Lana has spent the last 9 years in school trying to get her architecture degree in record time. When her family decides to vacation for the summer in Kittle Falls after she graduates, she is more than ready for the break. She is definitely looking forward to the down time before she starts working at the same firm as her father. But after a trip to the emergency room where she discovers she has a heart condition, she decides it's time to get her priorities straight. Does she still want the same things that 18 year old Lana wanted or does she see her life heading in a different direction?

After his dad has a medical scare, Brayden decides that it's time to move back to Kittle Falls to be closer to his family. He'll work at the hospital that's 30 minutes outside of town until he can find enough doctors who are willing to help him open up a 24 hour Urgent Care clinic in Kittle Falls. With so much going on around Brayden it's causing him to step back and reevaluate his life. He knows that someday he would like to get married and have a family. But between working long hours at the hospital and working on getting the Urgent Care up and running, there is just no time for dating right now.

From the moment Lana and Brayden first laid eyes on each other they felt an instant connection. But dating is the furthest thing from both of their minds. After a couple of chance meetings they decide that maybe fate has something else in store for them.

I really liked Lana and Brayden's relationship. Yes, it was a little fast but when it's right, it's right! I also enjoyed the mystery aspect of the book. It was fun to see them figure out the 160 year old murder of their town's founder. Another plus for me was their families. I loved the closeness that they all shared. And little Ryland and Nolan were adorable! Such a fun age! :)

There were just two things that kind of bugged me. Lana's dad being one of them. The way he treated Lana when she told him she wasn't sure which direction she wanted her life to go in got on my nerves a bit. You're an adult for crying out loud! Act like one! I swear I wanted to Gibb's slap him a time or two. Haha. And Cruz.. what is up with the way he's talking?! At times he's normal but every once in awhile he would break out in "slang". I had a hard time believing that a man his age would be ending his sentences with "yo". I have noticed it in the 3 books I have read so far and I have to admit I am a bit nervous about his book. Not sure if I'll be able to handle the "dudes" and "yos". Lol. But other than that I really enjoyed the book. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

And my casting... *sigh* Love them! :)

I love this cozy little town and it's the perfect setting for a summer romance. Brayden is a doctor and is only recently back in his hometown, where the locals know not to get too involved with the tourists because they always leave. Things are different with Brayden and tourist, Lana--they have a cute meet in his doctor's office and it's an insta-attraction on both parts.

Brayden comes across as a very serious guy, who takes his work, life, and family...well, seriously. Lana has a lot of the same characteristics, getting through a tough college degree in near record time, yet she's more open to adventure and really latches on to an unsolved mystery involving the founder of this town. The two of them have some romantic and suspenseful adventures while trying to solve the case and in turn, they fall deeper for one another.

The mystery added a fun and different element to this family series, but it wasn't the main point. The romance happened too fast for me, but I loved that both characters felt the same way and their thoughts were clear on about that. Lana's father had me feeling a little angry about the way he was handling her career choice, but as a parent, I could see where he was coming from. I loved getting to know the Hunter family and some of the brothers a little better and look forward to their stories. I enjoyed the ending and the way it wrapped up, leaving me feeling satisfied. This is Book 2, but can stand alone. This is a great, light, clean and romantic, summer read!

Content: a cuss word or two; kissing (clean); nothing else of note. Clean!

This was a good read. Lana is on vacation with her family. she ends up in the ER. This is where she meets Brayden. They end up looking into the town history. This upsets someone and they have to deal with the consequences. Thankfully this works out for them and so does their relationship.

Seaside Heartbeats - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Cardiologist Brayden Hunter and architecture graduate Lana Summers get together in a love at first sight romance in Kittle Falls, where she's on a summer-long vacation with her family and his family runs the town bakery.

Their path to true love is straight and clear, until a chance comment on a local rumour made by by Brayden, piques Lana's interest in solving a centuries-old mystery that leads to clear and present danger to the happy couple and their loved ones. How will their investigation evolve?

Stacy Claflin writes a fascinating, believable, romance-with-a-twist story in Seaside Heartbeats, that's far from being a trite, run-of-the-mill potboiler. Why not try it for yourself?

Recommended to fans of Suzanne Jenkins, Pamela Fagan Hutchins and S.W. Hubbard.

The Hunters Boxed Set - All the stories of the Hunters Series are good. I've read several more of the eight besides the boxed set.

