Another great love story that falls too short. It's undeniable for me GL has talent. I knew I'd like this one. Well, I liked it just after reading the title. What I don't understand is why she is such a fan of short stories or novellas. In my modest opinion, they would all work better in whole-length novels. Because it's very obvious time goes too fast and holes are often big (coinciding with time gaps or not).
At any rate, I liked this story pretty much. This one is set a few months after the first book in the series. Cam is another porn star in Blue Boy and he moves around on his skate. Sasha has nothing to do with the industry, and he is a BMXer. They get along instantly. Cam wants to come closer to Sasha, but every time they manage to give in to their mutual attraction, Sasha pushes him away.
I like that Cam is not sorry for his relationship with the porn industry. It's a breath of fresh air he doesn't wallow himself in self-denigration or shame or tries to justify it out of necessity. He's honest with himself and with everybody else and I value that. There is a tendency of making reasons up when something is out of the ordinary: he needs the money, he doesn't value himself, he's trying to achieve some ends by these means. Here Cam is unapologetically proud of what he is and I appreciate that.
The health issue was unexpected but in a good way. I liked that turn of events and that it never becomes a cheap source of drama. This is the first time ever I've read about and that the disease and the consequences are treated with the respect it deserves. Now more, because that would be making a scene, but not less, because it's not something you can just ignore. There were bits of humor and we always welcome that.
I was happy to meet Levi and Sonny again. And surprisingly, I loved the scene. It didn't sound wrong and I never doubted their feelings for each other, just the opposite. But it was a mistake and I'll explain why. Yes, it was hot and natural, like it was meant to be. However, Levi and Sonny have lots of things to sort out yet and that's why I say that denying their right to have each of the these stories written with in a decent number of pages only leaves you unsatisfied. The problem is the time, which is lacking and results in the mistake I was talking about: does Cam fit with Sasha or is he better paired up with Levi and Sonny? Because there was a lot of chemistry between those three. Now the question will never die: Sasha or Levi-Sonny?
All in all, a good book. I recommend this series.

3.5 HEARTS--Back again for Garrett Leigh porn stars!
Though this could technically be read as a standalone, I wouldn't suggest it just because you get follow up and a major question from Bullet (book #1) answered.
The novella Bones stars nice guy Cam. He's a little spacey the resident ginger of Blue Boy Studio and a porn veteran at 25 years old. For some reason, I though this story was going to be light. And it was deceptively so in the beginning. Cam continues to have a fuck buddy relationship with the studio owner, Jon. I didn't get creeptastic vibes in Bullet (#1). But based in the blurb something fishy would be afoot.
And holy shit was it.
Cam has a kinky relationship where bottoms for Jon, lets him tie him up and use him however Jon sees fit. And Cam is unsettled. He doesn't like feeling this way but he sorta fell into this rut while getting over his mother leaving his family and divorcing his dad. Coming from a close knot family, he shakes Cam to his core. And he is struggling and drifting.
See that story? This beginning set up? I'd read it for days.
But what Bones does is take a lot of plot points, make it work. But something was missing. Or I should say, it too condensed for me to fully enjoy the premise.
My biggest gripe with this story? It's too condensed for the length.
We get real life issues: the big "C", having to adult, broken homes, possessive fuck buddies and non con. Some heavy stuff, am I right? Leigh does a good job of tackling the issues. I enjoy her style and technically it works for Bones... but I wanted more.
Cam has this weird relationship with his boss which he has to keep a secret from everyone and he just wants someone to call his own. Enter cute BMX-er and shop owner, Sasha. They meet at Cam's day job under cute circumstances and keep the cute going with their skateboard biking non-dates. They become friends but the attraction is there. And for Cam who likes to give hugs through his penis, it kills him that Sasha wants to be friends.
A plus of this story is that it doesn't use porn models jobs as something to be ashamed of and everything seems to be sex positive so far. The bits we get of Sasha is adorable and strong. The relationship between Cam and Sasha takes a backseat at times to follow up with Levi and Sonny, the previous couple. I'm very happy about it since I like those boys. And then the Jon angle came in to through a wrench in the flow.
Let's chat about the Jon angle, shall we?
The Jon angle - in the first third, he was amped up to be the bad guy in a way. He was the fuck buddy who turned possessive and weird. But then he went away and then came back with a crazy twist that gave me the case of the ick. Then he just disappears? I wanted an epic blowout, something. I'm left hanging and I want justice.
Couple that feeling with the fact Cam and Sasha don't really get together until the last 10% of the book (we do get an impromptu menage!) and I was happy with the progress. But I wanted more filler, more exploration of relationship development, more page time from Sasha.
Most of the main questions are answered, I'm hoping for more follow up with now Sasha and Cam as well as the first couple in the next book as Blue Boy goes a major change and I'm curious how it all turns out. The writing is good, the characters have enough depth to keep the story going.
If you're in the mood for an easy read about porn stars that gives a case of the reals, I'd recommend.
But you're warned about the ending, I wanted ore. And I think the author has the chops to take it there.
If Bones is ever really re-worked and lengthened into a novel, I'd read it. Because the premise and ideas are solid but I ended it with feeling I barely scratched the surface.

