I DNF this book after 30 pages, as there were already numerous continuity errors cropping up in that small number of pages.
The MC is a soldier that's completed 10yrs of service to the crown and wants out before he can become a landed noble. The king grants him a valley that is more forest than anything else. The MC rides his horse and brings a small amount of gear to this wilderness, where he finds the old travel stop the crown had set up probably 100 years prior in disarray and sorely in need of massive repairs. He's just started on those repairs when I bailed due to the continuity errors, which are more glaring since the MC is doing things "in the proper order" yet the errors say otherwise.
He builds a fire in the hearth, then the next morning clears the chimney/flue. He shores up the roof with 4' freshly cut beams of wood. Not sure how a 4' beam is reaching the room. He mentions the rain turned into fog, then later indicates the rain stopped. Fog is not rain, so I'm not sure what he thinks is going on.
That's the point I gave up on this story.

Good Series
A little wordy but overall pretty well written. I would read this author's other books, they did entertain me. Recommended.
