Caroline Frost had it all-until her boyfriend banged the superskank intern, and poof! Caroline's happy little bubble disappeared. Now it's been six weeks of weeping, a mountain of ice cream, and a permanent buttprint on the couch. Enough is enough. She and her ladybits need an intervention-now.
Enter Operation: One Night Stand: Find a man who is hotness personified and have some much-needed sexy time. The only problem is that Caroline is torn between a flirtatious, well-built guy and the ridiculously hot bartender serving her shots. This was supposed to be all fun and no games, but like the perfect scotch on the rocks, no good fling finishes without a twist . . .
I’ve always wanted to write. Ever since I was little, I would craft stories and poems but the idea to actually do it “for real” never really crossed my mind until last year. After sitting on three paragraphs of what would eventually become my first novel, I decided to expand upon what I had. At the time I had no real idea of where the story would go, I just knew I had the time to do something with it.
I hadn’t researched market trends, I had no idea about query letters or the evil synopsis, and I was green on the idea of agents and editors and all that is publishing, really. I just wanted to write something I enjoyed. I didn’t plot, outline, or character build, I just wrote. And then an author friend mentioned that I should take my writing to a conference.
So with the confidence that my novel would surely be welcomed by all who read it, I signed up for as many seminars and critiques as I could. I knew someone would love it. In those two days, I found out I had a lot to learn.
Funny, but as a former English teacher, you’d think I’d have figured out the importance of editing and revision and revising again. You’d think I’d have known that the first draft is just that, a draft. And when the critiques started coming in, I thought I was done for. Not that the premise wasn’t good (I was told it was), not that the characters weren’t believable (I was told they were), but I used too much passive voice, I tense shifted and there were some holes in the plotline.
A few agents really liked it, but the market trend couldn’t support it. Some were not fond of the way I told the story. I queried and queried my way to 57 flat out rejections and a number of partial and full requests that didn’t pan out. But along the way I got some great criticism and pointers and I made the story better. Then, on a whim, I trolled the SavvyAuthors website and signed up for a three line pitch to editor Lauri Wellington and I did a happy dance when she requested my full manuscript.
A month later, she responded that she loved the story and the concept but it moved too slowly but I could resubmit if I revised. I informed her I sent her a revision that was based on the opinions of agents, authors and peers but I had the original (cleaned up, of course) and I was sending it in to see if it was more of what she was looking for. And guess what? It was! One caveat, I had to revise the manuscript into past tense. Easy peasy, right? Wrong.
Revising into past tense from present is line editing your entire novel. And it kinda stinks. By the end, I thought my eyes were gonna start bleeding and pop out onto my keyboard. But you know what? That little “exercise” tightened up what was loose, filled in any plot holes that might’ve still been there and forced me to realize I could be a better writer.
The road to publication can be long. It can be a hop, skip and a jump from your first query. Nothing in publication is set in stone. The market is always changing. And the biggest thing I learned is that it’s all subjective. Agents A-Y may pass but all you need is Agent or Editor Z to believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. And I believe in my first novel. And I am happy that Black Opal Books does too. I hope you do, as well.

Christine Hughes whips up a hilariously sexy entertaining read with an added splash of screaming orgasms, sex up against the wall, and perfect erection in her sizzling concoction, Operation: One Night Stand.
After practically getting drunk on Operation Foreplay, I knew without a doubt that I had to read Operation: One Night Stand stat. And let me just say, Ms. Hughes, once again has me addicted with this fun, sexy and unfiltered series that could be read as a standalone. In my review of Operation Foreplay, I stated that the leading heroine, Melody Ashford has what I called a greedy vagina. Well, in the case of Operation: One Night Stand, Caroline Frost has what I consider a hungry vagina. LOL!!! Well, I don't blame Caroline for having a hungry vagina after finding out your fiancee of five years has been banging the work intern. So, what does any newly single woman do.... well, first you wallow and eat plenty of ice cream to help mend your broken heart and then once the tears and self-pity party is done, you get coerced by your girlfriends to begin operation: one night stand. And lets, just say operation one night stand leads to feeding Caroline's very hungry vagina. HAHA!