Ufffff, no me ha gustado absolutamente nada... No me gusta ser dura en las reseñas a no ser que vea algo ofensivo en el libro y aquí ofensivo no hay nada, es solo que me ha parecido todo ridículo. Los personajes quedan trazados de forma muy superficial, el plot no tiene ni pies ni cabeza, no hay historia de amor por ningún lado... Y no me quiero expandir.
En definitiva, otros libros de la misma autora están entre mis favoritos, pero este francamente me ha parecido muy malo.

Bones. it's about another porn movie star SAM. Who known in Blue Boy's Studio as "Mr. Nice Guy".
It might sound cliche to some; to read about a porn industry story. But trust me GL knows how to deliver,show an incredible journey of a self-discovery, friendship, behind something you may think it's predictable in a porn story book.!
I really liked Sam's character in the first book Bullet. and i'm glad i had the chance to get to know him even better in this one. in recent months he suffered a lot. and Sam's complicated relationship with Jon Kellar (His boss) who he only uses Sam for his desires. Jon he's not the kind lover, he loves to dominate. even though Sam is aware of that ,he can't let go of this sick relationship. because there is nothing beautiful in Sam's life that's worth fighting for.
Everything in Sam's life is falling apart, but when he meets the gorgeous,caring BMXer Sasha. will Sam may think that there's indeed something worth giving up his old life for.. These two were like Nutella&bread! they got along so well.
Another thing that bewildered me in GL's plot, Is her way of showing,handling a sensitive subject for the gentlemen. Cam's way of handling it it was really heartwarming. and Shasha's understanding,patience, shows everything a person needs when he gets into a situation like that.

The intimacy was hot in this book, I mean really bringing back my two other favorite Blue boys Levi ,Sonny who they have a "slumber party" with Sam. will that was one hell of a slumber party. I tell ya...
All in all. it was hot,funny,aching story that GL presented it in her on way. (Which i love). and i witnessed some unexpected changes between Levi,and Sonny's relationship. which left me intrigued...hmm

Cam is the “nice guy” of Blue Boy. He’s a ginger. He’s a top. He’s scened with just about every bottom in the stable. He likes pot roast. Ringing any bells here? It’s Colby, right?
Slam dunk read AND guaranteed 3 Stars.
This is my third experience with this author, and as I’ve said before, I think she has talent. That talent is raw. The essence of this story is sound. I like the message about testicular cancer and I think that was a great way for Cam and Sasha to bond. The dialogue is good and all the right parts are there. What her writing lacks is emotionality.
The characters seem to go from ‘we just met’ to ‘I don’t know how I’ll ever live without you’ in a blink, but I’m missing the ‘to’ part. There is far too much emphasis on the food in these characters’ relationship as well as their character development. Yes, eating is part of life and the dating process, but not the main character and certainly not what makes one interesting. By focusing so much on what these characters eat it makes them seem flat, one dimensional and somewhat vapid.
My other quibble with Bones is it’s unfocused. There are at least three story lines going on here, only one of which is resolved adequately. The Sonny/Levi story line seems to backtrack to Bullet and I feel like it even detracted in a way from Cam and Sasha who I don’t think were adequately developed in the first place.
I know it doesn’t seem like it, but I did actually like this book. I’m just trying to give this author constructive criticism. I like Cam. I like the main story line. I like Sasha. I like them together. The sexy scenes are moderately hot-hotter than Bullet, in my opinion. I was engaged and it’s safe to say I’m invested in this series.
I’d recommend to fans ofCocky Boys Blue Boy Studios and Colby.

I really felt the length of this story impede a lot of my enjoyment here. It was a quick read but quite of bit of character development was skimmed and in addition,the story line skipped along jumping from scene to scene with too many gaps for me to get a real feel for the characters.
I liked Cam from the first book and did enjoy his story here but the resolution with Jon was a non-event even if I did enjoy where Blue Boy Productions is headed next. I think of all the characters Sasha suffered the most by the lean page count.
About the Levi and Sonny cameo. I loved these guys and really enjoyed seeing them again. My issues. That being said, give me more Levi and Sonny please as well as Kai's story.

