Drag queen Lucy Tang is back in Boston, and is hell-bent on settling her vendetta against casino owner Sookie Ling. And suddenly, Bud Malone, PI, has the case of his life to resolve.
When Boston's robot police force are baffled by a mind transfer case, they come to Malone for help.
The one person who can likely help Malone out here is the witch Soledad Bathory. But Soledad seems to know a lot more than she's telling him.
It's a case not made easier when Malone meets Soledad's beautiful cousin, Josephine 'Slave' Bailey. Slave has her own plans for Malone, most of which involve teaching him BDSM and making him her new Master.
Oh, and Rick Rogers owes Sookie Ling a whole lot of money, a gambling debt that's going to be literally Hell to pay!
Boston Corpse--Not your average detective novel!
PUBLISHER'S DISCLAIMER/STORM WARNING: This isn't well-behaved young adult fiction. It is not intended for children, either. This is a graphically violent, EXTREMELY sexually graphic/depraved, quite sick book (in places) . . . seriously, not for the innocent. SERIOUSLY. Er . . . you've been warned.
This is Book #2 in the Bud Malone Series. Book #1 is Boston Posh.
Wol-vriey writes eXXXtreme horror fiction, and also some surrealist stuff.
To date, he has published over forty novels in both genres.
His horror novels include: EnterPAINment, LGBT, The Virgin, Marriage, Women, Nightmare Fuel 1 & 2, Haunted House XXX 1 & 2, and How To Succeed in Life.
On the surrealist side of things, he is the author of Vegan Zombie Apocalypse, Vegan Vampire Vaginas, Vagina Mundi, and the disturbing and unsettling Dr. Orgasm.
A fast moving plot and memorable, creative characters highlight Boston Corpse. The chaos of Boston has temporarily settled for a bit and Bud Malone finds himself feeling a bit bored. Of course, it doesn’t take long before he is dropped into a string of challenging situations, all of it beginning with Lucy Tang’s return to Boston. Sookie and Lucy Tang are classic bitter enemies, fully invested in their attempts to one-up each other. When you add their unavoidably intense and perverted sexual preferences, you’ve got some pretty great scenes. These two are among many rivals fighting for the reader’s attention, while maintaining the quick pace. Soledad Bathory is the perfectly mysterious witch, hatching a plan that may be more than she can control. Finally, the villainous Switch creates the right amount of unpredictability. I enjoyed the way the book progressed, connecting the stories of all characters along the way. I must also mention the BDSM element between Bud and Slave (who may be the sexiest female in all of Wol-vriey's books.) Seeing Bud break free from his "vanilla" mindset was great. The final 10% of the book upped the intensity, containing many of those unforgettable and unexpected scenes. I was laughing while being shocked at the same time. If you have read Wol-vriey before, you have a good idea of what I mean. When all was said and done, I closed this feeling satisfied. Boston Corpse is everything I have come to expect from the author, done in that way that will keep me coming back for more.
* I was given this book from the writer, in return of an honest review.
Everytime I get an e-mail from Wol-vriey asking me to review one of his books I know I'm gonna have a great time reading it! And Boston Corpse was not an exception! Bud Malone takes charge when drag queen Lucy Tang is back in Boston and is hell-bent on settling her vendetta against casino owner Sookie Ling. Well, that's one part of the plot. 'Cause there are soooo many sub-plots inside the book, that keep you on the edge of your seat all the time. It's fast pace with a lot of action and an irresistible main character (Malone). What more can you ask? We're in Boston, aka Weirdville and once again, Wol-vriey's mind built an exciting, nightmarish world. We take a ride to the Groad, part of hell in the Forbitten City, nightmares come alive and a vanilla - or at least he thinks he is - P.I. is trying to become the new Master of Josephine 'Slave' Bailey. One of the best things is the book, is the way Wol-vriey intertwines the lifes of all of his characters, the different cases, so they all end up to one person: the witch Soledad Bathory, who seems to keep the key for solving sooo many "mysteries". Sookie Ling on the other hand is another story. The Boss Lady has some killer lines like "True chinese woman anyways have kung -fu film memory, must revenge"... The trip to hell, is one to remember... The descriptions of the demons are beyond any imagination. Ok, we've all heard of horns and lakes of fire and lava, and demons that torture the sinners... Well, Wol-vriey's hell is all these and more! And I had the chance to learn a lot of new things while I was reading the book... Like a new definition for TLC. Forget Tender Loving Care! I don't wanna ruin it for anyone, so if you want to find out what it means, better read the book. Oh! And I don't know if you knew it, but sex can kill you. And not in the way you imagine...
