Their journey began with a promise…

“I won’t let you fall. You will not die for me. I can’t live with that, Xander, and I would rather let them take me before I let them kill you.” He opened his mouth to argue, but I held up my hand. “Don’t argue it. There’s no point. I’ve made up my mind.”
He shook his head, but didn’t argue. Instead, he promised as he always did, “If anything happens to you… if we get separated, if you martyr yourself… anything, Skye. As long as I am breathing, I will always find you. Always.”
Those were precisely the words I’d counted on him saying.

AN ORPHAN with no memory of her past and no hope for her future.
A GUARDIAN determined to keep her safe.
A DESTINY neither of them expected.

Blog Tour Post: The Shadow Realm

This was a very enjoyable read. Filled with action and romance it had me hooked from the very first page.
I really liked the characters. Although Skye has been through a lot she is still fighting on, even if she does spend most of her nights drinking her sorrows away. I liked her reaction when Xander first explained everything to her. It was realistic. She didn't just straight away believe him but I still think she gave in too quickly. Xander I loved. He is so loyal and protective of Skye. Their love is forbidden and they know it will never work but they can't fight their feelings for one another. I loved the back-story behind how Xander knew Skye. I thought that justified the somewhat insta-love. The story is told in dual POV so I really liked getting both Xander's and Skye's side of things.
There is plenty of action and suspense that will keep the reader engaged in the story and there are plenty of twists and turns too. The story was kept moving and never lagged behind.
Be warned. There is a mahoosive cliffhanger at the end! At first I didn't quite believe that that was the end. I kept turning the pages on my kindle looking for another page but nope. Now I can't wait for the second book to find out what the frick happened!
A thoroughly exciting and engaging read.

I was truly honored by the opportunity to read this Beta version of Never Let You Fall, and to give the author my input and edits before its release. I met Michele here on Goodreads and have developed an on line friendship with her. With that said, here is my 100% honest to goodness review of her debute novel.

Spectacular!!!!!!!

I could not get these chapters fast enough. I kept stalling...waiting for the next set to be ready...kept telling myself to read slower, slower...I received it in bits and pieces in about a month's time...torture! I plan on re-reading in its entirety again once it's released and is safely stored on my Nook with its pretty cover and everything!

There are so many layers to this story. So many new and interesting things happening. Michele presents it in such a manner that I question whether or not this is really the first book she's ever written...hmmm....secret identity????

Love, loss, hope, witches, (do not click on the spoiler if you don't want to know too much!!!!!) ....oh it's all in this story, and you're going to love it!! I know I did!!

Skye lost her parents 10 years ago but doesn't remember them or much of how it happened; only what bits the police were able to tell her. And it wasn't much. Since then she has been living in group homes because no one wants a little girl whose past is surrounded by such grief and is plagued with nightmares.

When she meets Xander her hopeless life seems to fall into line. Finally she feels at peace even though her life is anything but. When she is with him she doesn't fear the dreams. She doesn't fear her uncertain future...her life seems to make a little bit of sense.

I was really taken with this story. I enjoy books that deal with parallel universes and other dimensions. Especially when they cross over to a simpler time. But I felt the first of the story was a bit too rushed. It would have been nicer to get to know some of the characters in the beginning before being thrown into a whirl wind of a story.

Once the journey takes them to over to the new dimension, the story seems to take off from there and things really get interesting. I would be sitting, wondering about these characters when I wasn't with them. What was going on with the dreams? Can they really trust certain people? Will Xander and Skye be able to be together?

I adored Xander and his love for Skye. You can tell he loves her so much, even if it isn't supposed to be. Skye wasn't too bad a character herself. I really was expecting a more high maintenance, drama queen after the way the books started. But I was happy to see she wasn't that way at all. I guess you can take the girl out of Tyalbrook but you can't take Tyalbrook out of the girl.

All in all, this was a great read that kept my interest and had me pulled in from the beginning. Not to mention the romance was spot on. I look forward to reading book 2, NEVER LET YOU GO, and seeing what happened with Skye.

Fav lines...

I'd never wanted anything like I wanted Xander. I wanted to stay by his side forever. The feelings I got when he was near, the tingling warmth in my heart, in my chest...my whole body sang when he was near. That couldn't be nothing. It couldn't be just gratitude.

***

I fell asleep with the taste of his lips still on mine.

Fantasy books normally aren't my cup of tea, but I couldn't put this one down. With characters that you fall in love with and a page turning plot line, Never Let You Fall has easily become one of my favorites.

I loved the fact that I didn't have to wait for the action. It wasn't one of those books that just gave loads of backstory for many chapters before something exciting happens. This book pushes you into the story and captures you until you reach 'the end'. It keeps you guessing and gives bits and pieces of the story to keep your interest along the way.

One of my favorite things about this book was the heroine, Skye. In a way, she is thrown into this new world right before she reaches 18 and her life changes, again. She has a terrible past and now has to deal with this new future. I like that she is skeptical of it at first. It makes her relatable and real. She is a little nervous and fearful but on the other hand she is extremely brave and kick-butt. She embraces her new destiny and I loved reading her take on this new life!

Xander...sigh... is my new book boyfriend. He is protective, supportive, and loving toward Skye. He reassures her through all these new life changes and is by her side the whole way. Seriously you can't help but fall for him! I really loved the connection between Skye and Xander throughout the book. The romance was SWOOOOON worthy and kept it YA.

It's hard to say too much without giving away spoilers so I will just leave it at there. What more can you ask for from a book than great characters, a great story, and a great new world to get lost in. If Fantasy/Paranormal Romance is your thing then I definitely recommend that you get Never Let You Fall!

Okay and just because I had to add a little bit of fan-girling here is a teaser pic I made for Never Let You Fall!