It was great to be back with the boys at Blue Boy Studios! Levi and Sonny (from Bullet) even make quite a few appearances, which is always fun! I didn’t connect with Cam’s story quite as much as I did the first book, but it was still a really good read. I will definitely read future books in this series. Or anything else Garrett Leigh writes, for that matter :)

A great addition to the Blue Boys series. Cam was so memorable from Bullet, so I wanted to read his story. He's a total California boy and reading about he and Sasha together as they get to know each other, read as spot on for both the attitude and the pace.
It wouldn't be a Garrett Leigh story without heartbreak and this one had it. Reading about Cam and all that he was going through was so hard and I could feel his helplessness. The optimistic HFN it ends with made sense and anything more than that would have been unrealistic. Knowing that this is a series helps too, because there is SO much I need to know still. And, not just about Cam and Sasha, but Sonny and Levi. Holy hell, that sideline heartbreaker is unresolved, so yeah, I'm anxious for the next one.
One thing I really liked was Cam's attitude about his job. He's a porn star and he likes it. He likes the industry and has fun. He's no Pollyanna about it, he knows the pitfalls, but he makes no apologies for what he likes and that was a refreshing perspective.

Got more than I expected.
Not usually a fan of porn industry stories, and honestly, kinda glad that aspect of the story was a minor element because it left more room for Cam and Sasha. I also liked that Cam was unrepentant and unashamed of his work--seriously, thank god. There was also a nice mix of internal and external conflict going on and a bit of a serious storyline. Some nice questions about sexuality and sex brought up here. Not discussed too deeply, but added a depth to a story that could have just been really porny. Finally, the laid back SoCal attitude expressed by both Cam and Sasha was so spot on that I felt like I've met these guys before.

This is an interesting world and there are lots of engaging twists and turns to the plot. Most time is spent on the world and the relationships outside the romance but the romance is still enjoyable.
Cam's emotionial make up is doesn't add up at all times and I would love to have been in Sasha's head but I like these two.
I like the look at sexual mores here and the dealing this body image in the book. The love story is a bit start and stop but you will root for Sasha and Cam.

3.5/5 Stars - I really liked this book. I really did, but it just felt so rushed and unfinished.
I love Garrett Leigh. She's another one of my insta-read authors and I know I'm going to like her work no matter what it's about. I really loved the first book in this series, but with the first one, as with this one, I just get the feeling that these stories are too big to cram into 124 pages. The content in this book could be twice that length and I wouldn't bat an eye.
I loved Cam! I knew a little bit about him from Bullet (Blue Boy #1), so when I came into this book I was really excited to hop on the Cam train and learn about who he was. But that's the thing, these books aren't really about who the characters are, but more about who they're with. And... I think Leigh is capable of more than that. No, wait, scratch that, I know Leigh is capable of more than that.
And Sasha was, well, generic-ish. You could tell that Leigh put more work into his character than throwing a completely generic character in as a place filler, but he was in the background for so much of the story that I really didn't get to see much more than the surface. I think Sasha was a little quirky and I would have loved to have read more with Cam and Sasha talking and interacting with each other. There was an initial scene in a skate park between Cam and Sasha where they just spent the day with each other and that was great, unfortunately, my information and opinion of Sasha is almost entirely based off of that interaction.
And the romance between these two... there wasn't really one. I'm not sure this is really a romance book, but more of a Cam overcoming his hardships and coming to terms with his new body kind of book. I just wanted more and I think a full length novel would have given Leigh the chance to write more scenes with these two.
As always, the Blue Boy crew was great. They didn't have as much of a presence in this book as they did in the last one, but they were still there. I loved the little updates on Levi and Sonny and I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series goes (hopefully the books get longer).
All in all, it was a good book. I rated it 3.5 stars, so I did really like it, there were just a few things that I wish were different. Maybe I'll get more Sasha details as a supporting character in book 3? (I hope so.)