It's been quite an adjustment for the people of Boston getting use to their lives returning to some form of normalcy. The sentient Forks for whatever reason decided to turn Boston back into its thriving city, this time, without deadly dragons and dinosaurs causing chaos in the streets. Buildings are buildings again, no longer giant beetles that take flight, and Malone? Well Malone has his own adjustments to this but all in all is enjoying the calm. He's goin on dates, albeit not very successful ones, but the man's putting himself out there! When reports of people with teeth falling out acting not quite themselves, a new case unfolds before Malone, and now he must find out who or what is swiping bodies in Boston, and protect those along the way!
What's calming for one is an opportunity for revenge for another! Lucy Tang is back and her and her gang are out for blood. Sookie's blood more specifically. After releasing nightmare pods into the floors of Sookie's casino, demons and horrible mutants terrorize the area scaring off Sookie's men and killing a few. Stan, Sookie's right hand man, survives and while he is on a mission to collect a debt from Ricky Rogers, Sookie sets out to end Lucy once and for all.
Ah Rick Rogers....Ricky, Ricky, Ricky. The poor man just doesn't listen. I love his side story a lot. He has a debt he owes to Sookie, and Stan is hell bent on retrieving the money or removing his legs. On a mission to save his legs, Ricky turns to Soledad who suggests he talk to Anastasia Wormwood of the The Goad to help him out of his debt. She has one warning in regards to their encounter and that is to keep it in his pants. Just don't fuck her and all will be well. Trusting the good witch, Ricky finds Anastasia and the world he encounters is filled with craziness and strange creatures like little metal crabs with baby faces that pour out of a giant demons vagina....ya know....crabkids....I LOVE THIS BOOK! He meets a big black snake man named Mr. Chews in this world and he's entertaining. Things get increasingly more fucky for Rick and at it's worst he sums it up nicely with the thought,"I’m existentially screwed"
Enter the bewitching Soledad Bathory and her masochistic cousin Slave. Soledad is a practicing witch and quite good at it. Sookie has Soledad summon a demon from The Goad (basically hell....beneath hell...) to kill Lucy. It's mode of transportation is utilizing the bodies of animals and people to get close to Lucy in order to carry out the task of killing her. Well as can be expected, things go awry and now SWITCH (accurate enough name for a body swapping demon) is after Sookie.
With a demon after the wrong person, Soledad hires Malone to help her find SWITCH before any more damage can be done. With Malone on the case, his encounters along the way will make your head spin as with any good Wol-vriey novel. The man is certifiably insane in the best way as far as I am concerned. I absolutely love the Bud Malone series and pretty much love all the characters new and old introduced. Slave was a bit obnoxious and super manipulative in her unstable emotions for Malone which, to me, was awfully a fast fall into love. Every single character has a depth to them, and if you have ever read any Wol-vriey you know that there are going to be a million and one characters to get to know and the author truly knows hows to give substance to every player. I love Sookie's broken English and her sexy lesbian friends Dallas and TLC. Wol-vriey describes a very steamy scene in a bed with all these gorgeous ladies and hell, I was super turned on. The man just knows how to write!
Another note worthy element is The Goad, a hell world that can be brought forth via nightmare fruit pods (Or using the Hellevator...). When broken open, they release a yellow gas that turns the surrounding area into a playground for all sorts abominable creatures and terrifying nightmares. Here we meet an array of creepy characters and I love their cross over encounters with other people in the book. The parts where these pods are used are entertaining as hell! Start to finish this book is a spectacular follow up to Boston Posh. Looking forward to starting the third book in the Malone series, Boston Lust!

