Georgie B. Goode hadn’t realized that she was ready to rebel—not until she uttered a very decisive “NO” and had the rest of her family staring at her in shock. Her father, founder of the enormous Johnny B. Goode RV Empire, couldn’t believe it. What was going on with his daughter? Every year until now she had done what he asked: picked out a late-model motorhome for herself ready to showcase it at his giant RV Expo.
A late-model motorhome just doesn’t do it for Georgie. Her first love is the tiny retro travel trailer and vintage van division of her father’s empire…but he and her brother Jerry think she’s crazy wanting to build it up. They deliberately don’t make it easy for Georgie.
She takes to the road to prove she can live and travel in a vintage gypsy caravan, and meet her father’s outrageous sales targets as well. What she doesn’t count on is her great-grandmother Rosa’s determination that she should carry on the family gypsy tradition of fortune-telling on the road.
What with brother Jerry’s conniving tricks, her father’s unreasonable demands, and dozens of people flocking to her vintage van to have their fortunes told… Georgie really does wonder if she’s bitten off more than she can chew. And somehow, she has to figure out what the crystal ball is trying to tell her before Kaylene hooks up with a guy who is oh so wrong for her!
Cozy mysteries can too often be so light that they’re duller than dirt, but this novella length start to a series — they all appear to be around the same length — is quite charming and fun. The mystery is very light indeed, involving a con-man rather than a killer, but not having a murder but something of this nature for Georgie to solve — sometimes with the aid of her gypsy grandmother’s crystal ball — is the oeuvre of this series I think, and it actually works. Why it does so is the quick pace and the extremely likable Georgie.
Georgie is competing with her brother to run a new division of their father’s motor home business featuring retro, gypsy style caravans. Since Georgie is into vintage, and has one of the caravans herself, she’s itching to win the contest her father has set up and sell the most trailers. Reluctantly she begins incorporating readings to attract more potential buyers at the RV shows she travels to, and discovers she indeed does have the “gift” that her grandmother had. It leads to her helping a woman in a quandary over a potential marriage proposal. This leads to a light, cozy-type mystery, albeit a super light and rather pedestrian one.
While it might sound lame, this is mystery fluff done to perfection. The narrative is so engaging, in fact, the mystery is secondary, because it is loaded with atmosphere and charm. When I’m writing something emotionally draining and complex, something like this can be a wonderful distraction. I don’t have to think a lot, and can just enjoy the read. Because I loved the character and the premise, I loved this one. I’ll be picking up more and hope the same tone and atmosphere continue, so I’ll have another option when I need something light and fun, and just engaging enough to be a delightful distraction. Definitely fluff, but enjoyable fluff.
Georgie B Goode wanted to represent the vintage trailer at the RV Expo. Every year her family always showed off the latest and greatest of trailers from their showroom, but she felt as though the Vintage line was being neglected.
Her dad made a deal with her that if she could outsell her brother, then she could head up the vintage department, otherwise, her brother would be in charge.
Just as Georgie is ready to set off on the road, her great grandmother came to her with her crystal ball, telling her it was now her responsibility to carry on the family heritage.
While out on the road, she encountered a few interesting individuals, and managed to work up the nerve to use the crystal ball.
A case is solved, and Georgie ends up getting the most sales, by only one sale. Georgie decides her future from there, handing over the department to her brother, claiming that she would rather just be on the road team drumming up business as she travels from RV park to RV park.
A quick read. Not a lot of depth to it, but it was somewhat satisfying still to read. It will be interesting to see where the next in the series takes us.
Georgie want to take her Retro camper to the RV show instead of the fancy new RV her dad had delivered for her. She also wants to head up the Retro camper division of the family's business. Her brother also wants that division also. Her dad sets a contest that whoever sells the most campers during the next month will get the Retro division of the business. Her grandmother Rosa leaves Georgie her Crystal ball saying the gift has passed on to her. When a possible client talks her into a reading, Rosa sees danger for the Lady and tells her to watch out for a certain person. This was a fun mystery, although there was not death in it there was plenty of warnings and (some not so friendly) competitions between Georgie and her brother Jerry. There are plenty of mysterious things out there without being murders. I normally do not normally care for fortune telling or psychics. The story focuses more on the family dynamics than that of the gift, and weaves it into the story seamless ly It was a fun and lite mystery that was all around entertaining.
