Wild About You

Trouble just moved in next door.

Veterinarian Cassie Thompson wants one simple to completely start over. New town. New job. New family. That’s not asking too much, is it? It’s almost as if the universe is conspiring in her favor when an escaped tiger—yes, you heard that right—and the two half-sisters she just discovered lead her to a fresh start. She’s ready to start rebuilding her life one Maryland crab cake at a time. It would be smooth sailing if it weren’t for the rapidly escalating neighbor war with her grumpy lumberjack of a landlord.

Noah Reed has no time for distractions—especially not a spunky, house-stealing veterinarian who won’t stop making suggestions for saving his mother’s exotic animal sanctuary. He has work to do, tenants who keep clogging their toilets, and a literal ton of emotional baggage that he’ll get around to addressing someday.

Cassie would rather neuter a rabid chihuahua than get entangled with another life-ruining jerk. But when one night—and one girthy bottle of wine—changes everything, their contentious professional relationship gets a lot more personal. With the fate of the sanctuary and Cassie’s career hanging in the balance, these neighbors with benefits will have to put aside their differences and their begrudging mutual attraction.

Imagine moving across the country, and you're driving down the road into a new town and your meet-cute literally involves an escaped tiger on the loose! 🐅🩺

Wild About You by Madison Score kicks off with one of the most uniquely wild and creative first encounters I have ever read. I was so excited to discover that she is actually author Lucy Score’s younger sister, and I didn’t even know she was a writer, too! The female main character, Cassie, is a brilliant veterinarian returning to Maryland after escaping a toxic and emotionally manipulative ex. On her way to a charming small town to uncover the truth about her past, she literally runs right into an escaped tiger that broke out of its transport enclosure. Putting her zoo veterinary skills to work, she helps secure the animal and instantly clashes with the local, rugged farm guy involved in the transport to his family's animal rescue sanctuary. So already, you know I was completely hooked!

What starts as an opposites-attract, clashing dynamic quickly turns into such an emotionally layered connection. I love stories with grumpy sunshine vibes, and I loved all of the forced proximity between the FMC and MMC. The Maryland setting feels so authentic, with fun local nods to Old Bay seasoning, blue crabs, Ocean City beach vibes, and the National Aquarium in Baltimore. I absolutely love the Lovelight Farms series by B.K. Borison, which also takes place in Maryland, and I think if you love cozy small-town romances, you’ll love this one too! I loved the cozy found family, the nosy neighbors, and overall small-town charm which made this such a sweet story.

It also reminded me of other cozy small-town favorites with delightful meddling neighbors, like the When in Rome series by Sarah Adams and the Hope Harbor series by Brittanée Nicole. As someone who absolutely loves animals, I loved all of the sweet dogs in this book to the rescue tiger, and all the veterinarian references throughout the story. I listened to the audiobook by Emma Wilder, and the narration was clear and easy to follow, even with increased speed.

I loved the banter in this book, and I loved the deeper emotional themes as well. It tackles adoption representation, heavy grief, mental health, and healing from past trauma with real heart. Even with all the emotional anticipation and build-up as they work through their feelings for each other, it was such an addictive, comforting, and easy to read romance overall.

Wildlife veterinarian Cassie Thompson is starting her life over. Divorcing her toxic ex-husband, cutting ties with her adoptive parents, and finding a new home. She arrives to the small town her half sisters reside in, only to stumble upon a tiger! In the road! It’s clear the town is in need of veterinarian (note tiger in road) and Aster Hollow is exactly the kind of place she was searching for to find peace. The only thing holding her back from this peace is her grumpy, lumberjack, (reluctantly) hot, tattooed landlord!

Noah Reed doesn’t have the time or patience for Cassie Thompson. He has properties to fix, his mother’s wildlife rescue to maintain, and woodworking to keep up with. He doesn’t need another thing to worry about! Except, annoyingly, Cassie buys the house right beside his, and becomes a constant presence in his life.

Both Nate and Cassie, closed off due to their past trauma, find themselves slowly opening up to each other. Nate helps Cassie open her new clinic in town, and Cassie helps Nate keep the wildlife sanctuary up and running. The more time they spend together, the more the tension rises, and the harder it is for them to deny what they feel.

I listened to this on audiobook, and I was honestly very impressed! Not just with the story itself, but Emma Wilder did a fantastic job with narrating. All the voices were done by her, and she did a fantastic job.

The story itself was very enjoyable. It really reminded me of Abby Jimenez’s writing style, which I love! There was always something happening- wildlife to save, events to run, and tension to deny. I loved the characters. Cassie and Nate were both written with such emotional depth. Listening to Cassie grow in her confidence was so empowering. The book deals a lot with grief, but in such a healthy way. The topics that Madison Score covers in this book make the characters really easy to resonate with and understand. (We love a man that goes to therapy!)

Thank you to Hambright and Madison Score for sending me a copy of this audiobook!🎧🐅❤️ all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was the cutest damn book I have ever read! Er, listened to. Emma Wilden is freaking incredible, I sincerely thought this was a duet reading. Nope. Just Emma knocking it out of the park. It was my first time listening to her as a narrator and I am definitely making a to-be-listened-to list of her work. Wow!

