The town of Midian, Tennessee is spiraling straight to hell. Demons haunt the streets, people are dying by the hundreds, and the only defenders of the innocent townsfolk have been driven into hiding by a sheriff who doesn't know what he's dealing with.

Enter Katlin “Kitty” Elizabeth – demon royalty and a Duchess on a mission. Kitty comes to town with one purpose in mind: to dig up an ancient artifact that even most of the demon world doesn't want to see the light of day. But here in the rising heart of chaos, secrets begin to come to light even as an improbable alliance begins to form – though it's anyone's guess as to whether it'll be too little, too late when it comes to saving Midian...

Louise...!

Ok, peeps; I KNOW I'm late to the Southern Watch party, but Woohoo! What a ride! This scrubbed me up and hung me out to dry and, again, I loved every second of it (even with some fairly brutal triggers; it's that good). Definitely lives up to its reader warning; NOT for the faint-hearted among us but, speaking as someone who's experienced similar ordeals in my life (we all have our own demons I guess), it's well written (as always with Mr. Crane's work) and harrowingly bleak-but-life-affirming. Legion, I'm coming for you...

Wow, that covers it

This series is so good and unique. If you like anything a little weird but very moving, try this series. The characters are all different but interesting.

Better than Three

This series was good when I started it, but it seems to be improving with each new book. This one is the best so far. Can't wait for book#5. I do notice that each book is rather poorly edited with numerous grammatical and typographical errors in my Kindle version. I can't comment on the paper copies. It doesn't seem like it's the author's writing, it's a fault of the proofing. It's such a shame because this is such a great series and the proofing errors are a serious distraction.

Kitty Elizabeth is the latest big bad with Midian in her sights and she's the baddest yet. Hendricks is tested to the extreme and I was worried for his life (no surprise with RJC's culling record). The others in the demon rodeo work hard to once again save the town while the tangled web of those finding out the truth gets larger. These books are seriously amazing!

^The entire series just pulls you in & keeps you there.

There are NO spoilers in my review. I only gave this book 3 stars for 2 reasons that I will explain at the end of my review. The book was great as far as the world the author brings you into & lives of the characters. the characters were well developed & there was lots of action to keep you turning pages. the Southern watch series was a fresh read unlike any demon paranormal book I have read to date. You will find yourself cheering the good guys on in both their fight to rid the earth of the demons & in their relationships. You will also want to do the head slap thing to a couple of the characters too. Now the demons well a few scenes left me feeling a bit dirty & repulsed;  I just wanted to jump into the book & help send the demons back to hell.

I am not sure which direction book 5 will go but I can’t wait to read it & see. For me I see many more late nights reading into the wee hours & struggling as I try & balance reading & sleeping. I am able to read mostly at night once the house is asleep.I had many mornings where I needed all 6 yes 6 of my alarms to go off so I woke in time to get everyone off to school/work.

Now the reasons I only gave this book 3 stars. Someone needs to do a better job editing.I HATE a ton of errors it just ruins the flow of the story. It would not be so bad if it was 1 or 2 errors BUT you run into the errors dang near every 3rd or 4th page. I also feel like the reader means little to the author considering the publication date. I would have thought he would have fixed the editing errors long ago.

** See examples below.

The other reason for the 3 stars is the change in character names during the entire book. One time they are referred to by 1st & last name, others just the first name or a nickname. If they were not mentioned regularly in the book you may need to backtrack to know who the author is writing about.

Overall all things considered I would recommend the Southern Watch Series be added to your TBR list.

It was a like a low buzz in his head, bees crawling in his ears as he stared at that thin

Yep, Reeve figured, that was about he felt.

I think she is just up to the garden variety, and she’s so good at hiding behind closed doors I can’t open that she’ll probably get away with it this time, too.”

I know I’m … different than almost anyone else. I just assumed that my faith and how I tight I cling to it … that

Well as much as I am enjoying this more adult series from Mr Crane, I have to say that I'm very disappointed with this one.

