EXCUSE ME, JENNIFER HARRISON. WE NEED TO DISCUSS YOUR AUDACITY.

A new-to-me author, and you decided to introduce yourself by emotionally assaulting me in the PROLOGUE?!

MA’AM. I HADN’T EVEN SETTLED INTO MY READING POSITION.

I was angry. I was heartbroken. I was already staring at my Kindle like it owed me compensation. And somehow, between all that pain, you managed to give me banter, butterflies, found family, and a grumpy underground fighter who has no business being this swoon-worthy.

FOUR STARS, TWO PEPPERS, AND MY EMOTIONAL STABILITY HAS LEFT THE CHAT.

Paige is trying to start over after prison. Everyone knows her as the girl who stole a horse, but nobody seems terribly interested in WHY. Apparently having a record means the world gets to decide your entire identity forever.

I BEG YOUR FINEST PARDON?!

Her career prospects are uncertain, people are quick to judge, and she’s fighting to build something worthwhile out of the life she’s been handed. What I loved was that her story wasn’t just about finding a man who would love her. It was about pursuing her dreams, rebuilding confidence, and refusing to let her worst chapter become her entire biography.

YES, GIRL. GO GET YOUR LIFE BACK.

And then there’s Xander.

Quiet. Guarded. Protective. Working behind a bar and fighting to keep his mind occupied because apparently this man would rather take a punch than sit comfortably with his feelings.

A grumpy underground fighter who falls first and is secretly a sweetheart?

SIR, THAT IS A VERY SPECIFIC ATTACK ON MY PERSONAL WEAKNESSES.

But what makes him special isn’t just the protective streak or the smirk I could practically SEE through the pages.

It’s how he looks at Paige.

Where other people see her record, he sees her effort. Her courage. The woman she’s becoming.

And Paige, in turn, sees more than the walls Xander has built around himself.

Neither of them is defined solely by what happened before they met.

AND THAT? THAT’S MY KIND OF ROMANCE.

The slow burn and yearning were DELICIOUS. Those little looks, the tension, the conversations, the KITCHEN SCENE?!

HELLO?!

At one point I was highlighting so much dialogue that I might as well have highlighted the entire fluffing book.

And the banter wasn’t limited to the main couple. Paige’s relationship with her brother, Xander’s friendships, and the people around Falcon Pointe gave this story so much warmth. I love when side characters feel like people you’d actually want to know instead of decorative furniture with names.

And yes, I am already demanding more happiness for Steven.

GIVE THAT MAN HIS TURN, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

But the part of this book that stayed with me most wasn’t the flirting or the spice.

It was Xander’s grief.

His loss of a child hit me in a place I wasn’t prepared to revisit. I’ve experienced the loss of my own baby girl, Tessa, and there were moments in Xander’s story that felt so close to my own experience that I physically had to stop reading.

I could have devoured this book in one sitting. Instead, I had to put it down because I couldn’t stop crying.

There are losses you don’t simply leave behind as life moves forward. You carry the love, the memories, and all the futures you imagined but never got to experience.

I carry Tessa with me every day. I have a dragonfly tattoo for her—a small, permanent piece of my daughter that comes with me into every new chapter of my life. 🤍

Reading Xander reminded me of something important: moving forward doesn’t mean leaving someone behind.

Grief and happiness can live in the same heart. Loving someone new, building a future, even laughing again—none of those things lessen the love you still carry for the person you lost.

And watching Xander begin to allow himself that possibility?

ABSOLUTELY BROKE ME.

It also made me want to climb directly into my Kindle and throw hands with certain people.

Because some of the assumptions made about him?!

THE DECISIONS?!

COULD WE PERHAPS GATHER THE FACTS BEFORE RUINING SOMEONE’S LIFE?!

I was furious on his behalf. Not cute, mildly irritated furious. I’m talking pacing-around-the-room, ready-to-file-a-fictional-complaint furious.

But that anger made the moments of care, understanding, and found family even more meaningful.

