Koda Bishop is a businessman with a singular run his family hotel. Love was the last thing on his mind, but watching his older brother fall in love has Koda wondering if he'll ever have the same thing for himself.
Love and loss shape Avalon Jackson's view on happily ever after. A getaway to decompress quickly turns into questions of forever when she encounters Koda Bishop.
The chemistry between them is off the charts, but both Koda and Avalon are apprehensive about what they're feeling. Will they give in to the undeniable connection, or realize love isn't for them?
(3.5⭐️) This was a cute story. I loved how intentional Koda was with Avalon. I was nervous when the book opened that he was going to be on some fuck shit, but nope. 😂 He had an interest, expressed it, and was patient and intentional in his pursuit of Avalon. I never quite understood why he was so relationship-averse when he grew up surrounded by love. His close relationship with his family was definitely one of the things that made him so endearing.
My heart initially went out to Avalon. Love after loss is one of my favorite micro-tropes, and I think her hesitance about moving on made perfect sense. I will say, though, she had a couple of moments that frustrated me. She allowed comments from outsiders to get in her head and affect her feelings instead of trusting her own intuition and, more importantly, Koda’s actions.
Still, this was a sweet, low-drama romance with a couple who genuinely liked and cared for each other. I really hope we get a Karma/Asiah or Jacoby/Diamond book at some point because I’m definitely invested in those two potential pairings.
This was such a cute love story & I would love to see more of them after their “I love you” ! The ways Koda was so intentional when going about courting and showing up for Ava was everything. I’m glad he was able to speak to her heart about finding love after loss and not letting it deter him.
Soleli is definitely one of those authors that give you healthy black love stories with minimal drama and I love it !
Koda was a real one. He kept things a little too honest with Avalon. The chemistry was not lacking and I loved their conversations. It was being open and respectful to each other. Setting the expectations up front. I would say that was because of the maturity of the characters.
At this point I think I've read the majority if not all of Soleil's catalog. This is the only one that I feel fell a little short.
While I loved Koda and Avalon together, the ending was a bit flat to me and I wanted more.
Koda and his brother were so much alike but also very different. Koda was a hit it and quit it type of guy who refused to commit to anyone. He was handsome, wealthy and had an amazing career. He came from a two parent, close knit family where his father and mother cherished and loved on each other, but he still didn't see that for himself. Until Kairo settled down and now all eyes were on him.
Avalon was still grieving the death of her boyfriend when she visited Koda's hotel on the one year anniversary of his passing. Koda was immediately drawn to her wanting nothing more than to take away the sadness he saw in her eyes.
What began as a chance encounter, turned into so much more. Once they got to know each other better and see all that they had in common, they figured fate had brought them together.
Even with the drama that tried to come their way, these two allowed their hearts to guide their actions and eventually made it work. But baby when they finally became sexual? Whewww chile. Koda ain't to be played with but neither is Avalon!
This one was spicy and super cute but entirely too short in my opinion. They deserved more.
I enjoyed Koda and Avalon’s love story. Koda showed her she could have love after loss and he found that with the right woman, a man will change his ways and do everything in his power to get and keep her.
There were times Avalon frustrated me with her lack of communication when something bothered her, but I appreciated that Koda didn’t immediately force her to tell him what was wrong but also didn’t allow too much time to go by without addressing the issue.
These two were cute together and matched each others energy and love languages. I thought it was cute they shared the same birthday and had the same car, but in different colors. Their gifts to each other were thoughtful and showed their appreciation for the other.
Koda had never been in a relationship and Avalon was still grieving the death of her boyfriend. Koda was very patient with Avalon and all she had gone through, however, Avalon did get on my nerves with letting other people get in her head. I'm glad that Koda didn't give up on Avalon, and she finally came to realize that it was time to move on and find love again. Once they committed to each other, I loved how they enhanced and supported one another's lives. I enjoyed everything about Diamond, Avalon's cousin, because she was there for Avalon through good times and bad. I'm happy that they found a girlfriend group with Koda's sister and sister-in-law. This is definitely a feel-good book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
This was so effortlessly written and so good. It just a feel good story. Who says a man can’t or won’t change for who he wants to? Sometimes it just takes the right woman to pull it out of him. Koda was a player in ever sense of the word but never led women on. He wasn’t against love but couldn’t find the one until he met Avalon and couldn’t stop thinking of her. They moved pretty fast but others felt the need to discourage her and discredit him causing Ava to fall back due to her past relationship. He finally had found happiness and refused to let go of the one he decided to give his heart to. He assured her she was safe with him and the only one to have Kona’s Love!
