Swedish tennis heartthrob Lukas Froebel has won grand slams and gold medals, but one achievement eludes him — the triple crown awarded to a player who wins the singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles at a single championship.

Hannah Greer was once America's darling until her tennis career, and life, completely blew up at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. Despite the odds, she is determined to claw her way back.

But returning to top form isn't easy. So when a star coach offers to help her, Hannah reluctantly agrees. The catch? She'll have to play mixed doubles with none other than Lukas Froebel, the brother of her biggest rival.

A swoony slowburn friends-to-lovers tennis romance perfect for fans of Meg Jones and Chelsea Curto.

Thank you to The Berry Agency and Abra Pressler for the opportunity to receive, read and review an ARC of Love Means Nothing. As always before jumping into any book, please take care of yourselves and always check the author's socials for any and all trigger warnings. FYI, there might be spoilers ahead.

A romance set on the tennis tour between two players that start as frenemies to friends to mixed doubles partners to lovers! This story follows tennis champions Hannah and Lukas. Hannah, a strong, driven and dedicated FMC on a comeback journey and Lukas who has a bit of a bad reputation and arrogance about him but is actually a genuinely supportive and kind MMC.

Right off the bat, as a fan of watching tennis and as someone who keeps up to date with the tennis tour, this felt so well researched and believable. The tennis locations, the on court POV, the scoring, the pre and post match explanations were all so fun to read. I think the author did a wonderful job of highlighting the highs and lows of a sport, especially when a sport like tennis can be quite isolating.
I found the main characters to be likeable and I especially loved how driven our FMC Hannah was towards her craft, and found her ambition inspiring. I appreciated how Lukas, whilst he can come across a bit arrogant, is actually a super gentle, attentive and understanding MMC who is protective of not only Hannah but his circle too. I thought the spice was the right amount and added to the main characters' overall tension and yearning. I did find the ending was a bit rushed and maybe would have liked another POV from Lukas regarding the conflict.

Overall this was a fun, easy read that was enjoyable in the moment. There was nothing that absolutely stood out to me and there was nothing I would specifically add, but it was still entertaining whilst I was reading it.

Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ .5/ 5
Spicy Rating: 🌶️🌶️ / 5

ARC Review ~

I was immediately hooked by the prologue! Locked in. How fast can I read this, because I wanted it in my brain yesterday. Abra Pressler’s writing is such a joy to read! It is engaging, well-paced, thoughtful, sensitive, humorous, and relatable; I could go on and on.

I loved the journey that Pressler took me on with Lucas and Hannah. Hannah, is recovering from revenge porn from an ex, and Lukas is carrying the weight of his father’s mistakes as a teenager. Hannah and Lukas team up to become mixed doubles partners - Lukas with hopes of winning three titles, and Hannah, to improve her rankings and game as she returns to the sport after a break.

I really felt the personal and relationship growth of Hannah and Lukas; the slow burn, the yearning, and falling in love with each other a little every chapter. I appreciated that the characters were true to their depiction as well. Lukas was a douche! He says douchey things to Hannah, has a huge ego, but she calls him on it. Hannah is such an incredibly strong FMC too. What an inspiring character to read about.

Notable mentions:
🎾 Lukas & Gabriel’s friendship ♥️
🎾 The mug 🤣
🎾 The burgundy Birkin bag 💀

I only know the very basics of tennis, however I thoroughly enjoyed the tennis storyline and I was cheering along by the end *fist pump*

If you haven’t read a tennis romance yet, let this one be your first one!

Love, Means Nothing 🎾 0️⃣

This cute read is a great palate cleanser, tennis is not really a world I read much about so I found it to be quite interesting!
Thank you so much to The Berry Agency for providing me an advanced copy in return for my honest review.

A dual POV, meet Hannah and Lukas. Hannah is trying to rebuild her career after a crushing scandal with her ex. Lukas is the charming Swedish tennis star who is seeking the elusive “triple crown” . Both have secrets in their past they don’t want to come to light.

A mixture of enemies-to-lovers / friends-to-lovers slow burn with forced proximity. Sporty court-side banter, and an arrogant hero who is determined to win the girl.

I felt the pacing at the start was a bit slow, but once I hit halfway I couldn’t put it down!

Love me a sports romance, and this was a match perfect story!

Swedish tennis player Lucas Froebel has been longing to complete the ‘triple crown’ which is awarded when a player wins singles, doubles and mixed doubles at a single tournament

When his twin Freja drops out of the upcoming mixed doubles tournament, his triple crown plans are squashed.

