Some love is found in the truth, but some is forged where secrets fester, lies thrive, and addiction takes hold.
Mia
Once upon a time, I was a super-model, traveling the world, posing for photographs and living the fast life. After losing everything, I hide away from the world, falling into a sullen routine. I never asked for this, but it’s the only thing that brings any semblance of peace and certainty into my life. The last thing I need is the out-of-control Jett Black weaseling his way into my heart. He’s angry, violent, and battling an addiction that destroys everything in his path. But he sees me, the real me, and doesn’t turn away. More than anything else, that terrifies me. With one look, I fear all my secrets are going to be told, and my reclusive life will be the only one I ever know.
Jett
I have wanted Mia since I met her six years ago, but she won’t give me a chance until I get clean because she doesn’t want to deal with my “issues”. But I don’t have a problem, so that’s not going to happen. I know the cost of creativity, and I am willing to pay for it, tenfold if I have to. My sweet little angel thinks everyone plays by the rules, her rules. She should know I don’t play by anybody’s rules but my own. I’m used to getting what I want, whether it’s freely given or taken by force. I don’t mind either way as long as I win, and I always do, even if I ruin everything in the end, spiraling out of control in Jett Black fashion.
Can Jett find a new addiction to fuel his need for pain and control, or will he be too late, proving to Mia that he is nothing more than a broken man unable to change for the love he desires?
Dark Volume Two is the second book in the Spiral Duet, A Dark Rockstar Romance, and is for an 18+ audience as it contains scenes that might not be suitable for all readers.
Please Date is a place holder only. This will release earlier.
I hate talking about myself. I'm awkward AF and write super spicy books with twisty plots. Most of my books are dark romance so always check the content warnings!
Chelle Rose has done it again… and honestly, I think she may be personally responsible for the ever-growing length of trigger-warning pages.
I have this image of Chelle sitting at her desk thinking, “Right… how many trigger warnings can I fit into this one?” before giving that little evil author chuckle when she realises she’s somehow outdone herself again.
But Dark Notes: Volume II isn’t just about trauma though.
This time, Chelle takes on addiction—and she tackles it like she’s slaying the dragon with her words. 🐉
We meet Mia, once a supermodel living a fast, glamorous life, now hiding herself away from the world after losing everything. She’s built herself a quiet, controlled existence because certainty feels safer than everything she’s already survived.
And then there’s Jett Black.
Oh, Jett.
He’s wanted Mia for six years, but wanting her doesn’t magically make him capable of being the man she needs. He’s angry, violent, battling addiction and spiralling in a way that threatens to destroy everything around him.
And Mia knows exactly what she needs from him:
Get clean.
What follows is not a neat little love fixes everything story.
Thank God.
Chelle digs right into the ugly reality of addiction—the denial, the destruction, the selfishness, the pain and the ripple effect it has on the people who love you.
She doesn’t romanticise it.
She doesn’t soften it.
She makes you feel it.
And somehow it feels like she’s standing there, slaying that dragon 🐉 for the people who aren’t strong enough to fight yet—for the people living through something they may not even know how to escape from.
It’s brutal, raw, honest and heartbreaking.
There were moments that hurt to read, but those are exactly the moments that made this story feel so incredibly real.
And underneath all that darkness is the complicated relationship between Mia and Jett.
Because love can be powerful…
…but love alone cannot do the work someone has to choose to do for themselves.
Dark Notes: Volume II got under my skin.
It burrowed its way into my heart, sat there making itself comfortable, and I already know it’s going to stay with me for a very long time.
Chelle has created another truly emotional story, tackling some incredibly difficult subjects with honesty, compassion and absolutely no sugar-coating.
And honestly?
She nailed it.
As always, PLEASE CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS.
This isn’t me casually suggesting you might want to have a peek.
Read them.
This is not an easy story for everyone, and knowing what you’re stepping into matters.
But if you’re able to take this journey…
It is so worth it. 🖤
Chelle, you magnificent, slightly terrifying woman…
💔 Dark Volume Two absolutely wrecked me, in the best way.
Jett and Mia’s story was raw, messy, heartbreaking, and impossible to put down. Jett’s battle with addiction, his anger, his self-destruction, and the way he struggles to believe he’s worthy of love made his character so painfully real. Watching him spiral while still desperately wanting Mia had my heart breaking for him.
