Unknown to young Jake McGee, a pact with God caused his grandfather to mysteriously disappear while he hiked alone in the State Game Lands near his home. Search teams found nothing. All of the McGee family eventually resigned itself to life without Gramps...everyone except seven-year-old Jake. Straight through his middle school years he covertly searched for the answers he needed. When he discovered his Grandmother McGee was TELEPATHIC, and when he discovered the girl next door was MORE THAN JUST A GIRL, his middle school years kicked into a higher gear. RABBIT TRAILS is a tale recalled by Jake after his teenage years have passed. He shares not only shocking surprises about his grandparents, but also subtle discoveries regarding his own ADOLESCENCE and the BULLYING he endured as well. Divine Intervention, family, and friendship play a vital role in Jake's discoveries.
Still today (Jan. 2023) I am a Goodreads.com virgin. Be patient with me...be gentle. More than a few have advised that I join in the hopes of not only viewing the opinions of others on books in general, but [for more selfish reasons] to enhance my chances of getting any of you to read my very own self-published books RABBIT TRAILS, BIRDS ON A WIRE, SLOW FIRE BURNING, TWIRL THE SQUIRREL WANTS TO TALK, ONE ACT OF KINDNESS as well as my most recent: I FINALLY GET IT.
Since self-publishing each, they have received excellent reviews here on Good Reads, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon. That gives me hope. When readers reach out directly to share their compliments, they give me the proverbial "shot in the arm". All constructive feedback is appreciated, positive and negative, as long as it's meant to be helpful.
My beautiful bride Kay and I live in Hawley, PA in a 175 year old structure that has been home to four generations of family members. Located in scenic Wayne County, the region provides inspiration for many of my settings in my tales. While enjoying careers in education together, we have raised two sons, two daughters, and two basset hounds. To date, we have six grandchildren but no puppies.
My challenge is to increase the number of readers outside of Northeastern PA who know my books exist. Slowly I hear from more and more, and I hope the numbers continue to grow. Here's my website for those of you who would like a peek: www.WillWyckoffbooks.com. - Will -
I read Mr Wyckoff's first book BIRDS ON A WIRE and loved it! So when I discovered he had written a second, I was anxious to read that one as well. It was different from his first in that it was a YA book, however I enjoyed it throughly! It is definitely a book all ages will enjoy reading whether you are relating to it as a teen now or looking back to your past teenage years. It still had the wonderful character development and the stronge connections between family and friends. Mr Wyckoff touched on issues such as bullying, loyalty, and young love which he wove through a unique story full of suspense with many twists and turns and a big surprise ending. I look forward to reading his next book!
I just loved this book. Having read Will Wyckoff's first book and thoroughly enjoying his writing style, his characters and ability to make you feel like you are "there", I was sure I was not going to be disappointed. Which I most certainly wasn't. But I must say, I most certainly was surprised by how I was going to enjoy Rabbit Trails. You come to know the characters, the land, and yes the dog, I will admit to being a huge fan of Bassets, however, there is much more to this book. Rabbit Trails truly holds several surprises and something very special for readers of all ages beyond the description you may read about this book.
Such a surprise! I'd read Wyckoff's Birds on a Wire and loved it, and this was every bit as well told; however, the storyline is vastly difference. The only constant I see between both of his books is the influence of family and friends. I like that. It's realistic. Things don't always go well amongst family members and friends. Despite the characters being young, I felt as if I took a stroll down Memory Lane as I compared my adolescence with theirs. Some things haven't changed that much...including the presence of bullies. Great read!
Another excellent book by Will Wyckoff. A great read for both young and old. Good story line with wonderful Rabbit Trails that enhance the story line. The turns this one took are very unexpected. The characters are personable. They make you feel like you would be welcome to join them at their home anytime. If you haven't read this one add it to your list to read.
