Though novice witch Hailey Devereaux seems to have settled into her latest coven, she knows that it can't last. Tucked against the remote Alps of northern Italy, the Angioli coven is ill at ease with their newest member. Whispers and fearful glances follow her everywhere!

But the arrival of a Magus Corps major ends all that. Kieran McCallen isn't afraid of her singular ability. Instead he's been sent to nurture and test it. Though Hailey's waif-like and delicate beauty are charming, her power is the stuff of legend...

Each loners in their own way, Kieran glimpses Hailey's fiercely protective spirit when it comes to friends. For her part, Hailey dares to hope that she's found the person and place meant for her. But their bond is put to the test by danger and by duty, forcing each of them to impossible choices...

Hazel and her husband stopped being separate people years ago. They live their happy life in the always crowded, mostly sunny, and sometimes sweltering city of LA. Though they haven’t managed it yet, plans are afoot to add a kitty to the household, thereby giving the allergist fits.

Hazel has been writing full-time for several years, with some traditionally published work in other genres. But it’s her indie-published romance that fuels the creative fire. It turns out writing isn’t a job, it’s an obsession.

When you can pry Hazel’s fingers from the laptop, you’ll find her: on the elliptical watching a documentary, indulging her audiobook habit, or spending quality time with Candy Crush. Although she’s vegan, she’s a disaster in the kitchen. Luckily, potato chips and pinot noir come ready-made.

Please let me rant... DNF - I'm ending my read for this book, but not for the reason you may think. I actually love this authors writing style. I was pulled in from page one, I loved the entire concept of Witches an Warlocks. However, this book was free and about 150 pages. So, I went to check out some issues I was having. Come to find out they are all very short stories with cliff hangers. And, when I looked at the cover for book 3, I was scratching my head??? So, I looked at some of the reviews.... "f/f touching and kissing". I didn't sign up for that... Not interested. So, I guess the f/f was brief, but as much as I like Ms. Hunters writing I'm not finishing or continuing on with the series. Too many issues for me.

Plus, I'd be spending $15 on 5 more books that could have been done in probably two.
So, why the 5 stars, well just because I'm not interested in a genre that doesn't take away from writing and storyline skills. Thanks for listening to my rant...

Ok, I read this but feel it was a let down for me. I haven't read very many books from this author, now I'm not sure I would read more in this series. The ending of this book is a cliff-hanger, the sneak peak (maybe a chapter at the end) at the next book had a shocking development that I was not prepared for. So then I looked at the blurbs for the 5 other books in the series, not sure I like the direction they were going with this story. I also kept thinking I had missed a prior book with the world building, cause so much left me confused & not understanding. I wonder if this is more of a split from another of the authors series? That would explain the world building being lacking. Hailey & Keirnan are ok for characters, nothing memorable to make me want to read another book about her/them. I also felt their relationship just moved way too fast between them, seemed like a week or so passes before she's declaring she's in love with him. Then there's a lot of conflicting things going on in this book. Kiernan gave me emotional whiplash with his attitude towards Hailey, she's a potential weapon to test at first, then he loves her & then he just leaves her. I would like my time back spent reading this.

I enjoy Hazel Hunter's fantasy realm where wiccans (witches and warlocks) live in secret and are in constant danger from the Templars. I keep bumping on Templars as the bad guys. The Knights Templar were crusaders and fierce warriors, but not witch/heretic hunters. So that's a distraction. That said, the alpha male warlocks and courageous witches in these novels are great together and the steam factor high. Unlike the 'her warlock protector' series, this one doesn't move to a new couple with each book. In fact it has a cliffy feel where the last chapter could really be the first chapter of the next book.

3.5 stars.

Hailey is an outcast because her magical ability is being able to borrow energy from others to create whatever magic she wants. Keiran is part of the Magus Corp and has to assess Hailey's potential. The two get together but there are a lot of secrets and not a ton of trust.

I didn't love this. I thought their relationship was kinda messed up and the end was really not cool.

This book is hard to rate because parts of it were very interesting and I would like to read more but there were several squicky places that could have been DNF...soooo...a couple of spoilers ahead.

Magical mystical aspects of the story were intriguing and I liked that the Heroine was very concerned with ethics in using her gift by borrowing others powers, and she struggled with how to justify or live with taking someone's life in defense of others in need of protection.

I however was not sure why the author chose Templars as the Bad Guys, but this could have been a 3.5 star read for me. However I was thrown off by their insta-lust sex so early in the story, and spoiler ahead *the sex scene on the plane* was just ew, and I did not see how it advanced the plot or their romance. I really really did not like the graphic torture scene, and considered DNFing at that point.