Cassie Thompson was not having a good time. A veterinarian whose marriage is over, her career is in shambles, and looking for traces of her birth mother and family; she’s trying to find a place to start over. Landing in a small town in Maryland sounds like the perfect answer to her problems. Other than the large escaped tiger she encounters on her way into town, and the grumbly lumberjack who is definitely good looking but also a grade A asshole. What could go wrong?

Narrator: Everything.

This was absolutely adorable and I am now in love with Madison Score’s writing style. It was funny, fresh, and real. The humor was refreshing and natural, and by the way, the word lumbersnack is never going to leave my lexicon.

The emotions Cassie worked through dealing with her parents’ neglect, her toxic marriage, and how it affected her sense of self were incredible and authentic. I could feel the hurt that Cassie had around her life, and seeing her pull through and build her confidence was incredible. Noah too, he had a serious issue that was stunting his emotional growth. It was real and understandable, to get to see him heal on the page not just for Cassie but for himself was beautifully done. This was an absolutely perfect book to read that was spicy and filled with love.

Five super cute fuzzy pawprints for this one!

The way Cassie and Noah interact is perfect and you can’t help but root for them, even when they’re being boneheaded dingbats. I loved everything about this. Grab it when it comes out August 27!

Thank you to Madison Score and Hambright PR for the gifted copy (in both formats, which was awesome). All opinions are my own.

Madison Score does it again with another touching and funny read!

Cassie is a veterinarian starting completely over after her divorce and finding she has half sisters. What she doesn't expect is to stop in the night to find a tiger on the road where she encounters grumpy Noah. They get off to the wrong start and tensions rise when she decides to make this small town her home and moves in next door. Their back and forth was sooo good. They both have trauma from their pasts that they have to over come and watching the growth happen was fantastic.

Also, a happy mention is all the incredible animals in this book! Not only to we get a tiger, the cutest fluffy dog Taco, and an adorable cat but also dolphins! I enjoyed the medical terminology in this book and how passionate Cassie is about the animals! 10/10

ARC Review 📖

This was such a ridiculously cute and fun romance!

Cassie and Noah had me hooked from their chaotic first encounter, and their grumpy-meets-sunshine dynamic only got better once they ended up living next door to each other. Their banter was so good, and I loved watching all that irritation slowly turn into chemistry. These two could be such boneheaded dingbats, but I was completely invested in them.

I also really loved the emotional side of this story. Cassie is trying to rebuild her life after a toxic marriage while figuring out where she belongs, and watching her find her confidence again was so rewarding. Noah had plenty of his own baggage to work through, and I appreciated that their relationship didn’t magically fix everything. They both had to confront their pasts and grow as individuals, which made their journey together feel that much more satisfying. Plus, the animals! The sanctuary, the veterinary elements, the dogs, the cat, the tiger… I was absolutely sold.

Overall, this was such an entertaining, cozy read with plenty of laughs, swoony moments, and emotional depth tucked underneath all the chaos. I loved the small-town atmosphere, the found-family feel, and the way Cassie and Noah slowly became exactly what the other needed.

This was my first time reading this author, and I’m super curious to see what comes next!

