Excellent book of twenty 7-8 page stories of mostly US murders. Most of the tragedies reported here are fairly recent, happening in this century. Not a whole lot of poisonings in this volume. That’s surprising, since it appears to be the woman’s murder weapon of choice in the other books in this series. Almost half of these murders occur when some hapless fellow least expects it. This series and one of its companions—Murder Most Vile—are just about impossible to put down. It takes about ten or so minutes to get through a murder and you think, just one more! And the next thing you know, you’ve been reading over an hour.
