When Southwest Florida crime-scene blogger Maggie Finn goes deep-sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, a deadly catch plunges her into a sea of trouble. Clues point to a marine park where she goes undercover, working as park guide in a shark costume. The cast of characters is one found only in Florida, at least in Maggie Finn’s kind of Florida. To complicate things even more, Maggie finds herself falling for a man who she suspects may be a murderer. In a place where no one is who they appear to be, and nothing is what it seems on the surface, Maggie will have to keep her friends close and her enemies closer, if only she can figure out who is who, and untangle the web of deceit before she becomes the next victim!
How does a 5-star (in my humble opinion) author bomb with the next in her series? The problem as i see it is that the author, not unlike some other authors, either forgets, or conveniently ignores the fact that their book, is likely NOT the only book a person will read. Case in point, I very much enjoyed "Engulfed", the first book in this series of Maggie Finn. But in-between that book and this one I read 24 other books.
"Entangled" is a jumble of unclear characters which the author relied on readers' memories of book one. It was unclear as to who Maggie is, what she is. This book made nos sense. sometime during the novel it is thrown in that it is Maggie's 60th birthday. Weird. But besides that little fact, Maggie is flaky, behaving like a 20-somthing year old heroine (if you want to call her that). Who allows a complete stranger into her home with tales of her dead husband's ashes needed to be sprinkled at a dolphin park? A stranger knocks on your door and "Oh welcome! Come in." Really? Maggie's phone falls out of a helicopter but suddenly reappears 2 pages later in hand? Maggie blogs specific information then wonders why her where-abouts are known?
This novel is a good example of sloppy writing. It is too bad I really enjoyed the first one.
Don't expect a continuation of first book "Engulfed"
Ok as a stand-a-lone but very disappointing as the next in series. Nathan was favorably developed and then totally dropped, not saying of he moved, retired, or died. I purchased this book the minute I finished Engulfed only because of the romantic interest I thought was to follow. Now we have Frank/Walter with no more favorably build-up than crinkly eyes. Was this book exited and some major details deleted. Such as when and why did she move to Florida and why are her parents never mentioned. There could have been a whole book missing. I gave 4 stars but wouldn't read it again. Maybe Gonzales will appear (or at least be explained away) in a 3rd book. Don't develop a character and then ignore it.