ALC Review (Audiobook) 🎧

This was such a delightful audiobook! Emma Wilder absolutely knocked this narration out of the park and somehow gave all the characters enough personality that I could easily tell who was speaking. I normally prefer duet narration, especially with dual POV, but Emma made the solo narration work so well that I honestly stopped thinking about it. Cassie and Noah’s banter was hilarious, the animal chaos made this such an entertaining listen, and the emotional moments landed just as well. Between the grumpy neighbor, the veterinarian FMC, an escaped tiger, and two people carrying more baggage than they know what to do with, this was such a cute, addictive listen. Emma Wilder has definitely earned herself a spot on my audiobook TBR!

~~~~
I was so excited to experience this one in both formats. Having the ARC and ALC meant I could fully sink into the story, and honestly, it made the experience that much better.
A huge thank you to Madison Score and Hambright PR for the ARC & ALC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
Was this really a single narrator? Holly Molly what a phenomenal production!
Tempted by the vet and pet sidekick, I decided to try this ALC despite it being as far from my normal genre as possible.
And oh, I'm so glad I did! This book was an absolute delight. It has it all: a strong FMC (Dr. Cassie is a badass vet!) a dreamy atmospheric setting (the beach, the shed, the sanctuary) a sexy lumberjack hunk with a sensitive soul, So many adorable animals, and even a couple of toe curling steamy scenes!
From an escaped tiger, through a rescue shiba inu to a wounded dolphin, she is giving us all the feels. I laughed and said WTAF multiple times while listening.
And let's talk about Emma Wilder doing a single narration of all the characters so flawlessly I was certain this was a dual production!!
If you are looking for a fun, sexy, animal loving story- you found it. I'm so glad I took a chance on this book. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. A glowing 4.5 stars !!
Thank you, Madison Score and Hambright PR for this lovely ALC 🙌🏻
Madison Score’s Wild About You was my latest tandem read and listen, and somewhere between Cassie meeting an escaped tiger and declaring war on her grumpy landlord, I knew I was in for a good time. Thank you to Hambright PR and That’s What She Said Publishing for the gifted eARC and ALC. How often does a romance give you a veterinarian, an escaped tiger, newly discovered sisters, and a grumpy lumberjack?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cassie is starting over after her life takes a turn she definitely didn’t plan for. Discovering two half-sisters brings her to Aster Hollow, where she gets involved with an exotic animal sanctuary and immediately butts heads with Noah, her landlord, neighbor, and resident grump.
And these two can BICKER.
Their neighbor war had me laughing because Cassie gives it right back to him. Noah has opinions. Cassie has more. Neither knows when to quit, and somehow all that arguing turns into serious chemistry and a neighbors-with-benefits situation.
Underneath the fun, though, they’re both carrying some heavy stuff. Cassie is figuring out what she wants after having some big choices taken out of her hands, while Noah has been carrying guilt for years. The infertility storyline hit harder than I expected, and I appreciated that it was part of Cassie’s story without becoming her entire identity.
And Cassie’s ex? By the time that man showed his true colors, I was ready to give the tiger his address and call it a day.
I loved the animal sanctuary, Cassie being a veterinarian, and the family she never knew she had. There was always a little chaos happening.
I bounced between reading and listening, and Emma Wilder made switching ridiculously easy. This is solo narration, and she gives Cassie and Noah distinct voices while absolutely nailing their banter. She also knows when to pull back for the emotional moments. I would have loved duet narration, but Emma carries this audio beautifully.
Funny, romantic, spicy, emotional, and a little chaotic. Exactly what I wanted.
Which fictional ex has made you want to unleash the tiger?
“She had lost control in the most dramatic way. But there was no turning back. There was only Noah.”
Rich with inner discovery and finding your own voice, this book felt almost more like women’s fiction than romance. It's a real slow-burn focusing on animals and wildlife preservation which I think serves nicely as a metaphor for Cassie's self-preservation and personal growth as well. A tiger named Huckleberry as the central character was a real cherry on top!
Reading about her family's neglect and general attitude towards her felt really heartbreaking. But it also added so many dimensions to her character and explained her undying desire to help others.
Wild About You is a real support read. It hugs you with a warm embrace and holds you close when you need it the most. It's both passionate and character-driven, and equal parts funny and nostalgic. It's the perfect long autumn weekend read.
I highly recommend!
I absolutely loved this book!! I’m a sucker for a grumpy dude who really deep down is just healing from past teams. The fmc also is starting over and trying to heal as well.
I had the ALC for this one and for one narrator doing it all! Bravo!
Book Title: Wild About You
Author: Madison Score
Tropes: Grumpy/Sunshine, Neighbors to Lovers, Enemies to Lovers, Wildlife Sanctuary, Vet FMC, Found Family, Dual POV, Forbidden Attraction
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
🤩 The Vibe:
Chaotic, funny, and way more heart than you see coming.
A veterinarian moves to a small Maryland town for a fresh start — new job, new home, and two brand new half-sisters she just found out exist. Oh, and an escaped tiger that kicks off the whole story in the most unhinged, perfect way. The wildlife sanctuary setting is unlike anything else in the genre right now, and the slow unraveling of Noah’s grumpy exterior into something much more complex is what keeps you turning pages long past when you should have put it down.
👩‍❤️‍👨 Main Characters:
Cassie
A large-animal vet with sunshine energy, a chaotic new family situation, and zero time for a neighbor war she absolutely ends up in the middle of. She’s easy to root for from page one — warm and funny and genuinely just trying to build something new. I would have loved even more time with her at the sanctuary, because the glimpses we got of her in her element were so good.
