Some werewolves walk the world forever in search of their mates. Gabriel Danes was one of the lucky ones--Joy Sutton appeared in his path one night six years earlier. Unfortunately, she came along too soon, leaving him with a painful choice: succumb to temptation and rob a young girl of her innocence, or suffer through season after season until she'd experienced enough of the world to know what she would have to give up if she decided to accept his bite.
Joy didn't need four years at a university in Miami to teach her anything about the world, but she went anyway because Gabriel Danes wanted a woman, not a girl... and because it was just too painful to watch him live his life around her while she yearned helplessly for what he wouldn't give. Now she's home, and she's done. Just done.
But when Joy tracks Gabriel down to let him know she's moving to Florida for good, his tightly-leashed control snaps--and Joy realizes she did learn something during four years of college.
She learned how to claim her mate.
**This bbw paranormal romance novella is a complete story with a happy ending!**
Emma Storm has wanted to write ever since she realized her mediocre skills with a crayon were going nowhere fast. When she was thirteen, she begged her parents for a typewriter for Christmas and went to town on a crazy-bad historical romance.
Fortunately, she left that messed up historical behind and went looking for her real loves–dirty-hot werewolf heroes.
DESIRED BY THE PACK, Emma’s paranormal romance serial novel, is her first foray into paranormal romance. Join Emma’s newsletter today in order to stay up to date on news about upcoming releases and future plans.
ugh. It was ok but nothing one of a kind or memorable. I just felt no connection to any of the characters or the storyline. It just fell flat throughout and I feel I'm being quite generous rating it 3 stars. Not a series I will continue.
Hot and steamy freebee wherewolf romance. I enjoyed reading this, and might even read the next books in this series.
With respect to the rating, I have to stop at 3 stars, 4 for fun and 2 for character and plot development. The heroine had to make a momentous life choice and to me it felt like she made that choice on a whim, which made me doubt the HEA.
If this was longer it would be a higher rating. It's good but it definitely makes you wish there was more. I will say if this is supposed to be a book with a bigger girl as the protagonist then why doesn't the cover reflect this?!
I was really confused at first. Now that I understand how this is working then it was an ok read. Basically Mating Season is a huge anthology written by various authors. However, each author is writing 3-4 different books on these wolves but they are all different. Once I got that I was able to finish the book. I did feel I was lost a little bit on Gabe and Joy's story. Not a whole lot of details were revealed. Just the gist of it and skipping a lot of plot that I think was needed. Gabe was just a right asshole. Joy seemed came off naive and she kept coming back after he hurt her. I dunno I guess if the guy was pushing me away I'd just cut my losses because clearly he couldnt make up his mind. Wanted her but didnt. He did that to her several times. That just wouldnt fly with most women. Now that she was older and a woman he wanted her? Uh...no just no what pissed me off is she just kept coming back to this guy who treated her like crap and didnt really apologize for it. If some guy couldnt take me as I was then screw him. LOL. I get she was young but they STILL could have had some sort of relationship. That way it gave her time to finish her schooling etc. If he'd explained everything to her to begin with instead of hurting her and playing these childish games with her things would have ended up differently. At least thats what I think. I guess I didnt like how it played out and how he treated her and he didnt even apologize or consider what he was doing to her with these push and pull ideals of his. Gah...just rubbed me wrong I guess. I will read the next one and hopefully its written more clearly.
Gabriel, is a lucky but very frustrated werewolf!!! He found his mate years ago, but she was only a young teenager and he wanted her to explore the world and gain some experience in her life before he claimed her.
Joy is finished with school and has been offered a job in Florida and she is on the cusp of taking it. She has some unfinished business with Gabriel though. He has been possessive but hands off. He won't come near her but she feels that he is everywhere she goes when she comes home!!
After a steamy encounter outside where he nearly takes her in public, Gabriel has to explain to her what he is and what she is to him. But he'd better do it fast cos this girl has had enough of his hot and cold!!
Fabulous read. Gabriels friends are fun and snarky and you can see that when they find their mates, he's going to enjoy dishing out all the teasing they've been giving him over the last 6 years.
