Cyborg #2

Intact

Rate this book
A world on edge...

The “Cyborg” team has kept one eye glued to the unrest inside the A.I. community for some time. Each member understands the ramifications of a revolt. If war is declared, they could find themselves on the opposite side of the law. One tiny detail changes Miles’ stance. Solving the case he’s worked since meeting Alexia could be the deciding factor. Left with no other choice, Miles orders his second in command to move to plan ‘B’—Dr. Kiston Beck.

A woman caught in the middle...

Kiston has stood with the Androids since her teenage years. Her inside knowledge of Cryo-Zone—an all-droid community—could mean the difference between a war lost or won. Convincing her to go against all she believes to be right is another matter.
Kiston has no idea what the Cybernetics Agency thinks she possesses. There hasn’t been a human alive who cared to hear her opinion in years. The one detail she’s absolutely sure about is that they sent the wrong team member if they hoped to seduce the information from her.
Cyborg Two is every woman’s dream. His wide shoulders, alpha ways and smoldering glances leave her breathless. Unfortunately, his biggest flaw is one too many for Kiston. He believes she’s crazy.

But is it too late?

After a botched kidnapping, a concussion and near-death experience, can Miles and his team still convince Kiston to join them, or will their brand of friendship end up destroying the world?

When an author can concoct a fantasy world out of the wistfulness of her own imagination, put out-of-the-realm characters into place, plus add some super spicy sex into the mix, that’s the book I want to be reading.
Charity Parkerson is one of the most talented authors I’ve read, and an award winner that brings her stories home. Her books always hit me right in the gullet, not to mention my ‘other parts’.
Please read on as I quote Ms. Parkerson regarding the latest book I’ve had the pleasure to read.
Intact: Cyborg Two:
“The Cyborg team has kept on eye glued to the unrest inside the A.I community for some time. Each member understands the ramifications of a revolt. If war is declared, they could find themselves on the opposite side of the law.”
“Dr. Kiston Beck has stood with the Androids since her teenage years. Her inside knowledge of Cryo-Zone – an all-droid community – could mean the difference of a war lost or won. Convincing her to go against all she believes to be right is another matter.”
This passage is in the beginning of the story, and if this isn’t enough to hook you like it did me, let me share how much I love looking her scrumptious and oh-so erotic covers. The men on each of the books I’ve read are so sexy and put lesser movie stars to shame.
Always a delight to imagine any of the author’s cover models in a most intimate… well, never mind, you get the idea, I’m sure. Ms. Parkerson’s cover guys are characters in her books, so I’ve always an image to look forward to when I find the male character gracing the covers of her books.
Since I don’t review and tell (that is, give spoiler alerts), I strongly urge you to purchase, enjoy, and salivate over Intact: Cyborg Two. The male characters are beings you’d love to know much better in the coziest of ways, the female characters you’ll want as your new best girlfriends.
All in all, a honey of a sci-fy, erotic tale, and one that you won’t want to miss! I liked the story so much, I read it twice!

3.5 stars, this book was all over the place! The story idea is a good one, very Rise of the Machines, which gives it an apocalyptic feel. The MC's from the last book don't star quite as heavily in this one, mostly its Kiston and Sim (MF), and a decent amount of Dez and Rem (MM). This author writes a lot of erotica so there is plenty of that in this story, personally I like the other bits better, the romance and storyline. Kiston is a firecracker, a redhead who alienates all those around her but is very into her work. Sim is the quintessential tough guy, part human, more machine, hero with a tortured past, etc. I found Kiston a little tough to like to be honest, but she's not bad, and I liked her more in the last part of the story. The bit about the struggle between her and Sims relationship was uneven, their reasons why they couldn't be together changed every five minutes. And just when I think they are going to get together, Kiston goes 'oh yeah, he thinks I'm crazy, so it’s a no go'. To be fair, Sim did have a decent reason for thinking it since he was tortured for it, but it was a bit of a stretch.

I really liked Dez and Rem's story but there wasn't as much of it. Would have liked more time with them. BUT!! One of the things this author did that frustrated me was she kept changing the game. The reasons why Dez and Rem didn't get together kept changing. And just when we think we have the real reason ANOTHER grand reveal, and tah-da, turns out there's the REAL reason, disregarding the earlier 'fake' big reveal. Gah! So it’s not because you didn't want to jeopardize the friendship, and its not because you weren't aware of the others feelings, and its not because...why? Ugh, too many Scooby-doo endings. But the final plot twist did play into the bigger story and I'm not sure how I feel about it but I like these guys so I'll let it go.