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!!!!! >_<

description

I knew it! I just knew it! Soon as it was nearing the end I knew something was up there wasn't enough room for what was to happen. AL;SDKFJOAJ.

There should be a warning for these types of things. Like, Warning: This book will make you want to throw something, anything. So keep pointy objects and everything not properly tied down away when you get to near the ending of the book.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

So my strong reactions to this book should be a big hint that I loved this book. I liked that there was many layers, conflicts and secrets to keep me hooked. I loved that it was fast paced.

I loved that there was two point of views to the story. It helped me get a deeper connection to the characters and get what's going on with them. I liked how strong Skye was strong, and willing to put herself over others. I liked how when she got a message about everything she tried her best to understand and adapt to what's being told her her. I think she would've made a great leader in the story because shes been through hard times and will learn from her troubles to be a greater and more understanding person.

This is one of those books that will grab onto you and hold on till the end.

Highly Recommend!

Blurb

Orphaned at 7, with no memory of her past or the family she lost, 17 year old Skye Martin is tired of being alone and afraid. After a hard night of partying, Skye wakes up alone in an unfamiliar hotel. All she can remember is the deep voice of her rescuer and his promise: “I am safe.”

Xander has been tasked with watching Skye from afar for the past two years, in order to keep her safe from the demons that hunt her. An easy job - until a pair of red glowing eyes reveal themselves to Skye, and Xander, in a moment of weakness, is forced to break his cover to protect her. Never good at trusting people, Skye is inexplicably drawn to Xander and the immediate bond she feels for him. However, Xander is filled with secrets and ties to her past that threaten to thrust Skye into a world she could never imagine existed…

As she begins to unravel the truth about who Xander is and the details surrounding her family, she discovers that she might just be the key to saving everything... And, most importantly, she finds that there has always been someone by her side who would never let her fall…

Excerpt #4

Rioden bowed his head my way and told us to hurry up as he stepped out of the hotel room. Xander came up from behind me and smiled his beautiful smile of encouragement at me.

“You okay?”

“Um, yeah, I think so. I mean, that’s a lot of information to put on a girl, you know?” I teased half heartedly.

He reached his hand up to my face and touched my cheek briefly, before pushing a strand of hair out of my eyes and gently tucking it behind my ear.

“You're not a girl - you're a Princess, remember? You are so much stronger than you know. You’ll see.”

Stepping back, he opened the door for me and his eyes twinkled as he added, “Come on Princess, let’s go eat.”

I started to walk by him stoically, like he hadn't said anything, and then my fist darted out and knocked him in the gut as I continued on out the door. Grasping his stomach as he shut the door behind me he groaned, “See? I said you were stronger than you knew!”

Our Review

Wow ! What a fantastic read just loved it could not put the book down what a page turner this story was.Michelle G Miller is a new author for me and I have to say she didn't disappoint.I love it when I find new authors to read and fall absolutely in love with there works and writing. If Michelle continues to write stories like this she will be among my top favorite authors.

What a great cast of character's I love them all found them all to be loving caring respectful and a times a lot of fun to read about they all were so engaging that they kept you turning the pages to see just what would happen next.

You always have to have one favorite character and Xander would have to be mine. That hot Guardian bordered on being a saint ! That hottie makes a girls blood boil.I was In love with him from the very first pages what a considerate loving and caring individual and also one heck of a protector.Wish he were mine...LOL

Xander was chosen to be Skye's Guardian and has been watching over her for many years but, one fateful night he finally broke a rule and showed himself to her creating a whole slew of new problems for them both.Skye is a bit of a mess growing up in a group homes all her life and feeling so alone has driven her to partying to much and to make one bad decision after another until she meets Xander when her life is about to change . Whether its for the better is anyone's guess....

Xander has been chosen to be a Guardian to Skye's for a purpose as she really is a princess from another dimension and now in line to be Queen of her own realm. The kicker is she knows nothing of this and thinks everyone around her is crazy until a batch of demons try to dispense with her.Now she is starting to believe little by little. With no reconciliation of her past life she needs to put her trust in Xander to learn of her past and carve out a future whatever that may be.

Xander and Skye have a past although she does not remember him she has a strong bond and feels safe only when he is around. The two have a great relationship once Skye learns to trust and open up she starts to remember what they meant to each other and they start to rebuild there connection .Xander is in love even knowing it is forbidden he can't seem to not act on his feeling around Skye and Skye feels the same way towards him.So why not indulge there selves .....

Your heart breaks for this couple knowing that there relationship is doomed from the very beginning and even if it were not because of the forbidden laws those enemies among them will do everything to become between them.I am rooting for them they make a beautiful couple both loving loyal and caring and just perfect for one another.

The story that surrounds the lovers is filled will tons of danger that is lurking at every corner. Keeping you on the seat of your pants just to see what happens next. The story was filled will love and romance and intrigue all the things that I love when reading a story. It was amazing to see Skye grow and become that strong confident person she always wanted to be. She blossomed right before our eyes.

Wow ! What a ending ! Can you say cliffhanger ? OMG ! I did not want the story to end.I am anxiously awaiting the next sequel. Can you say ?Sitting on pins and needle is more like it.A wonderful and cleverly written story and a recommend read to all whether young or old it needs to be in your to read pile.

You know you have written a fantastic story when the reader finishes the story and then goes back to re-read there favorite parts not wanting to let go quite yet. Into the keeper pile and will be a must re-read in the near future. We are giving this story a 5 star read !

At a Glance/The Cover:
I don't really know what I expected from this book. My feelings changed throughout the whole book. When I first put it into my hands, I wanted this book to be a modern contemporary romance kind of book, since it took place in this era. I was annoyed to discover magic and demons. I like magic and paranormal books but I really don't like them mixing. Like mixing blood with oil. Ummmm. That just sounds disgusting. LOL.

