Anatomy of Ruin: Dark Mafia Romance

RUBY

I remember the ice in his gaze at the cafe, a predator hidden in a custom suit, but I never expected to see him again in the dark.
My brother sold me to pay his debts.
Andrei Ignatov bought me.
The Bratva king is immaculate suits, ice-cold control, and the kind of violence that makes powerful men beg. I should want nothing from the man who claimed me in a room where human lives had price tags. Instead, every filthy touch makes escape feel less important than finding out exactly how far his obsession goes.
His world is built on blood, obedience, and betrayal. Someone wants his throne badly enough to start a war, and I’m trapped at the center of it with a man who treats possession like a promise.
I was supposed to be another thing men could use.
Andrei is about to teach them how expensive touching what belongs to him can become.

ANDREI

I noticed Ruby before I knew her name.
Finding her again among the depraved elite selling flesh for entertainment should have been coincidence. Buying her should have been strategy.
It was neither.
She looks at me without enough fear, fights me with a mouth made for sin, and crawls beneath my skin with every act of defiance. I have spent years building an empire through discipline and blood. One woman makes control feel dangerously overrated.
My enemies have mistaken obsession for weakness.
They’ll understand the difference once I’ve buried every traitor between Ruby and my throne.

This is the first book in the Anatomy After Dark Series. Reading Anatomy of Ruin, Anatomy of Fear, Anatomy of Power.

JFC this awful. When will Goodreads allow rating with zero or negative stars? Because I hate myself, I also skimmed through Books 2 & 3 of this series and it only got worse. The scenarios are so far fetched and ridiculous. The 2 MC’s have sex inside an air vent??? By the end of book 1, the FMC went from being a waitress at a diner to using gun lingo and knowing to operate all types of guns as if she’s been handling them since she first learned to walk. Let’s not forget while in the underground emergency bunker, she is able to remove 2 bullets from the MC, who she claims she heard him do “the death rattle” but miraculously he survives! And because it’s an emergency underground bunker, it’s only logical to have tattoo equipment on hand (but no antibiotics) so the MMC gives the FMC a tattoo. Absurdities like these run rampant through the entire series. And the fact that the author released three books in a month tells you this was all AI. 🤖

Given the option of being held in a Bratva torture cell or re-reading this book and skimming the other two, I’d pick the cell every single time. 🔪🔫🪑⛓️🔨🪓🪚

Best way I can describe this book is Mafia meets The Purge.
I loved it and felt completely original.
A very dark read. Very bloody and gory. It reads more horror than romance.

Now after reading this, even though I enjoyed the story I’m wondering if it was AI written. The dual POVs of the exact same scenes are described differently and there are noticeable discrepancies.

The plot is engaging enough that I want to continue.
