Daggers of Mist and Moonlight
Princess Esemeray is no stranger to loss. She hasn’t seen her twin sister after she mysteriously vanished from the castle eight years ago, and it has been even longer since she used her magic. But just when her forbidden powers lay dormant, bound by a chain at her neck, something dark within her stirs, awakening them. Too tied up by her father’s iron rule and mother’s vitriol, Esemeray has never been able to save herself, let alone risk everything to search for Elora. But her hollow, carefully controlled life fractures when a mysterious man shows up on her balcony and places a star in her palm.
Riggs Whitlock, brother of a notorious bounty hunter, is reckless, forbidden, and dangerously captivating
Riggs' unauthorized interest in the Princess is an offense punishable by death. But the Whitlock brothers narrowly dodge the wrath of the crown, setting off on a seemingly impossible quest for their freedom: find Princess Elora. If they fail, the man Esemeray is falling for could end up just as lost.
Or dead.
As tensions in the castle rise and the Whitlock brothers ride off into the perilous unknown, Esemeray is left with one burning question:
What would happen if she followed?

This book had me in a constant state of sleep deprivation because I simply could not put it down. After every chapter ended, I needed to read just "one" more chapter. 😂
The mysterious events around Elora in the beginning had me instantly hooked. Shannon did a great job with Esemeray's character growth throughout the story. And I loved that Riggs had a cocky, playful banter but was also the perfect gentleman.
Another highlight for me was the constant bickering between Killian and Riggs. Their interactions felt like a truly authentic sibling relationship. 😂
Also: thank you and how dare you, for breaking my heart! 😭 I love books that destroy me, but now I am left waiting for the next book. With so many unknowns, I need book 2 now, please!

5⭐️ Voluntary ARC
Daggers of Mist and Moonlight by Shannon Gonzi ✨
Okay… THIS BOOK! 😭🔥
Elora has been missing for 8 years, and her sister Esemeray has never stopped wondering where she is. With magic being stifled in the kingdom and their horrible mother forcing the girls to wear necklaces that hide their magic from their father, the King, there is SO much going on from the very beginning.
Enter Riggs and Killian — bounty hunter brothers who end up taking on the search for Elora. Riggs is the studious one, Killian is… well, a hard man to read until you get to know him and together they uncover way more than they ever expected.
Meanwhile, Esemeray is being forced into an engagement with the absolutely nasty Prince, and she finally decides she’s had ENOUGH. 👏🏻
This book was a PAGE TURNER. Shannon seriously knows how to play with my emotions because the highs, the lows, the twists, the secrets… ALL OF IT had me completely invested. I could not put this one down and I was absolutely begging for more by the end!
The magic, the sister bond, the bounty hunters, the secrets, the romance, the betrayal… give me ALL OF IT. 🖤✨
And that ending?! 👀
I am 100% here for Book 2 because I NEED to know what happens next!
You definitely want to read this!

ARC Reader! 🤩 I’ve been waiting to read this book and was so excited to finally get the opportunity. My favorite elements are action, adventure, unpredictable plot, dynamic characters and different POVS which all of this had!! I especially loved the reflection of familial bonds and the complex personalities and backstory’s of each character that we get a glimpse of. I also thought the different POVs were very well done. Sometimes authors can get repetitive in this aspect, but it was so well articulated and you really got to see their unique personalities shine through. I also see a lot of fantasy plots tend to almost become overdone, but not with DOMAM. This was such unique and engaging fun read because it was different. I know when the writing is good when I’m constantly wanting to flip the page and not put it down! I’m even more excited for the FMCs development because now I have so many questions about her😂. RIGG’s the mmc is the perfect gentle lover boy so don’t mistake this for an enemies to lovers it’s more of an intrigue right of the bat. Which I assume the author was going for based on the FMCs traumatic history! Again - super unique.
Finally I’ll say that this definitely throws you for an emotional loop and gets you attached to the characters and their development which I LOVE!
Super excited to continue the series!

