Sometimes the best-laid plans are the ones you never see coming.
If there is one thing Annie Dillinger has believed to be true, it’s that you can always go back home. But when an unexpected betrayal uproots her life, returning to her sleepy coastal hometown of Wellington Point, Connecticut, proves anything but peaceful. Ready to pick up the pieces and figure out what comes next, Annie hopes for quiet time to heal her wounds. Instead, she’s catapulted back into a town built upon perception, perfection, and unachievable societal standards upheld by the people who claim to love her the most—a place where she must decide if she’s ready to take a new path or stay stuck in a life that no longer fits.
If hyper-independence had a name, it would be Max Martin. Having long believed she can trust only herself, Max must balance the secret she’s been keeping with her desire to build a life entirely on her own terms. But when she meets a cute blonde—she has a type—Max finds the walls meant to keep other people out beginning to crumble. Unable to fight the magnetic pull drawing her to Annie, Max must face her toughest challenge yet: Learning that sometimes chasing a dream means not having to carry it alone.
Rich emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and found family are at the core of WASP—a touching sapphic romance about intentionality, taking leaps of faith, and facing the ultimate risk: lowering defenses to let love in.
Cass Morgan is a contemporary sapphic romance author. Her stories embrace the quiet moments of connection, the messy in-betweens, and the kind of love that feels so magical it leaves you forever changed. She’s especially drawn to the emotional nuances that make us human—the doubts, the hopes, and the courage it takes to be truly seen.
When she’s not writing, you can usually find Cass creating in some way, curled up on the couch playing cozy video games or creating elaborate systems in brightly colored Post-it notes around the house. Cass lives in the Chicago area with her wife Alexa.
Morgan has the ability to hook me from chapter one. Annie is unapologetic, a force of nature who says what she thinks, does what she means, and I love her. Max is easy to love too : with her tendancy for procrastination, her never feeling at home anywhere and searching herself, she felt relatable. It’s impossible not to root for these two. The relationship is truly healthy and they take time to be in a good place before even looking for more. I have to applaude Morgan for not using the usual drama tricks that an ex coming back into your life can bring. These people just try to figure things out in there life, go after they want, sometimes smoothly, sometimes not; and that was enough to keep me hook. I admit I was expecting a bit more drama after what I got used to with the soulmates series (my heart is still in recovery). It’s almost like Morgan needed a break herself and wrote a healthy and incredibly sweet relationship🤞. This new series looks solid and with the sneak peek, I really look forward to read book 2
This is the first book I read written by Cass Morgan and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely be checking out her other books asap!!!
I enjoyed this book from the first line, till the very last one. This is a perfect book for anyone who wants a small town romance novel with deeply developed characters. The power and beauty in standing up for yourself and figuring out what you want and what's best for you.
My favourite part of this book is the way Annie and Max communicate throughout the whole story. They are both such mature and developed characters which made every conversation they had so beautiful and really meaningful.
Something I also loved is the friendship between Lynn and Max. There's just something so sweet and beautiful about how they are not very close in age but they still found each other. And to be honest I think I see myself in Max and her relationship with Lynn, which is very special and meaningful to me.
Massive thank you to author Cass Morgan for sending me an ARC of this book!! I cannot wait for the second book in the series and getting to see more of every character.
CASS (insert middle name) MORGAN!! How do you continue to write such masterpieces? I literally have zero notes. I adored both Annie and Max. Every single character that Cass creates has so much depth and thought behind them. Even the side characters.
I needed both Max and Annie’s stories. They both are struggling with where they are at in life and what the next steps are. As a 31 year old, I feel this. I feel content with my life but I don’t know where I’m going or what my next step is. You figure that you would have things figured out by a certain age and when you don’t, it can lead you to feeling lost or behind. On a lighter note, a lot of the things both MCs said were things I could see myself saying and it made me laugh out loud.
Overall, like I said, another masterpiece by Cass Morgan. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors!
