Lana dreams of leaving Crystal Lake, getting away from her toxic mother. But the one thing that keeps her from going is her little sister Abbie. Lana can't leave her to a mother who's an addict, and she can't have the town know. So, keeping her mother's addiction a secret to keep Abbie safe, Lana stays in her abusive home putting her dreams on hold, working at the local diner, and dive bar to provide for her family.
Cole Anderson never thought he would return home to Crystal Lake, when his partner Jasper Young decided to take on a contract in the neighboring town. Making the obvious choice for them both to move back while the job is underway. Nothing is worth noting in Crystal Lake except the spunky waitress at the local diner. Everything about this woman grinds his gears and by the way she mouths off at him, the feeling is mutual. Jasper however adores her, making the relationship between Cole and Jasper complicated...
When Lana finds her mother's addiction has put Abbie and herself in danger, she has no choice but to take her sister and run, right into the mercy of two men she hardly knows. With secrets she's been hiding on the line, can she trust Cole and Jasper to help keep them and her safe?
There are a handful of main characters, but the star is Lana, although she’s occasionally outshined by a little someone. She is artistic and emotional and brings a few somebodies to their knees, ultimate girl boss.
The other characters, well, they’re drool worthy, and complete opposites of one another. You’ll be questioning yourself which one is best, but seriously, why choose?
Spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. You’ll be looking for your partner to try out some new moves 😉.
Such a good book! Emily captures characters and story lines so well. I was with Lana through every emotion. I loved Cole and Jaspers relationship badly, they gave me everything I wanted/needed. Abbie is hilarious and she doesn’t even know it lol. The HEA tied the story into a neat little bow. Mom’s redemption arc healed me as well.

Loved the balance of Cole and Jasper, love that each one offers Lana different things. The why choose was done in a classy way. This is a great debut. Im excited to read more from this author.