Daggers of Mist and Moonlight sent me on an emotional roller coaster ride. My children can attest to how many times I have screamed, laughed, cried, jumped up and down in excitement yelled “yes yes yes”throughout this read. The writing was great, pacing was perfect. The plot was straightforward and easy to follow. There were no fluffs or fillers which I appreciated!! The world building was vast yet intricate with so many magical creatures.
I absolutely love the Whitlock family. We have our MMC Rigsby “Riggs” who is unserious, the hottest nerd, lover boy and a master yearner, Killian “Kills” (my fave) who is big, complicated, traumatized & sad. Shannon gave us 2 hot men who happen to be brothers, a full meal if you will, then she went above and beyond and sweetened this Whitlock deal by giving us dessert in the form of their dad Rhidian Whitlock, I can only describe as calm, wise, strong, and hot AF 🥵🤸♀️ One attribute the Whitlock men share is loyalty. Their loyalty to each other regardless of their differences really made this family dynamic one of my favorites in a long while!!!
Our FMC Esemeray is a very strong young woman. She was a prisoner in her own home, she endured so much pain and trauma at the hands of her own mother. How sad it was for a princess to feel this way. I wanted to give her a hug after reading this in chapter 11: “Esemeray knew it was best to live life without expectations. Expectations led to disappointment, which led to unwanted emotions. Something Esemeray already carried too much of, and she refused to carry anymore.” I am ready for her revenge and comeback chapters. I personally would like to take the Queen out behind the castle and beat her to a bloody pulp. **I have a theory about why the King does not know about his twin daughter’s magical powers.
Altogether this was an excellent read. The characters had depth and personality. Each character had a strength and weakness that was very relatable. The banter was hilarious, flowed naturally and did not come off as forced or “try too hard”, the navigation of grief was delicate and intimate. It was both sad and beautiful. The yearning was top tier and the spicy scenes were perfectly executed, tastefully written.
The only con is not knowing when the next book will be released because that cliffhanger ending was RUDE lol
Congratulations Shannon M. Gonzi! This was beautiful!

I throughly enjoyed this book! From the start there’s a lot of mystery that gets you hooked. I really enjoyed the multiple POVs especially in the beginning because it didn’t make the world building feel too heavy. There’s always something happening but it’s still easy to follow. I enjoyed how the bonds between each character were written so well, I truly felt like I was on a journey with them. I have a lot of questions I need answered and characters that need to be followed up with so I need a second book stat ! Highly recommend. Oh, and the romance is definitely there but I just enjoyed the adventure even more! - Hannah McCrary

The level of sarcasm and hilarious banter was killing me. Riggs and Killian are the most courageous and entertaining brother duo, you HAVE to love them. Esemeray is such a kind and caring soul to all manner of things and has unwavering love for them. Her bravery does not go unnoticed either. (THIS WAS THE FIRST BOOK TO MAKE ME CRY AND I MEAN CRY!! My heart broke and I can’t wait for book two!)

This book tore out my soul, stomped all over it, and left me hanging—begging for book 2 IMMEDIATELY. 😭
As Riggs, Esemeray, and Killian journey through the lands on their mission, they encounter far more challenges than moments of ease. They don’t always work together flawlessly, but somehow, their different strengths and skills make them a formidable group.
And the relationships?! 🥹 You can’t help but fall in love right alongside the characters—romantically, platonically, and in whatever way their hearts choose to connect. Which, of course, makes it all the more heartbreaking when things don’t go according to plan.
And that cliffhanger?! Absolutely RUDE. I was left reeling, desperate for more, and feeling much like Esemeray… wishing on a star.✨
If this is what book one did to me, I’m genuinely terrified (and VERY excited) for book two. Give. Me. More. Immediately.

