He wanted her for four weeks. Only she didn't really know why. TJ Walker and Mila Antonia Brookstone have known each other for years. He's her brother's best friend and she's admired his muscular body and handsome good looks since she was a teenager. Only he was never interested, until now. In a game of cat and mouse, TJ and Mila find themselves going back and forth like they always do, only this time something is different. They become closer on a summer trip to the lake house, only neither one really knows who is pursuing whom. And the secrets behind both pursuits are well hidden. TJ wants her to be his fake fiancé for a reason, but the reason she accepts might well surprise everyone. In the game of romance, can secrets ever truly lead to love? This novella is a free prequel to the full-length standalone novel Four Week Fiancé, that will be released on June 23rd. It will also be included in Four Week Fiancé when it is released, so you can read it first as a free download or you can read it as part of the novel on release day.
I really wanted to read the prequel because there is such an uproar over the fact that the second book hasn't been released. It's been pushed back 4 months and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
So at the end of the day, I will say I probably won't be reading the full length novel because Mila sounded more like a 12 year old than a 22 year old. Seems interesting but not for me.
Okay, so let's go. This book in one sentence: Okay, this is generic....wait...wait....Ohkay.
So I'm digging Helen Cooper's style. From what I can tell, she releases a prequel novella that gets you super interested and then dishes out the sequel novel (that will probably be super good).
About this book I started reading this book, the main character, Mila, almost immediately annoyed me. She literally talks for seven pages straight about the guy she's in love with who so happens to be her brother's best friend. She's like:
"Omg, He's so hot, but he thinks of me as a little sister, but he's so hot, but he's such a dick! But omg he's so hot! Did I mention how fucking hot he is?"
Not verbatim, but I mean it's pretty damn close. I thought this was the start of a really bad YA novel and I remember saying to my husband, "I'm so not down for this." But I still kept reading and I'm glad I did. I related to Mila, especially her lack of self control when it comes to pretty things. After she was done going on and on about how hot her secret crush was, she actually became a pretty decent character that I actually liked alot!
I started reading this book, for the story after a while and I was so excited to see how everything would play out and then the povs switched. It changed to the romantic interest's pov and boy
I really wanted to see how everything played out! I feel like there's going to be some twists and I'm actually stoked!! This one is going to be good and this is one book that I'm super excited for (if it could only be published fast enough!!!)
Is is worth a read? Yes! This will have you wanting more!
My Fake Fiancé by Helen Cooper Purchased: Kindle - Free My Rating: 2 of 5 Stars
What's it all about: Mila isn’t one to always choose the right guy, and that’s because she has always been comparing men to her first crush TJ Walker, her brother’s best friend. This story focuses on the beginnings of Mila and TJ and how they came to be.
The Best Parts: So, there was only like one thing I liked about this book and that was TJ. I felt like he was the best written character for this story and gave off s much life and personality.
The Worst Parts: Everything else. This story had nothing to it. It starts off with TJ asking Mila to be his fake fiancé, but then nothing more is mentioned because it is all flash backs. Mila is very young, but she is only 22, but her character to written as a teenager. Also, nothing happens. Nothing. This short story was a build up for NOTHING. This story felt useless in helping me gain any information about the full length novel. Also there were many grammatical and spelling errors, and the formatting did not fit my kindle.
Prequel To my Fake Fiancé. TJ and Mila's relationship is going to be extremely, fascinating, exciting and well I will say no more. We are in for a surprise. The games they play. Peroxide Barbie?
Can you give no stars? The conversation between young adults were written like teens. I don't know any adults who have conversations like these characters. None of them are likeable. How does Barbie go from being totally stupid to having a brain? Thank goodness it was just a prequel. I don't think I could have taken much more. I don't give bad reviews. I just don't review them. Hopefully, I'm saving you a 1 1/2 of your life.
'My Fake Fiancé' by Helen Cooper and J.S. Cooper is a fun quick read. This is the prequel to 'Four Week Fiancé' coming out June 23rd. This novella introduces readers to Mila, TJ, and Mila's friend Sally. I enjoyed this story and can not wait to see what happens next! Recommend to all fans of New Adult and Romance.
I got this free on ibooks so it was a preview of the first 5 chapters of what is a full story tilted four week fiancé. I'm very intrigued on how the story will continue since this ended with somewhat of a cliff hanger.
My Fake Fiance is a fun and fast read. The prequel is full banter between the characters Mila and TJ. Mila has always wanted TJ and TJ needs Mila. TJ has always thought of Mila as his friends little sister but during this trip Mila has other plans to show him that she is all woman. The side characters are a lot of fun as well. My Fake Fiance is a great tease of what is to come in Four Week Fiance. What will happen between Mila and TJ next? Great quick preview to these two characters.
okay this has my attention and hard. there are like 4 different plots going on and I'm so digging it..I am mad because now I'm sucked into another series but really who even needs a social life haha grab this freebie check it out I love this author
I am sorry, but this whole prequel sounds like it's coming from 14 year old. I am surprised at the high ratings. I am definitely not going to read the next one. Anyway, that's my two cents worth.
Can't wait for the rest of this book to come out! The prequel was really cute and Cooper developed the characters well enough to leave me wanting more and wondering what's up TJ's sleeve..
