I have to admit I am biased here, I have twin daughters and the author has twin daughters, we both went abroad after graduating, we were neighbors in Seattle, and I like my mom and she likes my mom (in fact they were roommates at the University of Wisconsin). I treasure my autographed copy of Quests with its witty personalized inscription; it took me a year to finally get around to reading Jan's book and today I whipped through it in an afternoon, laughing aloud at her pithy observations and wry humor (all of which I heard in my head in her distinct voice). I stopped often to make note of her recommendations for further reading, and to re-read the many passages I particularly enjoyed. I even read bits out loud to my 7 year old twins, about her appreciation of freedom and comfort, things most Americans take so completely for granted.
