Something's Gotta Give

Rate this book
Chance Coalson loves women. And they love him. Young or old, no woman is immune to his charm.
Except one.
Georgia Haines is the only female volunteer firefighter in Grafton. She’s had a crush on Chance Coalson since he offered her his handkerchief at her momma’s funeral. But she’s smart enough to know that it takes a special woman to tame a charmer like Chance, and there’s nothing particularly special about her.
When fire breaks out at the Coalson’s construction business and Chance is trapped inside, Georgia braves the flames to save him, only to discover her “crush” has morphed into love. And she’s helpless to hide her desire.
Chance awakens to find an angel breathing life into his lungs with a kiss. The woman he wanted more than any other was the one who paid the “Casanova of the County” no mind.
So how does a man with a bad reputation convince a shy firefighter that he’s worth taking a chance on love?
By fighting fire with fire…..

My Review:

I continue to be enamored with Maggie Adams after finishing book three in her amusing and clever series that continues to garner my attention with an interesting mystery, entertaining storyline, sweet love stories, steamy sensual scenes, and endearing characters. I hope Ms. Adams extends the series by adopting even more Coalsons. She has me hooked.

I hadn't heard of this author until I signed up for the blog tour. I love finding new authors through tour hosts, especially when they have several books out:)

This is the third book in this series. Each book in the series revolves around one of the Coalson brothers. This is Chances story. When Chance meets Georgia sparks fly. However Georgia is reluctant to trust any man. Will Chance break down those walls?

Have I mentioned Georgia's a firefighter??? Oh yes:)

A great romantic story with a suspenseful theme running through it. I really enjoyed this story. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Content warning: only LGBTQ+ character is "psycho"

I had hope for this. Chance, while outwardly a player, seemed the most thoughtful in previous books.

And really, all was going well. Georgia was a sweet woman who ran a daycare centre with her adopted mother, while also doing a host of other things, like being a volunteer firefighter. Chance had a past, but once he set his sights on Georgia, he was totally devoted to her, striving to prove himself by helping her at her daycare while she was recuperating from a sprained ankle. All lovely and pleasant and heart-warming…

But then he accidentally walks in on Georgia topless, and instead of being a decent person and turning away quickly to give her privacy, he tells her to stop covering herself, then kisses her without consent and tells her how he’s going to touch her. He makes her suck his finger while telling her that one day, she will have his dick in her mouth.

As expected, Sam was a douchebag, just making things worse. He tells Chance to treat Georgia like a submissive, despite having no clue about being a dom. You can’t engage in BDSM without open discussion and trust. To be clear, I do enjoy BDSM stories when written well, when they depict true respect. (I have to say this because I previously didn’t like a BDSM story, and the author found my review and said I only didn’t like it because I don’t like BDSM.) But this…this was just more macho alpha BS.

“I am not talking about playing. I am talking about you being a damn dom. You go in there. You take care of her. You tell her what she needs to know. You hold her. You make love to her. You don’t give her any choice in the matter.”

So what does Chance do? Chance goes over there, demands that Georgia takes off her clothes, SHE SAYS NO and to BACK OFF, but he pushes her. How was I supposed to enjoy otherwise good sexy times when it was initiated without consent? Nope.

Let’s not even get started on the Crazy Lesbian. Yup. There was a “crazy lady” who loved her best friend and decided to act out in revenge, mumbling nonsense the whole time. Of course, the only LGBTQ+ character in this series (so far) has to be a “psycho”. Nope again.

The narration was… dull. I feel terrible saying this about someone’s voice, but it really did not help this book’s case. The voice could put me to sleep. In fact, I did actually listen one night with a sleep timer on for 8 minutes, and I was out in half that time. The narrator’s “man voice” was pretty cringeworthy, too, detracting from Chance’s appeal.

There wasn’t much about the secondary plot running through the series in this one, aside from actual repetition of scenes from book 2. That is, until getting to the epilogue. Instead of an epilogue about the couple, a random scene is thrown in about some new characters and Sam’s own investigations into the mystery. It completely threw me. And honestly, this is it. I’m done. I’ve now read the first three books, and I’m just… finished.