After a banging one night stand, Caroline and her lady-bits should be happy...right?!?! Well, the only problem for this little minx is that while she was getting pile-drive to orgasmic bliss, she accidentally called out the wrong name. Instead of yelling Ryan's name in ecstasy, she ended up saying Brian, who happens to be the bartender and the guy that she couldn't stop thinking about. If things couldn't get more awkward, Brian's roommate happens to be Ryan. Luckily, for Caroline her fling with Ryan comes to an understanding when Caroline realizes which guy she wants and needs. After five years of vanilla, Caroline has finally found the person to shake, stir, and have her screaming orgasms. And lets just say, her lady-bits are finally satisfied!!!
Operation: One Night Stand was wickedly fun, sexy and laugh out loud entertaining!!!! I will say it again Ms. Hughes did another amazing job writing a smart, fresh, bold, and raw modern romance that will have you giggling and getting drunk on the crazy adventures of young single women. So if you are a fan of crazy antics, playful banters, hot bartender, banging sex on the wall, and screaming orgasms then Operation:One Night Stand is the book for you.
What is a girl to do when she catches her boyfriend of five years banging away at the office intern? Eat her weight in ice cream and then scrape herself off her besties couch and get her some. The only problem, for a girl like Caroline a one-night stand is something she’s never really considered. But with the right push from her two friends, she gets herself dolled up and heads out on the town to find her target.
Caroline gets herself into quite the pickle when she finds herself torn between two guys. One she’s taking home with her and the other she can’t stop thinking about.
Operation: One Night Stand was such an entertaining read. I laughed so hard when reading this and found myself loving every single scene. It is very rare for female characters to hold my attention but Mel, Sarah and Caroline had me in fits. I loved this trio.
I have to admit that rom-coms are typically not my thing. They’re sweet at times, they usually have a few funny things, but sometimes it can come across as too over the top. With OONS, it was effortless humor. I found the mixture was balanced out perfectly. We have a slight angsty angle to the relationship between Caroline and Brian/Ryan (no love triangle) which allowed the story to deepen.
If you are looking for a fun read that will check off all your romance must haves. Pick this up. I could not put it down and could not hold in the laughter. I can’t wait to pick up the rest of this series!
A studly 4 stars to Operation One Night Stand. The premise is pretty easy to follow: girl gets cheated on, wallows in self pity, needs a good sexual tumble, and eventually finds true happiness. I thought the book was executed well and that Caroline was great. She wasn't a simpering idiot by any means. I liked Brian something fierce.
From the moment Caroline meets Brian there's the under current of attraction. Brian's hot with a witty and dirty mouth, totally understand the attraction. Caroline ends up hooking up with Ryan, Brian's roommate and college friend, much to Brian's dismay. Ryan and Caroline quickly end as Brian and Caroline continue to get to know one another. They work well together, have crazy orgasms together, and just are a fun couple.
I do have a few things to note. The book doesn't end with a clear and wrapped up happy ending where the two make life long plans or anything and there is no wrap up epilogue which is frustrating. Yes, the hero and heroine end up together but I need a more concrete ending! I like things to be wrapped up with a pretty silver bow so that's the only reason this lost a full star, I wasn't 100 percent satisfied. Overall, it was a cute and fun read.

3.5 Sexy Drinks Stars
Caroline Frost has been in a funk, sitting on her best friends couch watching romance movies and drowning herself in ice cream. That is, since she walked in on her fiancé boinking the office intern... in her bed.
Sick of her being an emotional zombie, Caroline's best friends Sarah and Melody challenge her to get up, dust herself off, quit her job (where her fiancé and the intern work), and get back on the horse, by way of a one-night-stand.
But when Caroline jumps back into the sexual pool, does she pick the wrong guy? What about the one that she can't stop thinking about and makes those butterflies go all crazy in her belly? Not ready for a new relationship yet, the old Caroline, makes a return, with a backbone and hilarious snarky wit.
I thought this book was hilarious in a lot of places. The two friend, Sarah and Melody, were fantastic. I loved Brian, Ryan, Drew, Danny and Berk, as well as Siobhan, Brian's sister.
I loved how Caroline's new work environment help make her stronger and helped her find who and what she wanted to be.
The only reason I didn't give it more stars is because the writing was a little slow in places. The author would have great moments and then there would be a lull. But I think with more writing of these characters she will work out some of those kinks.