But when Xander and Skye actually got to the magical land, the other dimension called Tycobol? Omfg. I just finished this book like seconds ago. And I can't even remember the name. Seriously. Ugh. And I"m LAZY. So sorry for not searching it up. I found out I really loved the magic and demons. Because in this land, it was more of a medieval setting. I really love medieval settings, even better than dystopian! The idea of a king and a queen is just so intriguing. I love the royalties and stuff. And the authority they have. And the hot knights. LOL. Where had that come from?

The Characters/Mini Summaries:
Skye - Skye lived as an orphan in the modern era. Her parents died in a horrible fire explosion when she was seven. And she has no memories of it. To make matters worse, she have terrible nightmares of demons chasing her. For ten years, Skye lived in a group home, no one adopting her, feeling lonely. And all.

That definitely changed when she was out partying one night and got really drunk. That wonderful knight in a shining armor came out. Of course, it didn't happen like that. Skye thought he was crazy telling her about these ummm.....awkward unreal things. But eventually, Skye accepted what Xander and Riorden said. I think Riorden's name is spelled that way. Gee. Yay for my bad memory. Again.

I think Princess Skye sounds really pretty. ;D

Xander - Okay. So Xander. I really liked how the author described him. We know he has abs, but Michele didn't say, 'his rock hard abs' or 'chiseled chest'. I feel like a pedo when I think that. Michele simply said, in Skye's POV, of course, 'he could model for Calvin Klein underwear. That way, I don't have to think and try to imagine abs. LOL. I'll just think, 'ohhh, so he's good looking.' And end it there. Because I am definitely not a pedo. LOL. As far as I can tell. I mean, I stalk celebrities okay? But that's it!

If you haven't guessed already, Xander is the knight in the shining armor. He had actually known Skye since they were like kids, like age 4.... but Skye lost her memory, and he can't exactly tell her everything in one heartbeat. 'It's really hard to explain.' I don't think he said the exact same words, but something like that. You get the idea.

Since you read up there, from the blurb, Skye doesn't trust anyone, I'm glad to tell, Skye does trust Xander. And soon, their trust for each other turned to heart thumping every time they're near each other. Yeah. There's definitely romance. But they are like, so freakin cute. Omg. LOL. I just have to swoon and fangirl over their relationship. I really liked how this is a strictly young adult read, but can still make your fingers tingle and your heart beat. It's so cute. And there's no nasty details in bed. But they have cute ass hugging and kissing in bed. LOL. Nothing happened any farther. Cuz the princess can't loose her virtue.

Riorden - Okay. I think Xander's uncle deserved a part. I don't want to reveal everything, but Riorden I really think that's not how you spell his name but oh well. raised Xander up. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention Xander is a guardian. And so is Riorden. But I think you know already. Riorden played a key part in Xander and even Skye's life. Or at that ten years.

Selene - To make things less complicated. Selene is the sorcerer's daughter and she helped guide Xander and Skye to the Tycalbol land thing. No questions. I'm too lazy to explain.

The Final Thoughts:
Let's just say, this was a really entertaining medieval read. I just love medieval settings. Guys.

The ending was a cliffhanger. Thank god, it wasn't a dying one. I meant the one where I feel like dying if I don't find the next book soon. Because if it was, I'll spend my precious next ten hours trying to search up information instead of doing this tour. And that's bad.

I must say, this was one amazing debut novel! :3

KK.

The Rating:
<3 (1-10): 8.9~9.
Okay. Can't decide. It's leaning really close to that nine.

Just like in real life, the concept "first impressions matter the most," apply to the book world too. To me (as we all know) covers tend to be a BIG player in how "excited" about the book I get. Honestly, I will change my reading list solely based on a cover. Sad but true. I loved Never Let You Fall's cover. Everything about it and combined with the blurb (another slice of perfection) had me counting down the days until I was able to dive in. Another area first impressions are key in books, is when a reader is introduced to the character's for the first time.

**Loved Skye from the inside out and and truly appreciated such a refreshing leading lady**

Skye is thrown onto a path she never expected and into a world she never considered and I enjoyed everything about her journey. She was so realistic and NOT a goody goody, which is a common theme in YA books. That for me, made Skye that much more realistic and enabled Michelle to capture my heart and attention within the first few chapters. Her partying habits are just a way cope with feelings she hasn't accepted yet, things she doesn't understand. And when she learns about what she must do, she questions it (like MOST people would do) and allows herself time to adjust. Even with Xander backing her up and protecting her, Skye manages to still be strong and learn to fight for herself and her destiny. I love her. She was unique to the YA genre and definitely raised the bar in my opinion.

"He didn't relax his stance, and he didn't say a word. He just let me wrap myself around him."
-Skye

**Yeah, you just need to read Never Let You Fall so you can feel the fireworks and chemistry between Xander and Skye**

Xander is everything you could want and desire. His love for Skye even when things get complicated for her and exciting twisty things happen (like that vagueness-no spoilers. You know my rules) made my heart melt. The entire book had my heart melting and feeling like it was in a pair of vice grips. I had to re-read some of the dialogue and moments of reflection just so I could feel the impact again. Michelle inserted those "heart wrenching, hold your breath, squeal for joy at the sound of those words" moments in the perfect places! The relationship between all the characters are balanced so well and really strengthen the plot line of the story. I cannot wait for book two so I can hopefully catch another peek at a couple of the supporting characters.

