Razor's Edge is the third book in the military sci-fi series, Command Decision, and follows the events of Forged In Battle and Shadow War.
You can enjoy Razor's Edge as a standalone for the main mission in this book but to be fully immersed in the world and characters it's best to read the series in order 👍
If you like your sci-fi fast-paced with space battles and military tactics then this is the series for you. Also perfect for fans of shows like The Expanse and Star Trek.
The Union is at war with the Hegemony and Union Captain, Jaxon Steele, is back in command of a new mission where the stakes are higher than ever.
Familiar crew members are also back including his second in command, XO Chase, and it's great to see strong female characters like Chase in a series like this.
The world building is fantastic, the futuristic battles are thrilling and frenetic and there is plenty of intrigue and suspense with the internal politics, intelligence agencies and secret orders.
Steele's ability to think outside the box and use clever tactics and ingenious solutions gives his crew a fighting chance against impossible odds and I really like that he reads about historic battles on Old Earth which gives him some of his ideas.
The story provides a lot of excitement. And it all builds to a pulse-pounding crescendo with a stunning conclusion.
I'm sure we'll be seeing more of this series because we can't leave the story there!
As an addition, the author has created my new favourite drinking game. Take a drink whenever Steele rubs or sets his jaw and let the good times roll 😉🥃
But seriously, it's a well written, fun series with lots of explosive action. Great stuff.

I'm not sure my nerves can take much more!! I am so invested in this series, it's so well written that it wraps me up the minute I pick it up and I just don't want to put it down.
It sets a frenetic pace, whether we are tiptoeing through space to another target or running for cover after another successful stealth mission. The characters and ship are a familiar blanket, with the addition of Zara to add a little uncertainty this time. This book saw more internal politics and the palpable tension in the chain of command with Steele and the other captains had me holding my breath as I watched it unfold.
The missions are getting harder, the rewards bigger and the dangers practically incalculable. The writing style makes technical details and space warfare easy to understand and become involved in. The characters are developing as we go further into the series, Steele is steadfast, Chase is clever and loyal, Miller is enigmatic and frustrating and the other crew the perfect compliment to them all.
If you love a military space sci-fi read then this series has got to go on your list.

Captain Jaxon Steel and Miller have been summoned by Bennet to his office. Steele has been promoted to Commodore. He and Miller will be returning to Santana to continue their war against the Valkorian Hegemony. While his ship Ranger in in repair he will be using Wolverine. Though Wolverine is a relic, she is a steadyship. Steel begins his tour of the ships that will be part of his squadron. He has been tasked with hurting the enemy whichever way he can. He is expected to succeed, but with old ships and outdated equipment will be live up to the expectations set upon him?
The world bulding was magnificent, the characters were strong and determined and the battle was mind and muscle. I always enjoy how Steel thinks and commands his team. He is heroic without coming off as entitled, he knows he is good but his team makes him great and his battles are of epic proportions even when he lacks the tools which would ensure him his victory. A perfect way to end this epic trilogy. Captain Steel will be missed!

Ummm What!!! That ending….. I am now mourning there isn’t a book 4!
Based on the first two books I went into this with high hopes for fast paced battles, mad decision making, loyalty and some intergalactic politics. I was not disappointed! Steel and his crew faced stakes higher than ever, with everyone’s lives on the line.
A new character makes an appearance in this book who I had to mention. Captain Renford, she has set of a rage in me! What was she thinking!! I hope there is a whole host of pain coming her way!
Anyway this book had brilliant world building again and the level of detail about the Santana system, the ships and the characters really made me more engaged with the story. It was fab to see our main recurring characters, Steele, XO Chase, Miller (even though he’s infuriating) and Yates. With more ships under Steele’s command the chaos grew resulting in some epic battles.
This is a fast paced military space sci-fi which sucked me in taking me on a dangerous path of combat and politics across the Union and Hegemony star systems.

Excellent. Possibly the end of the series which is shame; I didn’t care much for Off Midway Station an$ would like to read more by this author.