I see that Melody's is coming up in November, and that works for me.
Review for Operation One Night Stand by Christine Hughes
“… love is a blind whore filled with bat-shit crazy and a shitty sense of humor.”
Operation One Night Stand had me laughing out loud more than once. This is the kind of feel-good book you didn’t even realize you needed until you read it. Christine Hughes knocked it out of the park with this one. Witty banter, panty melting smut, and a sweet unexpected romance.
“Twat waffle attitude. Basically when a woman acts like a douche.”
Sarah and Melody are determined to get there BFF Caroline off the couch and out of her post-breakup slump. The plan? A one night stand, no commitment, no pressure, just a night of hot and heavy sex.
The target, Ryan. With the help of Bartender Brian, Caroline flirts her way into Ryan’s pants and into one night of crazy hot sex. Fate might have other plans for her though. And when she runs into Ryan later her uncomplicated one night stand becomes complicated.
“Chalk it up to an awkward encounter. Look, I love you like a back-alley hooker loves crack, but if you can’t see the funny, you aren’t the Caroline I know.”
Melody, Sarah, and Caroline are the kind of friends that every woman wants. They are snarky and tell each other how it is. Loyalty runs deep with them and if you dare hurt one of the ladies, the other two might cut you. I loved their banter. I laughed so hard I snorted on more than one occasion. (In public I might add.)
“I thought I was gonna have to get you some syrup to go along with that twat waffle attitude.”
The chemistry between Caroline and her man candy is off the charts hot. There were a few moments I wanted to shake her because she knew what she wanted, but didn’t want to admit it. Man up chick and do it!! It added to the angst and drama which of course just made the book that much better, but still.
“It’s like you want to write ‘I miss you’ on a rock and throw it at his face so he knows how much it hurts to miss him.”
Operation One Night Stand is an absolute MUST read. Five hilarious stars for the best laugh out loud book of 2015. Add to that five drenched panties for off the charts hot smut and you’ve got a certified Mommy’s a Book Whore must read!

This book was great! Caroline was amazing (after she got out of self-pity mode) and one hell of a go-getter. When she first walks to the bartender (Brian) and starts the witty drink orders...I cracked up. Seriously. The pair of them were enough to give me side aches.
Brian was cute. He respected the lines that Caroline drew, and her relationship with Ryan. I liked the way his sister was introduced into the story, and brought Brian and Caroline closer together. The ending of this one wasn't exactly an HEA. So be warned.
This wan't too long of a book, but it was a nice break from pure smut books with no plot. This one had a plot that was a typical romance book, but it was still so sweet! The only thing I didn't like about this book is that I felt that the intern was slut-shamed too much. As far as I could tell, she was a bit of a homewrecker, but this was the first time she had done it. Oh well, at least Caroline finally moved on from the whole ordeal.
I hope that this author goes on with some of the characters. I will be keeping an eye on this author for new books!
Where are all my GIRLS at?? Want to read something worth your time that will definitely make you smile and want to fall in love with a sexy, steamy bartender or underwear model??? Ladies, THIS IS A MUST MUST MUST Read by an amazing funny girl and author Christine Hughes. Trust me on this one! EVERY character is easily likable and totally relatable. I INSIST that every girly girl (age appropriate ;) pick up and add this book to their FANTABULOUS SUMMER READING LIST. I wish it were l o n g e r r r r r r r r r .
They say the best way to get over someone is to get under someone.
Caroline Frost is in need of getting over her ex—with more than just her unhealthy relationship with Ben and Jerry. Caroline caught her ex with his pants down, literally, and after six weeks of wallowing in self-pity, Caroline’s friends, Melody and Sarah stage an intervention and hatch a plan to ensure Caroline’s lady bits don’t gather cobwebs.
So begins Operation: One Night Stand—one night to let go, one night to find the hottest man in the bar, take him home, have her way with him and never see him again. Caroline is torn between the flirty hot guy at the end of the bar and the gorgeous bartender. This is supposed to be fun. One. Night. Stand. One. Night. Only. Oh, Karma, you’re such a bitch. Life is never that easy.