**Never Let You Fall has some of the best scenes/moments I have read this year! I could feel Skye and Xander's emotions like they were actually tangible**

This is not all Romance either! The plot starts from the very beginning, you're dropped into the action right along with Skye and Michelle wastes no time getting things stared. She did an amazing job developing the plot and throwing in twists and adrenaline pumping moments where needed. The story kept me turning the pages and refusing to do homework. I could not stop. When it ended I was so sad, like epic status sad for two reasons.

A. Never Let You Fall ends, it just ends on a SUPER pivotal plot moment, I am not being dramatic. Even though it was an amazing ending and I can totally understand why it ended there...the book nerd in me was a little peeved. So Michelle if you happen to read this, feel free so send me what would be "the next chapter." B. The other reason I was mad was because it ended. At some point in the middle of the night, my kindle said 99% and no matter how much I shouted in my head "No." I need book two now. Please. I can't wait to delve into book 2 and see how the ending of Never Let You Fall turns out. Plus there's a couple characters I'm not positive or confident where their loyalties lie and for me, that was just another stroke of genius for Michelle.

Skye has had a pretty hard life. A life that she has tried to drink away on more than one occasion. One night as she tries to drink herself into oblivion someone steps up to save her. The mysterious stranger promises her she is safe and for once in her life she chooses to trust. But with the appearance of this mysterious man brings revelations about her past and who she is that she may not be ready to handle. Skye will learn there is more to her and the world than meets the eye. As the truth of who she is, what she is, and what is at stake Skye agrees to travel to a different dimension where she will have to face her past, her prophecy and her future.

Skye is the girl that you can't help but feel sorry for. She has had a pretty messed up life. Losing her parents at a young age along with any memories that she had of them she found herself in the system. Prey to the brutal life of watching other children find loving homes while no one seemed to want her, Skye has lived a loveless life and you can't help but feel for her. As she drinks her world away hoping to disappear to oblivion she truly wants nothing more than to be loved. To know that someone will be there for her and will take care of her. Really she wants what all girls want. Love.

Enter Xander, the almost literal knight in shining armor that sweeps in and rescues Skye from her attempts at drinking her life away. From the minute he graces the page I knew I was going to like him. As he takes care of her you discover that there is definitely more to this guy than some random stranger. As you hear him profess his inner struggles you begin to wonder just who this guy really is and when you find out it sort of sends your heart a flutter. Well at least it did mine. I am a hopeless romantic and this story just played right to my feelings of love.

Speaking of the story. The story of Never Let You Fall is definitely one that will speak to hopeless romantics. I love the honesty and openness of Xander as he openly bares his soul time and time again to a girl that he has been forced to love from afar. However much I admired his love for her, I was a little bothered by the quick feelings that Skye had for him. I understand where Xander is coming from and know that it has been there his entire life, but I couldn't help but question Skye's feelings towards Xander throughout the story.

Part of Never Let You Fall takes place in another dimension. The dimension of Tyalbrook a land of old that literally transports you to a time of things more simple, the days of Kings and Queens. I enjoyed the adventure that was streamed throughout this book, I loved the prophecy and how things played out. I have to say that the ending that Michel G. Miller gave us definitely left me questioning and reeling as the truth of what happened has yet to be discovered. Naturally we will have to wait until book 2 to discover the rest of these little secrets!!! I for one am so there.

Never Let You Fall was a fun adventure full of love, action, magic, secrets and prophecy that will hook you from the second you open the book. It is a quick read and it is very easy to get lost in the love that is so easily told in this story!

When this beautiful little ARC showed up in my e-mail for me to read I about jumped through the roof. I had been waiting to get my paws on it since I first got a tiny taste and I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning trying to finish because I just HAD to know what happened.

One thing that really stood out to me was Michele's attention to details. There's a lot going on and you end up being thrown into a new world along with Skye, trying to soak up a whole lot of information that is hard to swallow at times. But never once was I confused. I actually felt like I was one step ahead of Skye because the descriptive way that the words are written made everything seem so real. There was even a few times I started to wish I lived in Tyalbrook because it truly sounds magical and way cooler than where I am!

SPOILERS. SPOILERS. SPOILERS.
THE NEXT PART IS A SPOILER ALERT.

When I finished, I found myself wanting more. I kept flicking the screen because I knew it couldn't be over. I had to know what happened next. I'm going to be stalking the heck out of Michele to find out. If you want to read a pure-hearted love story with lots of adventure and a paranormal twist, this book is for me! You will be left hanging on every word while you're send through a journey into a new and enchanted world!

First, I would like to say that I absolutely LOVE Michele! She is such an awesome person and if you ever need recommendations for a good book to read… ask her (I bug her on twitter all the time!) She has never EVER let me down before. However, regardless of my feelings toward her this review is 100% unbiased and is based strictly on the book.

I love Fantasy books… this is a fact that I wasn’t even aware of until I started Paperbook Princess and had the opportunity to read The Dusk Gate Chronicles by Breeana Puttroff and The Gateway Chronicles’ by K.B. Hoyle (both FANTASTIC series btw) So when I realized that Chele’s book was YA fantasy that borders on New Adult (my new favorite type of book) I was super ecstatic!

Never Let you Fall introduces us to so many characters that I cant WAIT to get to know better! First we meet Skye who has had a tough life, and the worst part? She doesn’t remember anything about her family or her life before she was put in an orphanage... so as typical kids in her situation do… she acts out by drinking herself stupid.

Then there is Xander… I could go on and on about him forever but I shall hold my tongue as much as possible and save all my love for Sunday’s edition of the Swoon-o-Meter… but I must share a bit about him with you… Xander is gorgeous and loyal and brave and sweet and and and… yea like I said I can go on forever! But basically he watches Skye from afar and keeps her out of trouble without her knowing he is even there.