American singles tennis player Hannah Greer is hoping for a comeback, after having to drop back from the tennis world after her ex leaked a sex tape that sent her into a scandalous limelight. She has grown cautious of trusting anyone, but is willing to put in the work to make it

When the suggestion is floated for Lucas and Hannah to team up, Lucas is keen to give it a go, Hannah on the other hand has reservations about playing with her rivals brother, but reluctantly agrees

What follows is a swoon worthy, fun and perfectly paced romcom. The sport mixed with a slow burn friendship romance is on point

I loved both Hannah and Luke, and loved their dual POVs. While both are elite sportspeople, they have a softer side that shines in Abra’s writing

My first book by Abra and I can’t wait to read more!

Thank you so much to the author for my gifted review copy 🫶

Thank you for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Love Means Nothing!

It was such a fun and easy read, and I especially loved the text exchanges between Hannah and Lukas — they were so cute!

I really appreciated that Hannah has her own athletic career and ambitions. It was refreshing to see the female lead be just as involved in the sporting world rather than the story focusing solely on the male athlete. I also loved the friendship between Hannah and Bronte, their relationship was such a lovely part of the book.

And Lukas was definitely a green flag! He was sweet, supportive and very easy to root for.

Overall, I had a really enjoyable time reading Love Means Nothing and loved the combination of romance, sport and friendship.

Love Means Nothing
Abra Pressler — ARC Review
⭐⭐⭐½ (3.5 stars — fun, enjoyable, exactly what it promised, and sometimes that is precisely enough)
🌶️🌶️ Spice — open door, present, mild by dark romance standards but warm by everyone else's, the balance is correct
Thank you to The Berry Agency and Abra Pressler for the ARC. As always — check the author's socials for trigger warnings before diving in. And yes, there may be spoilers ahead. You've been warned.

The Setup
A romance set on the tennis tour between two players — frenemies to friends to mixed doubles partners to lovers, which is a trajectory I support completely and which this book commits to with full conviction. Hannah is a strong, driven, dedicated FMC on a comeback journey. Lukas has a reputation and an arrogance about him that turns out to be significantly more complicated than advertised. Both of them are athletes. Both of them are competing at the highest level. Neither of them is going to compromise their career for the other and the book understands that and respects it and I loved it for that specific reason.

What I Liked
The tennis. The locations, the on-court POV, the scoring, the pre and post match breakdowns — all of it was genuinely fun to read in a way that sports romance doesn't always manage when the sport itself is the backdrop rather than the point. Here the sport is the point and Abra Pressler clearly knows what she's talking about and the result is a world that feels textured and real. Tennis can be an isolating sport and this book highlights that with care and I appreciated the honesty of it.
The text exchanges between Hannah and Lukas. So cute. Genuinely, unironically, stop-and-reread-them cute. The kind of texts that make you look up from your book and feel briefly sad about your own phone notifications.
Hannah having her own athletic career and ambitions that exist entirely independently of Lukas — this should not be as refreshing as it is in sports romance and yet here we are. She is not the love interest of an athlete. She is an athlete who also has a love interest and the distinction matters enormously to the reading experience.
The friendship between Hannah and Bronte was one of the loveliest parts of the book and I want that acknowledged separately from the romance because it deserved to be its own thing and it was.
Lukas — green flag MMC who knows he's messed up, wants to actually be better rather than just saying he wants to be better, and is sweet and supportive in ways that sneak up on you. A man who fucks up, owns it, and does the work. That's it. That's why he works. It shouldn't be rare and it is and I'm grateful every time it shows up.

The Honest Part
It started a little rocky for me — the first 50 pages or so finding their footing before the book settled into itself and started doing what it clearly knew how to do. Once it found its stride it didn't lose it again and that recovery was fast enough that the rocky start becomes a footnote rather than a complaint.
Nothing absolutely stood out. Nothing needed to be added or removed. It was entertaining throughout and enjoyable in the moment in a way that is genuinely its own category of recommendation — not every book needs to rearrange your furniture. Sometimes a book just needs to be a good time and this was a good time.

Tropes
Frenemies to lovers via the mixed doubles partnership pipeline — correct and specific. Female athlete as lead rather than accessory — refreshing and correct. It's complicated as a status that doesn't actually have to be — accurate and relatable. Emotional sports world with real stakes. Side characters who feel like actual people rather than plot furniture. All present. All working.

The Rec
If you are a fan of emotionally fraught love-hate dynamics and technical sports worlds — this is your next read. The balance of fun light hearted romance and careful handling of the more serious themes is one of Pressler's strengths and it shows throughout.

