Glagnodian's character, resolve and strength were fostered and forged in a life long pledge to protect his king and his kingdom. His skills and abilities were pushed to perfection in arduous training since early childhood and tested in battle until victory or death, never defeat or surrender.
Glagnodian was a Royal Guardian fiercely loyal to his lord, king Arithmious, and their kingdom Croftshire. Glagnodian's sole purpose and desire in life was to serve his king and kingdom.
Although Glagnodian's skills, abilities and purpose came from his training and life long pledge, his desires, just like any other man's, came from his heart and had a will of its own.
A beautiful woman named Alliastella was quickly becoming the center of his desire. He was equally her desire but this could not be for Glagnodian's desire was spoken for by life long pledge to his king and kingdom.
A powerful evil force of unknown origin, at the time, has forced Glagnodian's heart to choose between his two desires. Glagnodian's choice proved deadly.
Now with his heart empty of desire and love but full of regret, guilt, hatred and venom he sets out with his dwarf companion, Irik, on an epic journey. They travel to strange new territories far away from their homeland in search of vengeance but what they discover will eclipse their darkest fears and imagination.
Born and raised in the midwest meant Aaron would have to travel to see the mountains, ocean, desert, temperate rain forest and everyplace in between. Reading and writing allows Aaron to visit places that are exciting, dangerous, and exotic. It also allows him to meet new people, battle with powerful enemies, fall in love and get his heart broken and all the while he won't have to pay extra for a second suitcase or put on sunscreen.
Aaron has always enjoyed writing and reading. In the past he worked at the local college as a peer writing tutor. He did this partly for part time income and because he enjoyed it so much. Sharing and collaborating with passionate writers and avid readers simply felt right to Aaron. Years after this, he decided it was time to sit down, write and publish so he could share and engage with an even larger community.
I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest.
I loved this book! It was so full of action. The main character was so clever. Being able to see how his mind works was amazing. I loved the connection between Glagnodian and Irik. Mr Millar knows how to make you cheer yet cringe all at the same time. I cannot wait to read the next book! Thank you again for sending it Aaron!
I love the cover and the blurb is well written. In fact, once I read the blurb I couldn't wait to order a copy. The characters are interesting, especially the villains King Chavic and Braelock. The fight scenes are very vivid and detailed. There are some minor things that took away from the story. For instance, Glagnodian was so in love with Aliastella that he left his post of protecting Queen Corina. Yet, from the moment he met Flissetta, he was focusing on her beautiful face and sensual curves. Aliastella became more of an afterthought. There was something about the writing style that distracted me at times. In fairness to the author, this is more of a personal thing for me. Even though, I found some things mildly problematic, I will continue the series. The story line is fascinating and I look forward to seeing where the journey takes the characters.
This book was a Fantastic Summer Read! Non-stop action. Great characters and adventure! I particularly liked Braelock and Kane, two of the stories characters. If you are looking for a fantasy adventure that's a real page turner, I would recommend picking up this book.
This book reads like an epic Dungeons & Dragons quest. You have the rough but honorable Human soldier, the smart and sexy Ranger, and the loyal Dwarf warrior. There are epic battles and sneaky missions, a bit of pending romance to tie it all together. I can't wait to read what happens next.
I loved the action and suspense! The characters were unique and varied, each with their own story. It was unpredictable and imaginative. I highly recommend it!
Adventurous and full of unpredictable twists which is refreshing for me, as a reader, when the expected plot takes a turn and elevates the main character to a higher intellectual level. The author tells the story with much detail and does not leave the reader waiting, but rather keeps the story continuously at an entertainment level. All the characters were well-presented and blended perfectly in with this fantasy storyline. As much as I enjoyed the main character, Glagnodian, I felt he was too obsessed with Flissetta. This obsession did not seem to match his personality as it was presented in the story. I enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to continuing the story in book 2.
Love the action in this book. And all the details in it.
The villains, they are such an interesting characters, want to know more about them. Was amazing to be in Glagnodian's head! The way he thinks and acts, his abilities and how loyal his action are, made me fall in love with this character. The fights are so real! Is incredible how detailed they feel. There is a little bit of love story and is really nice how it all happens.
The storyline is really good! The writing style was so descriptive and detailed that you can even feel yourself in it.
Millar writes - again, in such a way that you'd have to be inhuman if you don't fall in love with at least one of the characters. The most obvious is Glagnodian, however he isn't the only interesting character. He is without doubt one of the most intriguing, though - what's going on in his head, one can only imagine. It's endless! Not only the characters are developed well. So is the plot. Revenge (in the making) at it's sweetest! Carefully worked out and step by step, the man with a plan's pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place. It was a true joy to be part of it. Packed with action, it's hard to put this book down!
This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I liked it a lot! There's action from the beginning right until the end, which I love in a medievalish-sword-battles stories. All the characters and places are well described. To be read for sure!!