Their relationship is kinda tragic, and I really felt bad for both of them because she has always wanted someone to care… and he has always been there caring for her from a distance… tragic right?

Then there is Rioden and Selene, Rioden is a gruff guy, but I think deep down he is also really sweet and he obviously thinks of Xander as his son and only wants the best for Skye. Selene… hmmm… I don’t like her or trust her… there I said it… I hope everyone else agrees with me! I think she is hiding something MAJOR and I just don’t like her plain and simple!

There are so many more characters I could go on about but those are in my opinion the main four that we get to know the most in Never Let You Fall. Oh and that title? You HAVE to read the book just to find out where that title comes from to begin with! It is such a sweet cute story and when the glimpse from the past is told I almost swooned because well Xander… *sigh* he was sweet even as a little kid!

If you haven’t read this book yet you are totally missing out, trust me! This book needs to be read asap! Oh and Chele totally needs to WRITE FASTER! That ending? Seriously? So mean!

See original post Here!!

Drinking herself into oblivion had become an almost daily event for 17 year old Skye Martin. Living with her best friend after ten years of staying in group homes Skye’s life has taken a turn for the worst. When one drunken night leaves to Skye waking up in a strange hotel with a smoking hot guy Skye is extremely confused.

Xander couldn’t take it anymore, watching Syke’s life spiral downward for the last two years since he lost her has been torture. When he finds her face down in the mud he decides it’s time to step in. Going against the rules he takes her to the hotel to clean her up and explain her destiny to her.

While Skye has never been one to trust people immediately after Xander asks her to trust him she finds herself saying yes. The trust in Xander begins leading to other emotions and feelings, feelings that are against everything Xander has been told to do, and against his duty as her Guardian.

When Skye woke up the morning after Xander saved her she never expected to be told she’s from another dimension where she has a huge destiny to fulfill and is a Princess a freaking Princess who everyone will stop at nothing to get their hands on for their own and use to gain leadership over Skye’s homeland.

Setting off to begin their journey of taking back the Kingdom Xander and Skye rely more and more on each other and meet some unexpected friends. Skye now knowing the threat and risk she puts on everyone she knows and loves she knows she must make some hard decisions in the times ahead.

Well I have to say I really enjoyed Never Let You Fall which the title is explained thoroughly throughout the book and I absolutely loved the meaning behind it. I really love Xander who is strong, sexy, and yet completely vulnerable when it comes to Skye. Skye while she doesn’t realize it is a completely amazing and strong character with a heart of gold. The whole story is filled with mythical creatures, ye old English, and an amazing love story that I hope will prevail in the end. I cannot wait for the second book for Michelle Miller did an amazing job writing this story and I know readers will really enjoy Never Let You Fall for its strong willed characters and uniquely magical land.

Michelle G. Miller wrote an amazing story with Never Let You Fall. As you all know, I just recently got into the fantasy novels. I am a hardcore Romantic Suspense reader. I have to say though, I am glad that I am branching out – otherwise, I would have missed this amazing novel! This one actually managed to make my favorites list! My favorite thing about this book – was it was packed with never ending! It was a TON of boring character profiles or back stories that just seemed to drag on and on. It literally jumped right into the awesome and kept right on going all the way to the end!

Skye is something else altogether.. Like the rest of us, we have trust issues. On the other hand, hers have come to her naturally. After all, if I were her, I would have some serious trust issues also! She’s facing down a life that most could only DREAM of.. Seriously; it’s the stuff made of some serious medication induced dreams & this chick isn’t even technically classified as an “adult”! I LOVE that she doesn’t just shrug her shoulders and go “oh well, lets kick some butt,” but she actually struggles and falls and gets back up. It’s a progress of her understanding and accepting AND THEN deciding to take on the world. Seriously; it was epic. I’d totally want a best friend like her!

Xander.. Oh goodness.. His name alone sums up everything I want to sit here and type about him! I know we all go through book boyfriends like it’s NOTHING – but this dude just topped my list. & that is NOT something easy to do! He’s loyal as crap, very protective, easy on the eyes & despite the Alpha male thing he has going on – his sensitivity (where Skye is concerned) shows through quite often! He is her savior through everything she’s going through. He is the one steady that seems to be a constant in her ever changing life. The connection between the two was seriously a joy to read about! I loved that it was a progress and not instant! It was also wonderfully written!

All in all; this book is one that you just MUST read! I refuse to go on and on about it, because then it just gives away the book & then there is no point in you reading it. Which means you miss out on the EPIC that is, Never Let You Fall!

Skye Martin is an orphan growing up alone in the system. But she isn’t ordinary. She has a history, only she cannot remember it. All her memories of the night her parents dies and before that are lost to her. The only way she can now cope with her life is to get drunk enough to loose her conscience. Xander is responsible for watching over her and keep her safe from anything human or inhuman that may try to snatch her. And for the last two years he had been watching her from afar – drowning her sorrows in bottles. But these two youngsters share a certain bond that cannot be explained easily. When a demon comes too close to Skye, Xander decides that it is time to reveal her true identity to Skye.

Skye is a strong girl. She is sceptic at first, which is a very natural reaction, but soon she learns to trust Xander as he reveals layers of secrets to her. She is scared and she is nervous, but at the same time she is determined to do the right thing. Xander on the other hand has been trained to be her guardian. Even with all the lessons and warnings, he can’t help but fall for her. He is strong and protective and I, on his behalf, wished that Skye she could have her memory back so that she would remember him the way he remembered and cared for her. There were only a couple of other characters whose role in the first novel is well fleshed out and though I am in two minds about one of them, I like the character of Xander’s uncle.