Noah
He was a tough one to warm up to at first — and that’s honest. He’s grumpy in a way that leans hard in the opening chapters, and even his internal dialogue didn’t immediately tip his hand that there was softness underneath. But the payoff is real. Once his past trauma starts surfacing and his walls come down slowly and with reason, he becomes a fully realized, complicated MMC who absolutely earned his place in the story. He just takes some patience to get there.
💕 What I Loved:
• The opening scene with the escaped tiger — I was immediately hooked and fully committed
• The wildlife sanctuary setting — so fresh and genuinely interesting as a romance backdrop
• Cassie’s dynamic with her two newly-discovered half-sisters — the found family element added so much warmth
• Noah’s eventual emotional reveal — understanding his past trauma reframed so much of his earlier behavior and made me love him for it
• The chemistry between them once it clicked — it was genuinely good
• The side characters, especially Will — I need his story next
• Madison Score’s humor landing consistently throughout — the writing has real comedic timing
🩵 What Didn’t Work For Me:
• Noah’s grumpiness in the early chapters crossed into mean territory — even his internal monologue didn’t give enough of a hint of softness to balance it, which made it hard to fully connect with him early on
• There were a few too many subplots running at once — the half-sisters, the sanctuary drama, the neighbor war, Cassie’s Ex, her adoptive parents drama, searching for her bio dad, plus Noah’s backstory — at times it felt like a lot to track without any one thread getting enough depth. It felt like many of these went half developed.
• I wanted so much more sanctuary content — Cassie’s work with large animals is such a unique setup and I felt like it was underutilized. I think this could have been better use of forced proximity than neighbors.
• A note on the audiobook: Emma Wilder is a great narrator and did a solid job, but for a dual POV story, having a single female narrator made it genuinely difficult to transition between Cassie and Noah’s chapters. I don’t need a full duet cast, but a male narrator for Noah’s POV would have made a real difference here
🤔 Final Thoughts:
A really fun premise that’s worth the patience it takes to get there.
Madison Score brings a comedic voice and a setting that stands completely apart from the rest of the romance crowd right now — a wildlife sanctuary, an escaped tiger, half-sisters appearing out of nowhere, and a grumpy landlord with more beneath the surface than he lets anyone see. Once Noah’s layers start showing up, the story finds its footing in a big way. If you can push through the pricklier early chapters, the payoff is genuinely worth it. And Will? I need his book immediately.
If you love:
• Grumpy heroes who eventually earn it
• Wildlife and animal settings that feel truly unique
• Found family dynamics woven into the romance
• Humor-forward writing with real heart underneath
• Openings that grab you immediately and don’t let go
🎧 Swift Song Pairing: Paper Rings — chaotic, unexpected, and falling way harder than either of them planned.
I really really enjoyed my fist Madison Score read. Cassie is trying to piece together her life, and she literally passing through this town and comes face to face with Noah who is in fact trying to wrangle a tiger. Now Noah has his own baggage and it comes with grief, regret and a whole lot of guilt. From theyre first interaction the tension is set high. They're journey both separate and together was heartbreaking but the ending ugh, I was lucky enough to be gifted the ALC AND EARC (Huge THANK YOU to Madison Score and Hambright PR) and let me tell you the immersive read was perfect I actually on multiple occasions thought it was duel narration and had to double check it was just one person, Emma Wilder did a phenomenal job.
4.5⭐️
This audio & narration by Emma Wilder was so fun! While I would have probably preferred a duet for this, she did a great job & absolutely carried this one!! This is 3rd person, so it was a bit confusing at times since chapters weren’t labeled by characters. However, I still loved it!
My first book by Madison Score & I can’t wait to read more. This was cute, fun, & swoony, but also had emotional aspects to it that kept me loving these characters! It does cover a heavy topics, so make sure to check your triggers, but I love how well done the topic of infertility was done in this book!
Animal lovers, this one is for you!! I was so captivated by the zoo/ vet talk, & animal aspect of this one & loved everything about it. Animals have my heart & this one definitely pulled at that!
I loved Noah & Cassi, both a little closed off and dealing with their past & trauma, but they had so much chemistry! Their relationship was so enemies to lovers & full of banter that I couldn’t help but cackle at their encounters!! It just made this one such a fun ride. While this one was fun, it also had emotional depth with the scars these two carried and I loved the healing journey they were able to take together! Truly a beautiful story, that has you swooning, laughing, and loving every second!
Thank you Hambright for this early arc & alc!
You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.
This book is so dang cute! It starts with a meet-cute between veterinarian Cassie and jack of all trades Noah as they try to capture a tiger that got loose from its cage on its way to a sanctuary. It's a rocky start between the two, which doesn't get better when she buys the house next door to him that he'd been trying to buy for his mother to live in. Their grumpy/sunshine personalities light up the pages with witty banter and gestures of kindness. Complete with a meddling mother and small town coziness, this book hits all the right notes.
Cassie wants to rebuild her life on the East coast and connect with her half-sisters after going through a bad divorce from a controlling jerk. He took away a career she loved and most of her confidence, so she struggles to trust herself. She also has horrible adoptive parents and never got to know her birth mother, so she's dealing with a double-whammy of hard stuff. But she's kind, strong, determined, and is willing to help when and where she's asked. She starts to make a life for herself in the small town, and begins to know her sisters. She also makes an impact on the citizens of the town and becomes a trusted member of the community.