The story of Chance and Georgia (aka Peaches).
Chance works with his brothers at their construction company.
Georgia is a volunteer firefighter and during the day runs a daycare for kids with the woman that helped to raise her (Missy Dee).
Since I have now read the prior two books, I know that all three in the series basically run concurrently. We first meet Georgia in the end of book 1 when she helps (as a firefighter) to save Chance from a fire at his company headquarters. While giving him mouth-to-mouth, he rouses enough to kiss her before she storms off.
Chance is woven subtly through the other two books, and Georgia takes a larger role in book 2 as Angel's friend.
Georgia is curvy and apparently always has been, and dealt with bullying girls throughout school (the worst of these girls still live in the same small town). With her father abandoning her and her mother, and her mother's death, she has serious abandonment issues, plus severe self-esteem issues. She's been in love with Chance since he comforted her at her mother's funeral (she was 14, he was 20).
Chance is known as the "Casanova of the county", and has been with several women - including the one that bullies Georgia the most. So Georgia can't figure out why Chance suddenly shows an interest in her. She assumes he feels he owes her a debt for saving his life during the fire.
As with all the prior books, dangerous things happen that cause protective instincts in the would-be mates.
One stereotype I have not enjoyed in the series is that boys will be boys (as in - they've slept with tons of women), while the women are virgins. In this day and age, I'd like them to be on even ground.
The last chapter had me stumped though. The entire story is (at times) told in third person omnipotent, but the last chapter did not have the two main characters at all in it. It involves a few other brothers of Chance's, and has a bit to do with the vandalism that is plaguing the Coalson brothers construction business. It introduces a few women for those brothers, but the author had already set up for a completely different brother (one not in this chapter) to be the next story. Since all stories are running mostly concurrently, I feel that last bit should be left out to go in a book involving one of those brothers instead.
Overall, I have enjoyed the series, and will definitely be up for the next book!

***5 Star Review***

Georgia Haines has lived a tough life. Her father left her mother shortly after he found out she was pregnant and her mother passed away from cancer when Georgia was just a young girl. She has always felt that she wasn't good enough for anyone just like her mother wasn't good enough for her father. She assumes that if she was ever able to grab a man's attention, she wouldn't be able to hold it forever. Especially a man like Chance Coalson.

Chance Coalson has always been able to get any girl he could ever want without having to try very hard. But they were never able to keep his attention for very long. Just long enough for a bit of fun and for a long time that was all he was after or cared about. That is until Georgia Haines pulls him out of a fire and has to resuscitate him and he turns that into a heated and passionate kiss, one that neither are able to forget.

Georgia assumes that all men are just like her father and won't stay around forever. Chance realizes that Georgia is the one for him but with his less than stellar past with women, it is going to be hard to prove his true feelings and intentions. Along with trying to win over Georgia, Chance is also trying to work with his brothers to find out who is involved in the arson and vandalism of their properties.

This was a great continuation of the Tempered Steel Series. Most of this book ran parallel to Leather and Lace. My heart went out to Georgia so much because all she wanted was to be loved and she felt that she just wasn't good enough for that. All because she didn't have the "perfect" body. What she couldn't understand was she had the "perfect" body for Chance. Each book in this series has left me wanting more and I can't wait for the next book in this series. Really enjoying the romance with a bit of mystery/suspense thrown in.

After meeting Chance in the previous books in the series I couldn't wait to read about the Coalson romeo....

Chance and Georgia were fab... This is definitely my favourite book of the 3 so far!!

Georgia has felt alone and abandoned for most of her life and her trust and belief in people to stay with her is understandably lacking.... Even though she has loved Chance for years she can't believe he would ever be interested in her.
Following an accident, she finds herself laid up and in need of help which comes in an unexpected package!!

We knew that Chance was a bit of a lad but following the fire-raising incident earlier in the series it was quickly apparent that our romeo was turning over a new leaf! When he finds out that Georgia needs help he instantly steps up - even though he has no real idea of what he's set himself up for... but at the same time, he is determined to use this time to make the gal he loves believe in him, see a different side to him and give him a chance (pardon the pun!!)

A shortage of confidence and the meddling of a couple of green eyed monsters has the possible relationship floundering before our couple even have a chance to see if it can go anywhere!

More intrigue follows the troubles that the Coalsons have been encountering but I got the feeling that we might find out who is behind the vandalism and problems soon.

Maggie Adams has a great series on her hands and I'm excited to see what the next instalment brings.

I received an ARC of the book for an honest review - I have to say that I love the series so much that I have now purchased the 3 books in the series so far!!

