Janey June Jamieson grew up with her parents and younger sister, Ellie, on the idyllic Shag Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia. When the girls are sent to the mainland to finish high school, they find themselves in the centre of a social web they were not prepared for.

Janey is reserved and a bit of a people pleaser. Ellie is her an enthusiastic prankster. But to those in Wood Point, they are the Island Girls. This makes them a source of fascination, particularly for two WWII veterans, Stuart and Ronnie. Stuart outwardly pursues Janey while Ronnie remains in his shadow, always leering at Ellie. Janey agrees to a date with Stuart; Ellie bluntly rejects her pursuer, preferring the gentler Tim.

Janey does not want to offend Stuart, but she knows she does not like him. This is reinforced as Stuart antagonizes all around her. Then, shortly after Janey returns to Shag Island for the summer, a young man, Henry, arrives. Janey and Henry fall instantly in love, but Henry is hiding a secret that keeps them apart. Life becomes even more complicated once Janey visits with Sally, a local “witch” who provides Janey with a mysterious riddle to guide her heart.

Torn between a man she does not want and a man she cannot have, Janey must learn to trust her instincts and find her way through the untamed wilderness of adulthood. Meanwhile, around her, love blooms and love dies as the sometimes-unforgiving maritime seasons pass by.

Turquoise is one of my favourite novels so for this
Novel to be connected caused great excitement.
The extra for number two of the series is I got to meet the author! Not surprisingly she is an awesome person
Which one would fully expect when turning out these two novels! Again it turned on the tears. I cannot wait until number three. I hope she continues to entertain us for many years to come!

Violet by M. Ashley Anderson is a newly published 306 page paperback released in August 2026. With no ratings or reviews yet, the book is at a particularly early stage of reader discovery.

The single word title gives the book an immediate sense of intimacy and intrigue. Violet can evoke a person, a memory, a color, or even a symbolic emotional landscape, creating an open invitation for readers to discover what significance the name carries within the story.

From a reader and promotional perspective, the biggest opportunity is establishing the book’s identity early. Since there is not yet an existing review footprint, introducing it to the right fiction communities and encouraging genuine early reader responses could help create the foundation for long term discoverability.

The book’s 306 page length also gives it room to develop a substantial narrative experience rather than feeling like a brief character study. At this stage, Violet has the advantage of being a fresh release with an intriguing title and plenty of room to build its first community of readers.