SIX STAR READ!
I had the pleasure of beta reading Shannon’s debut romantasy novel DAGGERS OF MIST AND MOONLIGHT and was blown away by her story. The world feels vast and brims with unique creatures, but never feels overwhelming. The characters are distinct, full of quirks and trauma (and sometimes questionable behavior).
If you want a nerdy, sweet MMC who is obsessed with her from the moment he lays eyes on her, and a shifter princess, then you will love Riggs Whitlock and Esmeray. If you like them grumbly and a bit rough around the edges (with a tragic backstory), you’re going to fall for Killian Whitlock. These bounty brothers are HOT, and much like TVD and the Salvatore Brothers, this story is just as much about Riggs and Killian’s brotherly bond as it is about Riggs and Esmeray’s love story.
Gonzi explores heavy themes of grief, loss, addiction, parental abuse, and loss of identity—but these themes never make the book feel too heavy. The story makes a lot of room for lightness and comic relief, and you’ll be having a damn good time for most of this book. That being said—YOU’VE BEEN WARNED ABOUT THE ENDING. The last few pages of this book had me hysterically sobbing and begging the author for book 2.
Shannon Gonzi is a breakout debut fantasy author, and DOMAM is a freaking gold mine waiting to be discovered. If you’re thinking about reading this, DO IT. But trust me, you won’t be the same after.

4/5 ⭐
3/5 🌶
While reading this I had so many questions & when those questions were answered the farther into the book I got....the more freakin questions I had. I loved the world building, the confusing af magic system, the character building....although the Esemeray & Killian got on my freaking nerves so much. As a whole, the book is amazing, loved it so much & I cannot wait for the next book, but the lack of communication really irks my nuggets.
Esemeray (FMC) an abused (basically by everyone significant in her life) sheltered princess. Her twin sister has been missing for years & no one has any idea what happened. People who possess magic are killed, on order of her father (the king), but low and behold.....she has shifter magic (& then some) & so does her twin sister. She meets someone at her birthday party & dances with him......& can't stop thinking about him; then the king announces her betrothal to douche canoe rapist Prince Peter (he attempts to rape her a few times), which she is most definitely not okay with....she hates him. She frees herself from the seal that her mother (the Queen) has put on her magic & escapes. She finds Riggs & Killian & disguises herself as a kitten to be able to stay with Riggs. **the lack of communication, the panicking, & the somewhat lack of cognitive thinking skills made me want to smack her so hard in the forehead....so many times.**
Riggs aka Rigsby (MMC) reminds me so much of Eugene from Tangled. No plan, just wingin it through life & all of the situations him & his brother get into. He also doesn't know when to shut his mouth, which exacerbates most of the potentially deadly situations they get into. He sneaks into a party the king is throwing, dances with a beautiful woman, has a great conversation with her.....& then gets caught & thrown into the dungeon. A few days later, his brother, Killian, ends up in the cell next to him; Killian infiltrates the court to figure out what happened to Riggs. He gets released & so does Killian (with conditions), they go home & Riggs finds a kitten & decides to take it home. When he wakes up, instead of a kitten in his bed, it's Esemeray. **lack of communication is annoying, but overall he's a somewhat well adjusted character.**
Killian (MMC) is an emotionally constipated ass hat who doesn't know when to shut up, take a breath, & use his logical reasoning rather than his rage. This dude......o my gods, this dude. I wanted to throw him off of the roof of my house. I get that your wife & unborn child was murdered, rage & anger are valid, but after a decade??? Come ooooon. Not to mention the fact that he drowned himself in alcohol & gambling.........he failed himself, Riggs failed him, his father failed him.....everyone failed him, they all enabled his behavior & kept him on the destructive path he was on (& getting back on because of the freaking goolies...). He is your typical 'I'm a manly man that can't show his big feelings on the outside so I'm going to bottle it all up & then project my rage & anger onto the people who don't deserve it' character. Immediate fist to the forehead, in my opinion. I also didn't understand the flip flop of how he acted towards Esemeray throughout the book.......like pick a side & stick with it my guy.
Overall, great book, amazing book. The writing was soooo good, for the most part it was 'smooth' in my head (if that makes sense) & easy to follow....until you got towards the end when they encounter Izara; things got confusing & I felt like a lot of things were missing. The ending was rude......abrupt.....the freakin betrayal I felt when I realized I was at the end almost made me cry. I have questions, so many questions.
This is my honest review & I am leaving it voluntarily. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to ARC this. I appreciate it & you!!