This story has pain, yes. But it also has humor, tenderness, hope, and the reminder that redemption isn’t reserved for people with spotless histories.

FINAL VERDICT:

Condemned kept me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh, made me swoon, and then casually reached into my chest and squeezed my heart.

Paige’s determination to reclaim her future and Xander’s journey through grief were what made this romance memorable for me. I loved their chemistry, their banter, and the people who stood beside them.

Jennifer Harrison, you have officially gained a new reader. Consider your backlist in danger.

I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to read an ARC, and even more grateful for a story that reminded me the worst thing that has happened to us does not have to decide everything that happens next.

Thank you for Paige and Xander, for the hope woven through their story, and for giving me a romance that made me FEEL.

Now, respectfully—

STEVEN. YOUR HAPPILY EVER AFTER. I WANT IT ON MY DESK. 😂🤍

A romance with heart.

Paige's future is uncertain when she gets out of prison. With only her brother as someone she can lean on, she forges her own path. Xander has lost love and more. When he meets Paige by chance, it's obvious their pasts are pushing them together. There are issues, secrets, and loss that need to be delt with. Can they come together and move on from the pasts that hold them back?

This was a beautiful story, and I think anyone who loves the longing romances will enjoy this.

Omgosh, both Paige and Xander went through so much in life. To see these two come together and be the rich that they need for one another, stole my heart. This was emotional and heartfelt. I was so captivated by this. It was such a beautiful story.

🤍 ARC Review | Condemned by Jennifer Harrison

I don’t think I have ever been so angry, heartbroken, and emotional from just the prologue of a book. I hadn’t even really started the story yet and Jennifer Harrison already had me feeling everything. 😭

And somehow, after ripping my heart out right from the beginning, this book also had me laughing, smiling, swooning, and highlighting entire freaking pages because I loved these characters and their interactions so much.

THE BANTER. 😂🤍

The banter between Paige and Xander was absolutely everything, but honestly, I loved the banter between all of these characters. There were so many cute and hilarious moments that had me sitting there smiling at my kindle. Even the side characters completely won me over. I loved Paige’s relationship with her brother, Xander’s friendships, and the found family woven throughout this story.

And Paige chasing her dreams?! YES GIRL. GO LIVE YOUR DREAMS. 🥹👏🏻 There were actually moments in her story that made me think about my own dreams and reminded me why I need to keep pushing toward them even when things feel overwhelming.

But let’s talk about Xander because…

Ughhhhh. THIS MAN. 😭🫠

New book husband officially unlocked.

A grumpy, protective underground fighter who is secretly an absolute sweetheart and gentleman underneath it all?! AND HE FALLS FIRST?! Jennifer, what exactly was I supposed to do with that?! Just absolutely swooning over here!

The yearning. The slow burn. The tension. The little looks and interactions. The kitchen scene?! I swear I could picture Xander’s smirk and every single one of his facial expressions. I highlighted scenes. I highlighted conversations. At some point I was basically highlighting whole pages because I loved Paige and Xander together that freaking much.

But underneath all those moments that made me laugh and swoon is a story about grief, forgiveness, redemption, found family, healing, and second chances.

And that’s where this book became incredibly personal for me.

I don’t think I’ve ever related to an MMC quite the way I related to Xander.

Xander’s grief surrounding the loss of his child was incredibly difficult for me to read because I have experienced the loss of my own baby girl, Tessa. There were moments when his thoughts surrounding that loss hit so close to home that I had to stop reading. I know I could have devoured this book in one sitting, but there came a point where I physically needed to put it down because I couldn’t stop crying.

There is something about losing someone you once had within your grasp and then having to continue living in a world where everyone else keeps moving forward. You carry the memories, the love, and all of those thoughts about what could have been with you.