Seaside Surprises #1 - Pleasant surprise! Since this was my first book by Ms. Claflin, I was surprised. The author did great job with her writing, characters, and plot, which immerses the reader into the story. It's refreshing to read a decent book without explicit sex and profanity and stupidity. I'll be reading more of Ms. Claflin's book. She ranks with Maeve Binchy.

Seaside Heartbeats #2 - Intriguing. Another well written, funny romance with heartwarming characters that are real and a twisting plot giving suspense to the story. The Hunters are a good family and each story is fresh, no repeats.

Seaside Dances #3 - Little sad. A well written, intriguing romance with a couple of not so happy characters and all the rest of characters in this series. The plot twists from a sad, slow beginning into fast moving happiness. Not my favorite book of the Hunters series, but still an interesting read.

Seaside Kisses #4 - Heartwarming. A well written, interesting romance with well developed characters with realistic dialog and a good plot. The Hunters' stories may end the same way, HEA, but getting there is different for each Hunter and soulmate. Ms. Claflin does not disappoint the reader with these eight books.

Seaside Kisses - Unpleasant surprise. The author did a great job writing this book until the main characters went stupid. Why do many authors have their main characters stop believing the people they love and trust the word of people they don't know personally and know those people are usually scum/trouble? It was an unpleasant surprise, when one of my favorite authors did this near the end. A smart, successful woman goes stupid and insecure, instead of doing the right thing. But Ms. Claflin did take the heads out of the nether regions and put them back on the shoulders of the woman and the love interest. This was still a good book and the author is still one of my favorites.

Bayside Promises #8 - A heavy but with humor story. A well written, intense romance with interesting, believable characters. The heaviness of the father's destructive behavior towards his family damages his daughters, but they still have a sense of humor, although love is difficult. I didn't like the father, because of his destruction, but not everything is sunshine and roses. This book is kinda like watching Die Hard when it first hit the screen, it involved your emotions too hard when the causes were exposed to the girls' thought processes. It is a good story and worth reading.

Bayside Destinies #9 - A heavy but heartwarming story. A well written, intense romance with an intriguing dilemma for the main characters. The characters, all known to us from the rest of the series, are still interesting and appealing. The dialog is realistic and the plot immerses the reader fully. The book is full of humor, even with the dark subject material. Another hard to put down book by an author who can write an interesting story without vulgar language and sex.

Bayside Opposites #10 - Heartwarming romance. A well written, lighthearted romance with two wonderful characters, actually three including the great state of Texas. The well thought out plot and developed characters keep the reader in suspense until the book ends, which is way to soon since the story is so good. Ms. Claflin never fails to deliver a good story and I look forward to reading more of her books.

I have voluntarily submitted this review after reading this story, in an advanced copy of "The Hunters boxed set".
The Hunter family eldest son, Brayden, was a Cardiologist, who, after his father's stroke, decided to return to his hometown of Kittle Falls. Whilst working at the nearest hospital, he encounters a young woman, Lana that caught his attention from the moment he glimpsed her in his waiting room.
Neither of two would realize what lay ahead of them, especially when the local mystery of the towns original founder's disappearance, leads them through very sinister and life threatening events.
A really great read!!

Stacy Claflin is a most impressive writer, after reading Seaside surprises I could not wait for the next book and read it from cover to cover as soon as I could.
Don't miss the opportunity to catch up with the Hunters and what's next for their family !

Lana has finally finished her education and is now a fully fledged Architect, spending the summer with her family in Kittle Falls.
Brayden is an overworked cardiologist who is trying to open his own practice in his hometown of Kittle Falls.
Follow their story, from the instant attraction, to trying to solve the long lost mystery of what happened to Billy Kittle 160 years ago !

I have also read book 1 Seaside Surprises & book 5 Seaside Christmas and this one Seaside Heartbeats is my favorite so far. I liked the "mystery" that was included in this book as well as Brayden and Lana's romance. I loved that it was a clean romance, get tired of the sex scenes in books. It was "love at first meet" but liked how the author developed the characters and their relationship. Would recommend this series and can't wait to read books 2 & 4!!!

A light and easy read without a lot of the drama that some romance novels come with from one of the characters having a secret. There is a mystery thrown in that spices the story up and makes it more interesting. I love the family effect. The way they both interact with their families. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Exciting things can happen while on vacation.