Karma keeps Caroline on her toes. And so do Sarah and Melody. Oh my god, I laughed so hard I spit my water on my Kindle at a couple of points. The situations these three find themselves in, the snarky, witty, bitchy banter between them all had me laughing out loud, because we all either recognize or remember parts of ourselves in their discussions. I mean really, who doesn’t remember the dreaded walk of shame home after a long night? I loved their true friendship—that they loved each other enough to set each other straight, even when the truth was going to hurt.
And let’s not forget the boys…Ryan, Brian, Danny and Drew are quite the cast of characters themselves. Their friendship is similar to the girls—another group of friends who accept each other for all their faults and don’t care. They’re there for each other regardless of the situation.
I loved this book because of their friendships, relationships and general “give each other shit and take it” attitudes. I need Operation: Foreplay now…I want to spend more time hanging out with this great group of characters. ~ Missy, 5 stars
A tad cheesy? A tad cliche? Sort of. Same old story. Girl gets dumped. Girl develops relationship with ice cream. Friends encourage girl to go fuck all the pain away...
Caroline is that girl, with those friends and a singular focus: getting a one night stand.
She annoyed me a bit, because she couldn't seem to make up her mind and at times came off as an all you can eat buffet (if you get my drift). Not shaming her at all for getting hers. More power to ya, sister. But when you're letting two friends share you, who know they're sharing you... I just cringe a bit.
I loved Brian though, even though his characters wasn't developed like, at all, I wanted to know more about him. I wanted him to come into the picture sooner. I wanted him to rock her world and I wanted to read about him being cute, but alas, his cuteness was short lived which was very disappointing.
Not a bad read, like I said it's a bit cheesy, but sort of entertaining. I'd probably recommend it to anyone who wants something simple and quick to read.
OONS is a fantastic, funny read! The writing is excellent, the characters are amazing (I so want to be in their circle of friends,) and the story is absolutely hilarious. I loved the strong friendships, the smart and sassy dialog, and, of course, the high steam factor. I highly recommend and am looking forward to more from these characters...and trying some of the cocktail recipes listed at the end.
When Caroline catches her fiancé sleeping with an intern, she goes into a downward spiral of despair. After weeks of sulking and an intervention by her two best friends, she is convinced a one night stand is just what she needs to get her life back on track.
After planning everything all out, Caroline heads out with her friends and finds the perfect target for her one night stand at the third bar they visit. Things are going according to plan until Caroline enlists the sexy bartender Brian in her plan only to end up flirting with him more than Ryan, her target. But Caroline has a plan and sticks to it...taking Ryan home and having a steamy one night stand.
Now, Caroline doesn't know what she wants and everything is all more confusing...especially when she learns that Brian the bartender she can't stop thinking about is friends with Ryan her one night stand. With the help of her friends, Caroline sets out on an adventure to determine what she is really looking for in a relationship and her life.
So...there were things I liked about this book and things I didn't. From the start, I really liked Caroline's two best friends. They are a riot and provide a lot of comedy to this book. And Ryan...he is written in a way that the reader instantly falls for him and wants Caroline to be with him. Which leads me to what I didn't like...and that was Caroline for most of the book. Because of how Ryan is written, it made it difficult for me to be in Caroline's head sometimes and some of the situations she got herself in were just plain uncomfortable. I am happy to say, I did end up liking her in the end though. The only other thing I didn't like was how the story ends...it's not really a cliffhanger but it just sort of stops. It would have been great to get a little more or even an epilogue with Caroline and her man in the future.
My thoughts:
POV Caroline Quick hook or slow starter? 4 (I was hooked pretty much from the first chapter) Character development: 4 Level of Romance between characters: 4 Passion/Heat level: 4 (there is a lot of sex, but it isn't very descriptive, I would have liked to have seen a little more in this story) Angst/Heartbreak: 4 (it is kind of a love triangle for most of the book) Cliffhanger?: It just kind of ends...maybe the author has another book planned??
Overall, when it was all said and done, I did like this story and I would defiantly read more from this author in the future.

***** 4.5 Stars *****
Operation: One Night Stand was hilarious, sexy, scandalous and with a hint of sweetness.
