Part of "Summer Bigger Than Others - A Summer Anthology" from Beaten Track Publishing.
I've read very little lesbian romance, so I judge according to what I know, and I know this is a gorgeous story. Quinn, bless her - love her whole inner lament about working with idiots. It's so cynical and an obvious sign of burning out. But instead of doing that, she rides a roller coaster. What a great de-stresser!
The connection between the two main characters is smouldering - no on-page sex, but the build up is there, and of course the emotional 'roller coaster' is woven intricately throughout the plot, right from the opening scene with the idiots, through the exhilaration of the ride and meeting Sarah, the intimacy of sharing secrets and spending the night, to the HEA.

Quinn is a successful business woman with a history of short relationships. She believes she doesn’t have time for a long term relationship, and that no woman will want to deal her since she is married to her work. Then Quinn meets Sarah while waiting in line for a roller coaster. The two women hit it off almost immediately, but the problem is that Quinn is only in town for four days on a business trip. She feels like she is falling for Sarah, but she believes nothing can come of it because she will soon have to return to her work. It takes being separated from Sarah for Quinn to finally wake up and realize that the pain she is feeling is due to being in love.
Roller Coaster is a sweet, romantic, and moving story. Not everyone can pull off insta-love, but when these two women met, it was like fire crackers going off. I wanted them to sail away into the sunset, but then Quinn’s practical side kicked in to pull them off track. Though I wasn’t fond of the complete absence of sex, the romance was very strong and brought tears to my eyes. I recommend this story to anyone who loves reading f/f romance with an emotional happily ever after.
Roller Coaster, is a tale of impulse and taking risks; daring yourself to step out of your comfort zone. I also think its a tale of love at first sight. Quinn is successful in her career but never in her personal life, fearful of rejection she tries to keep herself detached. However while away on a work assignment, a trip to the fair brings into her sights Sarah; a beautiful, charismatic and fiery young woman who wants to take her on a wild roller coaster ride. This is a sweet tale about overcoming fear. Quinn is afraid of being rejected, abandoned and let down. Putting her trust in another human being, especially trusting them with something as fragile as her heart and her love is terrifying for her. However her feelings for Sarah, that are overwhelming almost instantly, start break down her barriers shes put up for so long.
This is a sweet short story of romance and summer love that leaves you with a smile on your face and in your heart.