An author with the imagination and writing ability such as Mr Crane who spend a vast amount of time ensuring one of their main characters doesn't swear should not need to resort to liberally using the 'c' word throughout this book.

I appreciate that there is a 'warning' on the front when you order it but I have to say that as a 'mature' reader, I hate reading that word. For me it detracted from the novel because it was so out of place (and this is saying something in a series of books filled with swearing).

I have read the other books and enjoyed those as well. I love Hendricks and his sarcasm...Arch and his steadfast refusal to swear. Duncan is also a joy.

Read them, they're good but just be warned Book 4 is not for anyone who hates the 'c' word.

While this series is disturbing on many levels, it is also a series that I am glad that I've read and will continue to read until the brutal, blood end. Many of the characters are flawed, some are just evil and the demons are enough to make any lover of horror stories cringe.

Mr. Crane has said that this is his least popular series and as such is on the back burner in order of writing, publication and release; book 8 was tentatively scheduled for 2019 and has been pushed back until 2020 and I'm disappointed. I'm not sure how many more are planned, but I'd like to finish the series before I die so I hope he'll change his mind.

Mr. Crane, because of this series you have a new fan who plans to read your other series. The next one will be the second least popular.

Every bit of awesomness!

When I first started this book , I really wasn't sure i would like it.Didnt delete or anything, just put it down for awhile and started another book. When I finished that book I went back to these and plowed right in!
Extra things surprised me. I have read all of Robert J. Cranes books so I knew I needed to keep reading. You won't find a more interesting book than these. So grab your books and settle In
the magical story of Demons, shells, dark magic and scary nights!

It is totally worth it!

This is the fourth book in an intriguing series. The setting is in a small Tennessee town, where there are demons hidden hidden amongst normal people. This is true for the entire world. The town is a hotspot for demon activity. Demons come in a wide variety of powers and abilities, but most are dangerous to humans. There is a good set of characters who are well developed. Each book ends up with a particular demon as the main enemy, leading to plenty of action.

Just way overboard

There's something wrong with the mind of Robert Crane - I wouldn't let him near my kids after reading two books full of his rape fantasies that he's put into print. He has so many graphic depictions of rape, including child rape, that he has to focus on that in his spare time. After reading the previous book and getting about five chapters into this, I'm left with the fear that Crane might live within a hundred yards of a school or church.

Story is ramping up.

This is a good nonstop action series. Characters are worth rooting for and likable. The cussing also ramped up in this book and the author went too far using the C word and way too many times. That’s a terrible shame because the author has real talent and could make this series just as compelling without upping the word count by putting 3-5 cuss words into one sentence.

Excellent book in the series! Hendricks, Arch, Duncan, and Alison are about to get help from several people in their fight against demons. The new helpers are in for an awakening in their lives with fast action and even bits of humor. There is a new badass in town and things are changing. Read this book and the series which I highly recommend!

They just get better!

Each book has been better than the last! You wouldn't think the intensity could grow with each one, yet it does. More characters drawn into the fight, more demons trying take over the town, then the world. Not a boring moment to be had!
On to the next book ...

Great story

Another chapter in the lives of the demon hunters of Midian, Tennessee. This time they deal with a royal demon and one that has been separated into pieces to forestall the coming of Armageddon. A good time was NOT had by all - except maybe the readers of the book.

Very graphic sexual language and acts!

I am not a price but it really bothers me that out of the characters in the book only be does not cuss. My friends and my family do not cuss. But fighting demons I like to read about because if there is well there is heaven.

eerie archeology

Arch and friends have come across a demon problem that Duncan cannot let them solve. it involves an ancient prohibition on certain demons that Duncan can't break. maybe..... if he doesn't find a way, Midian might as well plan on moving.

Worth every word.

The action goes on. But there was a bit too much time spent on carnal matters And i almost became bored as the much used complaint by kitty professes.
But other than that, keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next chapter....

Too Graphic

Still worth the read in this saga but prepare yourself for unnecessarily lengthy descriptions of torture that went on well beyond what was needed to get the point across.

This is a fascinating story. Even with all the obscene language and sex.
