4.5 Stars! Could not put this book down.

The sequel to Dropping Stones is even better than the first book. The writing, the pacing, and the main character have improved as well. So much so that I didn't get any work done today. All I wanted to do was keep reading to find out what was going to happen to the former mayor.

I love how we are taken into his political world, how we see the new struggles he has to face, but how much he has already grown since the first book. I also really like the character of Jennifer. She was in a desperate situation but there was nothing pathetic about her at all. And in the end, when emotions run extremely high, I was moved to tears.

I wish the way the former mayor and Jennifer fell in love was shown more and not just told but I also understand that the rest of the story took precedence. I guess that's the romance reader in me wanting to feel more of the love story. However, you do feel their love for each other toward the end.

The Christian aspect is even stronger in this book and the symbolism is as well. You can see it in the characters and in the events that unfold. All in all, this book is powerful, riveting, and a joy to read.

Another great read from this author. I feel like the main character developed so much more in this book. At the end of book one he had begun to have a spiritual awakening, but book two revealed just how far he still had to go. I love the twists with Jennifer, who is herself on a spiritual journey, albeit much further along than the main character. It's amazing to read how both read and grow and challenge each other. It's amazing and very satisfying to see the main character go from being only a political patsy, interested solely in his career and furthering it, to being a real man of honor. I felt like this book and its message are extremely pertinent, especially in today's politically charged atmosphere. Bravo to the author. Excited to read book 3.