Cass Morgan really hooks you right from the start with this one!! At least that’s what my experience while reading this great novel has been. To start off, I really adored both Annie and Max, and how their relationship developed over time. I loved experiencing their personal ups and downs and generally also exploring their love story hehe. Moreover,I wanna say that I TOTALLY related to Annie and adored how Cass Morgan wrote the side characters (I’m looking right at Colleen for this one) to give an even deeper sense of the character. Especially as someone who also has a plan of her life as well and then imagining it all blowing up right in one’s face hit really hard for me. But to add to that then, I loved seeing the character development for both Annie and Max over the course of the book. As I said before, Annie’s development from the start till the end, really had me hooked A LOT. Besides that, Max was such a great character as well. She was hilarious so often and I swear I laughed way too many times. I loved how independent she was and what a huge heart she had despite everything. Overall, this was such a great experience and I adored reading it!!! I would totally recommend, especially if you’re in the mood for a character driven book that will easily hook you.
This is the first book I’ve read by Cass Morgan and I was hooked from the start.
Max was a hardworker, she was brave and she knew what she wanted out of life, even if she suppressed it and questioned it, which led to the procrastination. I was so impressed by Annie’s strength, to leave a relationship of years when you thought you’d spend the rest of your life with that person takes incredible courage. I immediately loved her because she’s an accountant and a numbers nerd like me and we’re barely represented in romance, more so in sapphic romance. Their relationship didn’t feel like a slow burn but it also didn’t feel like they were jumping right into, the pace at which it developed felt true and relatable. Their communication was a marriage counselor’s wet dream.
The found family that Max had built in her friend group and that they welcomed Annie without a problem made me feel all warm inside, especially because Annie could be herself with them, not become someone else like she felt she had to with her mom. I hated Annie’s mom for a long time in the story but when I read: “It’s the female wasps you gotta watch out for, especially when their nest is in danger.”, I feel like I understood that she acted that way because she felt like her place in society and her family was constantly threatened and that hate became more of a strong dislike. A little therapy and I’m sure she can figure it out.
I’m so looking forward to the jealous tension in book 2 and going back to read everything on the past series.
Thank you to Cass Morgan for providing me with an eARC.

This first book that is part of the new Cycle Breaker series is not at all as messy and unpredictable as the Soulmate series. Instead, this is more a sweet small-town romance with a fantastic friend group and following how Annie and Max grow together. This was a great read and look forward to read more about the characters we met in this first book and then especially Lynn, the whole jealousy and potential enemies to lovers the author leaves us with sounds intriguing to me.
The first chapter is such a great start of a book, Annie thinking she has it all figured out, having a cushy accounting job, the hot girlfriend Caroline and she will finally after seven years together move in with Caroline the very next day. However, when Annie wants to surprise Caroline, she finds her in bed with another woman. Annie bolts, reroutes all her stuff away from Washington, D.C. to her very conservative parents in her hometown Hartford, CT.
In Hartford we have Max and she is just so adorable. Her friendship with widowed Lynn that is twice her age is just perfect, and I wish I had a friend like Max in my life. Max works so hard, is the best friend there is to everyone, and you just want her to get it all together finally. Her struggle with her career and the land she inherited from her grandparents so present in her life that she does not even allow any real romantic relationship in her life.
Annie and Max meet and they connect from the very beginning despite having such vastly different life experiences. Annie dreams of getting married and settle down and Max hasn’t even really figured out her career yet. Annie is very close to her big family, whereas Max is very distant with her father after her mother passed, her friend group is her family. They realize that they really like each other from the beginning, but they need to wait for Annie to heal fully after the awful Caroline and Max to figure out her path in life before even considering more than friendship.
To follow their story is giving me such a wonderful feeling so this is a book I really can recommend.
I received a free ARC from the author and leave an honest review voluntarily.
Ok, I know I'm a little late in finding this author. It was refreshing to see a slower burn contemporary romance with no 3rd act breakup.
This meet cute between Max and Annie was very believable. The book starts with Annie walking in on her fiance Caroline cheating on her on their bed. This heinous act is the impetus for her to return to her hometown and reevaluate things. Max is working multiple jobs trying to make ends meet. She's a got a few plans and is helped by her small group of friends. Annie and Max are opposites in many things, like one is organized and the other not, etc. What is seamless, is after their initial meeting the friendship that develops. I really enjoyed their slow development from friend to more. You have time to see their separate styles get slowly woven together in a complimentary fashion. I laughed a few times at the banter and ribbing between all of the characters. I have a few favorite quotes saved that me chuckle.