I’ve tried so hard to put into words how spectacular this book is, but nothing does it justice. It takes you on an absolute adventure, bringing fresh, unique elements to the fantasy/romantasy genre. The writing is so vivid that imagining the beauty and struggles of Razareth was completely effortless.
The characters have incredible depth—I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough just to get to know them better. Between the jaw-dropping twists, the feet-kicking giggles, and the full-on sobbing, this delivered everything I want in a fantasy novel.
I would NEVER have guessed this was a debut book—the writing is pure chef's kiss. It honestly changed my brain chemistry, and I keep having random moments in my day that pull me right back to Razareth (I am still thinking about that one scene 😭). And that cliffhanger?! I need book two immediately. You were destined to write.
Rating: 1000/10 (5 stars isn't nearly enough!)

First, I have to say, I AM NOT OKAY!!!!! I was not ready 😭😭😭😭
From the beginning the story grabs you and takes you on a long adventure filled journey and then grabs your heart, pulls it out and stomps on it….
I truly need to stop applying to arcs in a series lol I need more!!!!
Riggs is my favorite and I love his witty humor. Princess Esemaray is a force in her own right (I secretly hope she kills her mother)
• forbidden magic
• shapeshifters
• unique magic
• yearning
• slow burn
• betrayal
• secrets
• multi POV
If you want to escape into a different realm with secrets yet unveiled, mystery, love and touch her and die vibes, definitely give this a read!!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this Arc. Daggers of Mist and Moonlight was perfection! The pace and plot kept things fast paced and bingeable but the world building was still so intricate you could easily imagine everything happening vividly. The characters, character growth, and character relationships where done so beautifully. You can really feel a connection with the characters and it feels like you are going on this journey with them. Everyone needs to add this to their tbr, I cant believe that this is a debut novel with how expertly it was done. I can not wait to follow the rest series because I know it will be great.

✨ Arc Review ✨
I landed on a 3.75 but it was a wonderful time! I love the concept of two bounty hunter brothers and a princess. I did think the pacing with dialogue got a little slow sometimes and I would have loved for a little more in the romantic plot. It felt sort of insta lovey which isn’t my personal preference but I would overall recommend! Can’t wait for the next book!

So many things to say about Daggers of Mist and Moonlight by Shannon Gonzi!!!
This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster from start to finish; and have you on the edge of your seat dying to know what happens next! I loved the care and attention that the author gave all the main characters, especially the Whitlock Brothers. They felt very real and believable, which is hard to do. There’s a lovely amount of yearning from the younger brother, Riggs, who falls for the Princess and inevitably changes his ways for her! The way they bond over their love for astronomy is lovely and was one of my favorite things about their relationship, as they grew to care for each other! (this is a spicy book, with lots of open door romance.)
The world building was fantastic and digestible. I would call this mid fantasy, with a well thought out magic system, really interesting mythical creatures, and a wonderful plot that is exceptionally well-paced.
For me, it had the perfect blending of the like Witcher vibes, in terms of the brothers being bounty hunters (one more stoic and broody (Geralt), the other goofy and carefree (Jaskier) and being out in the wild all dirty and such; and having all this knowledge about monsters & being this bad ass duo that is locally famous! And then pair that with all of the yearning, and the spice of every old timey smut book that I’ve ever devoured (they will forever have my heart!) I was a big fan!!
Even though there were a lot of moments of humor and banter that was very well done, Gonzi also explores the not-so-fun parts of being a human human being— grief, substance abuse and SA. I personally felt that these topics were addressed with care and layered wonderfully throughout main plot.
There’s a lot of love about this story. The ending was certainly not what I was expecting, but I love a surprise ending, and I have no complaints. I can’t wait for a book two!!