Noah is going through his own grief after a tragic accident three years earlier when his best friend died. Since then, he's closed himself off from everyone but his mother and robotically goes through life helping out at his mother's animal sanctuary, managing his rentals, and making custom ordered furniture. He neither wants, nor does he feel he deserves, a relationship or love, and the appearance of Cassie into his life isn't going to change that. Yeah, right.
The couple eventually stumble together one night, and begin a tentative, fragile "something". But neither is in the right place to build a healthy relationship until they confront their grief and learn how to cope with it. I like that the author approached their problems in a realistic way and that there wasn't a quick fix that "cured" them. That's not real life, and it's frustrating when a couple's problems go away in the blink of an eye.
But I don't want you to think the book is too heavy. While the couple is dealing with difficult issues, it's still a sweet, spicy, funny romance at its heart. I listened to it and narrator Emma Wilder did a fantastic job. At first I thought it was a duet narration, but eventually figured out it was just one person. Emma portrayed Noah so well and really makes you feel his pain and suffering when he thinks about his trauma. She also inserts a lot of fun into their witty banter and teasing and I laughed out loud several times.
The book is out now and is available on KU. I highly recommend you pick it up!
🗣️ 𝚀𝚞𝚒𝚌𝚔(𝚒𝚜𝚑) 𝚃𝚊𝚔𝚎: I already love Lucy Score, so of course I had to jump at the chance to read her sister’s new book! Wild About You  grabbed me and never let go, and it took me on a whirlwind of emotions. I loved Cassie, and she is the most badass vet I have ever seen, even if it is a fiction book. She immediately gets off on the wrong foot with Noah, and his grumpy self only makes things worse (but not really 😉). They both have so much to unravel from their pasts, and there were times I felt horrible for each of them. We slowly learn each of their struggles as the story goes on, and there were plenty of moments I laughed while others that I couldn’t help but tear up. I fell so hard for these characters, and I absolutely see a reread in my future.
🎧 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬: I was expecting a duet narration for this book, but what I got was Emma Wilder’s narration, which is something to behold. Now, I would have still loved a male narrator for Noah’s POV, but Wilder is an absolute pro. I loved listening to her, and the way she brought the characters to life all by herself was impressive. I can’t even imagine having more than one narrator now that I’m done, and I fully recommend this as an ear read!
Not a shifter romance. Apparently I was just DEEP in my paranormal era when I requested this one because I went in fully expecting Noah to turn into an animal at some point. 😂
"Wild About You" may have a cute pink cover and plenty of romance, but underneath it is a story about two people carrying some pretty significant emotional scars. Cassie and Noah don't always handle those scars particularly well, but I loved watching them work through their individual struggles and eventually find their way to each other. Cassie's ex was absolutely DEPLORABLE, and after the emotional abuse she endured, I wouldn't have blamed her if she'd sworn off men forever. Noah's struggles were a little harder for me to connect with, but I was very glad to see therapy become part of his journey.
I also really enjoyed the animal shelter and veterinary clinic elements. They gave Cassie and Noah something meaningful to connect over outside of the very obvious attraction between them. My one personal nitpick? As someone who works on actual professional fundraisers, I had to laugh at how easy Cassie made fundraising seem. Girl... especially in a small town, it is NOT that simple. 😂
And then there's Emma Wilder. NO ONE is going to convince me there wasn't secretly a man in that recording booth voicing Noah. Her range is absolutely incredible. She gave Cassie and Noah such distinct voices that I genuinely forgot at times I was listening to a solo narrator. Her performance added so much personality and emotion to the story.
Overall, a lovely romance about two imperfect people overcoming their circumstances, confronting their emotional scars, and finding something worth trusting again.
Another sweet and fun read from Madison Score! I loved the solo narration in the audiobook, the narrator did a fantastic job.
I thought the FMC was strong and I enjoyed learning more about her family. I also loved how she is a veterinarian and how the chaos hooks you from the very beginning. The MMC definitely had room for growth and I liked that he was putting in the effort to heal and better himself.
Overall, this was such a fun one!
This book was SO cute! 🥹💗
My book club friends and I read Love Among Vines by Score a couple years ago, and we absolutely loved it. Her books are just so fun, refreshing, and easy to get lost in!
I loved Noah and Cassie’s love story. 🥰 Cassie is a veterinarian, and the beginning literally had me hooked because there’s a TIGER in the middle of the street and she’s just out there in her heels doing her thing. 😂🐅
And Noah being a lumberjack MMC? Hello. Say less. 🪵😏
I also loved the way their stories came together. Noah is the landlord for several houses in Aster Hollow and is the son of Gloria, who owns the wildlife sanctuary. Cassie is only supposed to be in town for a short time, but she ends up helping out at the sanctuary—and from there, we get all the chemistry, banter, and swoony moments between her and Noah. 🥹💕
And honestly? I ATE IT UP. Their chemistry was so fun, and I just loved watching their relationship develop.
Another 4 ⭐️ read from Madison Score, and she can literally do no wrong in my book. 😂💗 I love her books and will absolutely keep picking them up!
Definitely add this one to your TBR! 📚✨
This is another cute story by Madison Score!
