Letters to Matt

Rate this book
Some people work their whole lives to have it all.

“I think it goes without saying that I miss you. So much that some days it feels like my heart might stop beating from it.”

Some people search for that one thing that will complete them.

“I wake up in the middle of the night and I can’t breathe knowing
you aren’t next to me.”

Some people have it all ripped away in the blink of an eye.

“I don’t know how people deal with this kind of loss.”

And some people find solace in their own special way.

“I know I can’t have a future with you, but I’m beyond grateful for the past we shared.”

Letters to Matt is a thought provoking and emotional roller coaster of a read that will capture your heart forever. Jaden is a young woman who wakes up in the hospital having to face the impossible thought of devastating loss. Throughout this outstanding story, Jaden finds strength by writing letters to her fiancé and love of her life. Tara Lin Mossinghoff does an outstanding job of creating characters that capture your heart and your imagination. This is one book that will hook you from the bevy and not let go. There will be tears and laughter, but most of all there will be an understanding of love, family, and friendship.

Most heart felt book I have ever read!!!

I knew this book was going to make me cry when I read the teaser, but I didn't know it was going to be so life changing.

I would say that this novel is a very sweet YA Romance. Jaden and Matt meet each other in high school and they fall in love. Then, they get pregnant! The couple has so much love and support from family and friends. Matt steps up to the responsibility of fatherhood, gets an apt, and they get engaged. The couple makes the best of a difficult situation and they are happy. Then, they are in a terrible car accident.

I loved the way we learn of their love story through the letters that Matt wrote Jaden. Tara wrote a beautifully written story of growing to overcome grief and other life's obstacles such as raising a child. I loved the ending <3<3<3

I'm so glad Tara wrote this book. This story left me with an appreciation for the little things in life. I realized that I have things I don't want to miss out on and I have much to be thankful for.

First things first, writing a book is an amazing feat. It takes a whole heap of dedication and hard work. Anyone who can do it I admire. I applaud Tara for being brave.

Tara created lovely sweet characters in Matt and Jaden. They get together whilst very young and tragedy strikes. The book deals with how Jaden survives following the devastation of losing Matt. The letters are written to him after she loses him to try to get over her heart break and move on for the sake of her family.

The subject of post natal depression is explored in the book. I found some inconsistencies in the way Jaden reacted but maybe I was looking too deeply into it.

Twist at the end will leave you feeling satisfied.

I have no idea where to start this review, when Tara first started mentioning this book to me
I was nervous about the story but i had faith in Tara and trusted that she would do this story justice. Well she went above and beyond my wildest expectations.
Letters to Matt is an emotional rollercoaster and I won't lie I spent 3/4 of the book crying happy and sad tears, I yelled and I screamed but most of all I fell in love and not only with matt and Jaden. The secondary characters are some of the most amazing characters I have ever read and they just draw you in.
I know the blurb may have some of you nervous but don't be, this book has to be read.

Grab a box of tissues and some comfort food and read this amazing book. What a beautiful and sweet story this is. I loved this book and it was very well written. I'm very new to this author and wasn't sure what to expect and let me just say that I am now a fan of hers. The way she described the shock, grief, and depression that occurs with losing someone was beyond perfect and so real. I have been through this as well and wow she did not miss a beat. She covered the not being able to breathe due to shock and sadness wonderfully. Also I fully appreciated the blurriness she mentioned that Jaden, the main female, felt right after suffering this loss. This is a very real and genuine occurrence that happens with a sudden loss. The characters i this book were wonderful, fresh, and fun. I admire Jaden's excellent support team of friends and family as she was so lucky to have them. Many times, right from the start, I wanted to give Jaden a hug and make her pain disappear. This poor sweet girl is much stronger than she knows and it was amazing seeing her grow, become even stronger and confident. And Mandy, her best friend, was such a loveable and fun character, even reminded me of me and my two best friends. It is always fun being able to relate to a character as I did with Jaden and Mandy. And the two children were just adorable and full of personality. Excellent book!