This is the third book in Maggie Adams Tempered Steel Series. I have read all three and they get better each time. The series is about the Coalson Men who own and run a Construction Company. I love a series that has brothers involved and each book has its own story but the entire family continues on in each book. Now the Coalson have someone who wants to destroy them and their company so they are dealing with arson, and trying to protect all whom they loved while trying to figure out who was after them.
This was the story of Chance and Georgia, They have know each other for years loved each other for years but life events and Georgia's childhood haunted her she could not get over the way her dad treated her mom. It was very hard for her to trust in love. The love Chance wanted to give to her. She could not understand how a man like him could love a women like her. She loved him but she was scared and Chance had a past. He knew she was the one but to get her to get over her fears was no easy task. Do they get their HEA you will have to read it to find out, what they went through and where they ended up.
I will say the book came to an abrupt ending not stopping where I thought it would or should, but I am not a writer either. I enjoyed the book very much and look forward to the next one in the series.

Not so secret crushes, love unrequited, passion, just some of the words that would best describe this book.
Georgia has lived a life where she has felt loss, from the loss of a father that left her to the mother that died. Worst of all would be the lesson that was left from her mothers passing... All men leave, don't give them your heart. So she lives in solitude and unconnected to any man lest of all the one she craves the most.. Chance.
Chance Colson always gets what he wants and what he wants more than anything is Georgia. The shy woman that no only saved his life she captured his heart and won't let go.
Sparks fly as Chance tries to win his woman but her stubborn streak make life more difficult than it has to be for the both of them.
This is a book that has you at the edge of your seat to see how he will win her over and what she will do once it all boils down to her happiness and his.
Danger and excitement surround the Colson men and now Chance has to protect the woman that has rejected him over and over again. How will it all end? Well I'll tell you that reading the outcome of this book is so much more than just getting to the end, it is a journey to a life that can be amazing if they just stop and see what is in front of them. His dirty mouth will keep you entranced and her stubbornness will have you yelling at you readers. In the end you will have fallen inlove with Chance and Georgia more than when you began reading.

Chance Coalson is the resident playboy, as no woman seems to be able to resist his charm. Until her. Georgia Haines has had a thing for Chance since her mother's funeral. But she's convinced herself he would never be happy with a woman like her, so she won't open herself up because it would destroy her when he left. She's the only female volunteer firefighter, and when fire breaks out at the Coalson's construction site, she goes against her boss, and braves the flames to rescue Chance. Now she's realizing that her crush has turned into love. The problem she now faces, is Chance wants her but her demons won't let her entertain the thought of them together. How will Chance convince her to take a chance on him?!

WOW! This series just keeps getting better and better. Character development is fantastic, and this colorful family never has a dull moment as the amazing cast of secondaries. The chemistry is off the charts sexy, and leads to SMOKIN' HOT sexy scene goodness guaranteed to ruin panties. Maggie Adams' diabolical writing style has layered her twists and turns, making it impossible to even guess who is behind all the chaos and danger. I'm at the point where I'm just screaming f-bombs instead of OMG! Her angst level has my dramatic girly girl emotions threatening to explode out of me. Do yourself a solid and get started on this awesome series! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

4 1/2 Stars....

Something's Gotta Give is book 3 of the Tempered Steel series by Maggie Adams. It tell the love story of Chance Coalson and Georgia Haines.

Georgia is a volunteer firefighter in Grafton. When she was 14 Chance showed her kindness at her momma's funeral by giving her his handkerchief which lead to her developing a major crush on him. Years later a fire breaks out at the Coalson’s construction business and Chance gets trapped inside. Georgia goes in to save him and learns that somewhere along the years her crush had turned to love.

I love these books. They are such fun, sweet, tender and romantic stories that really bring out your emotions when you read them. Ms. Adams is an incredible writer with a gift of truly writing from the heart. Her books make you smile, laugh, cry, believe in love and that happy ever after not only really exist but is also obtainable. Her characters are unique, wholesome, sexy, feisty, well defined and engaging. You can't help but get hooked into their lives and feel apart of their world. This book, this series is without a doubt enjoyable to read. I highly recommend it for you to read.

Tempered Steel Series reading order.....