Cassie is recently divorced, recently out of a job, and trying to find her birth family. When she’s driving through Aster Hollow she comes across a Tiger in the middle of the road, and a bunch of men not knowing what to do around it. Her large animal vet skills kick in and she takes charge, insulting the man who was bringing the tiger to his animal sanctuary.
Cassie and Noah butt heads as she settles into town, finding her sisters, learning about her mother, and figuring out what kind of vet she wants to be.
As Cassie deals with major life changes, Noah is still reeling from his best friends death.
Together they work on themselves while being drawn together.
This is a cute story. I loved the wild animals theme and the growth of the characters, and the amazing small town community.
3.5⭐ | 2🌶️ This cute, Hallmark-esque enemies-to-lovers romance had me fully invested for the first 70%… even if the final stretch lost a little momentum.
Tropes:
💞 Enemies to Lovers
☯️ Opposites Attract
🧲 Forced Proximity
🏡 Small Town
❤️‍🩹 Trauma / healing
About the Book:
Wild About You follows Cassie, an exotic animal veterinarian who is recently divorced and ready for a fresh start. She moves to Astor Hollow, Maryland, hoping to re-establish herself on her own and get to know the two half-sisters she only recently discovered.
But Cassie’s arrival is anything but uneventful. Almost immediately, she encounters a tiger loose in the middle of an intersection and jumps into action, field bag in hand. But before she can save the tiger, she has to contend with a grumpy lumberjack who happens to be the reason the tiger is on the loose in the first place.
After Cassie successfully sedates the tiger and gets him back into the truck for transport, she accompanies Noah to the animal sanctuary where the tiger is being relocated—a sanctuary owned by his aging mother. Cassie quickly becomes immersed in caring for the sanctuary’s many exotic animals and, unable to help herself, starts sharing a slew of ideas to pull the struggling sanctuary out of the financial hole it’s found itself in.
Naturally, Noah and Cassie constantly butt heads over her meddling. But beneath all that bickering is a growing attraction, and little by little, Cassie starts to chip away at Noah’s gruff exterior.
Review:
This was a cute, enemies-to-lovers, small-town romance. While a bit formulaic, it was still an enjoyable, easy read with plenty of Hallmark vibes. It wasn’t perfect, but I had a lot of fun with it.
What I loved:
• Cassie’s role as an exotic animal veterinarian was such a fun and unique aspect of the story. I really enjoyed seeing her expertise in action, and it made the animal sanctuary setting especially interesting.
• I’m always a sucker for a grumpy hero with secrets, so I really enjoyed Noah. His tough exterior and the layers underneath made him an engaging character, especially in the earlier parts of the book.
• The first 70% of the book was really strong. The pacing, dialogue, and buildup of both the story and romance kept me invested and eager to see where things were going.
• The slow-burn trajectory of the romance really worked for me. It had to take its time because of the emotional baggage both Cassie and Noah were carrying, but I remained compelled and interested in watching their relationship develop.
• The spice was well worth the wait. The first spicy scene doesn’t happen until around the 65% mark, but it was a good one. There’s one more spicy scene later in the book, and I thought both were really well written.
• I also enjoyed the drama involving Cassie’s ex-husband. I especially loved the confrontation scene and thought it was a really satisfying moment.
What didn’t work quite as well for me:
• The writing occasionally felt less polished than it did earlier in the book. There were a few moments where the sentence structure felt a little simplistic or bland, which stood out because I had really enjoyed the writing and dialogue throughout much of the first half.
• The pacing slowed down a bit between the 70–85% mark. After such a strong buildup, this section felt somewhat sluggish, and I found myself wishing the story would move forward a little more quickly.
• Cassie and Noah both frustrated me during this part of the book. I understood Noah’s trauma and why he struggled to move past what happened to his best friend, but at times his self-punishment and negativity felt a little repetitive.
Cassie also frustrated me in the way she responded when Noah wasn’t ready to open up to her, particularly because of the timing surrounding the anniversary of his best friend’s death. I understood that she had her own frustrations and insecurities, but I wished there had been a little more empathy for why Noah found it so difficult to let someone in and believe he deserved love.
That said, I don’t need my characters to be perfect, and I actually appreciate when they make mistakes and feel authentically flawed. Cassie does eventually recognize where she went wrong and apologizes, which I appreciated. I just found this stretch of their relationship a little frustrating to read.
• The ending felt a bit rushed. After spending so much time building up the characters, their relationship, and the various conflicts, I would have loved a little more time for everything to come together.
• I would have loved to see the side characters—particularly Lyra and Andie—more fully developed. But I’m still intrigued by both of them, especially Andie, and definitely interested in learning more about their stories.
Overall: This was a cute, easy-to-read enemies-to-lovers romance with plenty of small-town charm and Hallmark vibes. While the final third lost a little momentum for me and a few character decisions left me frustrated, I really enjoyed the first 70% of the book, the unique animal sanctuary setting, and the slow-burn romance between Cassie and Noah. It wasn’t perfect, but I had a lot of fun reading it—and I’m definitely intrigued enough by the sisters, especially Andie, to continue with the series.