This one hit home for me personally, which made Jett’s struggles feel even more emotional and difficult to read at times. His battle with addiction and the way it affects not only him but the people who love him really stayed with me. There were moments that felt painfully familiar, and that made the story hit on a completely different level. ❤️🩹
And Mia, the secrets, the fear, and the walls she built around herself made their connection even more intense. Their love felt complicated, imperfect, and incredibly emotional.
The SPICE 🔥🥵 The chemistry between Jett and Mia was absolutely 🔥. Their attraction was intense and undeniable!
This book took me through every feeling, heartbreak, frustration, hope, desire, and love. I was completely invested in these two and I absolutely loved it. 🖤🔥
I now see why so many people mentioned the trigger warnings and to be prepared for a really tough book. This author has brought drug abuse to the forefront and it absolutely wrecked me…but it was so worth it. Jett is a rock star and lives the rock star life while Mia was a model who had to step away. Both come from incredibly hard childhoods that shaped them into the people they are today. For six years Jett has wanted his chance with Mia and now that he has it, he will have to fight his demons in order to keep her.
This was an incredible book and left me feeling emotionally spent because it tackled addiction in the most real way possible and I delved into this book with my whole being. Well done Ms. Rose.
You're going to need to buckle up mentally. You're going to want to really lock in and read those triggers. Because... Did I know my most hated trope was in this? Of course I did. I'm a beta reader for this author queen. Did I know this was going to be an emotional roller coaster? Naturally. Tis my favorite kind of roller coaster.
But this book had a way of breaking everything down and then building it back together to form something beautiful. The way this was written made me feel like I was right beside these characters and sharing their moments no matter how big or small. I wanted to hug them and tell them they are worthy of good things.
Spiral series indeed because what the HECK am I supposed to read after that?!
My heart broke so many times on this raw emotional rollercoaster but it was such a beautiful story.
Jett, oh Jett. I deeply felt the absolute devotion and love he has for Mia. But he's stuck in a whirlpool, dragging him down into a devastating and damaging place. The only one who can keep his head above water is her, but while she's trying to help him, she's being dragged down with him. Mia had her own hardship with her previous career and the fallout the happened. The two of them were destined to be together and the chemistry was off the charts. Because of that the spice was intimate, intense and amazing.
They fought for themselves in a battle of self growth and they also fought for each other. It was written so well.
If your okay with the warnings then I highly recommend this book!

Mia was a world-famous model, but after gaining what the industry considers too much weight, she’s been dumped by both her manager and her modeling agency. Unfortunately, that’s just the tip of the iceberg for this woman. Mia has suffered more than her fair share of pain, and to make matters worse, she’s in love with a junkie. Jett is the gorgeous rock god of Dark Notes, a rockstar and an addict. He’s also crazy in love with Mia and fiercely protective of her. And when I say crazy, I mean this man would kill and destroy anyone who dared to hurt his woman. Beneath that dangerous exterior, though, Jett is sweet, loyal, and devoted to the people he loves. When Jett pours his heart out to Mia, she almost runs in the opposite direction. But honestly, how do you walk away from a man who doesn’t even have to think twice about tattooing your name on his Princess Sofia?! Talk about a declaration of love! Sadly, Jett is convinced it’s only a matter of time before he screws everything up and Mia walks away. He’s an addict, and the demons from his past refuse to leave him in peace. To say these two endured childhoods that were the stuff of nightmares would be a gross understatement. They’ve both been through so much, and I love how they find strength, comfort, and love in each other. Their bond is one of the things that really worked for me in this story. That said, I found some of the obstacles completely unnecessary and distracting. I won’t spoil anything, but there were certain developments that didn’t move the story forward, and a few things simply didn’t make sense to me. Still, the ending was good, and despite my issues with some parts of the story, I enjoyed the journey. I’m giving this book four -4.25 stars and recommending it to readers who enjoy angsty rockstar romance, damaged characters, and a love that refuses to give up.
I knew going into this book that there were some dark themes with a heavy emphasis on drug addiction, especially after it briefly discussed Jett's addiction in Dark Notes Vol 1.
With that being said, if you have a difficult time with addiction, then this might not be for you especially when there is use written openly through the book. I did appreciate the extra trigger warnings before a chapter which expressed what was about to happen. I think that it is very beneficial to the reader to decide if this is not for them, or prepare themself for something that will be uncomfortable to read.