Caroline was lost after she caught her fiancé banging the intern on their bed. She spends the next couple months crying about her sad life and eating lots of ice cream, so much that ice cream was named after her situation. When her best friend had enough of her sobby ice cream face girl, they talked her into going out and going for OPERATION: ONE NIGHT STAND. Caroline was not the kind of girl that did one night stand, she was a relationship kind of girl. But after thinking about her situation, she agreed. That night she met sexy bartender Bryan, who became her help to win a tall blonde guy’s attention. Back and forth they sent each other the dirtiest cocktail, with the help of Bryan. There’s Sex Up Against the Wall, Screaming Orgasm, Slippery Nipple, Wet Pu**y and more. Bryan enjoyed their exchange and by the end of the night Bryan was hoping for her attention instead of the dumb blonde, but Caroline was new at this and she became lost. Instead of staying with Bryan, she took home Ryan. Ryan, who banged her till next week, that when she woke up, she was in pain all over and even had burning sensation. After that night Carolyn became a little bit of a slut. But will she ever figure out who and what she really wants? Can she really let go the attraction she has for Bryan and the growing friendship they were building? Read and find out.
As much of a little sl*t Caroline became, I couldn’t hate it. She was such a lovable character, who was just trying to find herself. Caroline and her friends are so funny with no filter. These girls talked about sex like it’s a normal thing to blab out. This is such a fun book, that had be laughing and giggling. Of course falling for Brian was the best part. That sexy hunk of a man had me in the beginning. Love love this, I can’t wait to read Operation Foreplay.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
This is a fun, entertaining read. I really enjoyed it.
Caroline Frost is a great character. I really liked getting to know her. She has been in a pity party ever since she found her boyfriend in bed with a work colleague six weeks before. In an effort to get her out of it, her best friends' Mel and Sarah organise an intervention, and Operation One Night Stand is born.
I started to read this book not really sure if I would like it. However, as I got further into the tale, I found myself giggling at the antics of these three women. In a way, this has a slight Sex In The City feel to it. I love the witty banter between the friends, as well as the other characters, especially Ryan and Brian. In a way, I found the plot a little predictable, but there were a few surprising twists that I didn't foresee. I love the bar scene where Brian (the bartender) and Caroline flirt for the first time, as well as the bathroom scene later. Talk about hot! *Fan's myself*
I enjoyed meeting Melody and Sarah, who are just as strong and feisty as Caroline. Sarah is Caroline's room mate and Melody is an old school friend. Ryan and Brian are gorgeous and sexy as sin. I liked both guys, though I thought Ryan wasn't quite right for Caroline. Subconsciously, I think Caroline knew it too.
This story had me smiling, then chuckling if not out right laughing at some of the situations some of the characters have gotten themselves into (the gym scene comes to mind). The sexual situations were explicit though not too erotic. However, they were all hot.
This book doesn't end with a HEA, but neither does it end in disaster. It fades out, so it is left to the reader to decide how they want the story to end. I would hope for a HEA, but life is not necessarily like that.
Christine Hughes has written a wonderful contemporary romantic comedy. This is the third book I have read by this author. I love her ability to bring the characters to life on the page. I eagerly look forward to reading more books by her in the future.
Due to scenes of an explicit nature, as well as bad language and excessive consumption of alcohol, I do not recommend this book to readers under the age of 18. However, I highly recommend this book if you love romantic comedies or contemporary romances. - Lynn Worton
Christine Hughes wrote my most favorite book of 2014, Three Days of Rain. Operation: One Night Stand is her newest novel and she has a hit on her hands once again. This book is definitely in the running for favorite of 2015, though she's got another Operation book coming out (This fall, I think...don't quote me on that. My memory is crap.), and I'm looking forward to that goodness as much as I did this one.
"There was nothing I loved more than reading and I wasn't a genre snob. Give me a shampoo bottle and I'd read it."
Oh my God! Caroline is ME! Check out the About Me page on my blog. I will read ANYTHING. I totally relate to this chick. Plus, she has the greatest friends anyone could ask for. They're all about telling the truth at all times, and are entirely unembarrassed to be themselves.
"You know there's a thin line between silly and stupid. Stop fucking border hopping."
Yeah, shit like that all through the book! As much as I blubbered and cried through Three Days of Rain, that's how much I cackled and laughed my way through Operation: One Night Stand. One liners, total setups, physical comedy, it's all there to help cover yourself with happiness and giggles.
