I swear Kai is a demi-human too, but just doesn't realise it, how else does he survive...Even if he is the son of a criminal his survival rates are too high to be human.

The prime minister turns yellow. Sato's origins are revealed. Bored and intent on finishing his video game he gives Tanaka free reins to pursue the elimination list. Massacre at Forge Security.

The first part gives the illusion of a redistribution in the balance of power. But Sato's a gambler, isn't he? For his part Tanaka shows tactical skills and Forge's security detail pays the price.

Sakurai maintains a high level of tension and brutal action with political schemes on the side. Art is always top-notch with excellent storytelling.

This series started out slow for me, but once it gets going this is really good.

Demi Humans are immortal humans with special powers, almost think mutants like the X-Men. So, when demi humans start to form, of course humans start experimenting on them. Immortality? Of course, scientists are going to be all over that. So you end up with some demi humans that fight back and are out to terrorize humanity, and then some that sympathize with humans and try to help them. See the X-Men reference? However, this is not at all just another X-Men type comic, that was just the easiest analogy I could come up with.

In any case if you want to try this series and it doesn't hook you right away, I recommend sticking with it for a least a few volumes before you put it down. It does get better as it goes.

Aww I thought that was a legit reunion. That’s a shame. Planning full steam ahead and Nagai seeming the lazy genius. More of a look into Sato’s history. I’m curious about the other one’s IBM.

Ajin terrorist Sato and others are carrying out killing of 11 VIPs one after another. A war with Sato and others starts. The beginnings were Kei and others of Ajin who was hostile relations and Tosaki and others of a government, but because of a cooperative, relationship is being good.

Still interesting. Note that a battle that starts in this book doesn't end in it so you might want to hold off reading until you have the next volume.

Chronique complète :
https://sunread26.wordpress.com/2024/...

Extrait :

File 29: In the hide out, Kei tells Tosaki that he has someone who he communicates with each night (the firefighter who tried to escape Sato when all the Demi humans congregated). If this message is not received (ie he is killed) then the firefighter will kill Tosakis wife in revenge. Because of this Tosaki tracks down the file on the firefighter through Sokabi. He then tells Sokabi that he’ll attend a secret conference (but doesn’t as he suspects informants from within). He’s proven right when Tanaka and Takahashi guides a ghosts to find and kill him in the premises. In the midst of the attack the ghost cuts the ministers nose, making the threat more real. This is enough to change his policy to collaborate rather than attack Sato. Because of this change, there is no longer a need for Tosakis department other than securing a site (on Sato’s hit list). He suspects that after its all done the minister will put the blame on Tosaki for the mess, so he asks Kei to use his ghost to kill the minister after its all finished.

File 30: Sokabi had also given Tosaki a file on ‘Samuel T Owen’ which is the original name of Sato. He uses it to track down an old friend who retells the story of when he was a marine with him in Vietnam (great soldier with pathological tendency to create chaos with the enemy). He saves the friends younger brother (but don’t know whether from duty or morality). Separately Tosaki goes back to the hideout and tells his motley crew that he’s going to continue against Sato despite the minister cancelling their departments purpose. Okuyama has infiltrated the targets office blueprints to support Tanaka plan for an attack (but strangely Sato is distant). Flashback to Sato as a child who is struck by his father but only because he seems to have been on a killing rampage on animals

File 31: Those that have been in the hide out (Kei, Nakano, Tosaki, Ishimu and a few professionals, turn up at Forge Security, run by CEO Keiichi Kai. They get inducted on the skyscraper, anticipating an attack from Sato at any time, since the CEO is on the execution list (and strangely his secretary Miss Li). Kei has a dream Sato comes in a helicopter and blows everyone up and that Kai was there to save him.

File 32: Okuyama gets through to the Forge security tower unsuspected as he is an electrician (and with the help from the inside by someone in HR called Aoshima - who doesn’t appear yet). Whilst working there he sets off the alarms which triggers carbon dioxide and closes the doors for everyone to suffocate on the floor to death. Tanaka with Takahashi and Gen infiltrate the building with the help of Okuyama switching off the security walls from the control room.

File 33: Tanaka, Takahashi and Gen are making their way up the towers through the stairwells, killing many guards with guns and ghosts.

This volume was half character work, and half violent spectacle. The farther into this series I get, the more I feel it is just trying to be a super cool supernatural thriller series, that would be right at home with a big budget action show. I liked learning about Sato's backstory and how he really is just looking for that thrill of a challenge, hence why he has taken a step back from playing a part in the assassinations. During our character stretch, Tosaki makes a deal with Kei to kill the Prime Minister after this is all done in exchange for setting him up with a new life and leaving him alone. Ko tries to learn how to use his IBM a bit, and is still hanging around as a sort of foil to Kei in a way. Still waiting for him to actually do something though besides just hang out. Then we get a lot of waiting and a dream sequence that felt unnecessary. Once this lull is over though, things kick into high gear with the usual creative and top tier action flair this series knows how to deliver. Such moments as the bad guy infiltrating security and setting of the carbon monoxide alarm so he dies with everyone in there, only to come back to life and hack the system. Or we have the main attack team killing each other, so that they don't get stunned by the tranquilizers. Overall, a solid volume.

How does Kai survive all the time and what is this safe place he always talks about getting to...? Is it really important for Nagai Kei to go there or not?

Regardless this volume was just giving me more assurance that Sato is crazy from the start and he's a terrifying monster to go up against. I seriously feel for that Vietnam soldier who went on that rescue mission that could have gone perfectly if Sato hadn't snapped... Or maybe that was the intent, make it seem like it was going perfectly to give everyone a sense of peace before risking it all for that rush and forcing everyone around him to accept his help still in the situation he caused.

In the end, I just really hate everyone involved with Sato. Including that IT guy who could have lived a nice life working at The Forge, but decided to just end it all by going awol... It ticks me off a lot being so intelligent but choosing stupidity.

That Tanaka guy needs a serious backbone and figure out what he wants other than trying to figure Sato's plans out. It won't end well for him at this point.

This is a pretty cool volume if more of a building blocks for the next arc.

Kei is now working with Yu and the rest of the team to try and find a way to stop Sato. Sato is so bored with life now he orders Koji and the rest of his underlings to do his bidding while he stays back and plays some video game. This is mostly them beginning to make their move, and the Koji group attacks Yu.

I really liked some scenes, one in particular of Kei seeing the worst scenario in his head. For a second I thought it was real and took me by utter surprise. That was great. The art keeps getting better and while I feel sometimes character talk too much with too much exposition it still remains interesting throughout.