I love Garrett Leigh. She's another one of my insta-read authors and I know I'm going to like her work no matter what it's about. I really loved the first book in this series, but with the first one, as with this one, I just get the feeling that these stories are too big to cram into 124 pages. The content in this book could be twice that length and I wouldn't bat an eye.
I loved Cam! I knew a little bit about him from Bullet (Blue Boy #1), so when I came into this book I was really excited to hop on the Cam train and learn about who he was. But that's the thing, these books aren't really about who the characters are, but more about who they're with. And... I think Leigh is capable of more than that. No, wait, scratch that, I know Leigh is capable of more than that.
And Sasha was, well, generic-ish. You could tell that Leigh put more work into his character than throwing a completely generic character in as a place filler, but he was in the background for so much of the story that I really didn't get to see much more than the surface. I think Sasha was a little quirky and I would have loved to have read more with Cam and Sasha talking and interacting with each other. There was an initial scene in a skate park between Cam and Sasha where they just spent the day with each other and that was great, unfortunately, my information and opinion of Sasha is almost entirely based off of that interaction.
And the romance between these two... there wasn't really one. I'm not sure this is really a romance book, but more of a Cam overcoming his hardships and coming to terms with his new body kind of book. I just wanted more and I think a full length novel would have given Leigh the chance to write more scenes with these two.
As always, the Blue Boy crew was great. They didn't have as much of a presence in this book as they did in the last one, but they were still there. I loved the little updates on Levi and Sonny and I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series goes (hopefully the books get longer).
All in all, it was a good book. I rated it 3.5 stars, so I did really like it, there were just a few things that I wish were different. Maybe I'll get more Sasha details as a supporting character in book 3? (I hope so.)

4.5 stars from me. I love the Blue Boy world...apart from the owner, ugh... what a creep!!
Cam is listless, bored and feels that there must be more to life than he's currently experiencing. Playing 'bottom' to Jon is no longer something new and exciting, mainly cos Jon is the only one really getting anything out of it. He doesn't see a lot of Sonny or Levi anymore, and to be perfectly honest is a little jealous of what they seem to have, and when he's on duty one day at the record shack, a guy comes in and asks if Cam has a certain Beatles vinyl in stock. The guy is hot and Cam knows he has something to do with the local BMX store, Sasha Tate also knows who Cam is and what he does for a living. Is Sasha put off?? Not at all, in fact a tentative friendship is started, and Cam is happy with that, he doesn't have many friends.
Sasha has secrets, and eventually the 2 guys will discover that they have far more in common than meets the eye. This is as far as I'm taking my review, I'm only giving you a appetiser...not the whole banquet!! Looking forward to the next one already Garrett...hope Kai's involved??

I enjoyed the book and connected with the characters, but wish that there had been a better balance between scenes about Cam's porn life and his real life/growing relationship with Sasha. I just felt like, as compelling as it was, there was too much sex and story happening that didn't include Sasha. Perhaps the depth of the plot would have lent itself better to a full-length novel.
As it is, I'd say that this novella is more a story about Cam's emotional and physical journey than it is a romance novel, per se.

Hmmm. Will write more when I have a few minutes. But some quick thoughts....
This book dampened the good feels I had from Bullet. Sonny and Levi were not exactly where I thought. :(
There are some serious events in Cam's life here that I felt were dealt with in a somewhat shallow way.

Look, there's nothing about a Garrett Leigh book I don't like. You know when you find an author who's your jam? She's my jam. Love her writing. Love her men. If you haven't read her, you're missing out. S'all I'm saying.