I carry Tessa with me everywhere I go. I have a dragonfly tattoo for her, a permanent little piece of her that I get to carry with me through every chapter of my own life. 🤍

And reading Xander’s story reminded me that carrying someone with you doesn’t mean you’re incapable of moving forward. Grief and healing can exist in the same heart. You can hold onto the person you lost, love them forever, and still allow yourself to find happiness, love, and a future.

That part of Xander’s journey absolutely broke me.

There were also moments when I was furious on his behalf. I wanted to climb through my kindle and punch certain people directly in the nose because SIR, MAYBE GET THE WHOLE STORY FIRST?! Watching Xander live with the consequences of other people’s assumptions and decisions had me genuinely angry.

Which made watching him find people who truly love him, stand beside him, and give him the family and happiness he deserves that much more beautiful. 🥹

Jennifer Harrison has officially gained a new reader because I will absolutely be going through that backlist now.

Jennifer, thank you for Paige and Xander. Thank you for writing a story that reminded me that the worst thing that has happened to us doesn’t have to define everything that comes afterward. And thank you for giving Xander the second chance, love, friendships, and happiness he deserved.

I’m incredibly grateful that I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of Condemned, and I’m so excited that Paige and Xander’s story is finally available for everyone else to devour.

I can’t wait to return to Falcon Pointe.

And now…

IT’S STEVEN’S TURN. GIVE THAT MAN HIS HAPPINESS AND LOVE. 😂🤍

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions. 💜

As always, please remember that reading is subjective. These are my own thoughts, feelings, and opinions, and they may be different from yours. 🫶🏽

Happy reading, lovelies! 🥰📚

Condemned is a beautiful, delicate love story.
It brings together Paige and Xander, two characters in desperate need of healing for very different reasons.

Paige has been 'condemned', imprisoned for doing something that is technically a crime but was morally absolutely the right thing to do. On her release, she stays with her brother and initially volunteers at a horse rescue ranch - one that's extremely important to her. Eventually the volunteering turns into paying work and later a place to stay.

Xander hasn’t done anything to deserve what he’s gone through and has been trying to heal ever since. He takes part in organised, illegal fights to numb himself and works in a bar the rest of the time. It’s the same bar that Paige walks into one day while waiting for her brother to pick her up from work. His attraction to Paige starts quietly - he notices her, but lets her be. He keeps running into her though, even lending her his coat at some point, and this develops into more.

Horses play an enormously important role in this book. Paige steals one - leading to her prison sentence - and helps treat, look after and train abused horses at the ranch. She approaches them with caution and care, allowing them to come to her rather than forcing them to obey. Her approach to horses is echoed in the way her relationship with Xander develops - they approach each other so cautiously, carefully and gently that by the end I was convinced that this could be anything other than love.

There’s a little bit of spice (very light), but the story is the main and strongest feature of this book. The chapters alternate in past tense first person POV between Paige and Xander - I usually prefer present tense, but this book is so well written that I didn’t even notice the past tense until I was well advanced. It’s also quite a long book, but I didn’t find this an issue at all as the story really does need time to develop, given Xander and Paige’s personalities and backgrounds, particularly the hurt they're trying to overcome. They need to learn to trust each other. There is a third-act breakup which made me want to shake Xander and, afterwards, Paige, but the reasons for it are important to the storyline.

The book also pays attention to Paige and Xander’s development outside their relationship, including with side characters, which made the story all the more interesting and added some humour. I’m secretly hoping one of the next books in the series will feature Steven - I’m also going to go back and read the already published books in this series.

All in all, if you like slow-burn love stories featuring healing MCs, careful touches and quiet love then this is definitely a book for you.

Many thanks to Jennifer Harrison and Hayling Bookstorm for the ARC!

What if you served your time, got out of prison, and realized your real sentence was just beginning?

Condemned follows Paige and Xander, two people trying to escape their pasts and the sentences they’ve handed themselves.

Paige went to prison for stealing a horse. Now she’s out and trying to rebuild her life, but no one cares why she did it. To everyone else, she’ll always be an ex-con, a criminal, and the girl with a record.