Just finished immersive reading an advanced copy of a book that was just released today called, Wild About You. This is about Cassie, she's divorced, looking for a fresh start, and heading to meet her two half sisters in Maryland for the first time when she gets stopped by a tiger in the middle of the road. Luckily she's a vet, so she's able to help the people transporting the tiger to an animal sanctuary get it there safely. While she's in town meeting her half sisters, she checks in on the tiger at the sanctuary and they say how the town's vet retired and they really need a new one. This might be the fresh start she's been hoping for and everyone is eager for her to stay except for Noah, the animal sanctuary owner's son and the man Cassie got off on the wrong foot with during the tiger situation. When Cassie decides to stay, she unknowingly ends up buying the house next door to Noah. Then his mom starts asking Cassie for help to raise money for the animal sanctuary. They still can't stand each other but can't deny the attraction between them any longer, so they finally decide maybe a friends with benefits situation could work for them. But when the lines between professional and personal begin to blur and their attraction starts becoming more, things get a lot more complicated than they originally planned.
OMG I absolutely adored everything about this romcom! This was enemies to lovers with forced proximity, opposites attract, tension, spice, banter, character growth, and found family in the most charming, beachy, crab-loving small town! (Old bay is also my blood type! 😉🦀) It was so entertaining, the humor and banter had me laughing out loud, and I absolutely loved all the animals! It was so well written, the story came to life in my mind so easily. Cassie and Noah felt like such genuine and authentic characters, I truly loved their story! And the narrator did an amazing job bringing these characters to life! I cannot say enough good things about this book, I loved it soo much! 🩷📚
Thank you Madison Score, HambrightPR, & That's What She Said Publishing for this eARC & ALC of Wild About You, in exchange for an honest review.
To begin with, I couldn't believe August (by the time I finished listening to this book, it was almost the end of August 2026) was almost over and Autumn was right around the corner. Like, where did Summer go?!
Thankfully, I’d got one more perfect beach read for y’all who wanted to extend the last moments of Summer for just a little longer. Wild about You by Madison Score is now LIVE and it’s the cutest Summer read I've had this month!
Taking place in a quaint small town in Maryland, the one and only veterinarian, Cassie, sort of became a superstar after taming an escaped tiger, Huckleberry, on her first day in town. She then reunited with her long-lost half sisters, discovered a mysterious side of her family unbeknownst to her, and on top of that, dealt with her grumpy lumberjack of a landlord, Noah.
Little did Cassie know, this little town would end up being her safe haven with its people fully embracing her for who she was, the animals in the sanctuary her trustworthy support system, and most importantly, the said grumpy neighbor/landlord the love of her life despite all of her emotional baggage.
What I adored most about this book was the exotic animals Cassie helped with and the people she met. The prominent small-town charms never failed to make me fall even more in love with these characters, and I was utterly mesmerized with the heartwarming encounter in this story.
Better yet, the single narrator for this book, Emma Wilder, did a phenomenal job portraying the protagonists, further capturing my attention through and through.
All in all, please go check out this book NOW! Don’t hesitate to grab yourself a copy because how could you not with this adorable cover!?
Me starting Wild About You: I'm getting Lucy Score vibes here
Midway through Wild About You: Madison Score is Lucy Score's SISTER???!!!
My first Madison Score novel and certainly won't be my last! This was utterly and completely PERFECT in every way. Small town romance. Enemies to lovers. Forced proximity. Slow burn. Everything that I love!!
Our heroine is veterinarian Cassie Thompson. After a nasty divorce and looking for a fresh start, Cassie arrives in small town Aster Hollow, Maryland, to trace her roots.
What she didn't expect was to be met by an escaped tiger as soon as she arrives... And having to deal with the grumpy, tattooed Noah Reed at the same time. Let's just say, Cassie and Noah CLASH from the get go and spend a fair chunk of the plot absolutely on each other's nerves! They've both got a lot going on and all you can do is scream at them to sort their priorities out!! It's freaking clear that they've got the hots for another- do something about it already!!
Madison has made Wild About You unique- I honestly can't recall an animal sanctuary existing anywhere else, nor a meetcute involving a tiger! I loved all the various creatures that featured, especially Taco the mishevious rescued pup.
I also haven't recalled a plotline dealing with teenage pregnancy and adoption either. Cassie has to come to terms with her existence here and it's pretty full on. I'm glad that she eventually gets answers, bittersweet all the same.
Meanwhile, Noah is stuck in the deep dark hole that is grief. Best friend Bobby died three years earlier, and Noah has been blaming himself ever since. Come to think of it, Cass and Noah both experience some pretty heavy abandonment issues- which will become a deal breaker in the future.
Aster Hollow has been added to the map of fictional towns that I want to live in. What is it about small, quirky, community led towns that are so appealing?
5 🌟
Well, I’ve found a new auto-buy romance series! I loved everything about Wild About You, which is the first book in Madison’s new Aster Hollow series. I caught myself trying to figure out which character might be the main for the next book or two and can’t wait!
As for Wild About You, though, this story had everything I love. Our FMC is a veterinarian named Cassie who specializes in zoo medicine. She worked at San Diego zoo but is headed back home to Maryland to try to get a fresh start after an awful marriage. On her way back to Baltimore, she has a right place, right time moment when she comes across a situation in the small town of Aster Hollow. A tiger is on the loose after escaping during transport to an animal sanctuary and while the group transporting it is trying to contain it, Cassie is the perfect person to help them. After she assists with the rescue though, the grumpy son of the sanctuary owner, Noah, is less than grateful. He sees Cassie as somewhat of a know-it-all and is less than enthused about all of her recommendations for ways that they could make money to save their failing sanctuary.