When Lana and her family rented a house on the beach for the summer the plan was to rest and relax and just enjoy being together as a family. Lana could never have imagined how her life would change. This story has a few twists, some mystery and some wonderful and exciting moments.

Romance with a hint of mystery and suspense

Perfect level of suspense, I loved the mystery that was woven within, the love story was fantastic and had just enough subplots to keep me intrigued. The romance was sweet and clean, minimal violence with the suspense, overall, I'd rate it PG.

Everyone who ever grew up near or in a tourist town knows that tourists are no-no’s for long term relationships. Then there is Brayden and Lana. Lana the tourist, visiting for the summer with her family and Brayden the cardiologist with dreams to stay in Kittle Falls forever. Of course, they meet and sparks fly.

The romance between these two is great. It is an instant attraction yet they both try to deny it and not act on their feelings. When they finally do get to know each other, they really get to know each other. It is a PG rated romance. They are attracted yet both want more than just some quick fun. Their looks are steamy, the kisses even hotter, but it is their personalities that make their relationship turn into something more.

While the romance in this book is fun, the mystery is great also. I loved that they decided to investigate a 160 year old disappearance together. I had ideas as to what might have happen but Stacy Claflin kept me guessing. I always love finding out the history of a place and Kittle Falls has a lot of history.

This is Book 2 of the series, yet it can be read as a stand alone. The Hunter family is one that I cannot wait to learn more about.

**Thank you Stacy Claflin for providing me a review copy.**

I got this one for free and thought I'd give it a shot.

Lana is an architect fresh out of school, home to the beach for the summer, before starting a job in the same firm as her dad. Brayden is a cardiologist, nearing burnout, but hoping to build his own building soon and get out from under the long shifts at the hospital. Neither have dated much and both are workaholics. Match made in heaven, right?

Lana goes into Brayden's office for a heart episode and the rest is history. Meanwhile, there is a mystery in their little town--the founder was a gold prospector who disappeared some 150 years ago, and his remains were never found. Together Lana and Brayden decide to do a little digging and see what they can find.

For just the romance, this would have been 2 stars for me. Neither character has any flaws! Lana is beautiful, has the voice of an angel, talented architect, easy going, etc., etc. Brayden is great with kids, a successful doctor, handsome, buff, etc., etc... Some of the dialogue and descriptions had me rolling my eyes a bit.

The addition of the mystery kicked it up to 3 stars. It was definitely a subplot, with nothing too intense, but at least there was SOMETHING to save it from being an entire book of intensely gazing into each other's [amazing] eyes.

I appreciated that Claflin kept it clean throughout.

This book had lots of potential. Unfortunately, it fell flat. The dialogue was cheesy throughout. The men spoke too girly for my taste. Which man calls something 'divine' when referring to food? No men I know use that word. That was just one instance. There were some typos where characters were mixed up. The instant attraction between the MC's was understandable, but that's all it was-attraction bordering on lust through the whole story. I like more depth to characters relationships. Cruz's vocabulary (or lack of it) bugged me. I did like the mystery part of the story. I wasn't expecting that when I started the book. That was the only thing that kept me reading- to find out what happened with old man Kittle. I love the cover. I would probably try one more by this author to see if the writing progresses.

Nice short continuation of the series

I really enjoyed Seaside Surprises and wanted to discover what would happen to Brayden Hunter in Seaside Heartbeats.

I liked the characters of Lana and Brayden and how their story ended. I additionally liked the history of the town of Kittle Falls and how Lana and Brayden solved the mystery surrounding the town founder's death. However, I would have liked a little more tension and suspense that was in the first novel.

Overall, a nice sequel to the Seaside Hunters series and I would recommend this novel (and series) to those who like short, sweet romance books. Note, you do NOT have to have read Seaside Surprises to read Seaside Heartbeats but it is nice to know what has happened between Jake and Tiffany.

Summer Romance

Dr. Braydon Hunter, cardiologist, has moved home to be closer to his family. Lana Summers has come to the beach with her family for the summer. An unknown heart condition puts Lana directly into Braydon's path. Sparks immediately start flying between the two of them. Getting to know each other, they stumble upon a century old mystery. Deciding to try and solve it, they encounter danger around every corner. Braydon is the oldest of the five Hunter brothers, so there will be plenty more books in this series. The characters are warm and caring, and the locations are beautifully written.