Boston goes to Hell and back. With a wooden knife by its side and demon possession that needs to burn....
Boston "Weirdville" returns with Malone fighting crime in the ravage streets. He also finds a new love of his life or a sex slave. Twisted drugs, Transgender sex, A witch who disappears in a cloud of smoke, a Robot-Cop and just the strange crap that can happen in this alternate Boston. Some new characters come out to play in this, (one of my favorites) Anastasia. A Hell disciple or an employee of Hell(or whatever she is I want to see more of her.) With amazing writing visuals of Hell. Wol-vriey does it again as he continues his Boston series and come to think of it...the next one is probably in progress.
Take your average crime story add some extreme surreal weirdness and you have one helluva ride through Boston. GET YOURS!!
Boston Corpse was sent to me by the author with a request for a review. It was quite some time ago, so, Wol-vriey, I apologize for the long delay. As for the book. I'm not exactly a connoisseur of the bizarro genre; Boston Corpse is only the second that I've experienced, so I'm not sure what the standards and expectations are. Having said that, I enjoyed Boston Corpse, for the most part. There are some really graphic scenes, but I figure that's par for the course. It's got a pretty imaginative, engaging plot, and I actually found myself liking several of the characters. I feel like I got a little bored towards the end, but still found the story an interesting read overall. Thanks, Wol-vriey!
I was approached to read this by the author Wol-vriey, which was a remarkable stroke of luck as I'd already been planning to read some of his works, and received a free copy in exchange for this review. Admittedly I wasn't really sure what to expect from it, considering that even in the wide expanse of bizarro authors Wol-vriey occupies an interesting niche with his own bizarro universe that he revisits and he also writes stories that are significantly longer than the average work of bizarro.
Not having read Boston Posh I attempted to get that down beforehand, but it was taking long enough and I already had the knowledge that it wasn't a necessity to read them in order so I proceeded onto this one and it was a great idea to do so.
Boston Corpse is, in short, a fustercluck of crime, sex, and the bizarre but for whatever reason I really enjoyed it. Bud Malone is an interesting character and seeing how he and his mostly normal personality fit into the world is an interesting step.
There are a few different plotlines from the beginning as Wol-vriey follows through several of the major players at once bringing them towards some unenviable situations and exposing the reactions of the characters following each of those.
There is a good deal of sex, and it's pretty weird but not so much so like in the portion of Boston Posh I read up to this point. Malone gets pretty involved with a member of the submissive variety and his struggles with what he's doing actually makes a scene that would otherwise be overdone seem interesting with a balance of power. Sex is also used as punishment in a way that I would've never thought possible, and thank goodness Wol-vriey's here to show just how it happens.
The violence and creatures involved are awesome as well. Wol-vriey creates creatures right out of someone's nightmares, I know for sure they aren't mine but I kind of wonder if they're really anyone's before they read the story. The enforcers and whatnot are played interestingly as well. At several points you see a complete badass reduced to a sniveling wimp, showing that even the most manly of men aren't made to deal with the horrors of hell.
It's kind of hard to talk about it further without giving away something, because most of the events are hard to generalize, but in closing I would strongly recommend this to someone who has a fairly strong stomach and a decent sense of adventure.
Bud Malone is back in this must read follow-up to Wol-vriey's Bizarro masterpiece, BOSTON POSH. For fans of weird fiction, Wol-vriey commands the English language in the painting of fantastic scenes and bizarre circumstances.
BOSTON CORPSE is no exception; it is fast-pace and contains plenty of adventure with many of the cast from POSH. Bud Malome is in for a bizarro adventure of his lifetime when he begins to work on a case where people begin body-transferring into other people and animals without their will. As he works to uncover the dark forces behind these occurrences, an even greater mystery unravels as Bud discovers his old pal and Casino owner/underworld boss, Sookie, may be the target of several bad things coming after her.