“You named your car?” “Yes. Is yours rawdogging life without a name?’ “It’s a car, Max.” “And?”
I will be immediately rounding up this author's back catalog to read.
“It kind of sounds to me like you’re having your junk drawer moment.”
Tropes and triggers: cheating (not main fmcs), banter, fish out of water, meet cute, no third act breakup, open door spice, opposites attract, slow burn, and toys.
thank you cass morgan for the chance to read this early! this is the first book i’ve read by cass, and i was not disappointed! the characters both felt so real, and i really related to their career uncertainties. i absolutely loved annie’s character, she was so strong headed and spoke her mind and didn’t let anyone tell her what she could and couldn’t do. max resonated with me a lot with her procrastination issues, and avoiding it or getting rid of the problem because it’s too overwhelming to deal with. i also do this, so it was nice seeing a character do that as well. i loved the progression of their relationship! they had such perfect chemistry from the very beginning, and the banter between them the whole story had me cracking up! i loved how they seemlessly slotted into each others lives and how they discussed things with each other so easily and helped each other with their journeys also loved the side characters! lynn of course was the star of the show, but the other friends were all great, and the complexity of annie’s family was interesting to read. shout out to jack and drew those cuties. and that sneak peak👀👀👀 CANNOT WAIT
The story kicks off with quite a visceral betrayal, and the narrative then follows the dual perspectives of Annie, as she returns to her coastal hometown of Wellington Point, and Max, who lives in the town and is fiercely independent. They meet through a literal clash of heads, and from there, the banter, flirting and chemistry begin! 💖
The book explores conditional love, family dynamics and the claustrophobic feeling of growing up in a small, conservative town (hence the book’s title and what WASP stands for). But it’s also about needing family while learning, as you get older, to recognise your boundaries with people — how they treat you, what you accept and what you won’t tolerate anymore.
There’s so much emotional depth here, with the romance building alongside the family narratives. The family dynamics felt relatable, and I really empathised with Annie’s relationships with her family and friends, which made me invested in this small-town story.
What I loved most of all was following two characters who genuinely become best friends. They have the chats, the support, the chemistry, and they also fancy each other *intensely*. The plot jumps through time a few times, but when they allow themselves to explore that sexual chemistry… it's 🔥🔥!
I’m so glad Annie and Max found each other. Everyone deserves that kind of love — someone who enjoys you, supports you and celebrates you for exactly who you are. It’s also a lovely reminder to leave your exes in the past!
Overall, this is such a gorgeous story about meeting the right person at the right time — and she just might help make your dreams come true ✨️💖
I’m a huge fan of Cass Morgan’s books. I devoured The Soulmate series and fell in love with every one of the characters. WASP was no different.
It’s impossible to not fall in love with this book. The characters are great, they’re written with such depth and a high level of vulnerability that it gives them an almost real life of their own.
I love the way Annie deals with the generational trauma she faces at the hands of her overbearing “perfect” mother. How she approaches it with a level of meekness in the beginning and yet by the end she possesses this quiet strength that was an absolute delight to read.
And Max, Max could be any of us. The need to hide from things we find overwhelming, until the problem becomes too much and needs to be dealt with. The fact she refuses for the most part to ask for help and has this hyper independence. Yet Annie changes all of that and helps her realise her own strengths and that her dreams and goals also matter. Honestly, * chefs kiss *
The only thing I wish Annie would’ve done, was punch her ex Caroline, the wine wasn’t enough 😂
If you’re looking for a small town romance, with low angst, relatable characters and no third act break up in sight, then add WASP to your TBR. You won’t be disappointed.
WASP by Cass Morgan is about two women with messy lives in a small town, where wealth and image are of utmost importance. Annie was born into wealth in Wellington Point, and she her return there is unplanned. The other main character is Max (Maxine), who was not born in Wellington Point and experiences the societal wealth via her jobs in the service industry. Think country club to the "max". (Pun intended.)