The story starts with Jaden being in a bad car accident and ending up in the hospital. When she wakes up she is very confused as to where she is and why. Being that she has been in a hospital bed recovering for days, Jaden's family and friends are worried about her state of mind and health issues and aren't sure how to tell her what happened. She is smart enough to feel this and start worrying. She keeps asking for Matt, her fiance, yet he is nowhere around and won't be anymore. Mandy, Jaden's best friend, is such a fun, spunky, and loveable character. Jaden is so lucky to have her love, friendship, and support, especially in this tough time. Matt's mother and Jaden's mother were very loving, sweet, and genuinely loved her. This unconditional love gave me the good warm fuzzy feeling of content and happiness for Jaden as she needed them now more than ever. Luckily she gets to lean on both of them throughout the whole book and this made me happy. If only everyone had this kind of true and loving support team imagine what we could all accomplish. This book was excellent and beautiful. It truly portrayed unconditional love in a sweet, emotional, and raw way. Plus it had the perfect amount of humor in it to keep things lighter and fun. Wonderful job Tara Mossinghoff please keep writing books and i will keep buying them.

An emotional roller coaster to the very end. The ups and downs of love and loss and then THAT??? Anyone who has read it, knows what that is and I am not going to write spoilers. I am just going to tell everyone who is reading this review right now, if you have not read this yet, get it. If you like emotional roller coasters, then you will love this story.

This author had me and held onto me from page one. Which is hard for a Gemini because we get easily distracted. I want to read everything by this author now. My one click finger is warmed up now.

This novel is the definition of an emotional roller coaster ride, but it's so damn beautiful.

Following Jaden through life after losing her one true love is heart breaking and gratifying all in the same breath.
Tara really shows you, that despite the horror of a love lost too soon, you can still live on, and find happiness.

I'm giving this story 4.5 stars, because of the glaring errors I found. If you're not a nut like me, it's possible you won't even notice them :)

I highly recommend this unconventional love story, and every emotion it brings out.

This is the first book by Tara I have read and damn...I was warned it was an emotional book and I would need some tissues. It turned out I needed my first one by page five!

Jaden and Matt are only 18 but were blessed to find the love of their life in the ninth grade. They also found the best of friends and lucky enough to have a very supportive set of parents. When they found out they were going to be parents after Graduation, they thought it through and had a plan until the night they went to get some chocolate ice cream with sprinkles...

Jaden is now 18 and a single parent. She could easily have given up on her future, given her daughter away and hid away from everyone in her life. She didn't. She knew she had to make Matt proud of her. She had to live for her daughter, it would not always be easy but Jaden is stronger than she believes.

This book goes back and forth between Jaden's memories of her and Matt's life together and the present. It's about how an 18 year old mother can survive the loss of the love of her life with the love and support of family and friends. How her daughter keeps her going...

I don't want to get into anymore than that but will say that it was an emotional and sweet ride about life, death, friendship, love and family. The letters got to me the most, something about handwritten letters that make your heart swell even more.

Quotes:

It still feels like there’s a void in my chest, but I know this is the first step that I need to take.

The best things in life require the most effort, and it’s always worth it in the end.

“I wasn’t alone. I had you. You were better than any man. My whole life was about taking care of you.”

Letters to Matt. I can't even explain how this book made me feel. First of all, be prepared with so many tissues ready because tears are a must. My poor heart. I'm at a loss for words. Matt and Jaden were the epitome of how high school sweethearts fall in love and stay in love. Their love was beautiful and just sweet right from their first meeting. Matt was the type of character women search high and low for. I mean, who wouldn't love a guy who wrote you letters every morning just to tell you how much they love you. And Jaden. She was kind, shy and just a delight. Which is what made them perfect for each other. I can't begin to imagine life without the love of your life, the one you planned your future with and the other half of your child. I felt every single ounce of pain and tears that were expressed in this book. Love is powerful and also painful. This is where those lifelong friendships step in. They're built up and made stronger with every challenge. To help remind you that each day gets easier, that you will never lose the love and support they have for you. This novel was based on life after a tragic loss, that you're never alone when you have your loved ones, love is never lost but gained as well as kept, and that the ending of the book can totally make you want to warn the author to go in Witness Protection. Wonderful book, Tara. My heart goes out to you for writing a gut-wrenching novel. Stunning.