Xander came to Falcon Pointe carrying wounds of his own. He spends his time working at his buddy’s bar and fighting because that’s how he copes with life. When they meet, they see each other in a way no one else does.

I started this book one day, read into the night, and almost made a midnight video because I was crying. Then I woke up and finished it first thing the next morning.

I loved it! There were so many emotional moments, twists I didn’t see coming, and beautiful writing. Jennifer Harrison will rip you apart and then put you back together again.

Her books have emotional, heavy storylines, so definitely check your trigger warnings. But they also have an HEA. I hope that’s not a spoiler, but I feel like people need to know that before agreeing to be emotionally destroyed. 😂

Condemned is book three in the Falcon Pointe series. The books don’t have to be read in order, but I recommend starting with Addicted and then reading Obsessed so you’ll already know the characters.

Jennifer is an indie author, and if you’re looking for a new author to support, here you go! If she writes it, I’ll read it.

Thank you to Hayling Book Storm and Jennifer Harrison for the opportunity to read this book early!

I’m such a sucker for two people who have been through it finding softness and safety in each other, and Condemned absolutely got me with Paige and Xander.

Paige’s story especially pulled at me. She’s served her sentence, but getting out doesn’t mean she’s actually free from the judgment attached to what she did. I really appreciated how much of her journey was about learning to separate her worst decision from who she actually is and allowing herself to believe she still deserves a future.

And Xander? The way he simply sees her. Not the ex-con, not the mistakes, not someone he needs to fix. Just Paige. Their relationship had this tenderness to it that I loved, especially because both of them are carrying their own hurt. Watching that guardedness slowly come down and seeing them become a safe place for one another was easily my favorite part.

I also loved the second chance theme being about so much more than romance. It’s about rebuilding after your life takes a turn you never expected, forgiving yourself, and realizing that your past can shape you without being the only thing that defines you.

There were a few moments where I wanted a little more development or time to sit with certain emotional beats, which kept it just shy of five stars for me, but I was completely invested in these two.

Tender, emotional, hopeful, and full of two wounded people realizing they might still be worthy of something good. 4.5 stars.

Well she did it again!!!!! Condemned by Jennifer Harrison was such a beautiful story about healing and second chances.

Paige spent two years in prison after trying to save a horse from being harmed. When she gets out early for good behavior, she goes looking for the horse—and ends up finding so much more along the way. She makes new friends, finds people who accept her, and meets Xander.

Xander has been broken and unhappy since suffering a terrible loss. But when Paige walks into his bar, his life begins to change for the better. They are both carrying so much hurt from their pasts, but they turn out to be exactly what each other needs. They help one another heal, grow, and realize they both deserve another chance at happiness.

But there is always something that wants to get in the way of happiness and good.

I really loved watching Paige and Xander slowly let their walls down. Their story shows that your past doesn’t have to define you and that sometimes the right person can help you find your way back to yourself. It also teaches people you can’t always trust just because someone says so. This was a sweet and emotional small-town romance with found family, a protective hero, and two broken people who heal together.

Thank you, Jennifer Harrison, for allowing me to read this ARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ ARC REVIEW — Condemned by Jennifer Harrison

I absolutely loved Xander and Paige’s story.

This was such a beautiful story about second chances, starting over, healing, and finding your way forward. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop, and I was completely invested in both of them.

What really stood out to me was that this book actually managed to surprise me. There were a couple of turns I genuinely did not see coming, and it has been a while since a book caught me off guard like that. I loved that feeling of thinking I knew where the story was headed and then realizing I absolutely did not. 😂

And the ending? Exactly what I was hoping for. ❤️

I also loved the supporting characters so much that now I want to go back and read the first two books in the series so I can get their full stories too.

Overall, this was an amazing read and one I’m really glad I picked up.

4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

The connection between Paige and Xander completely melted my heart.