This is a novella that starts before the first book in the series! It is a cliffy!! I'm withholding my full opinion until I've read both parts 1 and 2 to this. :D
My Fake Fiancé is about a young woman, Mila that has been in love with her brother's best friend, TJ since she was a teenager. It includes her diary in flashbacks, her plan to seduce TJ that she plans with her best friend.
TJ has a new girlfriend, Barbie and she thinks TJ's name is Ken. They head to Mila's parents mountain cabin for a weekend and Barbie is nasty to both Mila and her best friend but super sweet to 'Ken'. TJ has an agenda for Mila and he is about to spring his plan on her when this prequel ends...
They are both immature and hard to like as characters.
This short prequel gives you some insight on what to expect in four week fiancé. These characters have some sort of chemistry that definitely makes you want more
This story was very short, but very interesting that I want to know what is going to happen. I thought Mila was just a little funny and showing some jealousy, but this is only the beginning. I look forward to reading the next book to get more from this story.
My Fake Fiance is an intriguing storyline, however, I feel as though Mila's character could have been a little stronger. I did like the storyline and will continue to read the next book to see if the characters become stronger and more relatable.
My Fake Fiancé is a deliciously fun and delightfully promising story of hidden agendas and non-stop laughs. This is a wonderful introduction to Four Week Fiancé which sounds absolutely amazing. This story gives you just enough to whet your appetite for the main course, and what a main course it promises to be!
Mila has had a huge crush on TJ since she was old enough to understand those thoughts. Throughout the years that small crush has been nurtured into full blown infatuation. Now, Mila has reached a cross-roads where she finally has a chance show TJ just how deep her feelings run for him. The question is whether TJ will cruelly reject her and make her feel like a huge idiot in the process. TJ has known of Mila’s feelings for him for a very long time, but he has promised her brother and his best friend that he wouldn’t do anything to hurt her and that includes flirting with her. However, TJ has an agenda this time that he intends on going through with. Only time will tell what exactly that means for Mila.
TJ and Mila are two very interesting characters that have a lot of potential, and their loaded history really packs a punch the longer that TJ pushes Mila away. With Mila’s full concentration on TJ, will he even stand a chance, or will she walk away with the shattered heart? Let’s not forget about Cody and Sally who also have some unfinished business themselves to deal with. This will certainly be one family trip that no one will be able to forget.
J. S. Cooper never fails to deliver truckload of emotion even in a very short novella. The mysterious pathways to the heart have been meticulously sorted out and efficiently used in each of her stories. They pack a huge punch and they never leave your heart. Don’t miss out on any of her outstanding books!
I was given an ARC Copy of My Fake Fiancé By the Author Helen Cooper in return for an honest review. This is Novella is a prequel to the full-length stand a lone novel Four Week Fiancé. Well, from just reading this novella I can tell you the Novel is going to be Hot and Crazy. Mila has been in love with her brother Cody’s best friend TJ Walker for ever. She declared in her Diary September 2008 that she wanted to Mary TJ Walker, and that someday he would see her for more than being an annoying little girl. There is 6 yr age difference between them and though they have shared a kiss hear and there that she has marked down in her diary as moving in the right direction nothing has yet changed or developed between them. Until now they are at her families lake house mila is 22 TJ is 28, along on this trip is Mila’s best friend Sally who is love with Cody and plans on seducing him just like Mila had planned to do with TJ, but he brought Barbie along, who thinks his name is Ken. Even though TJ has promised Cody that he would never get involved with his sister, he wants for himself, and now is going crazy because he thinks Mila has a fake boyfriend named Troy and Sally has added to this story to create even more doubt that Troy really exists. I found myself laughing out loud from the bantering that goes on between Mila and TJ, and also from the crazy shenanigans that go on between Mila and Sally. Thank you again for a very entertaining story and asking me to read and review. I am really looking forward to reading Four Week Fiancé’. Helen Cooper thank you for sharing your stories and your talent.
I have to start off by admitting I really do not like cliffhangers... If I know in advance that book is a cliff... I will wait and get all books at the same time. I like instant gratification. If I wait too long and the book isn't quick To release ... I'm on to other books and have forgotten what the first book was about. Okay........... That bring said, The four week fiancée book held my interest. I can't say I loved either the hero or heroine.... Yet. TJ is all over the board with what he wants. Mila wants TJ... And she will sacrifice her feelings for any part of him he will give her. Kinda sad for Mila. The whole Barbie situation makes me mad... She's a character you love to hate! I can see some twists and turns coming that will be very interesting.. There are some things going on that we are left in the dark about. I can see heartbreak coming, and I can only hope there's some major pining from the hero when that happens and redeems himself. TJ 's famous last words... That I think will bite him in the ass and cause him to possibly lose Mila until he realizes he's made a mistake... " The four weeks were just the beginning and I was going to make sure that my 4 week fiancé lived up to her side of the bargain in every way . No matter the cost." The story is being intricately woven as Tj's and Milas family businesses are in trouble and they are involving Mila unknowingly into the web. And add a contract from TJ for Mila and some kinky TJ stuff and it's a recipe for .... A great read !