Will Bud save Sookie in time and just what will he have to do in order to accomplish this? I won't spoil this for you... you are just going to have to read and find out!
BOSTON CORPSE also explores dark BDSM in several scenes. So for the pussyfoots... you have been warned. For the curious ones, THIS is how 50 SHADES OF GREY should have been told like. So if you're into kinky dark things and might want to know more about the alternate BDSM scene, skip 50 SHADES and check out BOSTON CORPSE... I think you will be thoroughly enlightened!
This is a tough book to review as I'm not entirely sure what to make of it.
Positive points - Bud Malone is a great character and I really did enjoy following him around this bizarro world. After a while you do start to settle down and accept the strange events, but there is an initial acceptance required in the first chapters were I did wonder if I was going to enjoy it - but I'm glad I stuck with it. The dynamics between Slave and Malone worked really well - I would love to read an entire book following their further adventures. Also Sookie Ling stood out with her great use of the English language. Finally there were a number of humorous and very original scenes throughout the book (the dinner date? the rape scene? bdsm?).
Negative points? Some of the bizarro events were probably too unusual for me but that might be because I'm not used to reading this type of fiction. Maybe removing them would have watered down the book? Or maybe removing some of them would have widened the appeal of the book to a greater audience. I don't know. I do know that I want to read more though.
The bizarre fiction world is new to me. This is the second book I ever read in this genre. I didn’t read the first volume of this series, so I guess I missed much of the world building that probably was described before. I like this Bizarro world. It felt awkward and random. The mix between reality and fantasy was well done. The mystery and the characters were also interesting. The book is full of original ideas and scenes. The odd characters fully complement this plot. What really really bothered me was the excessive use of sex to get the plot going. There are so many sexual references, so many sexual scenes, so many dicks, fellatios…. It was too much for me. I know it has shock value, but it doesn’t work for me. It was a shame, because I loved the world and characters. I like to read about sexuality, but not that much. Nevertheless, I advise everyone to try this author. It was refreshing reading about such a strange world.
I'll keep it short: Malone started out as a wonderful character, I have a soft spot for detectives. But then Slave happened and he began annoying me. So I turned my attention to the plot which I felt started out weak but then things started evolving and I got interested in where things were headed. But oh my all the distractions just blur the plot (and Malone).
Most of the side characters were annoying. Soledad turned out okay though. All the men were stereotypical. Everything about, around and relating to Sookie annoyed the crap out of me. I skimmed almost all of the parts about Slave. All that sex, which was nice, was a distraction from the main plot. I think if there would have been more focus on solving the crime(s) and about police work, this novel would have been more interesting for me.
3. I day this because it's a story I liked a lot, but there are enough of what feel like errors in grammar and sentence flow to make a reader stumble. That said I would like to read more by this author. His style is different, but fits Bizarro fiction extremely well. Had I not known this to be Bizarro fiction I would have guessed it to be mystery suspense with romance.
The characters are interesting and different enough that you can't really compare them to other characters from other places and each character voice is distinct, but sometimes if you're not paying attention it gets confusing which happens with most anything.
I had a hard time putting this book down. It had a wonderful combination of mystery, gore, and romance that I enjoy in many Bizarro fiction novels. I look forward to seeing this author improve.
Well, it took me a while to get through this one, only because my kids like to read over my shoulder and there was "no way in hell" (book pun right there) that was going to happen with this. Definitely fits the bizzaro aspect of bizzaro fiction. I really liked it. Aside from all the perversion, the story line was great and it kept me interested...not gonna lie, the perversion did a little bit too.
Well I re-read this all the way through! I love the adventures of Malone! So Boston is rid of the Dragons and the Forks that were pretty much destroying Earth...at least put some stuff back to rights. Basically the main plot is Lucy Tang is after Sookie Ling (the dragon lady, queen of crime in Boston) for revenge. There are a lot of characters and they all get tangled up...and either have a strangely horrific death, fall in love or make it to the end