I really hate to say this but this story fell flat for me. I was excited to hear we would get Cam’s story, I liked the toppy redhead from Bullet and wanted to know what the deal was with he and Jon. I can’t exactly say what happened but I just did not connect with Cam in his own story.
There is something about this series that makes me want more of the MC we don’t hear from. In Bullet I wanted more of Sonny than I did of Levi and in this I wanted more of Sasha than I did of Cam. I needed to know… just more and I feel let down I didn’t get it.
I did like Cam’s ‘reasons’ for submitting to Jon, I got those and I liked that Cam’s family knew all about his career in porn and found it endearing how his father dealt with it. I liked how Cam and Sasha met; their flirting was fun and the BMX/Skateboarding connection was great. What slowed the story down for me was what happened after the first kiss they shared.
The first kiss was hot and I figured the reason Sasha pulled back from it early on I just didn’t expect it to be issue Cam’s also. It seemed oddly convenient that they both shared this and it did not work for me. One of them, sure. Both of them? It drew me out of the story. I felt it would have been stronger had Cam been the only one and he was shown that he could be taken care of by someone like Sasha. The whole ‘I’ve literally been there’ deal… ugh. It just didn’t work for me.
I am not sure what was up with Sonny and Levi either; they didn’t feel the same as in Bullet and I again, didn’t like where this story went. It could just be me and possibly my mood but aside from the kisses that were written so well… this fell flat for me. Even that last scene; I know it was important but I would have preferred it not to be the final thing I read. It felt more gratuitous than natural.
Bones, felt like too many of plot points thrown into a few pages with not a lot to support it. There was so much going on (Cam & Sasha, Sonny & Levi Jon & the Blue Boy studio, Cam & Jon, Cam & Porn…) that nothing felt like it was actually resolved. The character development was virtually non-existent and I was told it was but things happened so fast that I was getting whiplash trying to figure it all out and then it just ended.
Garrett Leigh has written some fantastic stories; her Roads series is in my top favorites but I think I will be stopping here with this series.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Blue Boy Studio’s series but I have just a few niggles. However, my enjoyment factor far outweighed any aggravations. I think most of my frustrations stem from unanswered questions, which ironically don’t revolve around the main boys here. I thought Sasha was absolutely brilliant and Cam was pretty rad too. Their story is complicated with hard emotions. As always, the sex was smoking and the writing superb. I have a feeling things will wrap up more securely with book three. At least, I am hopeful they will because I immediately clicked my way to Amazon to buy Bold after I finished. Although book three features another couple, I am confident loose ends from this story will tie up nicely.
What's to like: There are many things I love about Leigh’s stories but one thing I’ve come to rely on is her ability to weave real life hardships into her romance. It’s not all riding rainbows and cloud jumping. Her boys crash and burn and…hurt. But they always pick themselves up and keep going. This story is considerably short for the amount of ‘stuff’ going on. Which on one hand, I was always engaged and eager for more. On the flip side, there were pieces left dangling. There happens to be a Cam sandwich scene that took me by surprise. I understand why Cam needed that confirmation and it was undeniably sexy but…but…but I didn’t care for it from Levi and Sonny’s position. I don’t think it was healthy for them and found myself distracted with worries over them and Cam lost a bit of the focus. Yet I was pleased to see Levi and Sonny return because I adore them so! I very much enjoyed Cam’s family, especially his dad. All in all, a lovely group of characters.
What's to love: Sasha might be my favorite Blue Boy thus far. He radiates a sense of peace and calmness that Cam desperately needs. Cam has been balancing his day job and his nighttime gig with ease up until now. His warped relationship with his boss at the studio is beginning to interfere with his scenes. He’s restless and no longer content with his life. When he runs into a gorgeous motocross rider at work he can’t deny the draw he feels. There is something about Sasha that he can’t explain. Cam has never had a man of his own before, and never felt the need. But porn isn’t satisfying anymore, Jon is clearly using him and then he finds out…he’s sick. And the ground falls out from under him. Cam is not the best relationship material at the moment but Sasha doesn’t care. They both realize when the sea gets rocky, you need a tether to help you survive. Cam grabs Sasha like a lifeline and discovers he never wants to let go. Their untimely fall made me weak in the knees. So sooo good!
Beware of: I would classify Jon’s relationship with Cam as abusive. Things were consensual but there’s definitely turmoil and anguish between the two, and it was difficult to witness. As I mentioned earlier a menage scene takes place. Then there as those few loose strings flap in the breeze but I’m starting book three straightaway to see if they come together at the end of the series.
This book is for: If you haven’t read Bullet, you should. It’s beneficial having the history of book one. This sequel is sexy and stormy. Actually, I think this series should be bundled or read back to back. The MC’s change but the story continues. And I for one, can’t wait to find out what happens next!

About a 3.5 rounded up.
The second Blue Boy book follows Cam, the nice, caring top everyone wants to start with when they first start filming with Blue Boy Studios. There is more to meets the eye with Cam, though, and beyond the polite shell, Cam's been through a lot; his mother leaving, the empty feeling of a confusing relationship with his boss. When he meets Sasha, owner of a local bike shop, something clicks. Perhaps, just maybe, Sasha can feel that void. But, as always, life has a plan of its own.
I haven't read much by Garrett Leigh, but I've enjoyed all that I have, and this was no different. I was so looking forward to this, and it didn't disappoint me.
I did, however, have some issues that are purely personal and really tinged my view of it as I was reading. First, I had grown attached to Sonny and Levi in the first book, as a couple. Things that were said and happened in this book made me feel uncomfortable with that, and maybe that the two aren't quite as devoted to each other as I had originally felt in the first book. It ended up undermining that foundation for me a bit, which was frustrating.
Secondly, I really, really do not like it when . For some reason, it just irks me. It feels... anti-climatic, if you will. And it happened here, and by then I was just kind of done with it.
Still, I felt the book provided a good idea at a harsh, real life situation, that many men have to deal with and struggle with. I wasn't expecting it, and I certainly am not an expert on , but I felt like the emotions behind it fit.