This is one story that is filled with emotions. You will need to keep the tissues handy not only for the sad parts, but for the heartfelt moments as well. Tara did an amazing job at pulling at your heartstrings while creating characters that are easy to love. Letters To Matt is well written, the story flows and you feel as if you are friends with these people, caught up in their lives alongside them. Your heart will be ripped open only to be put back together again in the best of ways. I recommend this one!
**Jaden has to face her life without her one and only, raising a baby on her own. She has to learn to move forward and continue living, if not for herself, for her and Matt's daughter, Sophie. With her friends and family banding together around her, Will Jaden be able to live the best possible life? Or will losing Matt be too much for her to handle? Her healing begins with her Letters To Matt, find out what happens!

ive had this book on my kindle a while now and ive had it on my goodreads even longer now im kicking myself for not picking this book up sooner. it pulls you in from the start and its a rollercoaster ride from there. im not keen on flash backs in a book. sometimes they arent necessary but this book wouldnt be the book it is without them. they tie in really well with the book. the flash backs are current with the now part of the story. i loved the writing of this story its writen with emotion. the story is beautiful and you will be needing tissues and plenty. the characters oh wow they make this book what it is. if i could give this book more than 5*s i would as it deserves a hell of a lot more. this is my first book my this author and it wont be my last. now if you havent read this book you defo need to do it as assp.

I received this book on behalf of A kiss down under book blog for an honest review

I really don't have words to describe how this book made me feel. The emotions were so conflicting on so many levels, but I do say say this in a good way. The author was able to take a devastating story and make it a outstanding read. Jaden becomes a single mum after a tragic car accident takes the life of her fiancé and the father of her unborn child. The story takes you through Jaden learning to cope with the loss and the ups and downs of trying to move on and raise her baby on her own. She does this by penning letters to him. I loved this book, it was a great original story to read and it was very well written. I look forward to reading more of this authors work!

This is the first book that I have read from this author. Sadly it didn't make me want to read more from her. I read so many good things about this book and couldn't wait to get started on it. It starts right off from the get go with the tragedy of her losing Matt, but I must say it didn't get interesting from there on. Also I thought that the ending sucked. If I had known that it was ending that way I never would have read this book. I am the type that if I start a book, no matter what, I always finish it. What a waste of my time.

I promise you that you will not put this book down until the very end! Just beautiful!

This is a difficult book to review. For a few reasons. One, I really enjoyed the author's style and voice, and felt the character development was phenomenal, so much so that I couldn't believe I hadn't heard about her yet. Second, there were some inconsistencies in Jaden and her family that just didn't make sense in the overall scope of the story. But last, and most importantly........

This was my 1st book by Tara. I enjoyed it. I cried over the death of Matt and I usually do not cry over a book. The way her friends and family stuck by her was fantastic it shows that when there is a loss people will be there for you. The only reason I gave it a 4 was because I felt it needed more letters to Matt that is all other than that the book was great. *ARC won for honest review*

Prepare for needed tissues from page one to end. What amazing love story of a woman who has lost most of everything she has loved. Hayden is one of the most courageous book heroines I have read in a long time. I commend her for her fight and strength. I don't want to spill this beans because simply you need to read. You also need to buy a couple of boxes of tissues.

AMAZING..

It's a love story like no other. It saddened me to read about the loss of a loved one. The pain and sorrow one goes through.
It goes to show that true love is only felt once. A love so fierce no other can replace.
With tears in my eyes I must say goodbye to Jaden and Matt.
It's beautifully written. I loved it.