I really enjoyed how Annie and Max were developed as characters. Every action seemed to align with specific character traits, which made it all believable. I am glad that their relationship started as friends; it was a slow burn that did not make me shake my head in frustration but had me excited when small steps toward their romance were taken.
I also loved the side characters and the found family. Annie's family is big, and while it took a little time to get all of them sorted out in my head, their personalities and roles in this book were easy to keep track of.
Thank you to the author for the chance to read a copy of this book ahead of its release.
Cass Morgan ATE and left NO CRUMBS 😍 I am now obsessed with both worlds from this author’s brain, and honestly, would blindly jump into another if you tell me they wrote it. The writing, the dialogue, the story, the spice, is all 10/10. If sapphic romance is your thing, you will devour this book. As a decent human, I hope Cass Morgan has a healthy work life balance. As a reader, I want Cass Morgan to do nothing but write because I need these books NOW. 🙃
Thank you to Cass Morgan and team for an ARC of this book.
Thank you to Cass Morgan for an eARC of Wasp - all opinions are honest and my own.
This was just the Sapphic romance I needed after coming out of a slump. I loved how fiercely determined and independent our two FMC's were, with the cutest found family friendship group (or in Annie and Andrew's case, actual family), and I cannot wait for Lynn's story next. All of the characters felt fully developed and fleshed out, while at the same time still leaving room for new details to emerge in their own stories. Will we get a Drew and Jack book??
Colleen gave me major Emily Gilmore vibes, and at times so did the Dillinger family as a whole - small town, family name means something, mother not always approving of her daughter's choices. Also - fuck Caroline. That was a major dick move on her part and she deserved the red wine incident.
One thing I really loved was the visual detail woven throughout the writing, it almost felt visceral at points and you could see the vineyards in your mind. It's something I always look for in a book.
Tropes: - Small Town Romance - FMC's in their late 20's/early 30's - Following Your Dreams - No Third-Act Breakup! - Found Family

✨ Huge thank you to Cass Morgan for this ARC! All thoughts are my own. Preorder WASP now and get ready to read when it releases on 9/25! ✨
I have loved every single Cass Morgan book leading up to this one, so I was anxiously awaiting this first dip into a brand new series. I was definitely nervous going in, but WASP held up to all of the expectations Cass has built (and then some)!
One of my favorite things about this author is the level of characterization and world building that we get as a baseline. WASP is no exception to that. Within a few chapters, I’d met both Max and Annie, and they each felt like real people rather than characters on a page. The book opens up with a bang, and I could imagine exactly what Annie felt in that moment, as well as how it may have felt to have her recount that very story to me a few days later over a cup of tea (not coffee…for reasons…).
Every character is beautifully developed, from Annie and Max as our leads, to the rest of the friend group, to Annie’s family, and especially to Lynn, who very quickly became my favorite supporting character (no spoilers, but I have my fingers crossed that we’ll see more of her soon). Every single person we’re introduced to has a purpose, and I already know I’ll be working through my thoughts on all of them for the foreseeable future. The parallels between Annie and her siblings (and their entire family dynamic) could fuel a dissertation, but I’ll let you find out for yourself.
The Cycle Breaker Series has a different feel than Cass Morgan’s earlier Soulmate Series, and WASP does a phenomenal job introducing readers to this new world and to the town of Wellington Point. Major small town romance vibes, complete with their very special brand of drama. I loved the friend group and the quiet emphasis on found family. WASP didn’t feel as dramatic or messy as the Soulmate Series, but it absolutely kept the deep questions buzzing around in my head while I was supposed to be focused on work this week.
This book (and maybe the series as a whole???) centers on the pivot points we hit in life. Both Max and Annie are at pivot points of their own, and I loved watching them navigate those individually and together. No matter where you are in your own life, you’ll find something in this book to relate to.
TLDR: Another fantastic book from Cass Morgan, and a phenomenal start to the Cycle Breaker Series! Full of the characterization and world building we’ve come to love, wrapped in small town charm and found family.