Final Verdict
A fun, easy, well constructed tennis romance that gave me everything it promised and didn't overpromise anything it couldn't deliver. Hannah knows her worth. Lukas knows he needs to do better. The texts are adorable. The tennis is good. The friendship is underrated. The spice is warm without being overwhelming.
Sometimes a book is exactly the right read at exactly the right time and this was that.

4.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Synopsis
After her ex-boyfriend shares intimate content of her without her consent, tennis star Hannah Greer steps away from the sport she loves for two years. Now, she’s ready to make her comeback but returning to the court means facing the past she’s been trying to leave behind.

Then Lukas Froebel approaches her with an unexpected proposition: become his mixed doubles partner. There’s just one problem… Hannah is also his sister Freyja’s biggest rival. As Hannah and Lukas spend more time together, their partnership begins to blur the lines between friendship, competition and something much more.

My Review
I was hooked from the very beginning! I absolutely loved the characters and found myself genuinely invested in Hannah’s journey, especially as she worked towards rebuilding her confidence and finding her place in the tennis world again.

The tennis storyline was one of my favourite parts of the book. I loved how much of the story centred around the sport rather than it simply being a backdrop for the romance. The competition, pressure and determination made the story feel exciting and kept me turning the pages.

And of course, the romance! The chemistry between Hannah and Lukas was so much fun to read, and I loved watching their relationship develop. There was a great balance of friendship, tension, vulnerability and swoony moments.

Overall, Love Means Nothing was such a fun, heartfelt and addictive read. I loved the characters, the tennis, and the romance, and I genuinely didn’t want to put it down. 4.5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

thank you to berry agency and Abra Pressler for the advanced reader copy.

let’s just start by saying what a good title. love does in fact mean nothing when your on the court, the tennis court that is

a book that has;
a man who fucks up but knows it, and actually wants to be better. hot.
a woman who knows her worth, stays true to herself and her boundaries. hot.
a pairing that is the definition of it’s complicated but it doesn’t have to be. hot.

it started off a little rocky for me but found its stride easily within the first 50 pages. it’s a super fun textured world, with side characters that feel like real people. in my opinion mild spice, but it was open door. Pressler has such a great balance of fun light hearted romance and special care handling the more serious themes. she hasn’t reinvented the wheel of sports romance but this is a very round contribution to the genre. 3.75/5

i think you’d really enjoy this book if you’re a fan of early EmHen and Simone Soltani, basically emotional fraught love hate dynamics and technical sports worlds.

some moments that made my heart twinge in a good way…

“She knows all my dog-eared pages and scribbled margins, knows my tragic twists and, worst of all, my foolish hope that things will all work out in the end, and I’ll get my happily ever after”

“…you love what you had when you were winning. You don’t love tennis. You don’t wake up everyday and want to step onto the court. You wake up everyday and the taste of winning”

overall such a fun read 🎾

Advanced reader copy review of Love Means Nothing by Abra Pressler
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 – I really loved this
🔥🔥🔥 – explicit, open door

Hannah and Lukas. What can I say? I love you both. This book is the best kind of sports romance. (As in: We actually see sport being played, and it’s integral to the plot.) Love Means Nothing had me swooning, tearing up, and demanding love from my partner (sorry not sorry). What a read!

Hannah is making a comeback to professional tennis after over a year off. Lukas is hoping to achieve a ‘triple crown’ before he is forced to retire from the sport. (Triple crown being a singles, doubles, and mixed doubles win in a single tournament.)

Lukas has to find a new partner for mixed doubles and his coach asks Hannah if she’ll do it.

Enter forced proximity between Hannah and Lukas. Training together brings them closer together, at least until Lukas’s massive dick moments. However, Lukas gets apologies right (eventually); he shows Hannah he’s sorry, instead of just saying the words. And I am so here for it.

I adored how Hannah and Lukas worked through their problems together, and separately.

I loved the inclusion of tennis games. Each game was written well enough that this non-tennis nerd still understood what was going on.

FWIW: I adored the first book in Pressler’s tennis series, Love and Other Scores. From memory, I also rated that five stars.

Disclaimer: I was not incentivised to read or review. Thank you to Abra Pressler for the ARC.

