Whew... Phase two ain't for the weak huh? 🤣 Alise seemingly has it all together but continually gets in her own way! 👀😤 She wants a male companion but can't and won't believe that they will conduct themselves as mature men. 🤯 When she meets Carter, she finds a handsome man that has his ish together, but she is already looking for the other shoe to drop! 🤬
Carter wasn't necessarily looking for a woman, but meeting Alise changes his mind. He is older and wiser now, understanding what it takes to be a good partner to the right woman. However, this woman that he is falling for at her big age of forty-five has some real immature behaviors! 😮👀 Alise rubbed me the wrong way jumping to conclusions on multiple occasions, when all she had to do was talk to the man! 🤬 Enjoyed the read, nonetheless.
Yes ma'am, I will take Carter Whitlock for $200 Alex. I am in my Phase Two era, and let me tell you it is hard out here for women my age. These men are straight trash ass ninjas. All they want is women in their 20's calling them Zaddy. F@#$ out of here with that foolery. I am a grown ass woman looking for a grown ass man.
Carter definitely fits the bill. For a minute, I thought Alise was going to lose her good thing because she wasn't fully healed. Carter walked away for four days without communication to let her stew in her shiggity. She realized that she was wrong on all fronts, but refused to apologize. It wasn't until Carter called for her to get some act right. I get it, but what women my age need to stop doing is holding the next man accountable for what the last man did. It's hard, but it needs to be done.
This was a fantastic read. I really enjoy books about older people in their second, third, fourth, and so on phases of life.
Natisha said on her IG that this is for readers who are 35+ or in that next phase of life and she never lied! Now, I’m not 35 yet but chile I this story is so realistic and relatable especially if you are starting over or wanting to do something new in life. Alise is someone who is doing my her thing, not worried about a man but doesn’t have a problem getting one. Carter is disciplined, hard working and a real man. These two together are your auntie and uncle who always together and look fly together lol. This story was so good and I love me some Carter 🥰
Foremost, this book was bitter sweet. “Phase Two” is the second or third urban/contemporary fiction book was older couples. Mid forty’s is a start, but FYI Melanated Author’s you can do better. Baby boomers have their own stories to share, want/need representation too 🤷🏾♀️‼️Thereafter, although I like the potential of Alise & Carter. Alise on paper was a catch. However, in reality though Alise is a clown. She’s been perpetrating the fraud to her ex husband, children, friends & or perspective suitors. Yet she’s juvenile, jealous & petty🥴👀🤨. Alise, your preliminary AARP black card is suspended until further notice 🤭‼️
Phase 2 was awesome. Alise almost lost a great man. Just like so many of us, we get hurt and keep that guard up and look for the ball to drop at any minute. Just as Alise did jumped to conclusions and cut communication before trying to figure out was going on, is when we sit and realize he's not calling. Got her sitting home drinking and sulking and saying I miss my man. Lol. Carter wasn't about no games and must say he showed that over and over. Now Lauren husband was a total punk and I was glad she finally got to together and moved passed his trifling a$$.
"Date. Fall in love. Get married. Have kids. Live happily ever after." We've all heard the script, but Natisha Raynor completely flips the narrative in Phase Two.
This book is fierce, relatable, and unapologetically for anyone entering the second half of life whose desires have outgrown the traditional fairytale. It dives deep into what happens when you have to rewrite your own rules and discover that your best chapters are still ahead of you.
Captivating from the very first page to the last—do yourself a favor and add this to your reading list immediately!
I needed this book so bad… because, divorce! I loved every word Natisha wrote! Alise and Carter were perfect for each other! And both were bosses in their own ways after divorce. Alise almost fumbled the bag tho! Carter said “You couldn’t be a grown ass woman and ask me what was going on. You straight blocked me. No questions asked. Nah, you not ready for a nigga like me. You need to go heal.” I screamed!!! But it all worked out!!! Thankful for this feel good quick read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Alise and Carter are both divorced parents who are walking into their next phase of life.
Carter recognizes his shortfalls as a husband and is determined not to make the same mistakes.
Abuse is weary of the things she experienced e with her ex and is wondering if Carter is too good to be true.
Carter refuses to take the blame for men of her past and let's her know this. Events happen that put them in each other space with another opportunity to get it right.
This was a breadth of fresh air after the last book I read. Carter and E were polar opposites. One was a middle age man that matured, kept it respectful but didn’t rush to settle down until he found the right woman. While other was stuck in immature ways trying to hide his insecurities.
Alise was guarded due to past hurt and almost lost a good man because she had a hard time trusting. She was big enough to apologize.
Carter and Alise together made quite the pair. I enjoyed their journey.
Yeeeesssssssss! This was absolutely spectacularly done. As a lady in phase two of her life, just not as far out as Alise was from her previous phase, this was beautiful. I loved so many things about the emotional maturity, the calculations of the situations, the flow of the phase storytelling. I normally like "complete" endings, but with this one, I was very happy about the open ending. The stark contrast between Carter and E and their grown men conversations. I'm so inspired to do a few things differently in this phase. Thank you for this read.