I grew up around addiction and I wasn't sure if this would be a hard read for me, or if I'd have to DNF it because it hit too close to home. My mom died of a heroin overdose 11 years ago, and some days it's hard when I remember how abruptly I lost her, even if I knew that someday I'd lose her to her battle with addiction. Despite having this history, I genuinely enjoyed this book and it showing the dark sides to Jett and his addiction. Showing the person with addictions but also expressing that it's their choice to get sober and not someone else's decision. It is very hard to watch a loved one you care so much about struggle with an addiction that is all consuming. Chelle Rose did a great job in expressing how it is to be an addict but also the struggles of loving someone who is an addict.
Is this book for everyone? No, I don't think so. Was it a rough read for me and had my heart ache pretty much the entire time? Yes, but that's solely because of my history with loving someone with addiction. I think what pushed me through to read the book to completion so that I could see how Jett and Mia's story ended. I ached for them to work out and to be eachothers saviors and not a beautiful love story that ends in heartache and pain. I wanted to see if they got their HEA, if Jett chose himself instead of letting his addiction win, and let Mia be there for him throughout the struggles. I guess I just wanted to see if maybe they got the ending I unfortunately never got.
I'm not sure how a person without a history of addiction (using or knowing someone who uses) would react to this book or understand the complexity of the disease but I think it's a great read for those who might want a brief insight on how addiction can plague people's lives. Seeing Jett's love for Mia, him accepting her despite her past traumas, and Mia loving Jett despite his past was a love story that I’ll forever hold dear.
JETT BLACK: MY NEWEST PROBLEM. EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED. ZERO REGRETS.
Chelle Rose has done it AGAIN… and at this point I’m convinced she’s personally responsible for the ever-growing trigger-warning pages. 😂
Jett and Mia absolutely fucking wrecked me.
This book is dark, messy, emotional and brutally honest. Jett’s addiction isn’t romanticised or magically fixed by love. He has to choose to fight for himself, and watching him spiral had my heart in pieces.
“There’s but one guarantee in life. If something good comes my way, I’ll destroy it.” 💔
And then there’s Mia the woman Jett has wanted for SIX YEARS.
The chemistry between these two? 🔥🔥🔥
Jett is possessive, obsessive, filthy and completely unhinged, and honestly… this man needs several business days to calm the fuck down. 😂
“I have wanted you since the moment I laid eyes on you…”
And Mia giving him just as much attitude? YES MA’AM. 👏🏻
“Do you want me more than you want drugs, Jett? Because that’s the cost.”
THAT LINE.
That fucking LINE. 💔
And the spice? 🥵🔥
“Filthy things, Angel.”
“Good. I like filthy things.”
UM. EXCUSE ME WHILE I NEED A FAN. 🫠🔥
Their chemistry is absolutely feral, but underneath all that heat is two incredibly damaged people trying to figure out whether they can love each other without destroying each other.
And this quote? Straight through the chest.
“You’re mine now and that means all of you. The light parts and the dark ones.” 😭🖤
This story took me through heartbreak, rage, frustration, hope, lust and every possible emotional crisis in between.
I laughed. I hurt. I wanted to shake Jett. I wanted to hug Mia. I absolutely lost my mind over the spice. 🥵
And somehow Chelle managed to make addiction one of the most powerful parts of the story while still giving us the filthy, obsessive romance I came for. Chelle… you magnificent, slightly terrifying woman.
You broke my heart AND fried my ovaries.
Rude. Absolutely fucking rude. 😂🖤
4.5⭐️ | 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
⚠️ PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. This is a heavy story dealing with addiction, trauma and other difficult themes. It’s raw, painful and not going to be for everyone but if you can take the journey?
*While this book can be read as a standalone, you will definitely get more out of book two by reading ‘Dark Notes: Volume One’ where Jett Black and Mia Montgomery’s stories are first introduced.*
Mia was a supermodel sensation living the glamorous life, until a secret from her past comes crashing back, causing her to spiral and hide away from the world, falling out of the limelight and garnering negative press, the loss of her career and everything she’d worked for.
Jett is a rockstar with his own secrets and trauma, choosing to loose himself in his addictions, as he tries to find some peace from the agonizing memories of his own tragic past. And while he struggles with his demons daily, Jett can’t deny his feelings for Mia and how, from the first moment they met 6 years prior, he has been trying to convince her to give him a chance. The only problem… she won’t date him unless he gives up the drugs and gets clean. If he wants her bad enough, it should be simple right? Not for Jett who doesn’t really see what the problem is. He’s a rockstar after all and plays the stereotypical part well.
