Hands down a must read for all parents! It gives simple yet valuable ways to instill the love of reading. I love that it provides so many tips/suggestions: book lists, games, travel activities, using what you have at home, addressing screen time, parent friendly language explaining educator language, and variations that can be applied to multiple ages. The format and layout make it an easy read too. I appreciate that this book acknowledges that even though there are so many components to the reading puzzle, 5 min here or 5 min there with these tips, can and will make all the difference! So parents order this immediately and then read it immediately!

Pretty good book of tips for parents who don't know where or how to start teaching their kiddos to read. It's presented in an easy to understand nonjudgmental way. My only complaint is that the last chapter ( on technology related to literacy) seemed more like a throw away the authors were requested to add, rather than the more polished work in the other chapters.

For a parent that has no experience with reading whatsoever, this book is great. For me, it was meh and so basic I would give it 1 star. I did jot down a few ideas from the short book lists and recommended apps for kids, but that was the extent of what I got out of this book.

October 1, 2018A very well organized, quick reference guide on promoting literacy with your children. I think this is an ideal book for a busy parent that doesn't have time to read more than one book (har har har) on this subject.