Lest you think it's all about the comedy, you think wrong. There is most definitely romance and hot, dirty sex.
See the romance?
"I looked over and caught his eye. The best feeling in the world is when a girl looks over and her guy is already staring."
See the hot, dirty sex?
"'Caroline.' He grunted my name. 'Caroline. Slow down. I'm going to come.' Instead of slowing down, I held on and sped up, thrusting and rolling like a porn star. I was owning this motherfucking one night stand."
See the author becoming a NYT bestselling author? I do.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The quotes are from an uncorrected advance copy and may not be in the final published copy.
So, the plot doesn’t particularly appeal although I did find it fun to read about. It has a stereotypical feel; deserted and discarded female gets helped back on her feet by best-friends who know exactly the right thing to do. Instigate a one night stand. It’s a little clichéd and tired but I thought the writing really helped to give this book some punch. The mockery between them at times is so droll that I found myself a little taken with this friendship group.
“I thought I was gonna have to get you some syrup
to go along with that twat waffle attitude.”
Some of the writing does take a slang like edge (why do authors feel the need to?) but it just about works. For me as I’ve said in so, so, so, many reviews recently tighten it up, make it feel a little more intelligent and it’ll work better a whole. Get rid of the word ‘gonna’ please I can barely type it here. I thought the chemistry between Caroline and Brian was really hot and heady and I liked the constant toying and froing between her and Ryan and then back. It added a little heat, a little mystery. I think the characters could have been developed a little more especially Brian, I thought he definitely took too much of a back seat and could have easily been pushed to the forefront. I also liked that the ending wasn’t wrapped up perfectly; some readers want the ending wrapped up and given to them on a plate, I like a little intrigue.
A few grumbles; I guess for me it is a little clichéd, and the plot does feel a little tired. Maybe I’ve read to many of these types of books recently but just give me more. I thought the plot lacked a little decency, one night stand and all that and for me it doesn’t appeal as much in that sense but maybe I’m just being a little naïve. But, I did enjoy it. I thought it was a little tacky, a little corny and a little too much but I enjoyed it. A simple read that made me smile but didn’t quite hit all the right buttons.
*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Operation one night stand. I had read all the teasers for this book on the weeks leading up to its release and with each new snippet I found myself growing more and more excited to read the book. I have to say I was not dissapointed. Not at all.
Christine Hughes pitched this just right. It was beautifully written, hilarious, touching, sexy, honest and thoroughly entertaining. From the very first page I was hooked and didn't put it down until I had consumed the whole book. Even when my eyes blurred from tiredness at three in the morning I simply enlarged the text on my ereader and continued straight through.
The story focuses on Caroline, a woman knocking on the door of her 30's whose life essentially stops when she discovers her fiancee cheating with his intern. Everything she'd built of her life gets thrown into question and she sinks into despair (which in this case takes the form of her friends butter-yellow sofa and a few dozen pints of icecream). But Caroline has Melody and Sarah who stage the best kind of intervention I have ever heard of...Operation: one night stand.
What better way to get back in the saddle, take a little power over your own life and break a dating habit of a lifetime?
Lots of things happened after this...first I fell in love with Melody and the side splitting things that fell out of her mouth. Then I fell in love with Bartender Brian because OMG the bodyshot. Then I did a lot of oohinh ahhhing some heehawing a giggle-snort or two, there was some definite growling and a a lot of "cor blimey, that's hot." But the best part of all is that I smiled the whole way through. That's what this book does. It takes you on a journey with Caroline and with her you find a little happiness along with a side of laugh-out-loud snark. It leaves you throughly satisfied and eager for book two because - from that cheeky little teaser chapter Ms. Hughes left for us at the end of the book - Melody is in trouble! Totally recommended!
This is the story of Caroline Frost. After being in a relationship and engaged to Steven her whole world turns upside down when she finds out he is sleeping with Betsy the intern. Caroline decides that she needs to do things she has never done. That is how Operation One Night Stand takes effect.
“Steven never took a break. He pumped, dumped, and passed out.”
I loved her two close friends Sarah and Mel. I want them to be my friends!!!! The banter in this book is off the wall funny and I loved the relationship she had with her two close friends. Not only did they have each other’s backs but also they pointed out when they saw things that should be addressed.