With the number of fantasy books available in the market, it is really different to come up with something completely new and untold. But Michele has expertly mixed something new in the very formulistic storyline. I liked the way she has portrayed the bond between the two and also the concept of magic portals. The book ends with a huge cliff hanger that makes me wanna go and bang on the authors door and demand to know what happened next. Good thing we are on two different continents right now! I am seriously looking forward to the second instalment because I have a feeling that there are still a lot of secrets that are yet to be revealed and there’s no way am I going to miss them out.

I have to say off the bat that I am a closet paranormal romance junkie. Paranormal romance is by far one of my favorite genre's to read. Never Let you Fall by Michele G. Miller was the perfect paranormal romance read for me. I wasn't sure what to expect from the book. In all honesty it blew me away. I loved this story and the way all the characters were bonded together. I enjoyed the overall mystery of the book. I was intrigued to learn more about the magical world that we are introduced to in the book.

So Skye has thought since the age of seven that she was orphaned and alone. Her life has been full of so much sadness. Until she is rescued by Xander a stranger who feels so familiar to her. She can't deny the pull she has towards him. She learns that he is her guardian and has sworn to keep her safe. That is exactly how he makes her feel. As their relationship progresses she learns that she is part of a magical world that she could of never imagined existed. She is the key to saving a word she knows nothing about.

I fell a lot in love with this story. Xander with an X not a Z is pretty wonderful and has these unkempt feelings towards Skye who is just as wonderful. She can't remember him, but he has never forgotten her. He knows she is destined for so much more and that caring so deeply for her may be the one thing to break him. Skye knows she can trust Xander and that she does. They are a team and together she knows they can get through anything together. They really learn so much together and are both forced to make decisions they are not ready for. Their strong bond is what is so magical about this story. It was what pulled me in from the very beginning of the book. They are a definite force to be reckoned with and you too will fall in love with them just as I did.

I can't wait to see how the future books turn out. If they are any where near as great as this one, then they will sure be a must read for me. Never Let You Fall was a beautiful story about trusting your heart as well as your instincts. To follow your heart into the unknown and to believe in the unimaginable.

Never Let You Fall is a YA paranormal/fantasy book. It has demons and magic and guardians and a magical land and romance and action. Basically, it has everything it needs to be an interesting and captivating read.
The story focuses on Skye, a teen who was orphaned at the age of 7 and has no memories of her family. At 17, she finds herself rescued by Xander after a night of wild partying and is strangely comforted by his words “I am safe”. After meeting Xander, Skye starts to learn a lot about herself, her family, and her past…and she is thrust into a world that she never imagined existed.
The book is told from alternating points of views so that the reader gets to understand the thoughts and feelings of both Xander and Skye. I’m not normally a big fan of alternating viewpoints, but it really worked well in this book. There were so many mysteries about the past and secrets…but the alternating viewpoints helped make it all understandable. There were a lot of details throughout the book and it moved a little slowly at times – although there was plenty of action scattered throughout the book.
I loved the characters of Skye and Xander. Skye has an amazing inner strength. She went through a lot as a kid in the system with no family and no memories, yet she managed to survive and keep her self-confidence. Xander is absolute book boyfriend material. His love for Skye and devotion to her (even when she didn’t know he was there) was so sweet and romantic. And the fact that he’s a kick-ass guardian and super sexy, doesn’t hurt. I also loved the explanation of the phrase “I’ll never let you fall” and why it was so important to Xander and Skye…but I can’t say anything more because I don’t want to spoil it for new readers.
As I was reading and noticing that I was getting to 80+% of the book, I knew that there wasn’t enough room left for everything that I wanted to happen...and sure enough I was right. The book ended with a cliffhanger that made me want to throw something. I need to know what happens to Skye and Xander...so now I’m anxiously waiting for Ms. Miller to finish the next book.

Skye is a troubled young woman who has lived on the wrong side of the tracks her entire life. Raised in group homes from a very young age, she learned to be tough and to guard her heart – although no one ever really tried to penetrate it anyway. Enter hotness personified: Xander. His arrival into Skye’s life catapults her into a fantasy world that has to be seen to be believed, and brings her to another dimension called Tyalbrook. Skye’s destiny is revealed to her in bits and pieces, and like any girl she is resistant and unwilling to believe that she could be anything so special.
I really enjoyed the descriptions of Tyalbrook, but would like to have seen more about the magical creatures that inhabit the land. Since this is just book 1 in a series, I would imagine that book 2 will probably include a lot more of those details to pacify readers like me, who enjoy all that mystical mumbo-jumbo. I think the last third of the book was the most exciting, and I think that some of the details and information about Earth-life could probably have been reduced in order to get Skye to Tyalbrook faster. Again….I like the mystical mumbo-jumbo.
There were many times in the story that I wanted to absolutely throttle Skye – she was completely infuriating at times! It speaks well for author Michele Miller’s ability for character creation to make me want to strangle a fictional character. She seemed oddly pliable at times that I’d think she would kick up a fuss, and completely irrational at times that I felt she should just trust those around her!
The ending of the story is emotional and prickly. Prickly because absolutely no loose ends are tied up! But emotional because with an ending like that, the reader is absolutely compelled to wait (impatiently!) for book 2.
I would recommend this book for readers 15+ -- it’s nothing as racy as what they’ve probably seen on cable – it seems modest and honest.