1. Whistlin' Dixie
2. Leather and Lace
3. Something's Gotta Give

I adored Chance and Georgia's story immensely. Maggie Adams has once again managed to write a romantic story with sexy scenes and witty dialogue. Even better is the mystery of who is out to get the Coalson Family that she has managed to weave throughout the series. Chance is hotness on a stick (let's be honest, all of the Coalson boys are) and Georgia is just absolutely sexy even though she doesn't know it. I love that Maggie brings all of the characters together in her books, everyone is involved no matter if their story has been told already or not. I love seeing the characters evolve throughout this series.

Maggie's writing continues to shine the more books she writes. Usually with an author who writes multiple books in a row, you tend to see them lose steam or the timelines are messed up somewhere along the way, but this is not the case with Maggie. Each book in the Tempered Steel series continues to get better and better.

I can't wait to read the next book in the Tempered Steel series. Not just for the characters, the story, or to get more answers to the mystery. All that aside, I love the recipes that Maggie places in the back of each book in honor of a character. This one had a recipe for Chance's Meatball Stew that I just cannot wait to try.

Please keep the stories coming, Maggie, so that I can keep on reading them!

* * ARC given on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * *

ok I am a little bias with this author but omg, the Tempered Steel series just keeps getting better and better. Chance is holy hotness and knows it, but you don't care , not at all, which is why I love Georgia she's immune to the Coalson men charm, well maybe, but yeah okay not but she doesn't show it, cause truth she's crushef on Chance for forever and feels she doesn't offer enough to tame THE CHANCE.
Chance becomes trapped inside the construction business when a fir breaks out and Georgia puts her big girl panties on and tackles the Flames to save him, but while saving him it hits her that her crush has turned into so much more.
When Chance comes to he sees the that his wanted more than anything , the one who could was immune to his charm. Boy oh boy his job of proving his self will not be easy, but it was awesome to read. This book was fun to read, I had ton of emotions. I definitely recommend reading the whole series in order. Maggie never disappoints. awesome job.

Something's Gotta Give by Maggie Adams is the perfect mix quick whit and steam. It is the third installment in the Tempered Steel Series. I love this series and this book was a great installment.
Chance is a charmer, and he charmed his way into my heart in Leather and Lace. He continued to make me swoon in Something's Gotta Give.

You can't but root for Chance, he is so sweet, and there is defiantly great chemistry between him and Georgia. The Coalson family's saga continued and I think we are getting closer to culprit to their problems.

Georgia thinks she can resist Chance but who is she kidding? Who can resist any of these men? Where can we all find one? They are great to their ladies in more ways than one!

Adams has a knack to keep you turning her pagers and you wanting more of the Coalson men. I give Something's Gotta Give 5 stars.

I received a copy of 'Something's Gotta Give' in exchange for my honest review.

Having finished reading 'Something's Gotta Give' today.... I was surprised at how quickly I was drawn into the lives of the Coalson brothers again, it's been a few months since I read the first 2 books of the series. Please read books 1 & 2 of the "Tempered Steel" series before picking up book 3, as they all follow one anothers timelines.

I love how all the brothers are getting there own books, it's Chance's turn in 'Something's Gotta Give'. Chance is recovering well after the fire at the Coalson's Construction offices & he's decided to finally settle down, his choice is Georgia. But Georgia has to fight her past in order to accept love. Also in the background the investigation is still running, but they seem to have a bit of luck in that department. I can't wait to read what happens next in the Coalson's lives, Maggie has me HOOKED!

Something's Gotta Give is book three in the Tempered Steel Series by Maggie Adams. This book is about Georgia (Peaches) and Chance Coalson, and once again readers will not be disappointed with this story. Peaches is a firefighter and daycare provider who just happens to have a long time crush on Chance. She doesn't believe he could ever feel the same way about her. Little does she know that Chance feels head over heels for her. Through a series of events, Chance is in a position to show her just how she feels. Peaches has a very hard time with the thought of letting any male in close enough to touch her heart... I won't give away anything, but you all can read the hotness for yourself and see if either will find a HEA. 4.5/5 stars *** I was provided a copy of this in exchange for my honest review. I gave this book 4.5 stars!

Wow! Another hit in this series! From the determination of Georgia to the antics of Chance = one Hot couple. I immediately fell for this series and each of the characters. I can't wait to see who is behind all of vandalism, murder, arson, and all in the in between.

Chance is determined to get Georgia to fall in love with him but he has a reputation of sleeping around.

Georgia has loved chance since she was 14 but with his reputation and her past can she be able to let go and let Chance love her?

Maggie has once again blew me away. Can't wait to read Lucky story and see who is behind it all.

