Surprisingly well written
If you've read this authors previous work then a bit of hesitation and caution is understood. Thankfully unlike this authors first series this is extremely well written and free of many character problems the series Dashing Devil has.
A well written MC who while having trace elements of popular monster hunter tropes like Van Helsing, is refreshingly new and inspired. Cole Vesperwald is stunningly Stoic but not bland, Stern but not domineering, Calculating but not robotic. He's smart and thoughtful and very much a tactician but even when things go his way seldom are they perfect with him suddenly having the answer.
The world building while not fully explored seems well thought out and leaves much to see and lots of mystery into how things work, this makes the side characters and one offs even more intriguing leaving you wanting to see and hear even more of everyone else's story and how they view the events as they unfold.
You can definitely tell that the author spend a good amount of time not only working out many kinks on what could be a convoluted story but also listening to early readers and suggestions to what will and won't work.
My only gripe is that you can see, starting at about 2/3rds of the story old habits die hard and what was a very interesting character in Vivian Valecourt quickly becomes a bit of an eyesore with the constant affection and sexual showings present that would have elicited at minimum a self reflection for following Cole's family creed if nothing more than that's what he's supposed to do.
It becomes visible towards the end when a bit of storytelling and characterization regarding both Cole (the MC) and Vivian the secondary MC gets thrown out the window in favor of just more sexy time and what amounts to fluff.
Overall a very great book and definitely worth the pickup especially with a hopeful sequel along the way. Sadly missed the mark on a full five stars by a hair due to later portions of the book.

I made it 122 pages into this book before I elected to DNF it. I felt zero connection to the MC, or the two women introduced at that point. The plot was moving at a glacial pace, and with the book being 767 pages long, that didn't bode well.
The MC is the last in a long line of monster hunters. Think Van Helsing without any copyright problems. He's getting older, and time and prior injuries are slowing him down. He knows he's maybe got a year or so left before he loses a fight to some monster, so he decides he's finally going to do something about it. And that would be forming some minor pacts with some fantasy beings.
He's known one of the 3 he'd have to form a pact with his whole life. She's a sloth demon living in his basement, being bound to the family line that ends with him. Another will probably be a wolf/fox fae woman. The third, a celestial of some sort, wasn't introduced by the time I bailed on the book.
Between typos, poor punctuation/grammar, and a plot that fell flat, I just couldn't keep reading this book.

genuine one of the best urban fantasy books
This was such a treat to read through, it been a minute since I’ve been so enraptured by a book. I lost hours of sleep because I couldn’t find a good place to put it down and go to sleep, each chapter just made me want to keep going. Honestly cannot wait for the second book and I’m sad I found this series so early. I knew the book was going to be good as I’ve read the authors other series but damn this blew my expectations out of the park.

Fantastic new series
This looks to be another longer series so the first book is a little slow but overall i greatly enjoyed it. The characters are well written and the plot makes sense. The spice was well earned and the MCs relationships progressed naturally. My only note would be that I would like to see more interludes with other characters. I will be waiting for the next one.

One of the best books I’ve read this year
This is a great start to the series and I have no complaints whatsoever. The action, romance, and drama all balanced each other out and created a masterpiece. The only thing that I hope for in the series is that Cole and Anika get together.

Great start
We have a pretty interesting start here to a new series. I feel like all the love interests are shown in the first book and it's just a matter of getting them. Mc is confident but not annoyingly so. A little gruff and standoffish that it almost becomes annoying but then he turns a corner. Very much looking guard to book two.

This was excellent
Believable world, well integrated mythological elements, distinct characters and their development without breaking character or being tropes or throwaways.
Possibly a day early on editing as there were two large missed edits and a few tiny minor issues but won't take a star off this time. Enjoyed the book enough to miss sleep before my work day today.

Great new book series
This is a great new book series. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. The main character goes through a lot of character development. I really look forward to seeing how the other contracts interact with each other and on him.

Freshing addition for the Genre
I'm glad to see such a well written book in this genre after the massive increase in what I can only call slop. The writing reeled me in, the story kept me, and the romance has me eagerly awaiting the next book.

Very good book
This is a fine fantasy harem adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the flower fae. I anxiously await the author's next novel.
