Jaye Marellen has always believed Belle should have stayed with the Beast—because let’s be honest, the grumpy guy with claws was the best part of the story. She writes romances full of banter, heat, and a little bit of magic, where happily-ever-after doesn’t mean sanding off the rough edges. When she’s not dreaming up growly heroes and the women bold enough to love them, you’ll find her reading spicy stories, sipping too much coffee, and rooting for love stories with a twist.
I absolutely loved the first book however this second book had like no emotion throughout the whole book. Even the spicy scenes were too precise too calculated barely any description. I want to whole heartedly believe the author didn’t use a certain program to write this but it’s too emotionless to be human. The storyline itself is what hooked me but it was so hard to read because I wasn’t pulled into the story like I was with book 1. There is no flare no pizzazz no emotion. It’s all described like a CIA agent describes a day in the life. Also what the hell is with all the “ands”. I feel all the ands in a very long sentence could have been replaced with some emotion. I really hope the author does a couple more edits to this book because it seriously has so much potential. I also hope book three is better than book two. I do want to read it because again the storyline itself is really good but the writing is just so militant so precise. Which contradicts the about the author section.
Flippin’ Brilliant!! * CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOOK ONE
It ended on a cliffhanger, because of course it does. A fantastic read, finished it in less than a morning including breaks for housework! Apparently sleep is optional at this stage because I’m diving into the next book as soon as I’m done here.
The thing is that the outline of the plot is obvious from mates to the outline of the current politics and the original shifter war but that has no impact on the quality of the story. Which as noted is flippin’ brilliant. This could easily be a fairytale, there’s even one real historic parallel…minus the wolf angle of course.
Jessica Miller went for a week long introduction to a university with a free ride that changed her life completely. Not human, but wolf. There was so much more to unwrap because it went from someone trying to block the Latent Shifter Initiative to being convinced she was being sent home after the trial. SPOILERS FOR BOOK ONE Before she made it back to the campus there was an attack by a feral bear, she shifted. Jessica is not an ordinary wolf, she’s an impossibility.
After a gruelling 4 months over the summer of seemingly endless questions she’s back at Luftis Academy with her two mates and now that she knows what those instincts and feelings mean she knows there are others. The questions surrounding her ancestry and heritage won’t go away. There are people out there who want to control or kill her and they aren’t going to stop trying get what they want.
WARNING! Cliffhanger! This rates a pretty strong 5/5 on my trauma scale, because we are most definitely left hanging!
Jessica finally shifted in order to save everyone, but that turn comes with a certain cost, and she now has to both learn about her hidden family history, as well as learning how to control her shift. Then there are her mates- both those she has bonded with, and those she hasn’t, and that also arrives with some complications.
Lots of action, some spice, and plenty of mystery can be found in this second book of the Luftis academy series. We meet a few new characters, discover some very intriguing things, and follow with Jessica as she faces down danger, in this fast paced and action filled book. I’m looking forward to discovering some of the revelations yet to come - who is behind the events in this book, and why? What did the fourth house do? How does Jessica fit into this? I have some ideas and am anxious to see the answers soon!
An exciting read for RH and academy fantasy lovers.
Ok so Jessica is a latent wolf in book one, discovered via blood test and offered a place at an academy for wolf shifters. At the end of book one she finally shifts, but she’s not a typical wolf, she’s a direwolf. Direwolfs are important because they’re the only wolfs from the royal fourth house, who were all slain two centuries ago for a betrayal.
What irks me is that suddenly she has these rare fated mates which are glossed over, and the previous students hesitation with the princes are gone (they were too dominant in book one and no one could look at them). It also annoys me how time just suddenly jumps, no chapter break, no lead up, just suddenly it’ll be two months later. The romance isn’t fantastic either, they just suddenly run at each other and make out. I feel like the author is unsuccessfully trying to create yearning with multiple men, and it’s not really working out that well. Also, what happened to her lizard pickles??? Not one mention of pickles this book.
Anyway, interesting premise, easy enough to read that I’ll probably finish the last book.