✨ Thank you again to Cass Morgan for this ARC! All thoughts are my own. Preorder WASP now and get ready to read when it releases on 9/25! ✨
When I got the email to be part of the ARC team for WASP, the excitement was so real! The second author Cass Morgan posted the blurb for this novel. I knew it was going to be an amazing read, so getting the chase to dive into the pages ahead of release day (September 25th by the way, mark your calendars)? Sheesh, I was beyond excited! So without further ado, let’s dive into my thoughts - buckle up folks! WASP really starts out on a bang and trust me, you will all know what I’m talking about the second you dive into chapter one! We meet the first of two main characters in that chapter, Annie Dillinger. Let me just say, she’s actually incredible. She’s strong in her convictions, knows what she values and deserves, and has long been a force of nature in who she is in this WASP world. Quickly after Annie makes her entrance, we meet the second main character, Max Martin. She’s quirky in the cutest ways, goal oriented, incredibly patient, understanding and wired to be fiercely independent. As you learn her story and as Annie begins to tangle herself within Max’s world, and vice versa, we begin to question if Max’s wiring can change in ways that allow someone like Annie into her world in more than a casual way? If I were to find an overarching theme within these pages, for me, it was much about wedding through the chaos of everyday life to find what’s truly meant for you. Daily life is filled with hiccups, conversations, mistakes, laughs and everything in between. When daily life gets loud, it can be hard to find direction, a way forward. Both Annie and Max go through their own versions of this journey throughout WASP and I think that’s what makes the final chapters so lovely. In brilliant fashion, Cass Morgan builds those chaotic life layers atop Annie & Max through the supporting characters. From toxic ex-girlfriends to generational parental slog to a found family that pulls them through the other side. It’s really beautiful to see how woven the characters are within each other’s lives and how integral they are to helping one another reach their dreams. I could yap on this book for several more paragraphs, but alas, I cannot spoil the WASP world for you all! All I will do is commend Cass Morgan on yet another incredible novel and tell you all to please mark you calendars because WASP gets released into the wild on September 25th!
This was my first work of Cass Morgan's that I 've read and my first book for Sapphic September! I have to say I was hooked on this story. It has several of my favorite tropes, including a small-town romance, found family, and close-proximity (and constantly running into each other).
The chemistry between Annie and Max is unbelievably beautiful. Reading their story, it truly felt like love at first sight. We get to see them help one another through personal struggles - including a messy breakup, family drama, and navigating what the future has in store for them.
For the first time in my sapphic reading journey, I got to read a love story that had no third-act breakup. This was refreshing and had me falling in love with the book and characters more.
Max is loyal, attractive, and independent - however never really voices what it is she wants and needs. I love how Lynn described her as leaving "breadcrumbs" here and there, leaving little signs of what she wants. I resonated a lot with Max's character. She always provided a calm, safe environment for Annie - always checking in on her to see if she's okay.
Annie on the other hand has a strong personality. She is loud and outspoken, not afraid to speak her mind; very confident. Together, they both compliment one another beautifully.
In terms of spice level - we get the elements of pining over one another, especially when in close proximity. I loved these moments. We also get several intimate scenes, which were both beautifully written and so hot.
I also truly enjoy when a book has intriguing side-characters. Lynn is absolutely amazing (and I can't wait to read more about her in book 2!). Drew and Jack are also so loveable. I really enjoyed the scenes with all of these characters together.
I finished this book so quickly because of how much I loved it! Cass Morgan is a wonderful writer and storyteller. I could not have been more elated to have this be the first book of hers I read, and I cannot wait for the second installment of the Breakers series!

I’m so excited to be able to review my second Cass Morgan ARC!!
I really looked forward to reading about Max and Annie’s story, and boy, did I enjoy every second of it. The Cycle Breaker series is so different from the Soulmate series, but nevertheless, Cass Morgan has outdone herself once again!
Max is trying to figure out what to do with the secret she has been keeping from her friends when she meets Annie, who just experienced heartbreak and is trying to move on in the town she grew up in.