Not sure I bought their instalove either, but understand that tantrically it could increase powers and fits for both of them, and there was a weird and frustrating cliffhanger ending. Overall I would say it was interesting enough that I would probably read the next book in the series, but the sneak peak for Book two that was included also has me questioning that. Final Rating: 2.5 Stars

I have mixed feelings about this book. The author’s writing style is rather formal, always saying things like “it is,” “cannot,” “do not,” etc. rather than the typical relaxed way people speak saying “it’s,” “can’t,” “don’t,” etc.

That said, for a novella, the story was decent. It just moved far too quickly and many things were left unexplained, especially the world building aspects. However, I did rather enjoy the idea of wiccans (witches AND warlocks) living in constant danger from the Templars, who want them all dead. Interesting storyline.

Lastly, I think a young girl (barely an adult) who lives in fear and constantly doubts herself and her abilities isn’t the best fit for a major romance. Especially when that romance happens after about a week or less of her knowing the very old near immortal warlock. Yet they jump into bed together quickly and soon after profess their undying love for each other? The steam factor between them was very high and burned hot, but still. And then he just leaves her? What? Sigh.

For now, I’m going to keep reading and see how things develop.

Found is the first book in the "Castle Coven" series by Hazel Hunter. Since this is the first book of hers I've read, I had no preconceived notions to how she wrote or what to expect. Well, I found out. She's given us a wonderful world of magic. Described and built so the reader can see the story in their mind as she's telling it. Her characters have very unique personalities, some more outgoing and others not so much, which makes them hard to get to know. Within the storyline and plot we were taking twists and turns with action, romance, danger and drama. Oh, and lets not forget the magic. This was a great book that shows signs of being a terrific series.

Captivating

I have never read a book by Hazel Hunter before now and that won't happen again. I felt a part of this story. Hailey and Kieran were captivating and you could feel the passion and sizzle between them. The magic of the plot and characters was amazing and I never saw the heart breaking ending for Hailey. I can not wait to read book two, to continue Hailey's story.

A surprisingly great read!

‘Found,’ was indeed, a great read. You get drawn into this storyline filled with witches, warlocks, and Templars; and get lost in it’s passionate and fiercely loyal characters. It is a rather long series, so of course, it leaves you wanting to read more of the main characters... It’s also a quick read and a surprisingly great one!

3,5 stars rounded down. The thing I liked the most is that the badass dangerous hero is a man enough to admit that he has feelings, that although they had sex the second day after they met, for him it wasn’t just sex. A pleasant surprise. But at the end he leaves the woman he apparently loves - just like that, out of the blue. WTF? This is why I rounded down.

Cliff hanger ending but there are more in the series. It was a very interesting take on the magical world with a different take on vampires and Templars. I enjoyed it and will definitely read more of her stuff.

I was intrigued by this paranormal witch book. It was either a short book or time flew by! It was definitely sensual! For 18 and up. Left you hanging. So you must read book 2 if you want answers or a conclusion.

Great read

Although i don't like cliffhangers, this on did not end so badly. It ended well enough in a point that shows a transition. The book at me hooked after just a few chapters. I cant wait to read the next book.

Really enjoyed the book ...not a fan of cliffhangers though it does make you want to get the next one. I loved our heroine and am looking forward to reading more about her.

The characters are well developed and stay true...even when you might not want them to.

Cliffhanger

Bah, a cliffhanger. I dislike how authors pull you in with half a story. If the story was good, I would BUY the next one. And the story was interesting. But I will not take the chance that the next one would also be a cliffhanger. Or the one after that.

The book left off at a really awkward place, and the next book (first few chapters) didn't address that awkwardness...

The blurb of this book is very intriguing and I was excited to get started. This is part of a 6 books series I believe that I am reading on KU. Its a fairly decent read but I do wish there were more details about a lot of things. More about Hailey's past and what her powers are. They are kinda vague. I just know in order for her to use them she "borrows" powers from other witches and warlocks she happens to be touching at the time. Its actually quite impressive. Different for sure. I also wanted to know more about Kieran as well. We know so little about these characters. I wanted to know more about her fellow classmates. She only has 2 friends. A 10 year old boy Luca and 16 year old Beatrice. I believe Hailey is in her early 20s and I am really not quite sure what goes on at the school/coven. So, there really needs to be more development in this story. Hailey and Kieran have a sort of attraction but its not really touched on that much for my liking. I mean they really jump into a physical "situation" really fast and early in the book. I say situation because its far from a relationship. We have no idea how these 2 really feel about each other til perhaps the end and even that is questionable. She's in it for sure but after him leaving her the way he did I really dont know. Then again he could have left because of her safety or he's ordered to. They dance around a lot of the emotional stuff. She's supposed to make a decision to go to The Castle to hone her skills in Wyoming or stay where she is. She's got a lot of potential but she's really scared a lot of the time. I did want to tell her to buck up and get over it and move on. I mean she's an adult and acts like a 16 year old. Funny thing is Beatrice who IS 16 acts more mature sometimes than she does. This does end on a cliffhanger. Not in the middle of a fight but to her new home for now. She really feels abandoned by Kieran because honestly thats all she's ever known. Everyone is afraid of her and what she can do. So, like a foster child she moves coven to coven. Hopefully things are better for her. I will continue the series.