Ooh this was a good novella. Gotta love that quick grown love. Carter and Alise in their forties, divorced with grown children meet. Alise is a good friend but very much guarded in her male relationships. Carter is BDE and a grown man who knows what he wants in this next phase of life after being a not so good husband. Alise after seeming to have it all still has to learn to let the hurt go and trust that Carter's intentions are good. I enjoyed how this had just enough drama, great spice and showed how our next phase of relationships can be our best yet.
Healed?? In this new day everyone is talking about being healed or only wanting someone who has healed. This story is a testament to truth.
You can be happy, healthy and over all the toxicity BUT your mind unbeknownst to you is still protecting you in certain situations. You will always view a situation only as you've seen it before. Until there's a continuity of corrective action you will not know how you will handle certain situations.
Cute, quick read! Alise has been through some things. Her girls were going through things. She was out and came across Carter. I loved reading about this older set of people. E was trying to find him a young woman instead of a woman his age. Glad Carter wasn’t on the same type of time as his trusted friend, E. Him and Alise were perfect for each other. Their jealousy was too cute.
I meannnnnn I get it. I was a little nervous about the whole living situation but that man laid aaaaallll his cards on the table. He ran a strict program for REAL! My poor girl Alise wasn’t ready for it either! It made you think about the conversations she was having with her friend group as well as to why she felt the way she did. Relationship trauma is real…. MMC ✅ FMC ✅ We can get a lil novella about Lauren and add a dash of E’s growth?
This book was good and straight to the point!!!… Carter said he was out here dating with intent and Alise was busy running from what she wanted because of fear from the past!!!… I loved Lauren’s character!!!…I was happy she put her foot on that estranged husband of hers!!!…In sure the moment he seen her being who she needed and wanted, he would want her back, baby nope!!!…
Even Forty year olds can be childish and do dumbness.. Every character in this book at some foolishness about them well maybe except for Carter.. Guess since he decided to grow out of his bs earlier in life but Alice had a lot of figuring out to do and she lucky Carter had patience cause she even irked me.. This book is for the grown but foolish for sure lol
Alise had a lot going for her professionally and was about her business. However, her journey in f-boy city had her jaded towards men and their intentions. Carter was a grown man with grown man intentions and she almost fumbled that man because of the sins of others. This would have been a 5 if Alise would have asked instead of assumed. If quick to block was a person... Alise would be it. I really want to see Lauren get her soft life. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
..tell me where you been?!? Cause they've been asking, they've been searching…They've been wondering why… I KNOW!!!! 🎤😩🎶
Bcuz Lawd I KNOW if I had a Carter, baby put me on your strict program 🤣 Alise was about to mess up her good thing by trying to punish that man for the sins of the dudes before him. Carter was right… Girl Go Heal!!!
This was a cute, quick read w/ a nice bit of spice for the length. Enjoyed it!!!
This was a really cool read. The banter had me chuckling several times. Alise had some understandable hesitations about relationships but she jumped to conclusions a lot for someone as grown as she claimed to be. I loved that Carter checked her, but I wish he made her sweat a little more (just saying lol). Carter seemed to be the only decent man in the story. I also loved how Alise had Lauren's back.
I enjoyed this story I love to see who who’ve been through thing boss up , One thing about Tish pen game is it leave you wanting more like can Lauren get a story I need to see sus glow up
And sista gal who life you know can it was so many part of this book I had to step back like bihhhh talk to me nice 🤣🤣 (self sabotaging)
Carter said he was too mature to play the games his buddy was doing as well as Alise. I wouldn't say she was playing games per say, she just had him in the bucket with everyone else. He was was outside that bucket shaking his head at everyone else in there.
This was for the grown and championing adults. Get into the maturity of moving forward.
Alise had a lot of hurt that she bottled up. It’s sad that she continued to self- sabotage herself, but haven’t we all at some point in our lives. Now Carter, I liked him. He was adamant about heal what someone else hurt but he did show his intentions. I loved them together.
I loved everyone moment of this book. Alise living her life and not worried about a man being a permanent fixture in her life, is very much me these days! But baby all women then a Carter! A man who is grown not playing games or leading you on. We love a man that runs a strict program!!
In this crazy world that we live in, we find ourselves in situations where we as older women have problems dealing with men our age. In this well written story, Alyce finds herself in a relationship with a mature man who seems to be all that and more. Unfortunately for her, she almost sabotages it. In the end, she gets her man.
This was a great quick read. Alice knew what she did and didn’t want and Carter was a grown man who took accountability when needed and played no games. He was assertive, caring and a real man who led with intention. I’m happy Alise got her act together cuz that’s a good man Savannah. Go read it!
I thought for sure she had lost a special breed of a man!!! He was so strict and disciplined that I couldn't even imagine him cheating on her!!! I thought he might have had enough, but he was a real forgiving man!!!! Loved the ending!!!
Natisha Raynor another good read. You surely know how to tell the truth on some of these folk. To show how some men just never grow up. I enjoyed seeing the women get stronger. I also enjoyed watching Carson become a good man