Slow-burn perfection, on and off the court! 🎾💛

This is the tennis romance I’ve been waiting for, and it absolutely delivered! 🎾✨

Lukas Froebel, Swedish star, grand slam champion, and determined to complete the elusive triple crown, is everything you want in a book boyfriend: talented, driven, and quietly kind, even when he’s putting his foot in his mouth 😂💙 Then there’s Hannah Greer, America’s former darling, rebuilding her career and her confidence after everything fell apart. Pairing her with Lukas, brother of her biggest rival, feels like a recipe for disaster… until it becomes the partnership neither knew they needed 💛

Their journey from wary teammates to friends to something deeper is slow-burn magic at its finest. Every practice, every match, every quiet moment off the court builds that connection so beautifully. You feel Hannah’s fear and resilience, stepping back into the spotlight after being burned so badly, and Lukas’s steady admiration that grows from respect into something so much deeper. He doesn’t just want to win with her; he wants to see her shine again 🥹❤️

The tennis feels authentic and immersive, the banter is warm and real, and the slow-burn ache is absolutely delicious. It’s about second chances, finding your rhythm with someone who sees your worth, and realising that “love means nothing” in tennis… but it means everything in life 🎾💕

Perfect for fans of sports romance that balances heart, healing, and a swoon-worthy slow burn! ✨

Thank you The Berry Agency and Abra Pressler for the advanced reader copy of Love Means Nothing (9/15/2026)!
Abra Pressler is a new author to me, but I never miss an opportunity to read a tennis romance!
What I enjoyed most about this book was the balance of sports talk with deeper, more emotional topics. Yes, there was a lot of tennis jargon throughout the book, but the author also tackled topics such as revenge pornography and the emotional trauma caused by a parent. I loved that Hannah remained resilient and optimistic throughout her character arc, even while facing adversity and difficult challenges. It was also hard not to love Lucas, especially with how obsessed he was with Hannah and how he continually went out of his way to help and support her.
I also really appreciated the dynamics between the secondary characters. Hannah and Bronte’s friendship and Lucas and Gabriel’s friendship both highlighted the importance of having people in your corner who love and support you. I especially loved the scene between Hannah and Bronte at Hermès—it felt like such a genuine friendship moment.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of Abra Pressler’s work. You really can’t go wrong with a tennis romance, especially with the US Open starting!

This arc was sent to me and I'm leaving my review voluntarily.

Absolutely LOVED every chapter. I thought 'hmm I have absolutely no idea how tennis is played and the terms, so I prolly would quit reading it halfway'

I DID NOT.

Hannah is the type of FMC that has you hooked. She's not weak or timid useless. Even when people close to her, people who she thought of as family betrayed and abandoned her, she didn't give it all up. She didn't throw all her life's work away and hide in a corner. With the help of her best friend, Bronte, she made a comeback.

Lukas is a golden retriever through and through. He cares about his people. His sister, his coach, his publicist and friends. Even when the biggest lie and burden is weighing him down, he stands strong under it all. Until he can't. Because he cares too much about his loved ones to let them all suffer because of him.

But LukAh come out stronger than ever.

I'm absolutely dying for Freja's story.

Loved the book. The game element did not take away from the spice and vice versa. It's just the perfect amount of everything.

Thank you to The Berry Agency for the opportunity to read this as an ARC!

I love a sports romance that actually includes the sport and Love Means Nothing had plenty of tennis action. After reading I may have to start watching tennis.

It's so refreshing to see a fmc like Hannah have her own ambitions and established career before meeting the mmc aka Lukas. I loved how after becoming friends and later being with Lukas, only made her ambitions bigger. Hannah and Bronte's friendship was so fun to read and highlighted just how important it is to have someone in your corner when things are hard.

I love a man that not only knows when he's done something wrong but shows he's sorry through actions instead of just saying it. Lukas is the perfect example of this. His determinaiton to achieving a triple crown and seeing how his partnership with Hannah developed was so fun to read. He really is such a green flag.

Throughout the book we get a real glance into both Hannah and Lukas difficult past and Abra did such a good job at including these complex themes into the story. Not to mention all the tennis language which was made so easy to understand.

Rivalries, scandals, novelty mug appreciation, freakishly deft mechanical bull riding, doubles partners to smoking hot lovers - this book has it all!

And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t know the first thing about tennis.

I gratefully gobbled this book up in a couple of sittings, enjoying the balance of light humour and witty banter, expertly threaded with deep and dark concepts that don’t sugarcoat the effects of abuse.

It’s hard not to fall in love with both Hannah and Lukas, with their hyper competitiveness and awkwardness - they are a match made in heaven. I’d also like to shout out Hannah’s bestie Bronte - who is a real one and deserves all the flowers and luxury bags :)

Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a raunchy romance that makes you laugh and invites you into the world of those striving to perform at the top of their game - and finding love while doing what they love.

Note: I am writing this review ahead of publication thanks to an advance copy from the author.

**DISCLAIMER: I received an ARC in exchange for a fair, unbiased review**

I loved this book so much. I am a massive tennis fan, so that was an instant draw card for me, as was the fact I could just tell that the author was a fellow Aussie, even before I looked her up.