Max is hilarious. Cass Morgan has a knack for adding peak comedy to her books, and I will never not appreciated it. Max is hardworking,VERY independent, and a big dreamer with a heart of gold, despite trying to keep her most private self distanced from everyone to avoid getting hurt.
I’ve never had such a strong connection to a character before meeting Annie. I naturally gravitated towards her — her intensity, her impulsivity, her interests…I related to her so much throughout the book, and there were so many moments where I saw myself in her.
Colleen is a separate character altogether, she deserves her own review because wtf??!! Her presence is needed to better understand Annie and her relationship with her mother, but man did she make me feel like shit and I was only reading through the scenes. Colleen feels disconnected from her daughter, while the latter is just wants to feel a mother’s love. Unfortunately, their differences make that impossible, but Colleen is such an important figure in the story, helping Annie finally figure out the direction in which she wants to move following her temporary stay in Wellington Point.
Cass Morgan always manages to write great romance, she’s spoiled me for life. Her introspective quotes are one of the best parts of her books, I always end up highlighting so many. Thanks to her, I’m about to dump out my personal “junk drawer” IYKYK. Her characters always have deep connections and show what a truly healthy relationship should look like: the honesty, the quiet moments of connection and all the little domestic ones that make a relationship feel real.
HUGE thank you to the author for the ARC! Annie thinks she has it all. The relationship, the job. Her life is panning out exactly as she expected. Until she walks in on her partner sleeping with another woman. She ends the relationship and goes back to her hometown where she meets Max, an aspiring sommelier. There’s an undeniable chemistry between them, but Annie needs time to heal. They remain friends, Annie goes on a journey, and Max comes to terms with what it means to build a home. Will they be able to act on their desires?
I unabashedly loved this book. Annie and Max are both really cool characters and both have interesting character arcs. The fact that they purposely don’t start dating right away gives them both space to go on their respective journeys and allows their relationship to deepen. The chemistry makes sense and is there the entire time. The author isn’t afraid of giving either character desire or letting them act on it. The spicy scenes are well-written, raunchy, and feel reflective of lesbian sex (which seems to be difficult to find for some reason). The supporting characters have colour and are interesting in their own right. We see Annie and Max’s friendships and relationships with others at many points. It truly checks all of my boxes!
This is a self-published novel that’s coming out 25 September 2026. The fact that it’s self-published means that it’s allowed to be raunchy in the way that I like. However, I think there are a few places where a more formal editing process may have helped the development of the timeline and some of the writing. The writing style was a bit clunky for me and there were a few places where the timeline didn’t feel like it lined up, which did take me out of the narrative a bit. I will happily forgive the writing and minor plot inconsistencies though, because the story was so good and I’ve been truly screaming for something like this. 4⭐️
As soon as I saw the ARC applications post for this, I was ON IT! It didn’t matter that it was gone midnight. I wanted to get my hands on this book!!
Cass Morgan is one of my “If they write it, I’mma read it” authors, and this series will be no different. So, firstly, thank you Cass for including me in your ARC team again, it’s a privilege and an honour to have your trust!
I binged this one HARD. I read it pretty much in one sitting, interrupted only by having to adult (how rude), so I indulged in a re-read while I was at it.
I absolutely ADORE Max and Annie as a couple. Their humour, chemistry, banter, and honesty (even if they don’t think they’re ready for it!) are everything.
But individually they are such great characters. Max is independent, sarcastic, introverted and her indecision over her future felt so real on the page. And Annie?! What a powerhouse. Confident, fierce when she needs to be, but she has SUCH a big heart, even though hers was broken.
The side characters are also written so well, I loved Max’s friend group!
Especially Lynn, her bluntness, how she interacts with everyone, and how much she clearly cares for Max is heart-warming, especially for a character like Max, who is so fiercely independent. It was nice to see her quietly love and let herself need Lynn in that way.
Annie’s brother Drew also stole my heart a little bit, family secrets and expectations have a way of overshadowing the very best things about people, but the only way to live happily, is to live and love authentically. Which isn’t always easy.
The way Annie and Max’s lives/friends intertwine is so fun to read, but with the great- comes the awful! There are characters in this book that I wanted to slap! With a chair. Repeatedly.