Gabe is a great alpha hero but as usual a bit of double standards going on. He wanted Joy to experience the world but wants her to only want him!! I'm sure he hasn't been an angel whilst he's been waiting for her to grow up!! Looking forward to more from this author!!
Temptation: Grey Wolves Rising #1 (The Mating Season, #1) by Emma Storm
Gabriel is a werewolf and he found his mate 6 years ago. She was to young to claim then. She needed to experience life and grow. Now she is back and talking of moving on...without him. Did he wait to long to explain things to her? Has she found someone else? He can't let that happen. It is time to come clean, but will she be able to handle it or will she run?
Joy has wanted Gabriel since she met him, but he has pushed her away so many times. She went away to college, to experience more of life besides their little town and she has matured, just like Gabriel wanted her too. Why is he still pushing her away. If he doesn't want her then she is prepared to move on and across the country. She wants answers and it is time to get them.
As I read more of the Mating Season Collection I find that each author tells a story of love, life and romance. Each story is different and leads you into the next. I enjoyed Temptation very much. There are quite a few grammar errors in the book thus why I gave it only three stars. The story is great but more attention needs to be paid to the editing. I look forward to reading the rest of the Grey Wolves Rising set.
Straight forward tale. Not too much about the background of the characters but there is enough to leave to reader intrigued about secondary characters.
The writing flows well and doesn't seem to be done by an amateur. There is chemistry between the main characters.
However, I'm not such a great fan of predestined loves. What if one dies? What if they never met? Are they suppose to be lonely the rest of their lives? These "destined loves" can be a cop out of working on a relationship because they are work and not just moonlight and magic. I believe that we should be able to make our own fates, otherwise it is just too depressing. In spite of that rant, there are writers and story lines that make the one true destined love work.
This one partially does it. Joy has been exposed to the outside world and decides what she really wants is a future with Gabriel in her small town, or the wilderness if that is were they go. But she is ready to move on, if he doesn't commit. Gabriel's behavior doesn't make sense. When she was too young, yes it made sense to wait. But it doesn't make sense to push her away now. Sure, no sex in the alley but just tell her you need to talk and come to the house. Not even his friends understand him. That is annoying and means I don't enjoy the story as much as I would like to.
3.6 stars. I am happy he waited, being how young she was when he 1st knew she was his and with their age difference too. But when she returned....he was still pushing her away, seemed a little over the top. Their 1st time was a little disappointing for me, considering how long they both waited for each other. Can't wait to read about Rev and Forrest meet their mates🤗
Please note this is my 1st time reading from this Aurthor so hopefully her other books have more steam then this one did.

It’s just ‘blah’. There’s really not much to the story. The novella is just him claiming the mate he’s known for years. While that’s sweet and all, it’s nothing to write home about. It also needs some editing, as we don’t just get typos, we get completely different words and I hate having to guess what the author meant, even if it’s obvious. Disappointing.
Wishy washy hero who can't make up his mind, until his dick tells him what to do. No common interests, or maybe any interests in either character. The whole thing was, "No, we can't be together." But then I see you and we have to make out. But now you've gone for 5 minutes, so we can't be together. I wanted to read about adults, and this was not it.
Gabriel knows that Joy is his true mate but she is so young that he pushes her away. Joy wants Gabriel but is sick of being hurt by him. There's a lot of push and pull but then a HEA.
I really like the story. A bit too short but I still liked it. I’m still left with questions about the guys and Joy’s friend Evan. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
I enjoyed this paranormal romance. Short and steamy with a HEA. Just right for a quick read.
'Temptation' is the first book in the 'Grey Wolves Rising' series by Emma Storm, as well as the first book in the Mating Season Collection, and I was given this copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. Emma is a new author to me and I enjoyed this book.
