Jace and Tara—dysfunctional. Yeah, maybe a bit. They decided a long time ago they shouldn’t be married, but the sex isn't something they want to walk away from. Not when it is that good.
Jace has more on his mind than a booty call when he shows up to his ex-wife’s dome. He needs a pilot to fly a racing ship he plans to repossess, and only the best pilot will do. There’s one issue with hiring Tara for the job. His ex-girlfriend Nia has also signed on as navigator, and the two women can’t be in the same room, let alone the cramped cabin of a high-credit racing ship. And, well, he’s kind of still sleeping with them both. But they don’t know that.
When they find out, the claws come out and hair flies. After the dust settles, something else happens. Yeah, two is company, but three can set the galaxy on fire when passions turn from homicide to more pleasurable activities.

"Waking Beauty" is so very much like an Erik Schubach book (it's even narrated by the wonderful Hollie Jackson), that I strongly suspected that Erik wrote under a pseudonym to experiment with writing sex scenes that were explicit, rather than his trademark fade-to-black.
Well, I messaged Erik, and he denies being the author. Plus, D.L. Jackson has over 40 works on goodreads, so she must be real.
"Waking Beauty" is a very interesting paranormal-ish story of two women who meet when it's time for them to meet…several times. The mysterious Madam Eve is intriguing, and I look forward to other 1Night Stand episodes. The title of the series is odd, though, because both women are clearly looking for more than a 1Night Stand….
4.25* - definitely recommended!
Updated to include warning for a rape trigger (described in a flashback, not real time).
I don’t tend to read fairy tale type stories, preferring books with a more realistic feel, so I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I put up my hand to review this story.
Right from the get-go I found myself intrigued by not only the mysterious Madame Eve but the venue of the ‘date’! Chris is handed a letter to read, which gives her a glimpse into the horrors Alexandria had to endure as a gay lesbian in the military. Believe you me it’s not easy to read and my heart broke for Alex, before I even met the illustrious character.
Then when Chris is caught placing a kiss on “sleeping beautys” lips and Alexandria’s mother walks in, another entire can of worms is opened.
After the initial bumps in the road, the story took off in another direction, and with our heroine Alexandria being rich, no expenses were spared as she took Chris on the date of her life. Swept away in a helicopter, driven to a flash hotel, complete with spa pool, and naked fun.
I liked that Chris was not painted as the glamor gal, which tend to be portrayed in books with erotic content. Her vulnerabilities and insecurities about looking like a pale whale (her words) gave her character that special touch of realness!
My Verdict – This book is ooy-gooey good. I liken it to a delicious donut, not much substance, gone in a few bites, but it will leave you feeling sated and with a smile on your face.
I highly recommend this story to those who enjoy a feel good lesbian romance. A few parts take a little bit of suspension of belief, so just don’t overthink it.