I won’t say who... you’ll find out when you read it, but oof... I may have sent some unhinged comments in the “What the actual fuck?!” category. But fear not!! Annie didn’t take any shit... That’s my girl!
I was so excited to read the first book in Cass's series since I have vowed to read absolutely everything she writes. I always know that no matter what, Cass is going to infuse her characters with so much depth of emotion that they become real to her readers!
And WASP didn't let me down! It pulled me in from the first page and didn't let go. I read it in about a day, only putting it down for work. As soon as I met Annie, it was apparent that her life was about to be completely turned upside down. I started to fall in love with her as soon as she wrote a certain note. Not trying to spoil anything, so you're gonna have to wait and see. But you can see that she has the capacity to be a real fiery, decisive woman, at least when pushed into it.
With her future plans no longer possible, Annie moves home to a town that stifled her, to a mother who wants her to fit in and conform to their expectations. In the middle of all this, she meets Max. I absolutely adored Max, she's so fiercely independent and hard working, and she's incredibly kind.
As the two of them get to know each other and realize there's a possibility for more, Max gives Annie the space and time she needs to process her prior relationship. I love their friendship and the banter is fantastic. As their relationship deepens, the care and respect they show each other is beautiful.
The found family that Max has made for herself is fantastic, I have a feeling we might see more of them in future books.
It is so hard to write this without spoilers so I will end by saying that WASP will speak to you on so many levels, especially to all of us in the queer community who have had to break out of the molds our families tried to fit us into. It is about choosing your own path, being your authentic self, and being open to the possibility of love. I highly recommend this and all of Cass’ books.
I was blessed with an ARC of this lovely book! It was so good; as expected from Cass. As a therapist, I always love to see real-life relationships where people are taking time to process and work their way through life’s challenges and we can see their growth throughout the book. There are so many fun little mini moments of joy throughout as well: hobbies, self-care, kindness and care toward others, a bakery named Muffed&Stuffed-how can you go wrong with that type of brillance!?! I am also newly into creating miniatures so I loved that this was included as one of the crafts being done during their weekly crafting day-Max and her roommate(ish) have the cutest age-gap friendship as well. Max and Annie come from very different worlds but they fit together so well and balance each other out beautifully. There is also excellent communication throughout and consent, along with Max immediately stopping things when she can tell that Annie has felt an emotional shift. I love when healthy communication and consent are involved in books, during sexual aspects of the relationship especially. Annie’s mother having two days a year where the town wouldn’t dream of hosting anything other than her personal parties is honestly LIFE GOALS; however, she’s an asshole. I love that Max stands up to her and stands up for how incredible Annie is. *round of applause for that* If you like cute side characters, spicy scenes, emotional growth, snark, healthy communication, and adorable love stories without a third act breakup, this bad boy is for you and should be added to your TBR right now.
Wasp x Cass Morgan Cycle Breaker Series, Book 1 OUT: 9/25/26 4.5⭐️ Rounded up Spice level: 3🔥
I would like to start by saying thank you to the author for trusting me as an early reader, and for always writing the best books! I loved diving into this new world in the Cycle Breaker Series! The chemistry, the banter, the connection — were all absolutely PERFECT!
Max is easily in my top 5 favorite characters of all time! She’s snarky, independent, and introverted in a way that’s just so real. I can relate to her in so many ways (Gemini personality 💁🏻♀️), and loved seeing her thrive when surrounded by the right people.
Annie on the other hand is confident, bold, and the perfect balance to Max’s independence. She feels like the true version of the cycle breaker in this book! (Also I can understand her gay panic when it comes to side-boob!)
Wasp is the perfect example of found family, real connections, and learning to face the hardships and big decisions together! The most powerful forms of standing up for yourself when going up against the standard, can be found while reading Wasp. Absolutely looking forward to book 2, and continuing to read about breaking cycles (especially after finding out who book 2 is about in the sneak peek 😍)!!!
Cass is another author on the list of, “If they write it, I’m reading it!”

WASP was such a fun read full of engaging characters that you root for right away and a storyline that kept my attention from start to finish.