Also, the author did a little bit too good of a job as painting them as machine like-I had a hard time imagining some of the scenes, I kept hearing the clunks and thunks in my head every time one of the couples 'slammed' into the other in the heat of passion!

Lastly, some of the thoughts and pronouns and conversations were not always clearly ascribed to a character. Very often there were convo's when I had to try to go back and figure out who was speaking. And which 'him' was which! Confusing, but not a deal breaker. Looking forward to the next book, at the end of this one Zephyr made some surprising revelations and became an integral part of the revolution. I'm interested to see what comes next!

a HOT-HOT romance between a equal-rights activist for AI/intelligent computers and a cyborg bodyguard secretly guarding her. Also a simultaneous romance between two male cyborgs that was heartwrenching and very lovely. And also a continuation between the previous book's hero/heroine. Love scenes were well done & hot, the romance was good, and characters were likable. Plus some political intrigue, and a developing revolution. SIGN ME UP!! I want more.
Issues: I would've liked more buildup detail on him surveillancing her, or how she wasn't able to detect it, surrounded as she is with friendly AI (artificial intelligence) creatures. Also more detail on them. Maybe in a future edit???

Series: I very much enjoyed this tiny little series about cyborgs, and would love more!!! I'd love more hetero MF (80-90%), and a few more gay-dudes MM. (Although this book's mix was just fine!!).
Author: please list books by genre & sex-genre too, sci-fi, MM or MF or ?? It seems some of the other series are all MM? (Throw us hetero ladies a bone!!)
Author did a fantastic job with the MM-Romance, even though I'm not the target audience, and I did really relate to the heartache & drama of their romance & HOT love scenes.

This book makes me wonder why love is always so hard. If we spoke the truth we could solve many stupid problems. But maybe the truth have to wait, to mature. If spoken too soon, the people might not be ready to listen, to hear. Which brings me to the second musing this book brings forth. We fight and argue trying to change eachother, saying it's because they don't accept you for who you are. Reality is that we come together as different people and the only way to live together, is to embrace eachothers differences. Not making excuses about not being accepted because they don't believe the same as you do.

I loved 💞 this book very much! It really struck a cord with me. It was three great love stories blended into one. Of course it was also steamy enough to cause heat flashes and a severe craving for chocolate.

I highly recommend this series as well as the authors other books. Her writing never disappoint. 💞💞💞

Could not put it down!

I don't even know where to begin! There is so much going on here and it is powerful! The characters are amazing and complicated. The struggles make you feel and understand them so much better it's like you know them personally. And there is so much love pouring out of each of them it makes you feel like your heart is going to explode from it. The story line just seems to get better as it goes along. I had a few of those OH! moments when things started to piece together. I don't know how Charity Parkerson can top this book it is that good.

This one is so much better than the first short taste in the prior book, in fact I would recommend getting the combo of 1 and 2 to actually make a good read.

Fantastic! On to book 3.

(Comment I left on book 1)
My first read by this author but I read books 1 and 2 back to back. I can hardly wait to read book 3 but I am so troubled by this book's low rating I felt it necessary to comment immediately. This is not my first cyborg story and in comparison, this one does not deserve under 4 stars.

Cheers

This book was good, but I knocked a point off it because it and the personal lives of most of the characters were just so very sad. I actually had a bit of an emotional meltdown at one point and felt horrible from too many tears most of the day. In the end, everyone found their HEA, but it took too much out of me. In this story, Cyborg Two, who has renamed himself Sim U. Lation (loved the humor) kidnaps Dr. Kiston Beck in order to get her to agree to come with the other cyborgs and figure out if there is going to be a revolution by the 'droids. Their immediate attraction is only the start of the problems for Sim. There is also a subplot romance between two of the other cyborgs (M/M romance). The group retreats to a compound in the Dead Zone, a place in the arctic that is protected from attack. We get to see a bit more of Miles and Sarah from book 1, which is nice. I liked both Sim and Kiston, but found their personal pasts very difficult to deal with. Also, an interesting plot teaser at the end where lots of cyborgs turn up to the compound at the end as the revolution starts. Could there be more in the series? I'm hoping so. I do recommend it, just be forewarned you'll shed a few tears before you're done.

Sim and the others seemed more human in this book. Not sure if that was the author's intent, but I often forgot they were suppose to be cyborgs. LOVED DEZ & REM

I can see how this series can turn post-apocolyptic and I hope it goes on to book 3 and introduce us to some of the new cyborgs.