I haven't read much by Garrett Leigh, but I've enjoyed all that I have, and this was no different. I was so looking forward to this, and it didn't disappoint me.

This book made me angry.
On the one hand I enjoyed some parts of it quite a bit. I like the way time skipped and skidded sometimes, how some depth was between the lines. And I liked Cam as a character, although I didn't always understand him.
Sasha mostly remained a vague mystery to me. Even with his backstory explained in the end, he didn't feel fully fleshed out and real. Jon as the villain fell completely flat for me. He was an ugly plot device, and one that didn't get enough breathing room to become an actual, tangible character either.
What made me angry was something else though. The first time Cam tied being a man to having two balls between his legs, I stumbled. But then it happened in the middle of his being diagnosed with testicular cancer. And cancer fucks with your head and reactions aren't necessarily rational and thought out. (The amount of discussions we had in this household about what features are “important” that cancer takes from you was unreal.) So it felt... almost normal for a cis guy to throw this knee-jerk reaction in there in a shitty way? But the second time it happened, it was a lot more krass and absolute and the worst part was? It was never negated.
With all the discussions happening about the implications of the diagnosis and Cam's feelings on it and Sasha’s experiences? Nothing. Not one word about that. It didn't just feel wrong, it felt harmful and gross. Because we get slapped with that toxic assumption, and then it stays with us without ever being questioned or put to rights.
That pretty much ruined this story for me, I have to be honest. Could've been a three-star read, but I couldn't get over that part.

This story wasn't nearly as good as the first book. With Cam being the nice guy I was expecting a way better story. Jon had too big of a part in this book and it distracted from the relationship with Sasha. Now Sasha is not a common name for an American guy so it would have been nice if we'd been given a bit more background on Sasha. Was he Russian? European? All we know is that he's good looking and have rich parents. Yeah, whatever!
Cam was a bit of a wuss here. I loved the relationship he had with his dad and how he was so open with his family about his porn career so it just didn't make sense that he wouldn't tell his father about his situation asap. I didn't get Cam's mother leaving. We could have done without that. Felt like since Levi had mommy issues, then Cam needed some mommy issues as well.
Didn't really believe Cam and Sasha as a couple so when they finally consummated their relationship in the last chapter I didn't give a shit. I'm gonna hold off reading the third book.

I couldn’t push through this any longer. Sasha and Cam bored me and although Jon and Cam had an unhealthy relationship, I was intrigued. I wish Jon hadn’t been made to be a completely one dimensional bad guy. I would have preferred to read a story about them and seen development within the characters and relationship.
After reading other reviews discussing how the subject matter of cancer was treated, I don’t think I’m missing out on much.
Sad, because I felt hopeful that I’d enjoy this series after Book 1.

This was okay for me. Not sure what it is about this series but it is so very different from Garrett Leigh's usual style of writing. In this book the angst and drama felt forced, and I also never understood what Cam and Sasha saw in each other. They didn't really spend a lot of time together and the whole situation felt choppy and unorganized.
If this series if your first experience with GL's writing, please don't use this as your standard. IMO this series is not her best work.

Somehow this didn't really pull me in.
It was well written (of course it was, this is Garrett Leigh!) and I liked Cam, but ... the love story between him and Sasha was a little bit on the short and side-lined side.

