Scrimgeour has penned a gothic horror tragedy for fans of A Dowry of Blood and House of Hunger that will break your heart. A true journey into the dark with a hero that can't help but fall from grace.

Chilling.
Seductive.
Haunting.
Sinister.

The FMC, Alderose, lost everything the day her husband was murdered by a vampire on her wedding day. And now, she travels from village to village, slaying the monsters that lurk in the dark. When she receives a letter, written in human blood, to help free a vampire in exchange for revenge on the monster who stole her life, she can't refuse. It takes her down a path of violence that makes her question her morals. Ultimately, she must decide whether she's willing to barter her soul away for the revenge she desires most. The story offers folklore monsters like grims, redcaps, vampires, and more - with a generous dose of magic and mystery at every twist and turn. The descriptions drew me into a victorian-esque world of haunted manors, cemeteries, quiet villages, and predators lurking in the shadows. As tormented heroine Alderose falls deeper into the dark depravity, I couldn't help but follow, and feel the absolute heartache when she learns the terrible truths.

Warning! This is not a romance and there is no happy ending.
