The trial begins. With Erika as her prosecutor, Natsuhi stands accused of murdering six members of her family and staff. As red and blue truths conflict and collide, Be-atrice must defend Natsuhi from her charges, hoping to prove instead that she--Beatrice the Golden Witch--is responsible for these crimes. But when the wicked witches of certainty and miracles take over the game board, can Battler wrest control from them?!

finally pulling some things together!! so so much happened in this one, but it does feel like it's pulling everything that's happened so far into one coherent place as we're heading into the sixth game. i'm looking forward to seeing these incarnations move into what i'm anticipating is the final game, and then we'll move forward from there!! i'm excited!!

I don’t know if I like Beatrice having a crush on Battler, but I’m just glad they’re finally moving on to the next game.
I really dislike Erika, her way of solving things and cornering Natsuhi. I was actually happy she lost in the current game. Also, I don’t feel sympathy towards the witches but I do like that Battler is the new Wizard in charge. He looked really cool right there.
The game was not solved as the previous ones but anyway, I’m just glad it ended. What I’m thinking is that Battler might be the baby who was meant to be dead few years ago –which would explain why he’s not his mom’s kid.
PREVIOUS REVIEWS: EP 1: Legend of the Golden Witch Volume 1 | Volume 2
this volume and the one before it kind of dragged, it was a lot of arguing and not so much splattering, but then there was this: "you will be thrown into the banquet of the goats as a sack of flesh to be devoured alive" and then "let us mince and crush, mince and crush" - so that was pleasant interlude.
This series is rated Older Teen and has some graphic violence, sexual content(not graphic enough for Mature rating), some strong language, as well as some disturbing loli visages because nothing is as scary as a bored eternally young witch. Of course if you have seen any of the previous volumes you probably know the gist of how dark this series can be.
Trial is in session and the illusionary court will pass judgment on what has happened in the 5th game of the Golden Witch Beatrice's game. Battler must put on his thinking cap as Erika shows us the extent of her obsession for her own truth and Battler must do it all with the restriction of Knox's commandments or he will be shut down. Also in this volume it seems we have reached a turning point in the series as Battler does his best to protect his Aunt Natsuhi from being judged. I'll be honest I heard Phoenix Wright music in my head as the Objections abound and it added to my excitement. :)
My fave part would have to be Battler come back at the end of the book before leading us into the next arc with new truth at his disposal. :)

Episode 5 really is Umineko at its absolutely best. Excellent pace, plenty of family drama, probably the best logic battles in the series, and a genuinely unforgettable ending. This whole volume is fantastic from top to bottom. Watching Natushi just get beaten down and disgraced at the Illusory Court is so hard to watch, but Battler's role in it all is just superb – from his failure to him eventually becoming the Endless Warlock. It's kind of crazy how obvious the "truth" is when you already know it, but that's what makes Umineko a great mystery. Loved this Episode and loved this volume.

This whole series is such a masterpiece! Extremely komplex and deep for a visual novel?! Further words cannot describe how amazing this series is. Definitely a must read if u like fantasy, philosophy, magic and games and all that good stuff!
Read for over a year. It was pretty great. Easily the second best so far. The first hald is very slow, but the second half is gas. So the average Umineko episode. Set up for a phenominal second half I cannot wait for.
Oh wow, the artwork in this volume is some of the most beautiful I've seen in this series yet! Ryukishi07's postscript called this volume the "turning point," and storywise, that's a very good description. This is the point where Battler finally understands what's going on, and the real world's truth finally begins to overtake the fantastic illusions of the Golden Witch. Emotionally, you have some massive torque with Beatrice's death and the dissolution of Natsuhi's dignity. The artwork handled everything pitch-perfectly. The translation was really good too. A part of me kind of wishes they hadn't prettied up Erika's original "Take that, dead people!" line (It underlined her pettiness, I thought), but the new one does flow better in English. If I have any regrets, it's that evidently Akitaka only did this arc of Umineko. But the good news is, I think he does the artwork for Rose Guns Days, so once I'm ready to move on to that series, I should be able to feast my eyes on some more beautiful artwork.

✨Writing a grouped review for the entirety of the manga and copy/pasting. I started reading this 6 months ago at the time of writing and read over a few months and don't remember specifics about every single volume except what I rated them ✨
Umineko has an intriguing premise and good execution which does a lot right. The author manages to create such eerie and scary atmospheres and have the reader on edge wondering what is going to happen next. I particularly enjoyed a lot of the locked room scenarios and discussions and explanations.
Where this manga fails is it's extreme repetitiveness. It wears down on the reader very quickly. As a result I'm not sure this is a manga I would recommend to many people.
I will eventually watch the anime, whilst a short run this may be something I'd be inclined to recommend more as the premise itself is well done.
¿¿Battler y Beato?? Chef kiss. Este fue el final que más me ha gustado porque alvvvvv cómo se chingan las hipótesis de Erika después de lo que le hizo a Natsuhi, luego ¿El final? Beato y Battler, true enemies to lovers.