The chemistry between Lukas and Hannah was apparent from the beginning, but I appreciated how they also genuinely liked each other and spent time getting to know each other as friends and team mates. It wasn’t insta-love, even once they started hooking up. And Lukas is an amazing book boyfriend! Owning up to his mistake, making amends, thinking about Hannah's needs.

I can muster only the tiniest bit of criticism, which is that the "rival's older brother" angle was a tiny bit flat/forced - Hannah and Freyja didn't actually have any animosity towards one another. But I did love Freyja, and the other cast of supporting characters, especially Juan and Gabriel.

My sincere thanks to the author for providing me with an advanced copy of Love Means Nothing in exchange for an honest review. It was my privilege to read this lovely story that follows on from Gabriel and Noah’s story.

I totally devoured this. Hannah and Lukas are just a delight. Their histories, motivations and fears were deftly woven throughout the dual POV, and it was so easy to become invested in both of them.

I love that the author doesn’t shy away from complex themes. I could feel both characters aching with what they’d been through, and the ways in which their love for each other (and for tennis) soothed those parts of their souls. Even had a little tear at the end! Thank you, Abra!

Read if you love a sports romance, friends to lovers, and forced proximity via mixed doubles tennis!! 🎾

Thanks so much to the author for sending me a copy. All thoughts are my own.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. I was completely hooked on Lukas and Hannah from the start. I grew so attached to them so quickly and I felt SO many emotions while reading this book.

I adore a slow burn and I was LIVING for the tension, the confused feelings, the push and pull. It was such a delicious ride.

Both characters personal stories were really well fleshed out and were the reason I fell so hard and fast for them. They just tugged at my heart and I loved the way it all played out.

I’m emotional about them, what else can I say?

‘Love Means Nothing’ is a slow burn strangers-to-friends-to-lovers romance set in the world of professional tennis.

It follows singles players Hannah and Lukas, who unexpectedly find themselves signing on as mixed doubles partners, with their relationship slowly developing into something more.

Like most books of this sort, I didn’t know a great deal about the sport before starting, but that’s the beauty of this genre: I didn’t need to, to have a great time!

The tennis was well written, the chemistry on and off the court was off the charts, and overall, this was a really easy, enjoyable read.

Sports romances really seem to be my thing! I haven’t read Abra’s work before but I absolutely loved this book!
Quick easy to read romance that still had depth and explored some heavier topics. I loved all the characters, particularly rooting for our FMC.
There were a few grammatical errors in the ARC that I’m sure will be ironed out for release.
Will definitely read whatever else Abra Pressler brings out!!
This was such a good read!

I go into this without expecting anything but I like this. There's a quite heavy topic that's touched in the sport community which term I've never heard before, so I learned a new thing yeayy. I'm really glad that issues got resolved early on and we don't get any miscommunications at all. Also I think the romance is quite pivotal to the story line and it weaves perfectly. The characters have their own flaws, but they owned it up like a what mature people do. Overall, I like this more than I expect to.

Luke and Hannah were great in this story. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into it. I love a good sports romance, but the tennis just didn’t do it for me. There was nothing that really pulled me in and kept me invested. I felt like I was just reading to read.

I love sports romance but this is my first tennis romance and after reading this book, I am wondering why. It is such a great premise. Mixed doubles is the perfect setting! Close quarters, lots of tension and high stakes. Throw in enemies-to-lovers and it is my perfect book.

The premise of Love Means Nothing is top tier - two tennis stars that need each other in order to get what they want. But both have their own baggage they’re dealing with.

Hannah and Lukas have amazing chemistry as well as being well rounded, nuanced characters. But the tennis scenes were what really blew me away. The tension had me on the edge of my seat. Pressler has obviously researched her subject well and it shows. The behind-the-scenes knowledge was impressive.

There were a few scenes where the author chose cuteness over conflict and I think it let the book down. Hannah and Lukas are both strong individuals and a little more friction would have lifted this book to the next level.

A fun, light read, perfect for summer holidays. I will definitely be reading more of Pressler’s work.

Thank you to the Berry Agency and the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Growing up playing tennis as a kid I knew I wanted to get my hands on this ARC as soon as I heard about it. A romance set on the tennis tour with two players as the main characters? Yes please.

This was such a fun and easy read, and I really enjoyed the combination of romance, tennis, and friendship. I love how well-researched the tennis side of the story was. Hannah, the FMC was driven, ambitious, and completely dedicated to her career, and I really appreciated that she had her own goals and ambitions rather than the story revolving entirely around Lukas and his career. Overall, this was such an enjoyable read, especially for anyone who loves tennis and romance!