*ARC Review*
Overall this was a fun read. It was definitely unique (at least for what is mainstream). I'm invested in the mystery and the world itself. The back and forth between siblings made me giggle (the scene with the bird made me literally cackle). The royal family? Oh they are the worst. And omg I need answers!!
All that being said I found myself losing interest in the romance. I'm not entirely sure what it was that did it I just didn't really care what was going on with their feelings by the end more so eager to just get back to the adventure. Esemeray really irritated me at times she felt so immature and too invested in Riggs. Which isn't necessarily bad but just felt too easy and fast. It was a bit of a bummer since the romance is what I was looking forward too.
I felt like the writing over all wasn't bad. The world drew me in, and I enjoyed learning different ways magic was utilized. However, were times where I felt like entire chapters must have been cut out because how did we even get to this point in the story I thought we were doing something else? I had a moment were I went back pages and chapters just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind.
Overall I enjoyed myself enough and I'm eager to know what will happen next. Im a big fan of romance tho perhaps this time the romance just wasn't my preference?
Overall this was a fun read. It was definitely unique (at least for what is mainstream). I'm invested in the mystery and the world itself. The back and forth between siblings made me giggle (the scene with the bird made me literally cackle). The royal family? Oh they are the worst. And omg I need answers!!

I really enjoyed Daggers of Mist and Moonlight, especially the dynamic between the male characters, Killian and Riggs, and their father. Their relationships added so much intrigue to the story, and I found myself especially invested in their interactions and the questions surrounding them.
One of my favorite things about the book was the worldbuilding. I loved getting introduced to the world and its mysteries, and by the end, I was left with plenty of questions and genuinely wanting to keep reading—which is always a great feeling!
I did find the romance and the female main character a little harder to connect with. There was quite a bit of instant love, and I would have liked to see more independent development from the FMC. She goes from being very sheltered in her home to immediately being protected by Riggs, so I found myself wanting more time to see her grow into herself outside of the romance and his protection.
Ultimately, I was more invested in the world that was being built and the relationships between the male characters than I was in the FMC or the central romance. That said, the story definitely left me curious about what comes next, and I’m interested in continuing the series to see where these characters and this world go!

Review of ARC received by author <3 Thank you!
I did enjoy this book. It was unique, interesting, and funny (at times). Esemeray had a lot of personality, Riggs was such a fun MMC to read about, and Killian was the protective older brother I always wish I had (oldest of five girls here). If you’re looking for something different from the overused, mainstream plots/characters/tropes that have been taking over the industry lately, this is definitely for you!
I didn’t notice any glaring issues with the writing like typos or misspellings (besides a few quotation marks missing or misplaced). It wasn’t repetitive, nor was it difficult to follow. It was genuinely better than some of the super popular traditionally published books that I’ve read lately.
However, one thing I noticed is that the character’s “voices” were not very consistent. I found some of the dialogue to be clunky, and there was a lot of back and forth between the characters talking more relaxed (using contractions and slang, for example) to being more “proper” (no contractions, proper terms, etc). That would be fine if the circumstances dictated it (when speaking to the King or Queen, for example), but the back and forth would appear randomly, sometimes during the same conversation, and (as someone who sometimes accidentally skips over dialogue tags when the conversation is interesting) it made it difficult to keep up with who was talking since there was no concise “voice” for each character. That might be me being knit-picky though.

Daggers of Mist and Moonlight is a debut fantasy romance that will take you on a journey and rip your heart out by the end.
Princess Esemeray is really going through it here. Her twin sister vanished. Her parents are abusive and terrible. And she's supposed to marry an even more horrific Prince. Not to mention she has mysterious powers that she's not supposed to have or let anyone know about.
Bounty hunting brothers Riggs and Killian crash into her world and are tasked with finding the missing princess who no one has been able to find.
Once the action picks up it really doesn't let up and there are quite a few twists and turns in the third act that will make you flip back and check to see if you read what you thought you did.
That cliffhanger was diabolical really. I have no clue what's going to happen in book 2 but I really need to know immediately for my sanity please!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this early!