After spending two and half days reading Whistlin Dixie, Leather, and Lace, and Something's Gotta Give the Minx left me with a cliffhanger!

Met Maggie Adams at a release party for Melody Dawn's first book! Maggie appeared to be a sweet, fun author, that I was intrigued to know. I purchased her books, then began the process of reading them, she didn't mention that it was a series about SEVEN brothers! She is driving me crazy, and I'm not so sure when the next book is being release! The story is totally BRILLIANT, and I need to know what happens, you just can't let your readers stew with anticipation or can you? Well done, Ms. Adams, well done.

OMG! Maggie did it again! Another Coalson brother to fall in LOVE with! Except he's the "Casanova of the County". This is the 3rd book in her series & there is nothing negative to say about the Coalson family! I like how this story's timeline is also in-between Angel & Sam's story. I love the shy Georgja, she tries to fight her feelings for Chance. She has a fight inside her she has to win to prove she can love not everybody will leave her. I enjoyed Missy Dee's advice & the way she saw life & Georgia.

What an interesting storyline of two people who bond at a young age. Georgia was brought up in Missy Dee’s foster home after her mother passes away. She vows never to be a burden to her or anyone like she felt she was to her dad and that’s why he couldn’t be faithful or stay with her mom. So, at a young at she started erecting walls against all men but secretly loved Chance.

When she saves Chance from a fire as a volunteer firefighter that night she realizes it is not just a crush she loves him. Which scares the hell out of her. So, after some time recouping Chance decides to go hang out at daycare she and Missy Dee have. When she sprains her ankle he jumps at the Opportunity to be around her more because the fire made this playboy know who he wants full time in his life. He just never counted on fifteen young kids taking him out so fast. How does she do it every day?

They do become closer then... you’ll have to read. Georgia takes everything over the top which can get a little much but the other characters even it out.

I have previously said this was a standalone read but the further you get into the series the more it shows you really do need to read the books in order. Not only that but I noticed the time frames of each novel kinda over lap so the author ends up repeating part of the story from the previous book so some of it's repetitive. In this one it's all about Georgie and Chance. He is the town man whore who has secretly been in love with you got it and she is the shy low self esteem girl who has loved him since she was 14. Chance steps up to do what needed to get her attention but she's running scared. But when bullets start flying and the threats now extend not just to the brothers but to everyone they care for the suspense, intrigue and twist just keep coming. Country Raisin’

Robust and rowdy makes for continuous enjoyable reading!! Take a bit of love and some suspense and you got some great reading. Lots of different relationships, town busybodies and a whole lot of mystery.

This is book three in Tempered Steele Series. I was rooting for Chance and Georgia through the whole book. I did not expect some of what happened in the storyline. Loving this series more and more.

This series just gets better and better! Such a great story! The Fiery Firefighter is no match for the Casanova of the county! I loved it! Maggie tells an amazing story!

SPOILERS
Wasn’t sure I wanted to read this after the last book but I do want to know who the baddie/saboteur is.
Unfortunately, very little happens in regards to the background story about the family problems as this book overlaps timeline wise with book two. We do get a person named as a teaser for the next book.
We once again get a heroine with no self-worth and low self-esteem, who lets her very young childhood define her life. She was a little girl when her mother died, how is she still harbouring all that crap that she apparently overheard and saw from her parents.
I really turned off when Georgia was planning to leave, pregnant with Chances child.
Chance is a player and deserves some distrust from Georgia as to why he has changed his tune but when he listened to Sam’s advice about how to treat Georgia, I was pretty much done.
He is also just as stupidly stubborn and intractable as his brothers.
Jumping to conclusions, not listening to the heroine.
After telling Georgia she can take her time to think and he will be waiting for her as he will love her forever, we get (“So you go on. But you know this - I will love you until the day I die. But I’m a man and I need a woman and I’ll find one. She won’t be you, she’ll never be you, but I want kids. I want a family and I am brave enough to go out and get what I want.”)
What a patient prince. This is after she walks in to find another woman in his arms kissing him.
Read in the box set through Kindle Unlimited.
I won’t be reading any more of this series no matter that someone has been pinpointed for the problems, or how much I want to know the why of him being behind the problems and threats.
I cannot take any more weak-willed women and these brothers are certainly not real men, more like inconsiderate bullies.
Read in the box set through Kindle Unlimited.