Gabriel Danes struck lucky when he met his true mate, Joy Sutton, when she ran out of gas in her mother's car the day got her driving licence. But, Joy was still in school and far too young to give up her world, so Gabriel held off and made her go to university and experience some life. Now, six years later, Joy has finished her degree and has come home to collect her things for a permanent move to Miami. Still in love with Gabriel and seeing him in the diner she makes a last ditch effort for the two of them to be together.
This book is short and sweet, with some angst, steamy bits and a HEA for the couple. It took about an hour and half to read and I enjoyed it, but I got really impatient with Gabriel. It would have served him right if he'd lost Joy for good.
DELICIOUSLY CUTE AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!! Wowza! What a fabulous read! The story is exciting, smart, well written, well executed, face-paced, cute, romantic, arousing and sensual. The characters are captivating and sexy as sin! I absolutely loved it! Handsome sexy wolf shifter who is about to lose his true mate unless he shares his secret and acts quickly before she leaves town-check! Beautiful, firecracker college graduate who has had just about enough from the man she has loved for years-check! A dangerous secret, a boyfriend in the wings, a little angst, heated attraction, fiery passion and some very sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more! Temptation is the first book in Emma Storm's new Grey Wolves Rising Series and is also part of the Mating Season Collection by six very talented authors. Each book is a stand alone novella with NO cliffhanger, so enjoy! Deliciously cute and delightfully entertaining!
Wow, just wow! This is the first book in a new series and my reaction was just WOW! The character, Gabriel, in this story is extremely intense, of course it's mating season so that's probably why he's that way. Oh yeah, and the fact that's he's been waiting years to claim her, yep that could do it! But the fact that Emma Storm's writing can make the reader feel his desire, his want, his actual need for his mate, just blows me away. The story's short but her writing Gabriel and Joys story fit in to 5 chapters quite nicely. Great quick read for an afternoon or right before bed when you want to read and know the ending, not wait for another week before you know how it ends. I was lucky enough to be in the right place and time to get this book in return for an honest review. Honestly, book was good enough that I'll be buying them if I can't get them for a review! Yes, Gabriel was that sexy and intense.
I was given an ARC of Temptation from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
I finished reading Temptation, Gabriel's story... this man had it easy, I'm not completely sure why he waitied so long??
Gabriel has known his true mate for 6 years, but she was too young & he wanted her to be the best that she could be. That meant Joy went away to college, away from Gabriel & her family...
I could understand Gabirel's hesitation for not taking Joy as his mate 6 years prior, but I really felt for Joy... Gabriel not accepting the connection between them & making Joy feel like there was nothing there between them...
Temptation is book 1 in Emma's "Grey Wolves Rising" series, which in turn is a part of the "Mating Season" pack series. A set of books from 6 authors, 6 different packs & an individuals story on finding their mate. I can't wait to read more Emma's "Grey Wolves Rising" & to delve into the other authors work in the "Mating Season" series.

This review is from: Temptation: Grey Wolves Rising #1: BBW stand-alone paranormal romance (Kindle Edition)
Loved this story of Gabriel & Joy! Emma writes a story of delayed satisfaction on the mate front for Gabriel. Having identified Joy as his mate when she was a teenager, he puts his wolf on hold to allow her to move away to experience life and risks losing her to the human world. In this stand alone story, the mating moon's influence cannot be denied when Joy returns for a visit and challenges Gabriel's control, and he challenges her patience. I was totally engaged in the plot and steamy chemistry between them as they haltingly claw their way into acceptance of their fated future together. Shifter stories are in abundance and this author is a standout in the genre. You won't be disappointed in this Grey Wolves Rising series.
Grey Wolves Rising is the second werewolf-romance series I'm reading in the "Mating Season" collection. Here, the werewolf mythos is not as completely fleshed out as in the Wolves of Angels Rest series. We don't really know how werewolves are made, if they're feared and hunted, or accepted and part of human society, or secretive and hidden. Instead, the story focuses mainly on the romance plotline between the H and h. Werewolf found his mate, thought she was too young for him, so he rejected her and she ran away to college for four years. Now she's back, the moon is full, and pup-season is around the corner. That was pretty much it.
Not bad, but not stellar either. On to the next book.