Paige is sweet, funny, and strong, with a rare patience that works magic on scared horses and guarded men. She gives so much of herself to others, especially animals. I also loved that she never tries to change Xander. She simply accepts him as he is, and that's exactly what gives him such a sense of peace around her.

Xander is a stubborn, grumpy fighter who fights to quiet his thoughts, but he's also a kind and caring man who is incredibly selfless and loves fixing things and giving them a second chance. Plus, he plays the guitar and sings, which only made me like him even more.

Their sweet banter and gentle slow burn completely got me. They're both so careful with each other, and nothing feels rushed. We actually get to see them fall for each other page by page, and I loved watching their relationship grow.

And then there's the house. He doesn't know if Paige will come back, but he makes sure there's everything needed for a horse, too. If she does come back, he wants her to know she won't have to leave any part of herself behind.

I also really loved the found family in this book, and Margaret in particular. She gives Paige a real second chance and pushes her forward.

Jennifer Harrison absolutely got me with this one!! I DEVOURED Paige and Xander’s story and my heart was hurting for both of them.

Paige 😭 This woman has been judged and condemned by everyone for the worst mistake of her life, and watching her try to rebuild herself while believing she doesn’t deserve anything good absolutely broke me. I loved how strong she was even when she couldn’t see that strength herself.

AND XANDER 🥹🖤 Quiet, guarded, wounded Xander who looks at Paige and actually SEES HER. Not her record. Not her past. Not what everyone else thinks of her. HER. The way he slowly lets her in while carrying so much pain of his own had me completely gone.

These two together were EVERYTHING. Two broken people who have basically sentenced themselves for their pasts, slowly realising that maybe they’re allowed to want more, to heal, to be loved and to have that second chance 😭😭

The emotion, the hurt, the chemistry, the healing, the small-town feels… I ate every freaking second of it up. I just wanted to wrap Paige and Xander in bubble wrap and protect them from the entire world 😂

Emotional, beautiful, heartbreaking and full of second chances. I could NOT put Condemned down!! 🖤😭📚

✨️ARC Review ✨️

🌶 Rating: 2.25/5

Release date: Septemeber 22, 2026

I finally got to know Xander. And oh my lord was his story the saddest I've ever read. No wonder he keeps to himself so much. His ex, although i understand her decision, should have never done them alone. She should've talked to Xander and told Xander what she was doing. Ive never disliked a character so much before. Im glad he could finally find his people, people he can trust and build a life with.

And Paige is so kind and beautiful. Her heart is so strong and resilient. She should've never gotten the sentence she did. What she did was right and I wish people back then would've seen it. But she came back, and so did Daphne 🥹. Falcon Pointe was definitely a beacon for Pauge. A new beginning. I feel like her dad definitely pushed her to be there somehow.

Paige and Xander came unexpectedly, but at the right time. They fit so well, and understood each other. Their relationship was one of peace and quiet. I loved reading their story together. The little banter they would get, and listening to each other about the real stuff. It was so rewarding to be able to see how they blossomed with each other🥹

I'm now more curious about Steven, and even more about Robbie. I hope to read about their stories next👀👀

Country-ish romance, little bit of suspense, character growth was amazing! DEFINITELY READ TRIGGER WARNINGS. If the triggers get to you on a major scale, starting the book will be rough because the trauma basically hits immediately.

TLDR - if you like redemptive romance and horses, you'll most likely love this.

I am not typically one for contemporary romance but I've been working on getting out of my comfort zone... and I am a horse girl. This is one of those "the bad guys aren't actually the bad guys" type of stories.

There is a bunch of self-doubt, trying to not fall in love (that obviously works - not) and character growth that was just *chef's kiss*. She is a felon, he is an underground fighter and they both have their issues. However, they are the perfect match and work very well to help the other heal. In spite of the damage to both of their hearts, they are surprisingly gentle with emotions...mostly.

I don't really think this counts as a fast and furious type of romance, though the plot is a little fast paced at the get go, the romance feels more slow burn. Did I mention that I adore the character growth? And horses! Oh the horses. I love that the author gave some insight into how much horses can express.