Love, other world dimensions, royalty and an innocent, brave protagonist 4.5 stars
I read (devoured) ‘Never Let you Fall’ cover to cover. Skye is an innocent royal who was orphaned at a very early age. Because she can’t remember what happened, she is totally unaware that she is royalty who belongs to another world. Enter the very hot guardian, Xander. He was a childhood friend before she was orphaned, who has always loved and protected her. They were parted from each other when she was orphaned. After finding her again, he has been protecting her from the demons with “red eyes” from afar. Though she is living in our world, unaware of the other dimension, she still senses them. Their destinies take them from this world to her true kingdom where she is the princess and he is her “Guardian”. She is the named person of a prophecy that has every man in her kingdom vying for her hand in marriage.
What I really like about this book is the author takes her time to develop the characters and the story. Skye is damaged by growing up in an orphanage. Unloved and always unpicked, she meets a girlfriend who starts her on a partying circuit. Though she drinks heavily at these parties, she manages to stay pure. Even with this complication in her personality, she has the depth of character to care about others and sacrifice her own desires for the good of her land. I like that she doesn’t automatically “have sex” with Xander which tends to be the trend but there is definitely an attraction between the two. This is truly a journey to another land.
There is a sweetness to this author’s writing. She manages to capture the girl’s youthful inexperience, develops the attraction to Xander, and shares the beauty of another world while balancing it with the fear of being hunted. I highly recommend this book and commend the author on her first leg of this journey.

I want to start by stating that while the author is a friend, that has no basis on my actual review. I was lucky enough to have received an ARC of Never Let You Fall by Michele.

Because the book isn't out yet, I'm not giving much of anything away just yet.

I think something that either makes or brakes a book to me is the characters first impressions. I think Michele did a great job with the characters. While this is a YA Fantasy/Paranormal, the way she went about it was excellent.

Skye has been through a lot in her young life, making her a strong character, and who doesn't love a strong protagonist? At first I thought I wasn't going to like her, because she kept denying everything that was being said to her, I took a step back and realized, I'd do the exact same, that's when I fully came to love Skye. You go through this learning process with her. She goes from orphaned teenager, who drowns her sorrows and doesn't know what it's like to feel loved, and can't remember her past, to a young woman in her own, who learns to let love in and learns to love.

Xander! Oh my gaaaahhh! I want Xander! Sexy, funny and chivalrous! Oh, he just swept me off my feet from page 1. I absolutely love/loved Xander. From the very beginning (before Skye can even remember) he's had a connection with her. He is her protector, from everything.

This book was funny, dramatic, suspenseful and oh so romantic! I loved everything about this book, and well, I won't say just yet, but the paranormal aspect of this was amazing! I am excited to see what else is in store from Michele.

Never Let You Fall is beautifully written, a masterpiece in its own way, and will have your heart melting the entire time. I completely fell for it, head over heels.

Skye is a very strong character. It is so refreshing to have a character that made mistakes, and isn't someone who is this 'perfect' person, but is able to overcome that. She is real. Although many of us never had as much tragedy as she may have suffered from, she is a character that you can connect to.

I cannot criticize the 'instalove' that may have taken place in the novel, for I fell for Xander just as quickly as Skye did. Yes, we can say we are strong, independent women as much as we want, but he is the kind of character that brings out the romantic in you. Nearly every word that he says goes straight to the heart. (Not to mention, the fact that he is a Guardian alone sounds pretty sexy.)

The shift in point of view between the two characters really added to the story. I found my interest holding the entire time, and really felt a connection with these characters.

With elegant, clever, and heart-warming writing, Never Let You Fall is a novel that is sure to impress. Anyone wanting a paranormal romance (or, really, just about anyone at all) will immediately fall in love with these characters, and the novel as a whole. The ending (although I won't give anything away) set up for a possible sequel, and I am definitely hoping for more.

Would highly recommend.

It is not often that you find a book by a debut author that hits on all the major points you love in a book. For me, those points are; character development, excitement, angst and a little humor and romance thrown in for good measure. Miller delivered on all of these items.

Never Let You Fall is a star crossed lover / princess who doesn't know she's royalty story. It may not be the most original of concepts but the execution is pretty fabulous in itself.

Miller did a wonderful job of fleshing out characters, not only Skye and Xander but the bit players as well. They all have a small amount of mystery around them but they aren't totally elusive. Skye is a great heroine with equal amounts of hootspa and fragility. Xander is a true hero type and I loved him from start to finish. He is nothing like the typical bookish bad boy. He is kind, caring and utterly protective.

The first half of Never Let You Fall is in the world we know and it follows Skye as she learns who she is and the importance of that. The second half of the book is entirely different. It happens in the world Skye was supposed to inhabit from birth. It has an almost Medieval aspect to it and it was a wonderful change of direction for the story.

Never Let You Fall is a tragically beautiful story with a mixture of paranormal romance and fantasy that hooks you from page one and doesn't ever let go. The pacing is fantastic, I read it in a day, I just couldn't put it down. It was thrilling, it was sweet and it left me wanting more.

From the moment I picked up this book, I was hooked. There was something about it that just kept me from being able to put it down. I eventually had to tell myself that I needed to get some sleep and that Skye and Xander would be where I left them in the morning! Of course, the second I woke up, I went right back to reading it.

The only thing Skye can remember of life before her parents death, is what she sees in her nightmares, and even with that, she's not certain it's what happened. Xander's been watching Skye for years, keeping her out of the harm that is unknown to her. Yet when Skye leaves herself unprotected and unable to take care of herself one night after Xander notices a monster is after her, he realizes he has to do something, to protect her not only from the monsters, but from herself.

After that, everything seems so quick. Skye receives answers to questions she's had her entire life, but they just lead to even more confusion and even more questions. Not only does Skye have to come to terms with what happened in her past, but what she has to do, to not only save herself, but to save a everybody.

The relationship between Skye and Xander is the kind of relationship I love to read about, the kind that as I read I get the butterflies in my stomach, which I feel like gives such a connection to the two. Even though I know how their relationship is supposed to work out, from the beginning, I wanted more for them. There were even times that when Skye was upset, I shed a few tears myself, that is how amazing this read was.