Unlike Noah though, everyone else in the town is very happy to have Cassie around, even if it was just supposed to be a quick stop on her way to a hopeful job at a zoo in Baltimore or DC. Instead of moving on, though, Cassie decides to put down some roots and open up a vet practice in town where she can have the best of both worlds: helping big animals at the sanctuary and pets/ livestock for the locals too. Only problem is, she buys a house next to Noah who also so happens to be her landlord for the vet office building too. As you can guess, lots of grumpy, tension filled moments ensue between these two and you will love every minute!
This story does have its heavy moments too. Both Cassie and Noah are dealing with past trauma so make sure to check your trigger warnings but Madison handled all of those situations in a very thoughtful, sensitive way.
For my audio lovers, Emma Wilder did a fantastic job narrating this book! You forget it’s one person narrating the whole thing.
I can’t thank Madison and Hambright PR enough for the eARC, ALC, and also physical copy too! These opinions are my own.
🐅 Wild About You 🐅
((Spoiler-Free ARC Review))
Title- Wild About You
Author- Madison Score
Genre- Contemporary Romance
Trope City-
🐅 Grumpy x Sunshine
🐅 Emotional Scars
🐅 Forced Proximity
🐅 Furry Sidekick
🐅 Enemies to Lovers
Wild About you is such a sweet, small town romance. Cassie (FMC) is a friend to the animals. She’s left an old life behind to start clean and find contentment. Cassie’s ex husband was less than a man. He was manipulative, demeaning, absentee and ended up being something of a stalker. Noah (MMC) doesn’t adjust to change well. He and his mom are trying to maintain a sanctuary that’s aged and run down. His mom is getting older and takes on too much. Though Noah sees that, change is difficult. He’s against any new ideas. Cassie’s fresh start lands her living next to grumpy Noah. Her talents are needed and appreciated by everyone in town. Cassie finds herself really settling in to her new normal- even the forced, uncomfortable parts. The layers peel back to reveal some truly gut wrenching trauma for both of these characters. They’re dynamic in the best ways. Can they get through their past to find a true HEA?
Thank you Hambright PR for sharing this arc with me! 💋
Audiobook Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5’s
Thank you to the author @MadisonScore and @hambright_pr for the #gifted audiobook and book.
I really enjoyed this book! Madison Score is definitely an auto-read author for me, and I always know I’m going to have a fun time with her stories. She brings so much joy and entertainment to her love stories, and this one had me laughing, feeling all the feels, and completely invested!
I absolutely loved that the FMC, Cassie, is a very accomplished veterinarian. 🐾 And then there’s the grumpy MMC with ALL the emotional baggage—the kind of man who absolutely does not want to deal with his feelings until she comes along and somehow makes him want to fix himself. I loved watching their relationship develop, especially with the enemies-to-lovers and forced-proximity setup!
Add in a small town, a furry sidekick, unexpected family, emotional scars, and plenty of entertaining chaos, and you have such a fun romance. There is some spice, but it wasn’t too much for me. 🌶️.5
And the audiobook was SO good! Emma Wilder did a fantastic job with the narration, and I highly recommend listening to this one.
Thank you Madison Score + Hambright PR for my copy of Wild About You. 🤍 I received this book for review, all opinions are my own and given freely.
Wild About You is my first Madison Score book! Omg I’m a fan for life after this masterpiece. I absolutely loved this book! I loved Madison’s writing style and the way I lost myself in this book. I absolutely forgot I was reading and there is nothing better than that. Madison did a wonderful job handling sensitive topics, I do encourage you to check triggers before reading if you’re someone that has them.
Our FMC, Cassie, is a veterinarian looking for a fresh start after her divorce. Our MMC is Noah, the grumpy lumberjack who ends up being Cassie’s neighbor in small town Maryland. The banter between these two had me cracking up. The enemies to lovers vibes between them was done perfectly. The slow burn was slow burning. Watching the individual growth both characters go through was touching and I was absolutely rooting for them from the start.
My introduction to Madison Score, and what a great introduction it was!
From an opening chapter with a TIGER on the loose, to a verbally and financially abused woman growing and finding herself in a new town. From adoption to infertility to witnessing the death of your best friend, and not being able to save them.
Cassie and Noah had quite the past, but that’s what happens with age and it was refreshing and felt logical and new. I loved the layers and the mystery that came along with this HeA - and wow was I ever happy that Cassie and Noah were of no relation. I can certainly see going back to this tiny town in Maryland with other characters!
It was fun to hear about veterinarians, especially about those who care for large animals. A very fresh storyline.
I didn’t love the narration, it was obvious that there was a male POV but not clear in the narration.
A huge shoutout to the author and hambright pr for the opportunity to listen to and review this novel! It was my absolute pleasure.
YALL! This book had me hooked from page one. I read the first 50% in one day. I feel in love with Cassie immediately because what do you MEAN she pulled up, and put that man in his place instantly all while in heels while a tiger was on the loose?
I’m not going to lie, Noah did have to grow on me but it did not take long. The two of them together just clicked. I also imagined Noah as my husband the whole time because he also does woodworking and I think he’s sexy lol 💖
Overall rating 4.5/5 stars and now I MUST read any other Madison Score book that exists IMMEDIATELY! Thank you to Hambright PR for the ebook and audiobook as I am an immersive reader.
For the audiobook, I love Emma Wilde as a narrator so there will never be any complaints from me in that department. She narrates in a way that keeps me wanting more!