This book took a turn and had a lot of AI qualifiers, especially in the last half of the book. The first book was funny and had some great characters. Love her cohort. Sadly they don’t get as much airtime during this one as she starts getting closer to her mates. Poor Pickles disappeared. Then the story kind of stops progressing and the dialogue goes into that staccato AI mode. I’m not sure how refusing to reveal what the Fourth House did will add significantly to a big reveal later as details could have been teased out without giving the whole thing away. Also, the whole scene with Luke and his father missed a HUGE point and that was her mating to two princes. How do they share a mate and still rule their own packs/kingdoms. Just a blatant oversight any editor should have caught.

Okay soooo I can see why some people might think it's written by a program. This one is lacking a little bit of the emotional side of things. Or maybe that's on purpose I don't know. It's more clinical like Professor Faris lol. Like the author was just trying to get the information out instead of what naturally comes with said information. Jessica is going through a lot of things very fast. She doesn't have a lot of time to take a minute and that's not natural in how this is written. If that makes sense. Kinda like it's making bullets like an outline so it appears that it's not written by a person soooo I can kinda understand what people are talking about. Whether that's the case I don't know. This book felt different than the first one. At least I didn't pay for it. KU.
I tried to get through this book but it just wasn’t well developed at all. There wasn’t a lot of character growth or relationship building and the plot isn’t developing fast enough to keep my interest. I also think it skips ahead a lot and everything is so choppy. It did honestly read like something generated with AI so I ran it through a checker and surprisingly it didn’t show up as AI. However, the author uses an AI generated image for her profile and that gave me the ick and it’s a red flag for sure.
I pushed on till I couldn't. After reading book 1 I thought I'd at least attempt to finish this one.
This book is dismal. The writing style reads like AI, there is no feeling to it and people are just staged all over the place. Jessica has managed to sound automated with sprinkles of TSTL.
What absolutely lost all the stars for me was turning the whole book into Ancestry dot com. The worst part was then repeating all of the bore me to death information over and over.
So I was looking forward to book 2, now I am waiting for book 3! Jessica is on her journey of finding her families past, with the help of her friends and the academy. Love the supporting cast and how loyal the original crew is. I have also laughed a lot in these books, which helps with the heavy in this book. Still a lot to come for this crew.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The first book was ok. Ihad high expectations that this second book would be better…I read half way through and started getting bored…so I forwarded a few chapters and lost nothing…near the end it started getting more interesting so I will read the third book or start…I’m not sure I like the MFC or not…I like her friends and love interests…. We will see where it goes…
A gripping continuation of the series, Legacy Elite is every bit as well‑written and captivating as the first book. The story pulls you in from the start and keeps you hooked until the very last page. It’s intense, emotional, and impossible to put down. I can’t wait to see how the conclusion ties everything together
I am anxiously awaiting book 3. This one ended hanging on a cliff! Strong MFC, snarky, funny, lots of humor with supporting cast. Great MMC, (several) storyline human to (?, no spoiler) I love the dialogue. Academy, war history involving 4 Houses of "royalty" one extinct...maybe. Highly recommend.
BRO WHAT WAS RHAT CLIFFHANGER!!!! The only thing keeping me going is the fact that the third book comes out in nine days and the fourth book comes out sometime in November. I’m so glad I won’t have to wait super long. This book again had me hooked from the beginning, so much so that it’s now 8am, and I still haven’t gone to bed.
I loved the second book much more than the first. Glad I stuck with it! It’s such a different story line than regular repetitive books in this genre. Can’t wait for book 3!
I just love the writing style that this author has. It makes you feel like you are right there with her. Can’t wait to start the next book in this series
I ate this series up and am desperate for book 3! SO GOOD! I didn’t realize at first it was interconnected to two of her other series so I’m going to have to binge those next!
I had to take a star off for the writing style. The story is great and I kept reading because of it! This writing style drives me crazy. I’ve started book 3 and I’m not sure if I can finish because of the writing style alone. The sentences are short and choppy, and that kills it for me personally. I’m not sure how else to describe it, maybe robotic? If anyone has a better description of it please spell it out for me, I don’t know why I just can’t stand it. Idk, I’ve DNF’d for way less, so the story grasped me enough to stay so far and give a decent rating despite the writing making me want to bang my head against the wall.