Favorite Line “That's not going to happen, Xander," I promised him for a change. "I will never let you fall.”

Wow! Just wow! I loved it! I enjoyed every page and Skye and Xander are amazing characters that have been through so much. Skye doesn't know anything about any of her past and then is shoved into a uncertain, magical, scary future! Where she is a princess in another realm with red eyed monsters chasing her and people wanting to marry her so the can use her to control the kingdom! Her one anchor throughout this journey is Xander (oh man I close my eyes and I see this amazingly gorgeous man), he will move the moon for her. She has finally found some one to trust. Just so beautiful! I cried so much for them I was such a big baby! This book touched me in that way though, My heart broke for everything they both have endured! They still don't know who the can fully trust. I personally don't trust Selene. I am at odds if I trust Griffen but, I hope he is a good guy because I really like him!
Throughout the story there are so many different places they go and the author does an amazing job of describing them.

What an amazing debut novel for this author! I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

I was given this book by author for an honest review

Never Let You fall is a YA paranormal romance that tells the story of characters Xander and Skye. Orphaned when she was young, Skye starts off lost and without direction. Loyal and strong, Xander is her sworn protector and guardian; he was also a total sweetie and was one of my favorite characters. I loved the concept of the romance in this book: a boy falls in love with someone he shouldn't, a girl who never had anyone who loved her, and thought that Michele portrayed the romance well. The dynamics between the two were sweet and steamy at times, and the tension was nicely heightened as the danger to Skye increased throughout the story. In the latter half of the book, the two journey to Tyalbrook, a world that I thought had a lot of excellent potential. I hope we get to learn more about it and explore the magic of this world in book two, and I am looking forward to revisiting Skye, Xander, and Tyalbrook in the sequel. Oh, and I must know what happens after the end of book one!

Final note: I don't usually like cliffhangers endings, but this one actually was not too bad - it had an almost Everneath-y feel to it (no spoilers), and I thought where it did end worked fine as a breaking point.

Never Let You Fall is a superb YA fantasy read, that was a welcome reminder of why I love this genre so much.

From the opening, the author created a character and a scenario that was fascinating and captured my attention. She presents her protagonist, Skye, with a unique background and present; she is certainly an original character for this genre. This immediately piqued my interest.

As the story unfolds, I was effectively engaged throughout by the character's dramas and endeavors, and once the author introduced Xander, the gorgeous protector, it didn't take me long to embrace my inner young-woman have get a new book crush.

Michele G Miller's writing style is crisp and fluent. Never Let You Fall was easy to absorb and enjoy. The author's ability to create characters that you can relate to, have empathy for and actively cheer along was impressive.

The change of setting was successfully managed. Michele G Miller created a world that was fun and fascinating to visit. Her descriptive style, in conjunction with her plot and character developments, produced a narrative that was enchanting to read.

Are you a fan of those stories where the "orphan" girl is discovered to be in fact - something else amazing ? In Never Let You Fall , it has something for everyone as you have the murder mystery going on with her family dying in a fire when she was seven years old and then in the other reality we discover her parents vanished without a trace fifteen years ago. Now ten years later, Skye is faced with a new life as her "guardians" have come out of the woodwork and revealed to her that she is in fact from a different reality and in that reality she is a Princess who once she marries is set to be Queen of the land known as Tyalbrook. It seems though that once Skye and her guardian Xander return to Tyalbrook that secrets - dark ones have been hidden and others want the Princess to die. Can Xander work with Skye to keep her safe and as his promise goes "Never Let You Fall" ? Also visiting Skye in her dreams is Griffin - the elf who seems to know all about her mother and what happened to her. Can Griffin point Skye in the right direction to discovering what happened to her parents ?

Guardian story with a twist

At first I thought this was going to be the typical Guardian Angel story. Although the story is not one of angels, the general plot is similar to other stories I have read before; but Miller was able to add a few twist and turns that I was not expecting. Miller is able to transport us into the story, making us experience the doubt, fear, and anguish that the main characters experience. Miller has flawlessly introduced the characters including their personality, and set up the storyline. As a result you are left with several questions at the end, leaving us craving the nest book. I have a feeling and hope that Xander is more than just a guardian. And wonder how Griffith will be involve in the story, I have a eerie feeling that they are promise to each other. 

I recommend the book to anyone looking for a good story which is really simply written without any fluff.

I can't say how much I LOVE this book!!!! Michele .... You have done such an astounding job in writing this!!! There are a couple of areas where there are letters/words left out, or where the
punctuation needs to be corrected. But, I can't wait for the next book that will come!!!! I am jonesing (already) for the next book!!!!!

The relationship between Skye & Xander is so lovely and complicating at the same time, but so true to life that I can totally relate. I hope that in the next book we have more info on Rioden & Selene's relationship as well. The biggest question is ... Who can Skye ultimately trust? There are so many dynamics and different levels of relationships & intent in this book. I cannot wait until the next one comes. So, at this point, all I can say is .... Get to writing missy!!! :) I don't know how long I can wait for the next part of this story!!!! :)

The plot has potential. I just felt like parts of it contradicted itself or repeated itself. I don't feel like the dual POV was necessary, just detracts from the flow of the narration. Also the writing was too casual---like it was trying to hard to be conversational. Even though the world is partially set in 2013, readers (or at least this one) never want to hear their characters use lingo such as "like" in their books or carry a conversation as modern teenagers would. Also, the cliffhanger did not draw me into book 2 at all. It felt like the wrong stopping point. I just thought to myself, "Really? Did you run out of steam right there?" You want your reader to be so mad at you for ending it on such a pivotal plot point. I know this is a debut so I hope some constructive criticism reaches the author before book 2, because I do think the plot has a lot of potential.
