Crownless
Before Caelyn, there was Calvin---crown prince with a thief’s grin, a wicked card game, and a heart stolen by the one person he would risk everything to keep.
While his father rules with cruelty, Calvin works from the shadows to protect the slums he calls home---the only place that has ever felt like his. But when his father tears his love from him and forces him into a royal procession, Calvin expects another spectacle of the crown’s brutality.
Instead, he witnesses something far worse.
The Oricaan beasts.
As monstrous creatures descend upon the slums, slaughtering the people Calvin has fought so desperately to save, the prince is forced to confront a truth far more terrifying than his father’s tyranny.
And when he's given a choice that could cost him everything, Calvin has only one way out that'll save him and the one he loves.

Arc review
“Fate delivers what we need, just when we need it.”
Oh my gosh, this was so good. I loved it so much. It had me feeling so many things and I love Calvin and this was great. I feel very protective over Calvin. He is great and I feel so bad for him. This was truly amazing and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read it. I’m already yearning for more.

✨ Calvin ✨
Beautiful prose from the first page, Chelsea is one of the most gifted fantasy writers that I’ve read in years. You wanna cry? You’re gonna cry. You wanna laugh? You’re gonna! Such immersive storytelling that makes you feel like a character in the book.
All fans of Beneath the Veil of Tides need this book!! Calvin is one of my favorite characters and he shines in his standalone, I was already protective of him and even more so now. And the character art, hand drawn by Chelsea, is so pretty!!
Crownless is Calvin’s story before meeting the crew in Tides, and this is a spoiler free review, but can I wrap him in a blanket please? This is a perfect entry point into the world if anyone wants to begin here and makes me want stories for all crew members if the author is interested 👀
Get this book!! It’s a well written, queer romance and fantasy and Calvin will be anyone’s fave like he is mine, thank you for creating this character 🖤🖤🖤

I would defend this beautiful baby with my life!
I loved this so much, Chelsea never fails at writing an amazing opening chapter and the chapter art is absolutely stunning!
Crownless is packed full of emotion, bittersweet moments, heartbreak and some sensational sass from our main man.
Calvin was one of my favourite characters from Beneath the Veil of Tides so getting this novella was a dream and made me love him so much more.
Thank you so much Chelsea for the arc 🖤

This book definitely is one you won't be able to put down!
Chelsea is a brilliant author.
This book follows the earlier life of Calvin. You really feel the love he has to give. A brilliant book to read

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Similar to Beneath the Veil of Tides, this story has a very well-detail, rich world-building. Crownless could be read as a stand-alone or even as a prequel/introduction to the main duology. I would be interested in reading novellas from the other crew members’ perspectives as well. I found myself easily sympathizing with Benjamin (aka Calvin) and am now super excited to see where his story goes in the next book!

Beneath the Veil of Tides was incredible. Crownless was incredible. Everything this author writes is an absolute work of art!
One of my favourite things about Crownless is how there are subtle links to Tides, and also the relationship between Calvin and his man is written so perfectly. Oh, and Calvih is just THE BEST character. Please write more.