Okay.. this was ANOTHER surprise. I was already expecting to love this one even though I was skeptical about the first mostly because of the location - a Porn Studio (?) sounds like the best place to lose a plot line ;) and yet, I loved it, then when I started reading this one and was introduced (again) to Cam in a BDSM sex scene that made no sense?! I had to re-read a few paragraphs in the first page to make sure I"m in the right place - yep I am. So what's going on? I stopped reading, went to the book's GR page and checked again the synopsis and categories this one was under - totally Contemporary. Well, lets keep on reading.. and I did. COULDN'T put it down. I did, for a long conversation with my roommate which ended in "I NEED TO RETURN TO MY BOOK". Next thing I know, it's was after 2 a.m. and I reached "The End" with a stupid smile on my face.
Before I start my review I want to say something VERY important. This is a series. These are NOT stand alone novels so while you are very welcome to keep on reading (I"ll try to keep my review as much as spoiler free as I'm able) - the main couple in the previous book - Levi and Sonny - appear quite a lot in this novella and not only that, there is also an unresolved business there but since the story focuses on Cam and he is the sole POV we only get glimpses into the difficulties Levi and Sonny are having which reminded me why I gave "Bullet" 4.5 instead of 5 star rating - there were things left behind, not discussed or not mentioned at all that felt a bit odd. In this book it was the same, Levi's love interest is also quite an enigma with us getting only Cam's story. I understand this is JUST a novella, and yet I would have loved to get more from the significant other besides the obvious connection being built between the MC.
The story begins with Cam's distorted "relationship" with Jon - his boss. It was mentioned in the previous book that they MIGHT have a "thing" but Cam mostly denied it. Cam is best friends with Levi and Sonny, previously with each of them apart, currently with them as a couple. I loved getting more of Levi and Sonny, I really wanted to see their relationship "at work", I mean, the last one ended sweetly yet very vaguely considering the little they know about each other and yeah, their profession.. I got what I wanted in a way, yet I didn't.. because things just got complicated without us knowing what exactly is wrong..
Back to Cam! Cam's parents recently split up, or more specifically - Cam's mother left his father and 3 other siblings, not wanting to play "house" anymore. It affected Cam badly. He lost himself after that. His family is an anchor to him, they know everything about him (yeah, even what he does for a living..) and the break up just left him confused about life. He made some mistakes during this time, one of those being the whole "thing" he has with Jon which doesn't even make sense to him. He used to be more friendly, more fun - partying and enjoying life, and yep, enjoying his work. He has another day job, a "normal" one. It's not that he has a real financial problem, the porn just pays more than the bills allowing him to save and enjoy himself in the process. But he isn't having fun now.. he is tired and sad.
Enter Sasha. A BMX rider who catches Cam's eyes and doesn't let go. But things don't go according to plan, after a very intimate moment going totally bad, Sasha starts to pull away and Cam doesn't want to "just be friends" like Sasha offers.. He isn't sure if it's the Porn in general, the "ex-boyfriend" (Jon) making a possessive scene or is it just Cam himself not being such a catch..
A week passes in which Cam is totally miserable, then he finds something wrong. TOTALLY wrong. He isn't sure how to deal with it, isn't sure he can talk to anyone about it. Levi and Sonny seems miles away, though he has a great connection with his family he doesn't want to "intrude" with his problems, Jon isn't even an option.. (not to mention just HOW MUCH of a douche bag he turns out to be!) the only one left is Sasha who was in the right place at the right time (or rather the wrong place at the wrong time) and gave himself over to Cam to lean on. It was really sweet and tender between these two and though there is something VERY unlikely about the whole situation, I had no real problem with it. It was sort of "fitting", the sort of answer to all of Cam's prayers in a weird sort of way (can you tell I'm trying REAL hard not to spoiler?).
After the initial shock and Sasha being there for him to take off the load he confesses to his family and friends (Levi and Sonny). Cam was so lucky in that way, his family was so supportive of him no matter what, and his friends are really true friends even though they have strange sexual relationship most friends don't tend to share ;) They were there for him when he needed them even if they, too, made mistakes. They truly care about him which was very sweet to "see"/read.
The story ends with a look into a better future, not just generally for Cam, but for Blue Boy Studio as well. The next one in the series is of two characters we met briefly in this installment and the previous one - Kai and Matthew, both being dancers at Silver and new models at Blue Boy.
The only thing I thing I should mention is what Cam is dealing with was a surprise for me. It's not something I've really read before so it was quite "refreshing". I loved how realistic the whole thing felt and the impact it had on him felt so genuine it totally brought Cam to life as a "real person" for me.

Okay.. this was ANOTHER surprise. I was already expecting to love this one even though I was skeptical about the first mostly because of the location - a Porn Studio (?) sounds like the best place to lose a plot line ;) and yet, I loved it, then when I started reading this one and was introduced (again) to Cam in a BDSM sex scene that made no sense?! I had to re-read a few paragraphs in the first page to make sure I"m in the right place - yep I am. So what's going on? I stopped reading, went to the book's GR page and checked again the synopsis and categories this one was under - totally Contemporary. Well, lets keep on reading.. and I did. COULDN'T put it down. I did, for a long conversation with my roommate which ended in "I NEED TO RETURN TO MY BOOK". Next thing I know, it's was after 2 a.m. and I reached "The End" with a stupid smile on my face.
Before I start my review I want to say something VERY important. This is a series. These are NOT stand alone novels so while you are very welcome to keep on reading (I"ll try to keep my review as much as spoiler free as I'm able) - the main couple in the previous book - Levi and Sonny - appear quite a lot in this novella and not only that, there is also an unresolved business there but since the story focuses on Cam and he is the sole POV we only get glimpses into the difficulties Levi and Sonny are having which reminded me why I gave "Bullet" 4.5 instead of 5 star rating - there were things left behind, not discussed or not mentioned at all that felt a bit odd. In this book it was the same, Levi's love interest is also quite an enigma with us getting only Cam's story. I understand this is JUST a novella, and yet I would have loved to get more from the significant other besides the obvious connection being built between the MC.
The story begins with Cam's distorted "relationship" with Jon - his boss. It was mentioned in the previous book that they MIGHT have a "thing" but Cam mostly denied it. Cam is best friends with Levi and Sonny, previously with each of them apart, currently with them as a couple. I loved getting more of Levi and Sonny, I really wanted to see their relationship "at work", I mean, the last one ended sweetly yet very vaguely considering the little they know about each other and yeah, their profession.. I got what I wanted in a way, yet I didn't.. because things just got complicated without us knowing what exactly is wrong..