It's rare to find a mystery that doesn't include a murder. Trailer decorator Georgie B Goode wants to be head of sales for the retro/ gypsy trailer division of her father's rv company. Her great grandmother wants her to tap into her gypsy heritage and tell fortunes. She combines the two as she competes with her brother to win the department head position. As a fledgling fortune teller she has a lot to learn but can she learn fast enough to save the day. The novella length makes this a quicker read. The settings and characters are fun and engaging . I'm looking forward to reading more of this series
Solid first in the series. Believable setting. The owner of a very successful RV company issues a challenge to his son & daughter to determine who will run a particular segment of the business. So sister and brother set out on the road to win. However, Georgie, has inherited her great grandmother's gypsy powers of "sight" and is gifted her crystal ball. Georgie discovers she likes life on the road and it may change her path in life.
I've read a lot of cosy mysteries but this one was not only very well written, it is set in a unique venue. The gypsy caravan settings and lifestyle promises to deliver great stories. Looking forward to reading more adventures with Georgie and the whole Goode family.
I was searching for a new book to read and this series caught my eye. It had 2 of my favorite things, RVs and mysteries. I was drawn into the story quickly and loved it. I finished it quickly and am happily starting book 2 in the series.
Loved the book. I also love vintage trailers. Several stories in one. And who can pass up a gyspy fortune reader. A nice read for my own travel trailer. Can't wait too read the rest!
🖍️ 🌵 ⊱Quite dry reading, so it was difficult to really immerse myself in the story. 🗑 Other readers may find this story their cup of tea and right up their Winnebago. Pretty book cover.
Excellent start to what looks to be a fun series. The publisher's blurb gives hints and there is no need for spoilers, but that can't begin to prepare you for the twists. Sibling rivalry is woven throughout, as is the delightful meddling great grandma. Lots of nice people among the characters. Don't miss the fun!
These are really cute stories. I read the first and had to have the second and then the prequel and am now on my third. Georgie is a person of sight but doesn't want to be like her grandmother who was a fortune telling gypsy in her day. Her father is the king of the RV's and has a large dealership and is making a name for himself in the business as well as for his children. But Georgie gets the idea to take her little gypsy trailers on the road to sell them but her brother Jerry just keeps getting in the way. Then someone spots her crystal ball, that was given to her by her grandmother, and asks for a reading. She's never done anything like that before but decides to go ahead and do it. She starts telling people real things happening in their past and future. But a con man who takes women for all of their money starts ending up in her readings, she doesn't know what to do. But as her grandmother told her before she started this trip, her Leo would come along, and he does. I don't want to give it away, but you will enjoy the story. It's light hearted and a good read.

OceanPearl Books - Book Review Georgie B. Goode Gypsy Caravan Cozy Mystery Series (Book I)
Georgie B. Goode rebels against her family’s wishes and picks retro motor home for her father’s giant RV expo. As the Head Creative Designer of the Johnny B. Goode RV Empire, both her father and brother believe that she does not have the sales edge. Georgie’s great-grandmother adds to the challenge by giving her a generations old crystal ball and demands her to accept her calling for fortune telling.
McAlister’s element of brother-sister rivalry is sweetly played out.
So happy to have found this series to read. If the rest of the books are as enjoyable as this one, I will be a very happy reader indeed. I love Georgie, but her brother Jerry is a real jerk and it made me glad to see her beat him at his game. It's refreshing to see another smart woman retain her dignity in the face of unequal odds.
Marg Mc Alister - Good To Go I have read most of the Georgie B Goode Gypsy Caravan. This is a fun read that also challenges you follow the clues and what the outcome will be. If you know anyone who owns a retro mini trailer or mini gypsy inspired trailer they would enjoy this book or any of the books in this series.
Quick light read. I think I will like this series. No messy murders, no pages and pages of sex, no high drama. Just a lot of fun on the road with Georgie B. In her Gypsy caravan (crystal ball included).
Loved the first book and can't wait to read the second. This storyline combines two of my most favorite things vintage trailers and full-time RVing fiction! Excellent characters
Love that it is clean . love that it is cute . love that it is easy to read. I feel that this is going to be a fun series to read .and looking forward to read ing more of her stories
Very short but a fun mystery especially for those who like vintage campers. Characters are well drawn. Perhaps a little too much coincidence, but hey, it's a cozy mystery.