This story was brutally beautiful as we get a full glimpse of what addiction does to someone, the mental issues people deal with, and the things they do to try and escape those dark intrusive thoughts. Definitely not a typical rockstar romance, so be prepared to delve into a world of darkness, pain, childhood trauma, self-destruction and more. Make sure you read those trigger warnings (they’re there for a reason) because this story gets DEEP!! Chelle doesn’t hold back any punches as she drops our emotions down into a dark hole, stirs things up a bit, sprinkles in lots of spice, and then pulls us back out with a HEA. *whew* Had me feeling all the feels towards these characters and I loved every single page of it, I could barely put it down. So buckle up, get your tissues, stay hydrated, and prepare to immerse yourself in this incredible story about the pain, love and redemption between Jett and Mia… you will not regret it!!
Now before I write my review I need to warn you this book contains graphic contents such as *rug ab*se! DO NOT READ!! this is triggering you were warned.
Wow what a book honestly this is the most gripping but heartwrenching book i have read this year and chelle did not disappoint I loved book 1 but book 2 absolutely smashes it out the park for me. Mia has her own struggles with her weight and how she feels shes fat and she belittles her self massively as she believes shes not good enough because her modeling career said so. Jett what can I say jett is a rockstar and he lives up to the name s*x, *rugs, rock and roll. But deep down jett has so much trauma he has never worked through and his past is catching up to him massively hes losing control. Jett uses to keep for being sick from withdrawing from the *rugs but he takes it too far by OD'ing twice in a short amount of time its either he gets sober now and fights to live just like his friends want or he faces his trauma head on and fight for his angel. Mia gets in to a situation which could make jett spiral only time will tell if he will cope and manage to hold on and fight the addiction.
This Duet was the best Duet ive read in a while both dark notes vol 1 and vol 2 had me hooked and im so glad I got to read them both
Mia is a former supermodel who has been out of the spotlight for a little while. However, she was never far from Jett’s mind. He fell in love with her the moment he saw her. Due to his playboy ways, Mia rejected him repeatedly until finally giving into him.
This novel is so much more than a beautiful love story. It is a very dark romance. Each character has a traumatic past and deals with mental health challenges and addiction. I love how this author addresses these issues and the real-life struggles that are faced every day by so many people. She writes in such a way that makes the characters relatable and also for the reader to get invested in their lives.
The spice for this story is off the charts. Jett is one hundred percent invested in proving to Mia that not only does he love her, but he worships her body as well. He aims to convince her of how beautiful she is both inside and out.
There are some difficult scenes in this story. I honestly shed several tears during my reading journey. I recommend having a box of tissues nearby but also advise to power through the tough scenes. It will be worth it in the end.
I recommend this novel for mature audiences only due to sexual content and violence.
I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
You have a Rockstar and the Super Model. But, this is Not the regular Fairytale book! This IS Better 🥀🖤
⚠️ PLEASE Check Trigger Warnings ‼️
I had to give myself Extra time to read this in its entirety. I Am So Glad I Did!! It was Worth every page, every word.
I Understand Addiction.. I lost someone Very Important, Very Special to My Heart (9/22/22) 💔😔 that kind of Pain, Never Stops.. Never Goes Away. Reading Jett’s struggles with addiction and anger, brought Many Painful Memories back. I Know Body Shame.. I Struggled with weight as a young girl/teen and still do. I could feel Mia’s shame, unworthiness and the burden of Not being Enough - all over again.
Jett ♥️🎹 has wanted to be with Mia for 6yrs. But Mia knows, too well, what addiction does.
Mia 💞✨ is Not Happy with her appearance anymore. Jett Doesn’t Care, He Wants ALL of her!
Can Jett & Mia find happiness ?
This book Is.. Devastatingly Honest - Absolutely Brutal @chelle writes from within, speaking truths and it Is Heartbreaking 💔 you will not be the same after reading this. And that’s okay..
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book went in depth about some very common topics when it comes to Supermodel/Rockstar life. Personal image and addiction are things you hear alot about when it comes to the famous. However I felt like this fell a bit flat when going into the characters mindset and how they were dealing with these issues.
The timeline of events honestly did not make sense at times, and wasn't consistent with what had been said in previous chapters. As well as the mindset changes for Jett and Mia when it came to them overcoming their issues felt super sudden and not realistic for what was being portrayed.