I had the opportunity to beta read Daggers of Mist and Moonlight
And I have many thoughts.
Let me get one thing straight right off the bat: I am obsessed with the Whitlock brothers.
Riggs is sweet and nerdy and YEARNING for the princess. Killian is broody and traumatized. And their dad? 👀 Woof.
Shannon has managed to weave an intricate web of interesting and loveable characters into a story that had me laughing and crying the entire time.
As I read, I could see the love Shannon poured into this book. She put her entire soul into creating this world, the characters and the creatures. I am constantly in awe of her creativity and ability to make me love every single character—even the unhinged ones.
I was in tears by the end. Total, devastated disbelief.
I miss Razareth already. I feel like a part of me is still there with those characters and I can’t wait to go back ✨

I had the wonderful opportunity to recieve an ARC of this book. The story follows to 2 royal sisters and a pair of Bounty Hunter Brothers. The Author shares a timeline of events where you see Monsters, Magic, Yearning, and Family Bonds. While the book is comedic, with fun and feisty banter, she also covers a few hard topics in a beautiful way. This book will make you laugh, hold your breath in anticipation, and make you cry. The way she has the ability to make you really feel each characters emotions really sucks you into the storyline. And while I typically like a deeper prologue to gain more understanding for world building, her skill to explain while she goes keeps you up to speed with each event that plays out. I really enjoyed this book and was a top read of 2026 thus far. If you like Avalon Tower, and Starside, I believe you will find this book worth your time! ❤️

Where do I even start... This book played in my mind like a movie. I am writing this review with full honesty; I am completely heartbroken, and my soul is absolutely shattered. Shannon, I wish I could rate this book a million stars because it truly deserves it. I have NEVER sobbed while reading a book and Daggers Of Mist and Moonlight did just that. That's not the only emotion this book gave me; I laughed, very, very much. Your humor lit up my soul, and it was a feel-good read. The romance was so exciting. It felt like I was experiencing a crush for the first time, and I got to fall in love and witness that love. You also opened up my mind to just how beautiful the world is, made me want to go outside and look at the stars, admire the moon, and, most of all, appreciate life itself. You did a wonderful Job, Shannon, and I can not wait to purchase a copy of your book on release day!

Holy Cow I Loved this book. A great FMC with powers was a breath of fresh air from brooding males it felt like a dark fairy tale and that was super fun.
The Romance was so cute and fun it just left me smiling throughout. Riggs easily makes his way onto the list of great book boyfriends. The triple PoV was really nice, getting that extra insight to what was happening was a cool change from the single/dual PoV I've been reading. The whole adventure from start to finish had me aching to see what was going to happen next and the pacing of the story was pretty much perfect for me even the "slower" parts where we are getting to know the characters felt like it all just flowed together, I was not bored at a single point. The last handful of chapters had me in an emotional frenzy and the ending left me itching for a sequel. Five stars, will definitely be buying a copy to add to the trophy shelf.

I had the honor to read Daggers of Mist and Moonlight while it was being created! This book is unlike any book I have read! It will have you laughing your ass off, to kicking your feet from the yearning, to bawling your eyes out and paying for a therapy session right after! The brilliant author of Daggers of Mist and moonlight ate and left no crumbs. She really put a lot of thought into her work and it’s displayed beautifully!! I am in LOVE with the Whitlock brothers and their banter throughout this book! The romance is top tier and will have you wanting more! I really can’t wait to read her other books and this book is going to be displayed in a glass case once I have the opportunity to purchase a physical copy!! Good work Shannon! I’m proud of you!!!

Writing this while still reeling from the ending.. this book will have you feeling all of the things! I can’t remember the last time I truly laughed at things that were said/thought in a book, or the last time I truly felt the heart ache from one either. There is exceptional character depth and hilarious banter that keeps dialogue lively while providing a solid foundation for their relationships. The world building is great, and it was refreshing to learn about their world without tedious info-dumps and instead, subtly through dialogue. Romantasy readers who love witty banter, intense yearning, brotherly bonds, and a good pull on your heartstrings, this book is for you! I cannot wait for book 2!

This book was easily the best book i’ve read! I found myself looking forward to reading it every night & had so much difficulty putting it down. The way this book was written was absolutely beautiful and 100% captivated my attention. At times when i thought i could see what was coming a plot twist would happen and completely change everything! if you’re wanting to read a mysterious, heartfelt, tear jerking, funny, and leaves-you-wanting-more kind of book i cannot recommend this one enough!! The ending left me wanting book 2 right then & now! 🩷🩷
