His Innocent Captive

Before I was his bride, I was his captive.

By the time Cristiano Sorrenti pinned my arms above my head and mastered my virgin body for the first time, this ruthless mafia kingpin had already bent me over and spanked my ass red.

But when I come so hard I scream for him tonight, he won't be ravaging a helpless captive.

He'll be claiming his bride.

An intense story with a hopeful HEA

This is a story about a severely traumatized young woman sent to carry out an impossible task by her family and how she slowly finds her voice. She has been systematically abused by her family for years. The story is at times difficult to read and her family is two dimensionally painted as selfishly evil with no redeeming qualities. There are many triggers warnings including descriptions of past abuse, rape by the MMC toward the FMC (she cannot consent as she is a captive and has been conditioned to accept whatever is done to her), imprisonment, spanking as punishment, and dissociation as defense mechanism. The MMC uses her defenses to establish a D/s dynamic which provides space for her to begin finding her voice. There is not a rosy HEA but a hopeful one nonetheless. The main Trauma effects are handled with respect and compassion. The MMC is perhaps too insightful into her inner conflicts and it is unclear how he falls for her outside of her initial extreme submission though he enjoys and nurtures her moments of defiant strength. I enjoyed the story arc and liked the different structure it provided rather than the usual tropes of this genre. Because of the possible triggers this book isn’t for everyone but it’s still a good read.

Has its moments

The MMC kisses the FMC only twice in this entire book. 1st time is well past the 65% mark after theyve had plenty of smrx & too much anal. Im supposed to believe they love each other- right.

A part of me feels thst a portion of this was made with AI. There is a LOT of repetitive sentences and events brought up over & over & over again to beat it home.

Author is male brain thinking. She loved her MMC - he is so fleshed out & all that. He even gets to with hold orgasms from the FMC just cause. He has things to do, hobbies, friends etc.

The FMC has zero hobbies, zero thoughts other than the mmc, obeying & her family, she's lonely & has zero friends & afamily that want her dead. She was almost just a cardboard cut out with victomhood is her only characteristic.

I really felt sorry for her because she ended up with a guy who kissed her twice & went down on her once after getting forced bjs, anal x3, and all the sex he asks for. It made what the MMC did to the FMC sexually kinda gross.

Ending was rushed & left unresolved.

Real plot came out of nowhere - they wanted to trade info. But that never panned out.

And we NEVER find out WHY she was ordered to kill the MMC. Why they wanted him dead. Nothing! Unbelievable.

His Innocent Captive was such an addictive dark mafia romance! From the beginning, the story pulled me in with the danger, tension, and complicated relationship between the characters. I loved the darker atmosphere and the way the romance slowly developed despite everything standing between them.

The chemistry between the main characters was intense, and there were plenty of emotional moments that kept me invested in their story. The mafia world added suspense and danger, while the romance brought in those possessive, protective moments I love in this type of book.

I found myself wanting to keep reading just to see how everything would unfold. There were twists, drama, secrets, and plenty of tension along the way. The characters had flaws, but that made them feel more interesting and gave the story an extra layer.

Overall, this was a captivating read with a good mix of dark romance, suspense, and emotional moments. If you enjoy possessive mafia heroes, innocent heroines, danger, and intense chemistry, this one is definitely worth adding to your list!.

This one will have the reader on a dark roller coaster ride. The first chapter had the family who used and broke Ella. Then Cristiano breaks her even further. Ella has learned to go silent and still and outside of herself. By now the reader just despises everyone and everything for what they have done to Ella. Somewhere along the line, Cristiano changes. He realizes what she needs and brings her slowly back to herself. The reader starts cheering for him. Then in a move lacking any intelligent thought, he breaks her again. This time he breaks himself once he realizes the effect of his actions. He wants to fix it but doesn't know how. He does give Ella the key to bring herself back. I don't hand out five stars - trust me this one until midway was in the negative - but somehow the author managed to delve into the psychological abuse that destroys a person and bring a broken person slowly back to herself. It's not a cheery happy ending where everything is resolved. It's the ending Ella needed to begin again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It is not an exaggeration to say that this author’s books are dark. If you don’t like a lot of sex in your books you may want to skip this one! Fortunately I love it and understood this book was more about coming out of abuse from the people you trust the most! I would have enjoyed and epilogue showing deeper happiness but I get that this character’s healing was more important to the story

I also hold covers in deep importance and this one gets a 5 out of 5 from me

A thrilling new twist on Cinderella, a dark mafia romance with control and power exchange. It was exiting from start to finish and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was very pleased with this retelling as it was one of the best ones that I’ve read! You do need to read the triggers as it is quite heavy on them as she is abused and then held captive where consent is dubious at best.

His Innocent Captive is Cristiano and Ella's Cinderella-esque story and it's quite consuming. Dark and dirty just as it should be this book will quickly pull you in and take over from beginning to end. Keep in mind it's a dark read so make make sure to check the trigger warnings before you start reading. Definitely a must read!

Epic mafia romance!

I absolutely loved this book! The suspense builds slowly. Ella was broken before, slowly recovering as she found peace in Cristiano’s gentle yet controlling embrace. He breaks her unintentionally but manages to undo the damage. Just a beautiful, slow burn mafia romance.