My Review:
This book went places I never expected it to go and I loved that about it. Honestly, I started the book late at night and was about to go to bed. The book was good, but I was tired. But then something happened in the story and I couldn't put it down until I hit "the end". I just never expected that twist, but it made this book so good. I love that Garrett Leigh went there with the story.
Cam is a guy struggling. He's been doing porn for a while as a top. Last year his mom left his dad and the entire family and it threw Cam for a loop. He began to unravel a bit although no one ever really realized it...even him. He just knows that he feels unsettled and that nothing is right anymore. And he's right...it's not. He's trying to fix his life with meaningless sex simply to connect. Something that's just leaving him feeling more hollow and empty at every turn.
Then he meets Sasha and feels a connection, but Sasha is enigmatic. One moment, he acts like he's just as into Cam, but then he will turn around and do a total 180 in the next moment. The mixed signals he's sending is certainly not helping Cam's frame of mind, but it all made so much more sense when everything was revealed and thankfully, I was completely WRONG in what I thought was going on with him. whew! I would NOT have liked it if the story had gone there...LOL.
Cam's going through a transition in this book, but so is the Blue Boy Studios...THANK YOU, Garrett Leigh. I love what happened with the studio in this book and think it's going to set up for so much better books to come. I can't wait to see what you do with the story lines to come. And with that segue, I should probably mention Levi and Sonny, the mc's from book #1 of this series. They were in this one too...quite a bit, in fact. But things aren't all good there...which is good for the realism of the series, but I will admit, I'm worried about them and where their characters are going. :(
But regardless, I can't wait for more installments from this series. It's definitely a good one.

Based on reviews by people whose opinion I trust and respect, I had planned to skip this book, sensing I would have problems with it. Skipping Bones, I started Bold, book 3 of the Blue Boy series, and quickly noticed little things that gave me the feeling that I was missing inside details that would make a lot more sense if I’d have read Bones. At 19%, I put down Bold and picked up Bones.
As I expected, I didn’t love Bones. I found Cam’s obsession with the idea that his body parts defined his masculinity and sex appeal annoying and frankly, insulting. If I were to lose a breast to cancer, I would be no less a woman, no less feminine. When men get vasectomies, they’re no less male, no less masculine. We shouldn’t be defined by our anatomy. I know it’s realistic that some people do have these worries and concerns but Cam took it to an off putting extreme. I didn’t feel the portrayal was very thoughtful or sensitive. And even if it might be realistic for some people, I wish the counterpoint would have been represented with equal fervor.
While I did have the problems with Bones that I had anticipated, at least I gained the insight into those mysterious details in Bold that I’d hoped I would. Plus I really enjoyed the parts with Sonny and Levi.
If you read Bullet and plan to continue the series, I do recommend reading Bones before proceeding on to Bold. I wasn’t crazy about it but I didn’t hate it and I did find it was worth reading to gain the insight I wanted.

I was looking forward to this story because Cam was a great secondary character in Bullet and I wanted to read his story. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as well.
Romance-wise, it took a long time to establish a love interest for Cam and even longer for the men to act on their attraction. In the meantime, Cam's boss, Jon, is still seeking him out for bondage scenes and Cam is getting no enjoyment from anything related to sex--including his scenes as a porn star.
Thankfully, Levi and Sonny are there to help him when he needs support. But on an off note, things are not going well with them and the places the author took them destroyed my little bubble of happiness after Bullet. I hope their relationship is addressed and worked out by the end of book three in this series.
In the meantime, in this one, Cam faces his demons with his boss and he faces cancer with help from his dad and friends, though for a while there it looked like he'd try to go it alone.
