I'm reviewing this as part of a tour with Hygge Book Tours.
On first impressions, I felt the author wrote in a very no-nonsense kind of way, presenting both the characters and scenario in a way that seemed very realistic and relatable. Caroline's partner, Jack, didn't come home when expected, and hasn't replied to texts, but flowers arrive at the door with a mysterious note. So what's really going on?
The suspense kept building, and several chapters in, I found I couldn't put it down until I'd finished. The twists kept on coming, and I never knew what to expect next. I think I was about halfway through when I realised that I might have an emotional response to the outcome of the story.
This one satisfied a thriller craving for me, but the Yorkshire setting scratched my cosy mystery itch as well. It was also easy to read in one sitting.
Thank you to Hygge Book Tours, and to the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.
