Review: what a haunting gothic suspense book! I was engrossed in the story the whole time! I was questioning everyone and everything! When I thought it was one thing but in fact wasn’t! The characters were intriguing! However, if I have one complaint? It would be that I wasn’t a big fan of one of the love interests mean while I think I wanted more of the other love interest who I wanted to get to know more of! I won’t name names I don’t like to spoil it for other people! I must commend Amelia Saints writing style it was absolutely perfect! It fit the story so well and I couldn’t get enough of it! The descriptions were on point and I couldn’t picture everything like a movie in my head! That ending? Oh I am anticipating book two and I will be staring at a wall until then!

Thank you so much to Amelia Saints for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful book!

I enjoyed this book, I didn’t know where the mystery was going for most of it. I’m still left with a lot of questions that will hopefully be answered in book 2. I really liked the Crimson Peak vibes. Though I wish the FMC was a bit more proactive rather than stumbling onto things. I was a bit caught off guard by the sudden spice scenes, I didn’t expect them when they happened. I honestly wasn’t the biggest fan of Christian and I do wish we’d spent more time with Kieran. Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this book.

Marissa washes ashore on the beach of Devil’s Bay with no memory of who she was, just a consuming knowledge that someone tried to kill her. And we are trapped right alongside Marissa, trying to unravel the threads of her past while becoming tangled in the confusion of her present. At no point was I predicting where this story would lead us!

This story blends gothic horror with the eerie atmosphere that the genre is known for, but with a modern twist. The mix of past and present keeps the reader twisting around in the sea of secrets that Devil’s Bay holds! So Below As Above holds the reader captive in its mysteries, its horrors, and its gothic romance.

I have so many more things I want to say (especially about that last 20% 😩🖤) but this book’s twists and turns need to be experienced for yourself!

*Thank you to the author for the advanced reviewer copy’! All opinions expressed above are my own.

So Below As Above is a gorgeous debut.

It has the haunting, coastal gothic atmosphere of 'Rebecca' mixed with the dreamlike disorientation of 'Piranesi'. The prose is absolutely beautiful. Just when you think you've managed to find your footing, Saints turns the entire story on its head. Then she does it again. And again. By the end, I had accepted that I knew absolutely nothing, and was having the time of my life.

Each character has a distinct voice and enough complexity that you're never entirely certain who or what to trust. Nothing feels quite as simple as it first appears. You begin the book feeling disoriented and even a little frustrated, much like our protagonist. But as the story unfolds, that confusion becomes part of the experience. There's something particularly special about a book that can make you laugh, break your heart, leave you staring at the page in disbelief, and somehow make you desperate for more. Sometimes all within the same chapter.

The ending leaves you on a slightttt cliffhanger, but you don't leave entirely empty-handed. That said, I need book two immediately.

I received an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

ARC REVIEW 💫

In this gothic romance, a woman washes up on a mad scientist’s beach with no memories of who she was or how she arrived. As she navigates her new reality, she must unravel the truth about both the people and the world around her before it’s too late.

What to expect:
🖤 female rage
🌊 demonic entities
🖤 secrets & betrayal
🌊 an extremely loyal, one-eyed dog

My rating:
5 stars ⭐️
From the moment I picked this book up, I knew I wouldn’t be able to set it down. It’s a beautiful mixture of horror, thriller, dark & gothic romance. There were times I was confused, borderline scared, heartbroken, relieved. Every time I thought I knew who we could trust vs who was dangerous, I was wrong. I couldn’t unravel the FMCs past any better than she could half the time. The MMCs were both devilishly irresistible in their own right. Overall, just a fantastic read, and one hell of a debut from Amelia Saints. She is here to shake the scene up, for sure 😈

This follows Marisa, who loses her memories after nearly drowning, and from the very beginning I was hooked by the atmosphere.

Dark, gothic, eerie... 10/10. This book absolutely nailed the vibe.

Now, I'll be real... I hate love triangles. It's one of my least favourite tropes, and normally it would have pulled me right out of the story. Somehow, though, this book still managed to keep me invested.

This took me about two days to read, which is actually pretty long for me, but it's one of those books where you really need to pay attention. There are lots of little details, and I found myself constantly trying to piece everything together alongside Marissa.

The mystery kept me guessing, the betrayals landed well, and by the end I was completely invested in finding out what happens next.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and I'll definitely be picking up book two.

Thank you to the author for giving me a chance to read this as an ARC!

What a great spooky season read!
Misty forests, stormy seas, air heavy with salt, shadows that seem alive, the constant feeling of being watched, brooding men, a cute dog... What else might you need?

I got genuinely creeped out at times reading So Below As Above. It think the book shines its best when it leans into the horror and being an absolute freak. Because what was happening in the end there!?

Much like the main character Marisa, we spend the majority of the book confused, so when the answers and explanation finally start to come in, it feels very satisfying.
Past the 50% mark I found it hard to put the book down. And I got to highlight some absolute banger lines!

Overall, a great debut and I can't wait to see what the author writes next!

absolute cinema! finishing this book has left me staring at a wall (complimentary) and I fear it’s going to haunt me for forever 🌊🕯️

As a reader, you can really tell that Amelia Saints crafted this story from her heart and poured everything into it. From the setting, the character arcs, the plot, the spice, and the journal entries from each character, there was nothing she didn’t think of while writing this story. My mind is blown, 1000/10.

I will be buying a physical copy of this book as a trophy for my shelves (and to do a re-read because I already miss the world and characters…yes, I prob need therapy for that lol).

Thank you Amelia for the opportunity to ARC read So Below As Above ⛓️🖤 your writing has changed me irrevocably!

✨Advanced Reader Copy Review✨

Solid 4.5 ⭐️ read and heck of a debut novel! If you’re going to dive into this book I highly suggest clearing your schedule. This book is hard to put down. Really enjoyed the memory loss trope and all the clues that kept getting thrown at me during the book. Everything came together perfectly in part 2. I continuously tried to guess what was going to happen and never got it right. I can also say that there are some parts of the book that actually scared me and that cliff hanger?? Excuse me!!! What was that??

Also the love triangle, to be obsessively loved by two men? Sign me up.

I immediately need book 2.