I love a woman who can bring a man to his knees. Make him stop his hoe phase. Have him throwing away his black book. Opening her heart to space after a tragic loss. Admitting her insecurities to tha man that has made her smile reappear. That's Avalon!
I also love a man who can put a smile on a women's face and keep it there. A man who will work hard to capture the eyes, trust, and love of the woman he loves. That's Koda!
I enjoyed seeing the journey of these two, even though they had some obstacles to overcome, before admitin their love for each other.
Koda is for the streets until he meets Avalon! It’s something about her that draws him in and won’t release him. Avalon is just beginning to come out of the trenches of grief when she meets Koda. She gives him a chance and it’s the best decision she’s ever made. Once that man decided that he wanted Avalon it was a wrap. This was a beautiful love after grief romance.
I am not a fan of overly descriptive, step by step writing. Ex: he walked me to the passenger side, opened the door, made sure I was secured, closed the car door, walked around to the driver side, opened the door, sat down, fastened his seatbelt….. That’s certainly not a direct quote from the book. There were overly descriptive, step by step moments that upset me and my anxiety.
This book captured my attention from the beginning. It is well written with good characters. It is also relatable, emotional and funny in some areas. I love Ava and Koda together. I'm glad that the outside forces did not succeed in changing Ava's mind. Some people seem to think there is a timeline for grief, but there is no time line. Everyone is different and move at their own pace. Thank you, Soleil, for a great story.
Such a cute and quick read. Koda was such a player but when he crossed paths with Avalon, homeboy was ready to burn his player card! I was expecting just a tab bit more conflict because of Koda’s player like ways but nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed their story. I’m interested in Diamond and Jacoby’s story. Diamond about to give Jacoby hell and he might just deserve it lol.
Koda and Avalon, like the car, are too cute! I loved his little nickname for her. Koda met Avalon by chance at a time where she wasn’t feeling her best! I love that he asked her to do the event planning for the business. That allowed them to grow closer. They were just right for each other. I love their family and even their friends. Great story!
The right woman can make a man change his mind, and his way of living. Koda was a player, and didn't believe in relationships, but all that changed once he spotted Avalon in the restaurant.
Koda felt something that he never had. He knew that Ava was the one.
Can't wait to see what Karma and Diamond find their happily ever after.
It was a beautiful book I love how Koda and Ava found love. They were the perfect couple. They had to go through things to get back to them. This is the type of book that can help pull you through after reading a heavy book. I would recommend the book
I really enjoyed this story. It was a cute love story between these two people. I enjoy how the story didn't sugar coat the trauma that Avalon experienced. Open communication is always the key to successful relationships.
A cute story of love found and returned ❤️❤️❤️ A little 🎭 “Wench” aka “Wanch” 😂😂😂 I did want to see the other characters in a little epilogue or something 🤔🫣
It's a great live story. I love Koda & Avalon. It was refreshing to see a loving, kind, and supportive family on both sides! I would like to see where Jacoby and Diamond go along with Koda sister Karma, then I would see the wedding of Koda and Avalon.
When a man knows, he knows. Koda met Avalon and was ready to be the man she deserved. Although I hated how she let outsiders get in her head, I’m happy they worked it out and they both got their HEA.
Koda was very patient with Avalon but she almost talked herself out of something good. Liked how the two of them built their connection and friendship. Would like to see what happens with Karma and Asiah, and Diamond and Jacoby.
Koda and Avalon were true soul mates. Avalon suffer real trauma with finding her long time boyfriend dead. Koda had never had a real relationship or feelings to a woman. Initially he did not know what to do. I loved the way you bought all of this together. I hope we get a Diamond and Jocoby story.
Koda was out here living his best life until Avalon breezed her way into his hotel's restaurant. Koda was the perfect example of when a man knows he knows and will move differently. He put in the work to make Avalon his. Unfortunately some raggedy people almost ruined it by making her think that she didn't deserve to move past grief and find love again. I'm glad she got over that and moved on with her happily ever after.