I feel like this had good potential to dive in to these issues and shed more light on what people go through, but I think for the length of the book it just didn't work out.
Even those of us with Demons deserve to be loved. Some days are hard, nearly impossible. Today the skies may be gray, but tomorrow will almost always be better. This is how I live my life. One day at a time.
The ending of jett's letter to his younger self was amazing. That just goes to show you that even if you're an addict and you put in the work to stay clean there is hope. You just have to want it bad enough. This book was raw and messy and emotional. Both characters came from horrible childhoods. But together they overcame their past and didn't give up. This was beautifully written and depicted addiction from both sides. It didn't just show the addicts pov but also showed how loved ones are also affected by addiction. There is hope for better days you just have to take one day at a time .
Arc review and these are my own thoughts and feelings
First let me say...please read the trigger warnings...your mental health matters
This book was tough...a much tougher read than Volume One. Chelle is an amazing writer who doesn't pull away from writing the hard truths. This book basically tore me up. Jett and Mia's story is tragic, heartbreaking and most likely accurate. That being said it's also a story that needs to be told and one I highly recommend. There are no spoilers here...just a definite 5 ⭐️ read filled with pain, love, anger, loss and redemption.
This was an emotional ride. The beginning felt like it was lightening speed, but since we got the story started in Volume One, and this Volume revolves around a drug addict, it makes sense. This book is darker than Volume One in some ways but Volume One hit me harder since I could relate more to McKinley personally. Based on the afterward, I know that a lot of people will resonate more with Jett and/or Mia so be sure to check your triggers and only read this is you're in the headspace to do so. This book is so profound and I was here for every second of it.
Dark Notes Volume Two did not disappoint! Mia and Jett's story was one of my favorites so far! The ups and downs really pulled me into their world. Chemistry between these characters was phenomenal. I enjoyed the plot and all its twists. Would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading about a a hot as hell guy chasing after the girl he wants. The music is an added bonus!
Following up on Jagger and Mckinley was also an added bonus as well. Happy to see these characters make an appearance in volume two. Thanks Chelle for writing another amazing story!
This was deep read. Mia and Jett both battling their own demons.
Jett has want Mia since he first met her, but Mia would never be with him because he is an addict. Alot goes on, can't say too much with spoiling it all. But while Jett battles his demons, Mia has her own personal demons. Once supermodel, that has gain some weight, and now measures her worth by her waist size.
This deals with some hard topics, and please read the trigger warnings. I flew through this, could not put it down, I needed to know how it all went. Really good read.
Jett has loved Mia from the very beginning. He’s an addict. Mia was a super model but is very self conscious of her body. Jett? Oh he loves that! Mia won’t be with Jett until he sobers up. Is she enough for him to sober up for?
Her best friend doesn’t like it. Neither does his. They can’t stop them though.
This book has a mix of emotions for me. Please check your trigger warnings before reading. Jett is the rockstar I never knew I wanted!
I really enjoyed this book. More than I thought I would given the subjects it's covers. I liked how she had her boundaries and he wasn't giving up. It has it all. Ups and downs. I got rather angry at the MMC at one point and felt sorry for the FMC, but it was all cleared up. So fantasticly written. The plot is good and the characters are relatable and loveable. The spice was amazing as you expect. A nice book in the series, can't wait for the next one.
Mias supermodel life gets turned upside down and she loses everything, shutting herself away and creating a world she felt safe in then theres Jett, hes wanted her for 6 years, but she wont give him a chance until hes clean, only he doesnt see a problem, except that Mias not his. This story is high on emotions, trauma, deisres, obssession and holds your attention through out and more!
Holy heck that was one wild ride and loved every second of it. My heart breaks for what Jett and Mia went through when they were younger. As hard has it was to read in parts this book was worth it. The ups and downs, twists and turns. Jett steals your heart with his honesty about himself and his addiction. Mia pulls you in because you want to know what made her who she is today.
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. I love Chelle’s twisted style of writing. This book literally is an emotional ride. Mia and Jett’s story is complicated. Watching Jett struggle with addiction and anger really struck me. The way Chelle writes you really get invested in the story. Was a great read for me.
What a book and in my favorite genre, rockstar. This spicy novel was very deep and the childhoods that Mia and Jett had were despicable. And they came together because of it. All I can say is READ THIS BOOK. Thank you BookSirens for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