A novella about Hailey, a novice witch with he unusual ability to siphon power from other witches and mages just by touch. Feared by covens as if she were a vampire, able to drain witches dry of their powers she has been bounced from one coven to another.

She has finally made friends and then a Magus comes to test her abilities. Although they get off to a bad start with Kieran trying to goad her into using her powers in anger, he soon learns that she can use her powers without that stimulus.

Together they explore they range of her power with a willing donor, Kieran. Until Templars are in the forest, their only goal to kill witches and they have captured Hailey's friend. Suddenly things change and not for the better.

I liked this novella, it was sweet and brought together so many genres. I will definitely look out for the next books.

Hailey had been passed around her entire life, first through the foster system and then because her ability makes her anathema to most witches. She thinks she might make a go of it with a coven in the Alps. Just as she is starting to feel comfortable, Kieran appears. He is a Major in the Magus Corps and he is there to evaluate her. She is unprepared for the way he makes her feel. When he announces that he will be taking her to the Castle in Wyoming, she feels confused. To add to her discomfort, he says he can't stay with her, so she is left alone again. This is the first in the series and ends with a cliff hanger.

Book on in the castle coven series is exciting. Danger, drama, action, romance, amazing characters, wonderful storyline and a whole lot more.

Major Kieran McCallen has come to a coven that Hailey Devereaux was been living at to test her but the two fall hard for each other and form a bound. Hailey is one of a few witches born of normal parents and she doesn't have her own inner power but she can use other witches and warlocks power.

there is danger, drama, and action. It's so well written and has lots of surprising twists and truly fun to follow. I have got to see what happens next!

This book is the 1st in the series. It leaves you guessing and wanting to see what happens next.

Hailey is a witch with the ability to absorb the powers of another witch or warlock by touch. Because of that power she has been bounced from different covens. While currently in a coven in Italy, the Magus Corp sends Kieran to evaluate her and possibly get her to move to Castle Coven in Wyoming.

After two different kidnappings from Templers, Hailey is faced with the decision to stay in Italy or go to Castle Coven....

I downloaded Found as a free novella from Amazon. I enjoyed the characters, but there are an awful lot of holes in the plot. And I can't believe how quickly the protagonists hopped into bed, it wasn't a seamless transition and I found it strange and formulaic (reminds me of the progression in Silverwood series), and possibly done for titillation rather than advancement of the storyline. I did enjoy the story, I just think it would have been better to make it longer to give more development to characters and background-- as it was, too rushed.

I was recently introduced to this author and this series. I love it. Hailey has lead such a lonely life. Abandoned at a young age, unwanted, and moved from place to place. When her super abilities emerge, she is ignored, feared, and taunted and teased. In spite of this, she is a loving, kind, person who is afraid of hurting anyone. After meeting Kieran and falling in live she emerges stronger and more confident, but heartache and troubles are still ahead, and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I love to read a book where it is hard to put down, and this one is all that and more. Hailey is a newly discovered witch, but not exactly a witch. She learned of her powers well after birth and of course because I do not like to spoil a good book, you really have to read it to see what I mean by that. She is currently at the Angioli Coven in Italy and has an opportunity to make her powers more useful, will she stay where she still feels unwanted or go where her heart is leading her. Grab the book, turn the pages and find out...Off to Abandoned now :-) ENJOY

Kiernan and Hailey have a love hate relationship, although I think Hailey thought it was love but he abandoned her when she needed him the most.No I love you or wait for me.Hailey is sent from one coven to another because they honestly did not know what to do with a powerful witch. She arrives at the coven in Wyoming and that's where the next book picks up the next story.

Excellent first book in series about wiccan

Hailey is an orphan who grew up in foster care when she is found to be a very powerful witch. Major Kieran McCallen is a member of Magus Corp and is sent to an Italian coven to test a young for her power and then to convince her to go to a coven in Wyoming. The story is well crafted and the characterization are Well-developed. Adult readers due to sexual and violent content.

Hunter does a good job building a world in just a few short pages. And therein lies the problem- the short pages. There's barely 150 of them on my iPad Nook app. And to add insult to injury? The rest of the series is not available in ebook format! WTF?
Oh, you can get a couple of them in Kindle, but you have to subscribe to their monthly surcharged service. No thank you.
I really wish these were available in epub format. I'm not going to be buying physical books.

Too bad.