“No one likes a spitter, Care.” Sarah pointed out.”
“Screw you bear, Caroline. Enough is enough. So Steven cheated on you. That doesn’t mean you have to become an ice cream swilling hermit!”
I am a sucker for a love triangle and this one was sort of unique. Bartender Brian was fantastic. I loved the chemistry between Caroline and Brian. I had several laugh out loud moments over the crazy stuff that happened when those two got together. Let’s not forget about the other hottie in her life Ryan. He was walking sex on a stick and let me say when those two got together the hot sex scenes could melt the panties off a nun.
“I was a lick away from orgasm and he’s accepting applause.”
The writing style and plot kept me glued to my kindle until I finished the book. This was just what I needed; it was a fun, flirty read that has some great one-liners. I really enjoyed this book and you might want to check it out if you are looking for a book that will have you giddy and laughing.

I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard at a book in my life. This book has given me so many new phrases it’s ridiculous. I abso-freakin-lutely loved this book. If I was single I would want friends like Sarah and Melody, they are a laugh riot.
The book is extremely well written and hilarious to boot. Here we meet Caroline whose scumbag ex-fiancé Steven got caught cheating on her with Betsy the Intern. After six weeks of sulking Sarah and Melody (or Mel) pull an intervention to get her off the couch and back on track. And they have fool proof plan on how to do it: Operation One Night Stand. The book then follows Caroline on her adventures to reclaim herself and her sex life.
There was never a dull moment in this book. It had me laughing from beginning to end. I wouldn’t be surprised if it got optioned for a movie release, I would totally watch it. It was the right mix of sex, comedy, and events that felt so real they could happen to anyone. I think that’s the thing I liked most about this book is that it was really real. Like the author wrote this from notes from her diary.
Overall this book is completely hilarious, sexy, and should be read by everyone over the age of 18. I hear Melody’s story is next and I can’t wait to find out what happens.

If you are looking for a quick, easy read with hot sex and several laugh out loud moments, then Operation One Night Stand is it. Christine Hughes wrote a story that I think many of us can relate to in one way or another. Boy cheats on girl, girl succumbs to sad movies and ice creams, best friends form an intervention, and voila…Operation One Night Stand is created. You know the saying, the best way to get over someone is to get UNDER someone? Well, what happens when you are presented with several…umm…options?
This is the story of Caroline and her stepping out of her ex’s shadow and becoming her own woman. With the help of her two best friends, a plan is hatched to help push this process along. Step one, put down the ice cream and step away from the couch. Step two, get dressed up and add some liquid courage. Step three, acquire a target. Step four, take target home. Easy, right? Not so much though when a hot, flirty bartender is involved and is “helping” acquire said target. What happens when Caroline starts to second guess her original choice?
I really enjoyed the writing style of Christine Hughes. I think the characters were well developed and the story flowed nicely. It made me laugh at many parts throughout the book. I love the drink recipe section at the end!
I give Operation One Night Stand 3.5 stars.

Operation:One Night Stand is the story of Caroline Frost and her recovery from her ex-fiance's betrayal with the office intern. When she seems to be developing a permanent relationship with ice cream and bad chic-flics, her friends Sarah and Melody basically force her to join the living by challenging her to have a one night stand.
Things go pretty well for Caroline, as she sets her target on Ryan at the local bar. And then there's the bartender, Brian. Everything gets complicated when it turns out the Ryan and Brian are roommates.
I loved the humor in this. There are some real laughs especially when she gets to tell her ex off. But she's faced with a real dilemma -- keep Ryan and his friends with benefits offer, or take a chance on Brian and another relationship?
I also liked the portrayal of the three women in this story as accomplished professionals who like to party and enjoy sexual encounters. There's no shaming here and I really liked that about this story.
The ending is predictable and sweet and doesn't quite pack the emotional punch I would have liked but it was a fun story about recovering from heartache.
I felt for Caroline from the get go! Men who cheat, will always cheat. This is my philosophy and you all are welcome to disagree. But a heads up to those women who date married or in this case engaged men, do not change your “vocation” from mistress to wife/girlfriend as it creates a job opening…just saying!
