. She does not play about hers, she goes super hard. Glad that Taija was able to find peace and happiness with Troy. Hoped that things would have worked out between Paris and Malik, but you can't win them all. It would have been nice for him to at least check his sister for disrespecting Paris though. I mean it's not like she was with David knowing about Melinda. I mean once she found out she put his dumb behind on blast. Instead of being mad at Paris she should have been upset with herself for not heeding the warnings that everyone was giving her about David.

Juicy

Taija is a strong woman, but her childhood was rough especially how she came into the world. The product of rape she was never wanted by her mother or grandmother. Priscilla raised taija and did a good job. Paris is their for her little sister but she's hiding a secret. Troy and taija click instantly an it's so cute.Malik an Paris click as well but a secret from her past with hurt them later on. Troy taking taija to meet his uncle gets the shock of her life when she sees her mother. Priscilla will have shocked at her secrets. Great read no doubt.

Not bad…

From the beginning, I wanted Trinity to win even with her slipping a bit with the guy, Terri not so much. The story didn’t have too much going on and the relationship with Taiji and Malik, we didn’t get much out of it developing so that took away from he read. The situation with David and Paris was good at first but for her to flip up an be all scared was backwards.

Then for him to do the same to Malina and for her to flip and it not be explained was off. I was going to read the next one but I don’t care where or what Trinity had going on seeing that I know the ending.

A Lot of Unanswered Questions

I love standalones, I actually prefer them to cliffhangers however make sure the book is long enough to cover everything. I think the book should have been longer that way the ending would not have been rushed. That's really my only complaint other than that the book was well written the story was interesting and held my attention and I really enjoyed the story I was just expecting more when I got to the end.

Very Good

It certainly was a thriller. I was so surprised by grandma Priscilla. I really got pissed off with Malik over Paris. The story will keep you interested and willing to read until the end. I'm glad that Ms.T met a good man in Troy but I don't like it when these young ladies have babies without even considering marriage. The love scenes were realistic but no contraceptives was messed up. Finally I would like to know what happened to trinity but isn't it too late.

Where Have You Been

Taija had a rough up bringing. She was just trying to find the love that her parents didn't give her. Glad when Troy entered her life. Priscilla gave Taija all the love she needed.

Priscilla!

Good read!I liked the twist in the story! I especially liked that the story ended with no multiple parts, waiting months to read the conclusion, only to forget what I read at first! So great job to the author! Iwill be looking for future works.

Omg... What did I just read

This was by far the worst book I've read... I'm still confused, nothing was answer, there wasn't any description of nothing or no one... Every story line jump from one to the next! Nobody story was completed like wtf! Very disappointed

Good read..Priscilla held many secrets...Troy was good to show up in Taija's life to help relieve her negative issues--they were meant for each other.

Good read

Kind of slow at first but actually turned out to be a good book. Although it doesn't say there will be a part 2 there needs to be one to many loose ends.

Family

Never would've expected that from the ending. This is a true love story. Some parts were boring. But good book.