In it we meet the main character Annie and Max. These two characters are so different in so many ways but also have a lot in common. Their backgrounds are different but they are both fiercely independent at the time of meeting them they are both at a fork in their respective roads in life. Change is happening for them both and they are each forced to make decisions they likely never thought they would have to make. The crossroads of theses decisions make such an intriguing backdrop for their relationship and add so much depth to the story.
I loved that despite their basically instant chemistry it is very clear these two have more than just lust, they are fast friends, and they are aware of each other's past traumas and how they may impact their relationship together.
The play on words in the title and details of the cover fit so well with the content of the story and pull the whole thing together in such a pleasing aesthetic way.
I also loved that there was no 3rd act break up. This isn't a dramatic book. There is conflict for sure but its not dramatic and I loved that.
Overall a very enjoyable read and one that quickly made me a fan of author Cass Morgan. I can't wait to see where the Cycle Breakers series goes!
Many thanks to the author Cass Morgan for the ARC!
Cass Morgan is becoming an instant-read author for me. If she writes it, I'm going to read it, and I can say that for only three other authors.
I don't want to give too much away because I'm an ARC reader, but Wasp is a breath of fresh air. I have been in a review slump lately, with nothing really speaking to me, so I took a chance and submitted to be an ARC reader for Cass. That gave me the opportunity to read Wasp early, so thank you for letting me be one of the lucky ones. I read it in a day…
Annie and Max were both amazing from the start. It was amazing to see them grow and build something real together. I loved their ability to talk, communicate, and maintain their relationship without stepping on each other. It was beautiful. Annie's start of the book broke my heart so much that I found myself rooting for her every step of the journey.
The way this book was written from start to finish was beautiful. Instead of getting a two-week span of time, we got over a year. It was the perfect way I want my books written: no crazy third-act breakup, just adults loving each other the right way from start to finish.
I'll review the book with a quote from Annie: “Ten out of ten. no notes”
Let me finish it off by saying this: in chapter one, I was telling Annie, as she walked up those stairs, to put the scissors down….
No spoilers! Because this beauty isn’t out yet and Cass kindly allowed me to ARC read for her, BUT I need everyone to put WASP firmly in their TBR and pre-order right now!
This book was absolutely amazing. Cass Morgan delivers a beautifully written sapphic romance filled with genuine emotion, irresistible chemistry and characters who feel wonderfully human. Annie and Max completely captured my heart, both individually and together. Their connection feels natural, magnetic and full of the vulnerability that makes a romance genuinely rewarding.
What I loved most was the emotional depth woven throughout the story. The book explores what it means to return home, rebuild your life and realise that independence doesn’t have to mean carrying everything alone. The themes of healing, intentionality and learning to let people in are handled with so much care.
Add in the brilliant found family dynamic, the tender moments and chemistry that practically leaps off the page, and I was completely hooked. It made me smile, made me emotional and left me wishing I could experience it for the first time all over again!
A heartfelt, compelling and beautifully layered romance. WASP is something special, and I cannot wait for everyone else to meet Annie and Max. An easy five-star read for me.
Any book Cass Morgan writes is a must read for me, like don't even read the blurb, just add it to the TBR because it's going to worth it! And WASP certainly delivered.
WASP is the first in the Cycle Breakers series, it follows Annie and Max who are both faced with their lives going in different paths than they had planned or others had planned for them.
Cass has such an ability to draw you into her characters from the first page and I was immediately hooked with how she introduced us to Annie.
The care with which Max and Annie nurture their friendship, understanding that what they think they may have is worth waiting for was beautiful.
I love it when characters come to understand their own worth and break free from family expectations or societal pressures and WASP gave this to me and I can see that the rest of the Cycle Breakers series will be the same.
There is a line that was beautiful in the book that really spoke to me - and I'm not going to quote it entirely - but it was about finding someone who makes mundane tasks feel special and I think that is such a lovely way to describe a strong relationship.
Read WASP if you want to root for women who find their voices and strength while finding each other.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a digital advanced reader copy to read, the opinions in this review are my honest thoughts.