Caroline is way better off without her ex. But, her fun, flirting and fast acting with her one night stand Ryan should have been left at that. I wish she hadn’t gone back for seconds as it would have made the story better for the reader. Also, her “sexual awakening” was a bit of stretch when she hooked up with a vacay romance dude. Just saying, that one was OTT.
To quote the Knight, “She choose poorly” (name the movie!?!?!?). I loved the banter and flirting Caroline had with Brian the bartender. The story really picked up when Caroline and Brian began talking more seriously and hanging out more. This was the romance story that I wanted. Yes, the book is called Operation One Night Stand, but after that one night with Ryan, I would have loved for the story to move towards Caroline and Brian building a friendship and love…just the romantic in me, I guess. Enjoy!
This book felt a bit like a Sex and the City episode -- close girlfriends, lots of alcohol, lots of men, explicit sex...you get the picture. Parts were very funny (the gym scene had me cracking up) -- I may have woken my husband up while reading and laughing in bed.
To me, the book felt a bit rushed. I think it mainly has to do with the lack of development of the relationship with the ultimate love interest. I never got any warm fuzzies reading about them together because things just kind of happened and then the week after that cemented their relationship was kind of glossed over. I think the development of that relationship was particularly important after the time Caroline spent with other men. Maybe I'm just not used to reading about casual sex with multiple partners. The ending also felt abrupt.

I loved the chemistry between Brian and Caroline in Operation One Night Stand! Brian was so perfect for her that it was a tad frustrating when she decided to ignore her attraction for him and go home with Ryan, who ends up being Brian's friend and roommate. A relationship between Brian and Caroline at this point seems unlikely, but fortunately. they are able to work it out and be together. The body shots scene in the book was my favorite. In reality, something like that may come across as presumptuous and a little creepy, but in this context, Brian was totally swoon worthy and sexy! My only complaint and the reason for three stars instead of four, was that the ending wasn't wrapped up as neatly as I would have hoped. No clear end or epilogue to frame the HEA. Do they even have a happily ever after? We'll never know and that is a let down. This detail should not prevent anyone from giving this book a read. It's a fun and sexy story that is well worth the readers time.

Caroline Frost thought she had it all until her boyfriend cheated on her with an intern. To cope, she’s taken to mounds of ice cream and chick flicks until her two best friends come up with their plan—Operation One Night Stand. The rules are simple: Hook up with a hottie. See? Simple. Until she meets Bartender Brian. Then she’s torn between him and her initial pick for Operation One Night Stand.
Let me just say that Christine Hughes had me laughing so hard. The characters (all of them) were so believable. Following Caroline on her journey to self-acceptance was a wild ride and I finished wanting more of these characters. I absolutely LOVED the friendship between Caroline and her best girlfriends. And of course I LOVED the romance. It was a definite page turner; filled with love, laughter, and LOTS of wine! Looking forward to Operation Foreplay!
Oh wow this book had me hooked! It was a brilliant light read, was very HOT in places and had me laughing so much that reading it in public wasn't really an option! lol This is about Caroline breaking up with her fiance after 5 years because he cheated...she's living with a friend, Sarah, feeling sorry for herself and doubting everything. Sarah and her other friend Melody then come in with Operation One Night Stand. .it takes her a while to get on board with it but she does. It doesn't turn out quite like she expected in the end..it turns out better! Brian the HOT bartender is funny and sexy, there is instant chemistry there but he wasn't her 'target'. Some parts may be predictable but to be honest it was a brilliant, light, rom com type read. It had sass, humour and hotness! Loved it and can't wait to read the next! Highly recommend!
This is such a fun book to read. I really enjoyed it.
There are several romantic comedy books that couldn't pull off funny, and end up being corny. This book isn't like that, it was snort out loud funny. I laughed and cheer with the girls.
The characters are fun, loud, rude and lovable and totally relatable. I was rooting for Carolyne the whole time, like looking at ducklings taking their wobbly first step, adorable and precious. It made me want to sweep Carolyne up and cradle her to prevent her from falling down, yet at the same time, knowing it is her journey and that her first step is the most important of all, and also, she isn't real...sharks! I do want her to be real.
Anyway, I enjoyed this book immensely and had bought the second book by this author, Operation Foreplay.
Thank you Ms Hughes for writing such an entertaining book, I love it.