Let me start by saying this is an auto read/auto buy author for me, her books always transport me into the world she creates, the characters feel approachable and the emotions are always strong!

This book was gorgeous, absolutely devastatingly tragic but gorgeous. Our FMC does one illegal (although morally right) thing and that changed the entire course of her life.
Our MMC had one decision taken from him and that changed his.

Would you risk the consequences of an illegal action to save an animal?

This is a story that you catch yourself smiling as you read, yes you will also need tissues to hand but honestly the banter between these characters is second to none!

Please go and read this one i genuinely, whole heartedly need more people to talk about it with-it deserves all the ❤️ and i know you will thank me for the recommendation.

This book was amazing! The beginning was heartbreaking and it made me cry. Xander (MMC) was just trying to do everything right but of course it was never enough. Paige (FMC) did something right but it was still technically wrong and she paid the price. This book was all about second chances and finding love when you least expect it. The story was written beautifully and all the characters were amazing (well except for a few but when you read the book you will know who I speak of lol). I cannot wait to read Whitney's story in the next book.

The two MCs together were 🤌🏼 chefs kiss ✨
A slow burn, second chances (at life and love), healing together and individually, with a little spice that adds to the story but doesn’t completely distract from the plot.

Being able to see them both heal, slowly fall in love in a natural/non-forced way, and dream of a better future together, all the feelings in this one! The ending is everything you could ask for ❤️

Condemned is a beautiful story of second chances, secrets, healing, and love. The story seamlessly moves between the past and present as we uncover Paige and Xander’s journey. Their love story was hard-fought, but ultimately so worth it—and their connection definitely made me a believer.

I loved how horses played such an important role in their healing, helping the characters work through their pasts and find their way toward a brighter future. A heartfelt romance filled with emotion, hope, and love. ❤️

I adore Jennifer Harrison so much, she is such a great writer and I will read everything she releases. This story was very wholesome and heartbreaking at times. Paige and Xander were amazing characters and I adored their journey. Paige is trying to start fresh after being behind bars (which she did the right thing and completely changed her life). When she meets Xander when she is at her new job they instantly click and the helped heal each other. I devoured this book so quickly and loved every minute of it.

Thank you for letting me read this firstly. Secondly, I quite enjoyed it.

It is a great story without many cliffhangers or OMG moments. Making it an easy read that is a good romance, and one that you can curl up and watch it unfold. Both characters have to uncover parts of themselves they would otherwise maybe not want to.
It is a true-to-life kind of story where, for love to bloom, you have to accept the past first.

My heart ached for what both Paige and Xander had to go through. While Paige felt like her dreams were shattered, Xander also had his dream torn to pieces.

I loved how they both comforted each other and soon became each other’s safe place. It was amazing to see them starting to dream again, and having a vision of the future.

Thank you to the author for the advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

Rating: ★★★★

3 Sentence Summary:

Paige made a choice, whilst Xander had his choice taken from him. Both of their lives were irreversibly changed. When their paths cross, they discover the future may not be as bleak as it seems.

Overall Thoughts:

This is a lovely small-town story about second chances, emotional healing and found family. The MCs both have their own clear identities, motives and emotional baggage, and whilst I was more invested in Paige, I could see how Xander's story would hit the spot for the right reader. The writing was easy to follow, and I enjoyed the authors style. I'd happily pick up another of her books.

Whilst I felt the book was maybe a little longer than it needed to be, the overall pacing was good, and the plot was wholesome and heartwarming.

Overall, I really enjoyed Condemned. The romance felt natural and well paced, the HEA was realistic, and whilst nothing in the plot surprised me, it was well thought out, well written, and ticked all the boxes that I wanted to see.

Favourite Quotes:

"Horses were easier than people. They didn't care about your mistakes, they only cared about who you were when you showed up."

"Keep it."
She paused. "You sure?"
